More ATV V2.3 Update Problems

Does anyone from Apple look at these discussions? The V2.3 update made my ATV a useless brick. Like an idiot I blindly said yes to update the software when prompted by my ATV. After the update:
- I could no longer watch my synced movies without a lot of stuttering (almost like I was streaming it over a really slow connection.
- My synced music was also very slow to respond to playing.
- ATV would drop off iTunes device list and lock up ATV and iTunes ... like it was in a never ending loop trying to reconnect.
- I got errors that purchased iTunes music was not authorized to play on this Apple TV.
I tried to remedy by disconnecting from my PC and reconnecting and resync ... after it sat all night trying to sync one movie, i disconnected again and did a factory restor back to v2.0. now i don't have any of the advantages of later releases but everythign seems to be workign fine - with the odd exception that all of my movies synced, even the ones that were unchecked. it had to be the v2.3 update.
I suppose there's no way to get back to 2.2 ... which for me worked great.

I couldn't find the other longer thread about this, so for anyone having the same problems with V2.3, it appears that I stumbled across a fix for me this weekend I wanted to share.
I was having some of the same issues with V2.0 after doing a factory restore that I had briefly with v2.3. So I thought I'd give v2.3 another try and see if i could trace down the problem. When I updated to v2.3 again, it completely locked my system up (iTunes, Router, AppleTV, ...), and again felt, well, like an idiot for updating. But one by one I took my systems down and restarted. After taking down my network, it had lost power and reset to factory settings ... i.e., no security, broadcasting SSID, etc (not sure at what point this happened, but noticed it after setting up my wireless connection to Apple TV). After I set up my security again and turned off SSID broadcast, and restarted iTunes and Apple TV, the problems were better. but I still had a lot of stuttering trying to stream movies, and occasionally would get the error cannot read format on the movies I copied to iTunes using Handbrake. What i discovered was happening is that my wireless network was timing out with my computers i had streaming content to Apple TV. Apple TV connection was never lost, but instead of saying "lost connection to wireless network" or something useful like that, Apple TV would give these vague errors that it could not read movie format, or couldn't play the selected song.
So - here was my set up and here's what i did.
- Apple TV software v2.3 wirelessly connected to my network.
- Synced with Laptop running windows XP and newest v of iTunes. Synced library content to Apple TV wirelessly.
- Also streamed 2 other libraries from a PC and Mac Book Pro
the fix
- Apple TV still connected to network wirelessly.
- Wireless network with WEP password security.
- Connected my main synced library on Windows XP PC to network with Ethernet cable.
- Sync only pictures and titles, but stream all other content - that seemed to help a lot.
- Stream some content from a MacBook Pro.
After this new set up, all is working great. Never any stuttering, and no vague errors. The two things that seemed to help the most were connecting my main PC to ethernet as opposed to wirelessly and only loading the minimal amount of information on the Apple TV and streaming the rest. why none of this happened with V2.2, I don't know ... maybe it was all a coincidence, but it does seem like updating to v2.3 did something to my network and maybe resting that and starting over was part of the solution.
hope this helps.

  • Clicking on "View more information about this update" for 31.5.0 does nothing

I got a pop-up today that Thunderbird 31.5.0 is available. I clicked on "View more information about this update" because that usually takes me to the release notes and I prefer to read about updates and download and install them myself, rather than have the system do it for me. (I do this so I can save previous versions in case I run into a problem with the latest and want to go back.) But when I clicked on "View more information about this update" nothing happened. It didn't switch over to the browser nor start loading the release notes.

About 5-10 minutes after I had clicked on "View more information about this update" a few times (and had manually gone to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/31.5.0/releasenotes/ and downloaded and was in the process of installing the new release), my browser opened up three tabs on that page. I guess it was just a very delayed response.

  • Nokia N97mini Firmware update problems

As I understood there are more than one firware update version:
    Version 12.0.110 v4.0 and version 12.0.110 v4.01
How is possible to make the update, if phone autoamatically downloads from network provider wrong version?
    Nokia 1611, 2210, 3110, 5110, 6210, 6310, 6310i (up to these models totally satisfied)
Then don't remember model, then E50 (mostly happy), then N97 mini - phone with briliant keyboard, but poor touchscreen, then business phone E07, phone that can not make a photo of contract, invoice or business card. poor design of usb port and 5 months at service did it - my nowadays phone is Apple. Company gave me Asha 300, so frustrating, that I use my old E50 instead...

    Right, im back again
Ive been sat here thinking about how the phone works, long story short ive managed to fix the problem by trial and error, i still feel the phone is drawing too much power for some functions to work properley so ive deactivated my keypad tones and BOOM! no more reseting, ive also changed the profile i use as it seemed that the general sound profile caused the resetting, so if your haveing the same problems, as soon as you can press your Power button do so, then change to the silent profile so you can customise a 2nd profile that has the custom settings you desire.
IF this works for you and you had the same issue with the 06.10 software on the nokia 6280 on the 3 network, please let me know, lol.
Thanks again for your time, ill keep this thread up to date if any more issues crop up.

  • Update problem - VBDATA table

    Dear All,
We have update problems in our Quality systems, and also in every R/3 system that we create from a Production system copy.
Sometime the UPD and UP2 work processes hung without apparent reason.
In the SM50 I can see one or more of my update processes running for a lot of time (many hours) on the table VBDATA without perform any action.
In the tcode SM12 I donu2019t see any kind of lock, and I donu2019t understand why only sometime this problem happens.
Of course, from the SM13 I can see that during this problem the system is not able to perform any kind of update.
As I told in the beginning of the message, I have the same problem in other two R/3 systems, both created with a system copy from the production system.
The Production and the Developer systems seem not affected by this problem.
Have you got any idea about the reason of the problem?
Even if the Production systems is not directly affected, all the IT department is not able to work on the Quality system (or any other Test system), and the only workaround is to kill the UPD (or UP2) WPs affected.
    Thanks in advance,
    Federico Biavati
    My R/3 System is a 4.7 on SLES9 and Oracle 10.2.0.2

    Hello Siva,
    This is what I did:
    > Check how many entries do you have in VBDATA currently.
More than 1.000 in every SAP systems that Iu2019m creating from Production
    > You might want to run the reorganize updates program to clear the old updates
    > that are pending/in error
    Good point!!
After the reorganization (ST14 u2013 Reorganize update requests) the table VBDATA is empty.
Iu2019ll check and Iu2019ll let you know if the problem is definitively solved.
    Thanks for you help,
    Federico

  • Chart x scale update problem

    LabVIEW  8.5.1
    Sweep Chart Problem
The x scale values do not update until after the 2nd sweep.  The red line cursor gets to the end of the sweep and starts the next, but the scale numbers do not update until the next sweep starts.
It appears to be a problem with the chart, since it happens with any vi with a sweep chart.  I've used versions 6 through 7 for years and never seen this.  I've only recently moved to a new job with a new machine and version 8.5.1., so I'm not sure what to try.
    I've included a simple example.
    Thanks much,

You have a typical race condition!
There is no data dependency between the property node and the while loop, so in your case the loop starts executing first and the property node starts slightly later, immediately erasing the first point. Execution order is not defined.
All you need to do is add a data dependency, e.g. as with the error cluster in the image. This forces the property node to complete before the loop is allowed to start.
(Execution order is enforced even if the wire value is not even used inside the loop )
    Try it!

  • 10.5.7 update problems

After installing the 10.5.7 update, Mail, iTunes and iPhoto will not run anymore. Anyone else having this problem?

    jjtopspin wrote:
Before I came to these apple discussions re: update problems with 10.5.7, I tried to update this version yesterday and at the end of the download this message came up, the update "Mac OS X update" can't be saved. The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed to Apple.
I got the same message. The downloaded file that generated the message was only about 560 KB, indicating it was an incomplete download. I moved it to the trash & tried again. The second download attempt succeeded. I had a minor if nerve-wracking issue with the update (the blue looping screen reported in another topic in this forum) but after a forced shutdown & restart the update was completed successfully.
I have since updated my two other Macs so all those listed in my profile are now running 10.5.7. All do so without any problems & in fact work better & more stably than ever before.
I doubt that I'm unusual in this respect. Some users will have problems but I believe most won't, & for those that do most problems will turn out to be caused by something other than the update itself. So it has been for every previous Leopard update; I see no reason to think this one will be any different.

Do you get the RECOVER window in the computer?
IF not then you may have run into a PC problem.
IF you get the RECOVERY window then follow the instructions:
DON"T disconnect the USB Cable take the battery cover and the battery.
Connect the battery and battery cover, THEN hit RETRY in the computer.
Then count to three and press the ON button in the phone for about 1 second.
And this may recover it. IF it doesn't then disconnect and try to power up. If the phone doesn't power up then you may have to take the phone to a service point.
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • Edge update problems: to download previous version...

    Hi
For those people who are having problems with the update to Edge Animate CC 2014.1 and have deadlines to meet (and I count myself among them!), earlier versions are still available from Adobe, so its possible to revert to your preferred version.
Go to HTML animation | Download free Adobe Edge Animate CC trial and underneath where it says "In This Version" select the version you want from the pull-down menu. Then hit the big Download button to get it. We should thank Adobe for that!
If Adobe sees the number of downloads of the earlier version, it will also be a useful metric of dissatisfied customers. Unfortunately, this should have been clearly labelled as more than a point update, then we'd have some warning that there could be a problem with files created in earlier versions. I'm sure this is a fine piece of software if you're starting from a blank sheet, but its been a bit of a hindrance for those of us with older projects to work on.

  • Installation Problems, Permissions Problems, SW Update Problems, Solved

I'm posting here to relate some problems I've had and how I ultimately solved them, in the hope that it might help somebody.
The following relates to OS 10.5.4 on an imac PPC 1.8.
It started (at least the first symptom I noticed was) with Super Duper not working to auto-clone my drive, because the first thing SD does before running a clone job is to repair permissions on the subject drive. The repair permissions task failed with "the underlying task failed" error.
So I tried the manually repair permissions from Disk Utility and got the same "the underlying task failed" error. It's a bit alarming not to be able to repair permissions. I tried a reboot, no change. This persisted for at least a week as I didn't have time to aggressively go after it.
Then I purchased DiskWarrior (again - owned it years ago in Sys 9 days), as in my experience that was the "if all else fails" fix for everything directory-related. I booted from another blessed drive (do people still say that anymore? lol, showing my age) and ran DW on the drive in question. Sure enough DW found and fixed about 150 problems. Great I think, reboot from the original drive, run Disk Utility, repair permissions...nope! Same error. What now? I checked the console installer log for more and all the errors looked like "failure to write" permission type errors. Grr.
Verify Disk ran OK. I checked the SMART status and it was OK, as I was by now worrying about the physical drive.
Then along comes the 10.5.5 incremental update in Software Update and I get the following error: "The Installer could not install some files in "/" check permissions". Doh! Same thing with the Java update. Since I can't repair permissions I'm stuck.
So now I have only one course of action (well maybe there were others, but this is what I did) which was to do an Archive and Install. My OS X DVD is 10.5.0 so that is what I got of course when I reinstalled.
Running Disk Utility after the A&I allowed me to repair permissions successfully. Some progress. But now I had a slew of updates to get back to the present version of everything. Most installed successfully, except the 10.5.5 combo update. For that I got "package contents could not be validated". Rats.
So I decided (after reading here about SW update problems especially with combos) to manually download the 10.5.5 combo. For some reason running SW Update under 10.5.0 gave me download rates of 32kb/s, where I am used to 1.1MB/s. Projected download time 3 hrs....no way! So I booted back to my 10.5.4 clone and downloaded the 612MB at normal speed there. I downloaded the 10.5.1 incremental as well just in case.
Finally I was able to run the 10.5.5 combo (manually downloaded) successfully. Check Disk Utility and repair permissions...all good. Run SW Update and get the Java update, all good.
    Deep breath. Phew.
So there you have it. I was able to fix it all. I probably didn't need to buy DW (but it's so great I'm ok with that) as I conclude now that the A&I ultimately was the real fix. It was a very frustrating experience though, especially with SW update giving me a bad download.
I'm hoping that this post might now show up in searches and help somebody out there.
    Cheers

I don't think you have either of those kernels... as they don't exist.  I assume you meant that you are using 3.10.5 and supposedly have 3.10.6 installed.  You issue is a bit of a catch 22, as you are unable to mount the ESP (no vfat module matching your running kernel), yet mounting the ESP would be required in order to properly udpate.  I imagine that you actually have the correct kernel as /boot/vmlinuz-linux.  But whatever mechanism you use to copy it from that location to the ESP didn't work.
You are going to have to boot from live media, and fix this from a chroot.  Please search around for how to do this, as this information is all over the place.
Looks like I'm in for a treat. I chroot-ed, did a full upgrade in case there was an even newer kernel (and there was, 3.10.7). After the upgrade I copied /boot/vmlinuz-linux, /boot/initramfs-linux.img and /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img to /boot/efi/EFI/arch/ renaming the files vmlinuz-arch.efi, initramfs-arch.img, initramfs-arch-fallback.img respectively. I unmounted everything and rebooted. Now reFINd freezes as soon as it tries to boot Arch.

  • App Update Problems

I have experienced this issue with 4 different apps, that I know of, and am not sure how many other apps I deleted as being "useless" because of the same problem...
When any of my apps has an update, I prefer downloading the update in iTunes and then syncing my iPhone in iTunes to get the newly updated app onto my iPhone. However, for some reason, the updated apps do not include many of the features as described in the "What's new in this version?" section of the app description in the App Store. I have found that by deleting the app from my iPhone and then re-installing the app, whether by direct iPhone re-download or just re-installing it from iTunes when I sync the device, seems to produce the features as described and also restores much needed stability to many of the apps that constantly crash. However, I must then setup all my settings and preferences for the app again which is a nuisance for most apps, but some of my apps (like Car Care) have quite a bit of data I have added that I do not want to lose.
I have 119 apps on my iPhone and 180 in iTunes. I really don't want to have to delete everything and start over from square one just to simply update my apps which used to run incredibly smoothly (before the 3.0.1 software update). I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions as to how to resolve this issue. I initially thought the problem was with the app, but as I have now experienced the same issue with a few apps, I'm thinking it's more likely an iPhone software problem.

I updated the Car Care app the other day and when I filled up with gas today, I added the correct data (price per gallon, total gallons filled, type of gas, and new mileage). Despite showing the proper date when i entered the information, it became an entry from December 1, 1969 at 7:00 pm. Which is a little strange because I was not born until 1980, and I didn't get an iPhone until 2008 among other reasons.
This is getting to be ridiculous.

i've been working on my app for a few month now and i have about two more weeks until i finally submit it. everything went very good during development.. untill -

since my OS is 10.5.7, as i understand, i must install xcode 3.2.1. but this version also needs mac OS 10.6
so it's realy frustrating for me...
do i need now to upgrade/purchase OS 10.6 and also my xcode environment in order to continue working ?
can't i make a rollback to other firmware version supported by my current 3.1.2 xcode ?
i've searched the net endlessly and just couldn't find anyway to downgrade my firmware (i have a 5.11.7 baseband and 6.2 bootloader)

GRe: Zen 8G This device cannot start code 0 and firmware update problem?Hello Tbg99,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
Try booting the player in the recovery mode.
. While the ZEN is off, press and hold down the play/pause button.
    2. While holding down the play/push button, push the reset button slowly using a paper clip/pin. You should feel the "click" sound when press it.
    3. Slide the On/Off switch towards the power button and hold it down until the recovery boot screen appears.
Choose Clean Up then Reboot. If problem still persists, you may need to format the ZEN but take note that formatting will delete the contents of the device. To format the ZEN, boot the ZEN in the recovery mode again and choose Format this time.

  • Has the updating problem been solved?

My feed was approved earlier today, but I am having some problems getting my page on the iTunes store to update.

Modifications made to my initial episode are not appearing on my iTunes store page.
A test post that I added has also not appeared at the store.
Has the updating problem, which I saw posted about shortly before the new year, been solved?
