More and more JOptionPane dialogs

weirdest problem I've ever had.. so far..
applet works fine in applet viewer.. and in browser
thing is.. I have a button to save to database.. works fine.. when saved I used a JOptionPane to show a message with something like "save completed" all works..
problem starts when you leave the page.. go to another page.. there the applet gets loaded with diffrent parameters.. and then save that one.. now you'll get 2 JOptionPanes.. with the same message..
go to some other page and save again and you'll get 3.. etc..
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "De flowchart is opgeslagen!", "Opgeslagen", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);that's the optionpane.. gets called when the loop for saving to database is done..
**EDIT**
hmm.. this is interesting.. same problem 3 years ago

You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

    Can anyone tell me how to add new item in more options dialog box(site actions -> more options). I want to add new item there to the new page layout which I created but I didn't find any way to do it. can anyone assist me for this.

    Good point, in order to add a Page into that area, you will need to define a Custom Action. You can learn more about creating Custom Actions here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh500259(v=office.14).aspx
    As an example, Microsoft uses the following Custom Action to add the "Publishing Page" to that Create Silverlight control when enabling the Publishing features:
    <CustomAction
    Id="CreatePublishingPage"
    GroupId="WebPages"
    Location="Microsoft.SharePoint.Create"
    Sequence="100"
    Title="$Resources:cmscore,Create_WebPages_PublishedPage;"
    Description="$Resources:cmscore,Create_WebPages_PublishedPage_Description;"
    ImageUrl="/_layouts/images/ltpp.png">
    <UrlAction Url="_Layouts/CreatePage.aspx" />
    </CustomAction>

    How can I get the "Open" and "Save As" dialog boxes to open at larger than their default size?  I would like them to open at the size they were previously resized like they used to in previous operating systems.  They currently open at a very small size and the first colum is only a few letters wide necessitating a resize practically every time one wants to use it.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Copy and paste into dialog boxes

    Copy and paste into dialog boxes
    Greetings:
    This is a cross post, so sorry about that, but I had originally replied to a previous post,
    before I realized it was probably the wrong forum
    for my question.
    Copying from a document to a dialog box field doesn't work anymore; How do I fix it?
    We have the problem since upgrading to Tiger.
    Our Mac users, during their workflow, paste a filename
    from a document into the 'save as' field (when printing to a .ps file).
    This no longer works. UNLESS they control click in the 'save as' field.
    Then they can select 'paste' with the mouse. Why is this happening? and how can we fix it? (so they can just 'command C' then 'command V' as they used to).
    We have repaired permissions, cleared user caches,
    tossed finder prefs, logged in as another user,
    all to no avail.
    Thanks in advance!
    z

    Matt,
    Thanks for your response.
    I agree that something else is capturing the shortcut, as
    all shortcuts are unavailable in the pulldown menus at that point where we used to be able to 'Command V' paste into the text field. We're not using Quick Keys, and the
    Full keyboard access setings are default for OS 10.4.
    I did experiement with turning of some of the modifier F key selections in the Keyboard system prefs but none made
    any change for this issue. For now our work around will be to control click in the text field and select 'paste'.
    Seems odd that the contextual menu is available for that field but a 'command V' or command control V doesn't work.
    Not a huge deal, more of an irritant, but I'll keep on the hunt! Thanks again!

  • Solution for Slow Open and Save As Dialogs under 10.4.4

    I don't know how many others out there may be experiencing this, but...
    I noticed that -- after updating to 10.4.4 -- I started getting really long delays when accessing Open and Save As file dialogs -- I mean, sometimes it would take 5 to 15 seconds for the dialog to appear!
    I did a lot of troubleshooting, and finally hit upon the solution a couple of nights ago:
    It's the Desktop iDisk!
    Going into the .Mac Preference Pane and turning off "iDisk Syncing" has totally eliminated the slowdown.
    I think it has something to do with DiskMirrorAgent, since that has frozen on me a couple of times and prevented logoff until I force-quit it.
    'Hope this helps.

    Hi Matt,
    One can always manually mount the iDisk when needed, and it still syncs, albeit in real time, and kind of herky-jerky.
    As for the slowdown when multiple items are mounted, I believe I'm describing a different issue, related to DiskMirrorAgent. If and when you get this slowdown (with desktop iDisk syncing enabled), check Activity Monitor, and you'll see DiskMirrrorAgent sucking up most of the CPU time for the time it takes before the dialog appears. My record time was about 25 seconds.
    As for slow Open and Save As dialogs when multiple items are mounted: I customarily have several external FireWire drives mounted, and often a couple of CDs and/or DVDs (I produce a radio program, and have several optical drives), and I have had no Open or Save As dialog slowdowns since at least 10.3.x, maybe earlier.
    Even when the dialog opens to a directory on a CD that has spun down, the opening time on an Open or Save As dialog is nearly instantaneous for me, suggesting that Mac OS X 10.4.x is doing a good job of caching the data.
    But I hear you about the "old days," when it used to take forever to get a dialog to appear, just because a CD was mounted! Maddening!

    Go to Solution.

    You can pass a default file name to the 'File Dialog' Express VI.
    Use the 'selected path' output to open the file.
    Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T

    No, there are many, but it depends on the file you are looking at.

  • Customized KeyboardFocusManager problems with JOptionPane-Dialogs

    Hi,
    I have a problem I'm not able to solve: With Java 1.4.2 unter Linux, as well as all newer Java Versions (1.4, 1.5, 1.6) under Windows, dialogs created by JOptionPane.showXXXDialog do not react to keyboard events like <Tab> any more when using a customized KeyboardFocusManager. Java 1.5 and 1.6 under Linux work fine.
    Here is what I did:
    I have a JFrame and want some customized focus control when navigating through the Frame with <Tab>. Therefore I've implemented a class
    public class EfaFrameFocusManager extends DefaultKeyboardFocusManagereand said in the main JFrame:
    EfaFrameFocusManager myFocusManager = new EfaFrameFocusManager(this,FocusManager.getCurrentKeyboardFocusManager());
    FocusManager.setCurrentKeyboardFocusManager(myFocusManager);The constructor of my EfaFrameFocusManager stores the JFrame (this) and the original KeyboardFocusManager (2nd arg) for later use. Within my own FocusManager, I've implemented the method
    public void processKeyEvent(Component cur, KeyEvent e)which is checking whether the desired Frame (efaFrame) is currently active or not. If it is active, it's performing my customized operations which is working well. If it is not active (e.g. because a dialog created with JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog() is open), it should perform default actions. So I said within processKeyEvent:
    if (!efaFrame.isActive()) { // efaFrame is the previous "this" arg
      fm.processKeyEvent(cur,e); // fm is the previously stored CurrentKeyboardFocusManager
      return;
    }Instead of invoking processKeyEvent on the original KeyboardFocusManager fm, I also tried super.processKeyEvent(cur,e);, but without any change in behavior.
    As I said before, this is working well under Java 1.5 and 1.6 with Linux.
    However, it is not working unter Windows (any Java version I tried, including 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6) and also not unter Linux with Java 1.4. With these combinations, dialogs created by JOptionPane.showXXXDialog(...) do not respond to the <Tab> key. I do see that my own FocusManagers processKeyEvent method is invoked, and I also see that it invokes the one of the original FocusManager, but the Dialog doesn't react.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Nick.

    I have a JFrame and want some customized focus control when navigating
    through the Frame with <Tab>. sounds like you should be doing this via a FocusTraversalPolicy

  • Growing a JOptionPane dialog vertically

    I am writing a simple JPanel for use within message dialogs.
    Just wanted to add "more details" functionality really, for error dumps etc.
    I've so far used this with JOptionPane:
         DetailsPanel detailsPanel = new DetailsPanel();
         detailsPanel.setMessage("Some error occurred");
         detailsPanel.setMessageDetails("Error dump details, stack trace, blah blah...");
         JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(frame, detailsPanel, "ERROR", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
    However, when the button is clicked to display the extra details, the dialog doesn't resize to account for the extra text. I'm using a GridBagLayout manager, but previously had a BorderLayout. Neither seem to work. Have tried adding to a frame manually, same effect. Tried explicitly resizing the panel and parent, revaliding, invalidating, repainting blah blah.
    Am I missing something obvious? Thanks for any help. Andy.
    Here is the class:

    import javax.swing.JButton;
    import javax.swing.JLabel;
    import javax.swing.JPanel;
    import javax.swing.JScrollPane;
    import javax.swing.JTextArea;

  • "Save As" and "Open" file dialog windows very slow to appear...

    I have a home network with 4 PCs, three using XP/3 and 1 using Win7.  Until recently, I had the three XP boxes in one workgroup (not homegroup) and the Win7 box in a different workgroup.  Everything was running fine.  I got anal and decided
    to rename some of the boxes and put them all in one workgroup, the one that the Win7 box is in.
    Immediately after I did all that, I noticed that every time I did a "save as" file function on the Win7 box, no matter the application, the dialog window took much longer to appear - sometimes almost 10 seconds.  This is not the case on the XP
    boxes.
    Following a suggestion I got on the Microsoft Answers Forum, I removed all the shares on my network and even removed the 3 XP boxes from the network, and I turned off Network Discovery.  The problem persisted.  Only when I disabled my LAN
    connection did the dialog windows appear instantly, as they had done before.  I have now restored the original configuration, but the "save as" dialog window continues to come up very slowly on the Win7 box.
    Any thoughts, clues or suggestions as to how to fix this non-critical but very irritating problem would be greatly appreciated...
    H.
    Hawgman

    I've hit a similar problem since (or at least exaserbated since) changing to a new ISP service (BT Total Broadband) which included a wifi router upgrade.  LAN has a stable Win XP SP3 fully updated, a W7 also fully updated (I love Office) and a previously
    stable Zyxel router.  Then this occasional problem:  File -> Save As from any application stops dead for up to a few minutes, no CPU burn so waiting on interupt or external event.  Patience, then it works.
    So I'm guessing a confused IP table somewhere.  I'm off to play with using fixed IP addresses and lease expiries in the LAN part of the new router's config to see if that makes it easier for XP to handle closed connections.
    And isn't there a "not persistent" option somewhere ...
    But I don't networked drives, I use shortcuts with network addresses.
    More anon after some exploration.

  • RemoteApp and focus on dialog boxes

    We are publishing our applications to the user using RemoteApp.
    It happens rather often that when you do something in an app that causes the app to display a dialogbox or maybe just another window
    the new window will come up behind the app and impossible to get to. It seems it wont get focus properly and you cannot minimize the app in order to see the window that is requiring your action
    I have found a couple of notes about it but nothing with any sugestion to a solution or so.
    Anyone seen this before and knows anything more about it
    Owe

    I too also wonder if there is a fix for this, we are using win2k8 and using the SAP GUI 7.10 via a remote app deployment method, we often see users who when clicking on drop down dialogs loose focus and get the contents of the dropdown list overlayed on their last active window, e.g. Outlook, IE, etc...  our workaround to date has been to make sure they are using RDP 6.1 which seems to minimise the effect (but it still happens) and get them to click the SHOW ALL desktop button before going back into the remote app.
    We have also seen this problem with other remote apps, but less prevelant, presumably due to the different tcodes in SAP having more drop down lists than others.
    An ETA on this issue would be extremely useful, thanks for your time.
    EDIT: After re-reading my problem may be a bit different (although we do get the dialog behind a dialog issue occasionally), although this still relates to focus issues with remoteapps let me know if I should start another thread.
