***Monitoring in NWA

Hi Experts,
How to Find error logs and Traces in NWA with reference to SAP PI.
Thanks,
Srinivasa

All error messages from J2EE applications are written to the applications.<number>.log file. The file can be found in the file system under.j2eeclusterserver<number>log.
To analyze the logs, use the LogViewer plug-in in the SAP NetWeaver Administrator.
1. To start SAP NetWeaver Administrator, choose the URL http://<server:port>/nwa.
2. Choose Problem Management -> Logs and Traces -> Log Viewer.

  • IDoc Monitoring in NWA: PI Perspective

    Hi
I am a fresher PI Developer working on Netweaver 7.3. I came across IDoc monitoring tab in NWA, but it doesn't show the IDoc's processed within the last few days. Apart from this, there is also a IDoc metadata tab in IDoc monitoring in NWA. I couldn't understand why there is another metadata tab in NWA, while we add metadata by IDX2.Do we need to add IDoc metadata in NWA separately in order to monitor IDoc's from NWA? If not, then why IDoc monitoring in NWA is not showing any IDoc's while we had processed hundreds of IDoc's through ICO's(Java stack)? Is there a separate configuration to be done to monitor IDoc's from NWA?

  • How to setup Guided Procedure Monitoring in NWA?

    Hi I have NW2004S patched to SP11.
When trying to open the Guided Procedure Monitoring in NWA
    NWA, Monitoring>Guided Procedures
    I get the following error:
Guided Procedures JMX provider is stopped in the target system. Start cafeugpmodeljmx~eap application
Guided Procedures JMX provider is stopped in the target system. Start cafeugpmodeljmx~eap application
Cannot retrieve basic info: :name=BasicInfoProvider, component=cafeugp not in repository
However, the application cafeugpmodeljmx~eap when you go to NWA applications tab.
Any suggestions on what must be done to configure the monitoring?
I need to do this to monitor / debug the GP.

Go into Visual Administration and check if the application has been started. The path is Services -> Deploy -> Monitoring Configurator. Expand that and see if the jmx.eap application is running. If not, then start the application.
    Thanx,
    Mahesh

  • Java Monitor in NWA - Sessions chart

I'm having trouble understanding the Sessions chart in NWA for the Java Monitor.  I would like to know what the InvalidSessionCount key figure is all about.  I can understand ActiveSessionsCount and LogoffSessionsCound, but what does InvalidSessionsCount mean.  Ours seem to grow rather quickly (much higher than our ActiveSessionsCount) and I need some help understanding what action I need to take (if any).
    thanks
    Eric

    Eric,
Basically this monitor shows the number of sessions that have been invalidated and not yet garbage collected. Unfortunately the java applications have no control of the time when the garbage collector will be run -  this is decided by the JVM itself, but if the memory occupied by these objects is needed they will be garbage collected. When the memory utilization reaches the MaxHeapSize or MaxPermSize limit, Full GC is triggered
by the JVM which reclaims the memory from the dead objects and the space is freed.
So, as long as you don't experience performance issues you can relax!
    Cheers!

  • PI 7.1:  Weblogic (JMS adapter) - Connectivity &  MONITORING!!

    Hi ALL
WE have a requirement to integrate PI with Weblogic server using JMS adapter.
However, we would like to host the JMS queues in PI, so that we have end to end monitoring capability.
We do not want Weblogic Server to host these queue, instead want PI 7.1 to maintain these quese ... so that we can monitor these interfaces end -to- end.
Please, let us know if anybody has done this Weblogic integration with JMS queue monitoring  within PI 7.1.
So, the main GOAL is to have JMS Queue monitoring in PI, where we have visibility to how many queues are running and the no.of messages in sent in each queue and failures if any.
Also, is there any Queue monitoring under /nwa adminstration; where we can see the queue created in PI
So, if anyone has implemented this in PI 7.1, please let us know.
    Your help is greatly appreicated!!
    Thank you,
    Patrick.

    Hi Patrick,
We've done something similar but with PI 7.0 & Weblogic hosting the queue so I'm not sure how useful this will be to you...
Firstly, great move to have the queue/s hosted in PI (in my opinion), for several reasons:
    - You won't have to keep investigating whether or not Weblogic actually put the message on the queue/s or not.
    - It makes monitoring a bit easier.
    - For some reason on PI 7.0, when Weblogic or stops the queue services then PI stops polling for messages although we have green lights in RWB communication channel monitoring. If we stop & start the comm channel/s then the JMS Adapter starts picking up messages off the queue. A couple of SAP notes point to a known Weblogic issue with the way Weblogic works with initial contexts. Hosting the queues in PI would take care of this problem.
Currently we are using HermesJMS to monitor all JMS queue/s with number of messages & possible message backlog in the queues. We are also working on setting up Business Processing Monitoring that can do full end-to-end monitoring of a business process across the landscape not just in within PI. I'm also curious to see what's available in PI 7.1 for JMS queue monitoring.

  • Session Monitoring in AS Java Portal

We require Logs and history of User logins with their respective IP
addresses. Various forums talks about session monitoring in NWA but
this tab is not visible in our installation.
    We are on NW7.0 SP17

    Hi Hussaini,
I think session monitoring feature is available from NW 7.01 release. I am not sure for your version it is available or no.
And in session management you can not see hostorical data.
I think you can use different tools like wily  interscope for session monitoring.
    Thanks.

  • Why NWA/SLD/ Solution manager redundancy

I am just curious why systems like SLD and Solution manager both contain the same information? Like systems, software componenets etc.
Another question, I was just reading the docs for NWA administrator and I see that they are suggesting to do some ccms monitoring through NWA. Doesnt solution manager do this already? How many places are there to do monitoring, which ones are best???
Does anyone have Project experience and best practices for this?
    Thanks

    Hello Jeremy,
please note that Solution Manager its own landscape information (tcode SYMSY), which can also be synchronized with the SLD.
Solution Manager is just another display option for monitoring data. The actual monitoring data is retrieved by the CCMS monitoring infrastructure, which is also used by the NWA.
Java-only monitoring data is also retrieved by NWA via JMX. Even in a Java-only landscape, you must have a double-stack system as central system in order to display availability data provided by the CCMSPING agent.
To monitor an ABAP-only landscape, you do not need NWA for the time being.
To monitor a "mixed" landscape, you should use NWA on a double-stack system.
For more information, you can use the following quick links in the SAP Service Marketplace: /nwa, /monitoring and /javamonitoring.

  • How to see the data in data containers when working on Generic Sync ?

    Hi All,
I am working on Mobile Sales For HandHeld Generic Sync based application. To check the data transafer from Mi Client > MI server> CRM backend, we are using Generic Sync Queue Monitor in NWA. But how to check the actual dara in data containers showed on the monitor? Any specific transaction ( e.g. merep_mon for smart sync) to chk the same?
    Thanks & regards,
    Rucha Atre

    Hi,
This is a tedious process of viewing the data in the containers since there is no tool to monitor the same. The data sent from the client is stored MESYHEAD and MESYBODY. Once the entire processing is completed then the entries from this table is deleted. If the processing has failed or not taken place then the entries will in this table.
Data Containers will name value pairs with field name and data in the data field. This table will also contain data from smart sync applications.
    Thanks..

  • Message flow in SAP PI 7.31 JAVA only for ABAP Proxy synchronous scenario with Oracle DB

    Dear Experts,
I am working on a synchronous scenario Sender ABAP Proxy <===> SAP PI 7.31 JAVA only <===> Oracle Database.I have successfully
configured all the proxy configurations as well both Sender SOAP and JDBC receiver channels are showing no error when pinged from
    Cc monitoring in NWA.
1.During testing at Tx SPROXY , I am triggering a message and after 5 minutes I receive an PARSING error message with 2 messages in ECC
    local IE i.e. Tx SXMB_MONI.
Note : In NWA , I can see only 1 message that too in cancelled status.
2.Seeing the trace of the messages I assume that the messages have not moved from sender ECC system. I am still confused with flow of message
from the Message Audit log. Audit log of error messages.Could any one share the full Audit log of a successful message generated in SAP PI 7.31 JAVA only.
3.I observed that the QIN Scheduler status in ECC is in INACTIVE status. There is no queue id for 2 messages generated in ECC. Does
it should in ACTIVE status in Tx SMQR..
    Regards
    Rebecca

    Hi Thomas,
    Valuable inputs..
    1. Since I don't have any audit log for successful message, would you be able to share referring to the
below screenshot whether the message was put into receiver JDBC adapter and JDBC adapter tried to retrieve the Select response from Oracle Database.
2.I have done some setting in Advance mode of the receiver JDBC to increase the time out and other parameters as per SAP note but still the issue is same. If you perhaps have some experience in such scenarios, please share some input so that I can ask the Oracle Database administrator exactly what is required from our side.
3.Regarding the slow response from Oracle , there was some suggestion that the datatype of the request and response should match the column name of the Oracle database. I did that.. Do you have any more suggestion that may be hampering the generation of the response message from the Oracle like SAP note or document.
    Regards
    Rebecca

  • IViews are not updated in customized top level navigation

    Hi experts,
I am working on External Facing Portal. I developed customized top level navigation. The problem is that the content area of External Facing portal is not refreshed. Although, i can see different navigationURLs but content area iView remains same. For testing purpose, i assigned role (which i created for anonymous access) to a new portal user. All pages/ivews/ for that role are working fine and content area is also updated when i click on different navigation. Remember that is standard portal not anonymous. It means through myserver:50100/irj/protal?NavigationTarget=navurl://cb0c473832f39033f88904647de63252 all navigation is working fine including content area but when i access External Facing Portal through  myserver:50100/irj/protal/anonymous?NavigationTarget=navurl://cb0c473832f39033f88904647de63252 navigationURLs is updated but the content area remains same. Content area contains 1 page and page itself contains 1 iVew. I assigned that light page to Light Framework page.
Do i need to implement navigation connectors for that issue or i miss something?
    waiting for your response.
    regards
    Abbas

Have you tried disabling the iView caching (check the iView and page properties). Your browser and proxy server (as you mention it is external facing) may also be caching the content, hence the reason when you use your user ID and the Java restart occurs everything is reset correctly.
I know when doing Visual Composer developments that SAP EP caches the Function Module interfaces and that in the development environment I needed to change parameters in Visual Admin for the VC component lifetime to handle these. It could well be that you are referencing components that have lifetime keep alive set for them in the environment too. Refer to the API / SDK documentation if you suspect this could be the case for you too.
What exactly is the iView in the content area doing? Is it just a transactional iView or is it a custom iview?
If you can perhaps try putting on an http trace or monitor the NWA logs to determine if any issues exist. You Java VM may also require some more fine tuning in the external facing scenario - the GC may not be collecting items efficiently.

  • InterfaceDetermination did not yield any actual interface - Error

    Hello All,
We are working on a synchronous interface integrating with the third party.
On executing the inbound interface (Third Party to SAP ECC), third party system receives the error as stated below
com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.aii.adapter.xi.routing.RoutingException: InterfaceDetermination did not yield any actual interface
On checking PI logs there is no logging in both message monitor and communication channels.
Any suggestions/ideas on debugging this error would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Nilambari

    1.
Please reassure that you are looking at the correct PI system. As the sender gets some error messages that come from com.sap... namespace there ought to be some traces on the PI system, either in communication channel monitoring, message monitoring or nwa/logs
    2.
As you are proably providing a webservice to the third party just use the WSDL you provided and use that within soapUI. See for a tutorial here http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/software-engineer/how-to-test-web-services-with-soapui/ (be aware, you might need to import your PIs certificates to cacerts of soapUI if you use https and your PI presents a certificate that is not signed with a trusted CA)
    3.
If you are sure about the interface / channel you are calling, use XPI inspector (http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1514898) to track down the error. Use Template "50" and specify your receiver channel
If that doesn't help, please come back with a more detailed description of your scenario.
    HTH
    Cheers
    Jens

  • :: NWA does not show table view for monitoring reports ::

    Hi,
We are facing an issue in one of our portal system.
I click on Portal index page, then I go to Net weaver Administrator --> Monitoring --> Java system reports.
Here I get the resource utilization graphs.
The graphs show proper values however when I click on table view it does not show any value or table at all.
Then I click on Settings button, and click on Persistent radio button.
It asks to enter the number of days for which the the data should be stored.
I gave it as 2 days and click on Apply button.
It shows a message saying "changes would be effective after restarting monitoring service".
However when I go there i.e. NWA --> Administration --> Applications
    I get below services
    cafruntimemonitoring~ear
    com.sap.ip.bi.sdk.monitoring
    tclmwebadminmonitoravail~wd
    tclmwebadminmonitorcomplib~wd
    tclmwebadminmonitorprovider_ear
    tclmwebadminmonitorstate~wd
    tclmwebadminoverviewmonitoring~wd
    tcmonitoringsysteminfo
Would you kindly suggest which service from above list should be restarted ?
    Thank you, Regards,
    Girish Garje.

I think what is being asked is "How do I expose a database view as a schema table in Configuration Manager?"
This is accomplished by creating a database view within the WCC database schema (and with the WCC schema user as the view owner). The view then will appear as a table in the "table" tab in Configuration Manager.
One caveat in 11g is that the user created by RCU does not have any privileges to read/create views in its own schema. You may need to grant privileges to views for the WCC schema user before this will work.
