Monitoring: Return code of last database structure check

Hi,
I am setting up monitoring in SolMan for different systems. Does anybody know the u201CAnalysis Methodu201D for node u201CLast Check Return Codeu201D under u201CDatabase Structure Checku201D in MaxDB (path in CCMS: Database -> MaxDB -> Health -> Database Structure Check -> u201CLast Check Return Codeu201D and u201CLast Successful Checku201D? I have tried several, but without success. Is it possible to create analysis methods?
Thanks!

  • Database structure check

    Hello All,
In the Live Cache alert monitor for a production system I am getting a red alert for the node "Database Structure Check" The message is "No data consistency check in the last three months"
Can anyone please let me know if I can schedule the "Check database structure" from the DB Planning Calendar ( LC10 ) in the production system? Does it have any effect on the system performance?  If there is any prerequisite steps that need to done before running the "Check database structure" please let me know.
The Live Cache version that is currently running is 7.6.02   BUILD 014-123-152-175.
    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Hello Sanjay,
you can use the TA DB13 or DB13C for planning the Check Data. But there are also other possibilities to do it. I think all you questions in the FAQ note to the Check Data procedure.

  • HTTP Return Code Checking on ACE

    Hey there.
I have a question regarding return code checking for a serverfarm on ACE. I am looking to have the ability to monitor a client's session real-time and monitor return codes passing back from the origin servers to the client.
For example, if during a client's session there is a single HTTP 500 error code sent from server to client, the intercept that response and first retry the request on a different server in the farm. Or perhaps only if I see three 500 error codes in 30 seconds. Something like that.
From what I can tell from the docs the retcode check command for a serverfarm is maybe only for statistical purposes?
    Thanks for any help.
    /ahuffer/

In ACE return codes checking is only used to count number of return codes from Rservers. Unlike CSMs (where return codes were used for inband health monitoring) ACE is not using them for load balancing or inband health
monitoring. Once you enable return code checking and counting you can then display the return code statistics per serverfarm
    for example
    serverfarm host serverfarm1
    retcode 200 499 check count
    rserver real1
    inservice
    rserver real2
    inservice
    show serverfarm serverfarm1 retcode
    serverfarm : serverfarm1
    rserver : real1
    np : 1
    return code action total count
    +------------+--------+------------+
    200 count 100
    201 count 0
    202 count 0
    203 count 0
    204 count 0
    205 count 0
    206 count 0
    498 count 0
    499 count 0

  • Automatic Checking of Database Structures

In OSS note 521870 SAP recommends to perform a weekly
check of the Database Structures to verify that the
Maxdb database is not corrupt. Unfortunately this
OSS note only describes the manual procedure to
    perform this task:
dbmgui -> Check -> Database Structure
Is there any way to easily schedule this also via dbmcli?
The SAP online documentation contains some interesting
information about integrating the check into the CCMS,
here I can see whether the database structure check
was performed recently, but unfortunately I cannot
    schedule it
    http://dev.mysql.com/doc/maxdb/en/30/5ada6e596211d4aa83006094b92fad/content.htm
All I can find here is to schedule it via DB13,
but unfortunately my SCM 4.1 system is running on
Oracle and I want to check the liveCache on Maxdb,
so I cannot use DB13 for scheduling the check.

    Hello Mark,
    Central DBA Planning Calendar ::
In the user menu, choose the Central DBA Planning Calendar
    (transaction DB13C).
If it is not already there, add your liveCache to the list of systems.
To do this, choose Configuration ® Add System.
System ID: Enter here the liveCache name that you assigned during the
integration of the liveCache (using MaxDB/liveCache System Overview).
    Database: Choose SDB/LVC.
Database Release: Choose the liveCache Version in accordance with the
     version notation .
    Select No SAP Basis.
Database Server: Enter the name of the liveCache server.
Connection Name: Enter the name of the database connection.
To switch to a local DBA planning calendar, choose Local Calendar and then
select the system for which you want to edit actions.
Please also review the SAP notes 940420, 521870 ( you already know this note ).

  • Job Check database structure in a MaxDB

Good night, I would ask if it is normal that the process of check data structure in a MaxDB database of 220 GB more than 12 hours later to finish?
    what function does this job?
    Thank you very much

    > Good night, I would ask if it is normal that the process of check data structure in a MaxDB database of 220 GB more than 12 hours later to finish?
    This heavily depends
    - on the number of volumes you have (parallelism)
    - on the speed of the I/O subsystem
    > what function does this job?
    it's like doing
    dbmcli -U c db_execute check data

  • Transport fails with return code 12 for 0CHANOTASSIGNED Characteristics

    Dear Experts,
I am transporting the 0CHANOTASSIGNED characteristics from BI Dev to BI QA.
In BI Dev, I use the option Necessary Object.
While importing request into BI QA, it fails with a return code 12. Some of the errors are:
Start of the after-import method RS_IOBJ_AFTER_IMPORT for object type(s) IOBJ (Activation Mode)
    System error in lock management
Error AD 025 during after import handling of objects with type(s) IOBJ
Start of the after-import method RS_IOBC_AFTER_IMPORT for object type(s) IOBC (Activation Mode)
Error when checking the InfoObjectCatalog 0CHANOTASSIGNED
InfoObject 0ABCINDIC is not available in active version
InfoObject 0ABCPRC_TYP is not available in active version
InfoObject 0ABCPROCESS is not available in active version
InfoObject 0ACCT_TYPE is not available in active version
InfoObject 0ACTIONREAS is not available in active version
This goes on for lot of infoobjects. If I were to goto RSA1 of BI QA and check any of the above objects, they are 'INACTIVE'.
But they are 'ACTIVE' in BI Dev.
Please help me in resolving this issue.
    Thanks and BR,
    Raj Jain

    Hi I.R.K,
I recreated a trasnport for just one Infoobject (0ABCINDIC) which was one of the objects not active as shown in the logs of BI QA while transport.
I did not make any changes or delete any data etc. I then just transported these request from BI Dev to BI QA.
The transport was successful with return code 0. I then checked this object in RSD1 of BI QA and it was activated.
Any ideas what may be the cause???
    Thanks,
    Raj Jain

  • BAPI-RETURN CODE INF

Hi everybody what is the main purpose of return code.
    Data dictionary structures
    -BAPIRETURN
    -BAPIRETURN1
    -BAPIRET1
    -BAPRET2.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Each BAPI has a return parameter that is either an export parameter or an export table.
A BAPI should be able to record and classify all possible errors that may occur.
You have to create a parameter named Return for every BAPI. This parameter returns exception messages or success messages to the calling program.
BAPIs themselves must not trigger any messages (such as MESSAGE xnnn) in the coding. In particular they must not generate terminations or display dialog boxes. Instead, all messages must be intercepted internally and reported back to the calling program in the Return parameter. Otherwise the BAPI will not be processed correctly and control may not be given back to the calling program.
The export parameter Return can be implemented as follows:
As a structure, whereby it must be defined in the function module as an export parameter, as well as in the method in the BOR.
As a table, whereby it must be defined in the function module as a table parameter, as well as in the method in the BOR as an export parameter.
Before filling the Return parameter you should either initialize the structure with CLEAR or the table with REFRESH and CLEAR.
If the return parameter is not set or is set to an initial value this means that no error has occurred.
The Return parameter may be based on the following reference structures:
    BAPIRET2
You must use this reference structure when developing new BAPIS.
    BAPIRET1, BAPIRETURN
These reference structures are still partly used in old BAPIs.
Both structures must be filled in the logon language.
Have a look at return parameters in below link.

    > I guess i'll have no choice but to restore the database ...
Yes - most like that will be the case
But before you do that, I'd check the hardware also (drivers, firmware, OS patches etc.). If the system is connected to a SAN I would also check the logs of that.

  • CSM HTTP return code checking

    Hey again.
I have been looking into the CSM return code checking feature as suggested by this forum. This is a little closer to what I am looking for but I have question about what happens when there is a failure.
If a 500 code for HTTP is seen three times, for example, and the server is removed from the farm, is the original request from the client tried on the next server? Or is a reset sent back to the client, or the original code, and the client must try again.
I am trying to understand if the client will notice if the CSM noticed X number of a particular error and removed the server from the farm.
    Thanks for any help!
    /ahuffer/

I think you are mixing two things up(Inband health monitoring & HTTP return code checking).
The "Inband health monitoring" feature checks for both RSTs from a server and the failure of the server to respond to a SYN. If a SYN ACK response to a SYN is not received, the TCP portion of the code will perform several retries of a SYN before timing it out.
    It is configured as follows
    CSM(config-module-csm)# serverfarm xyz
    CSM(config-slb-sfarm)# health retries 10 failed 50
(Retries are the number of abnormal end sessions that the CSM will tolerate before removing a real server from service. The failed time is the number of seconds that the CSM waits before reattempting a connection to a real server that was removed from service by inband health checking.)
"HTTP Return Code checking" is the CSM feature that can be configured to take a server out of use in response to receiving specific return codes.
When HTTP return code checking is configured, the CSM monitors HTTP responses from all balanced HTTP connections and logs the occurrence of the return code for each real server. The CSM stores return code counts. When a threshold for a return code is reached, the CSM may send syslog messages or remove the server from service.
Unlike "Inband Health monitoring", "Http Return code checking" feature has a small (estimated in 10-15%) impact on CPS setup rate, since it requires parsing L5 information in the server-to-client direction.
If the server is taken out of service, Client's request will be loadbalanced among available servers.

    1. Call transaction SMQ1 and check whether all queues in all clients (client = '', queue name 'MCEX') have been processed. To process the queues, start the collective run report for each application in the displayed clients. If you no longer need the data in the BW system, deactivate the relevant extraction queues and DataSource in the LO cockpit (transaction LBWE) and delete the queue entries in transaction SMQ1.
    2. If you use the V3 update that is not serialized (usually only for application 03): Start collective run report RMBWV303. Then check the update orders in transaction SM13. If there are incorrect update orders in transaction SM13, correct the orders and then start the collective run report again. If you no longer require the update orders, you can delete them. There may be inconsistencies between tables VBMOD and VBHDR. For further information about this, see Notes 652310 and 67014.
    3. Before the upgrade, delete the contents of the setup tables. Execute report RMCEX_SETUP_ENTRIES to find out which setup tables still contain entries. You can use transaction LBWG to delete the contents of the setup tables for all clients.
Unfortunately the check that the system carries out during the upgrade or when you import a Support Package does not display all affected applications. Therefore, Note 1083709 provides a check report that you can use to determine all affected applications and tables or queues.

  • The database structure has been modified - how to check if it happend?

    Hello,
I have a question. How to check if the database structure has been modified? I know that there is shown a messagebox after creating table and adding some fields, but sometimes this message appear after some seconds. The problem is that I want to create table and UDO for this table, and until database structure is not modified I got an error message. If I wait and DB strucuture modifies then UDO is creating correctly.
My question is - does anyone know how to check if database structure has been modified?
    Regards,
    Hmg

    Hi Szymon,
I guess you are stuck up in a kinda scenario, where in, you will be populating a form with values, before the structure modifies, if this is going to be your problem, I can help you out with a work around.
In the beginning of the process, before the creation of the UDO or tables, set a boolean value to false, and once all UDO's and Tables are created, only then, should you make it true and only after the boolean becomes true, you should proceed with populating the values from the screen.
I really ament sure what your problem is, but one of my guys faced this problem, I then, thought even you might have a similar problem.
