"More Profiles..." crashes all apps that try it

When I try to print from iPhoto or even Firefox to a new Canon printer, and I choose "Color Options" / "Colorsync" / "More Profiles...", the app crashes. I don't even know how to begin fixing something like this. Disk Utility "Repair Permissions" didn't help. I opened ColorSync utility and had it check all the print profiles and they're all fine (says ColorSync, anyway).
What do I try next?
N.B.: I have to be able to do this because I need to select the "Generic RGB Profile" in order to print test charts for use with my ColorMunki photometer. It's the only way to turn off all color management in the Pixma 9500 Mark II printer driver. This particular driver has no "Off" or "None" setting available for color management - trust me on this.

For future Googlers, this was a cache/preferences problem. I moved "~/Library/Preferences/ColorSync Cache" and "com.apple.ColorSync.plist" out of the way and the problem disappeared.

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

Well the next couple of things to try would be to reset all settings, and if that doesn't help, it's probably time to restore the iOS software.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. That will take all settings on the iPad back to factory defaults. It will not delete anything and you will not lose any data, but you will have to enter all settings again ...WiFi passwords, enable Siri, select your wallpaper, adjust brightness, turn on location services and set privacy settings, etc, etc.

Should you decide to restore the iOS, it is extremely important that you back up first so that you can restore from the backup and then sync with iTunes afterward in order to restore all content back to the iPad. It is all covered in the kb article.
If you do not sync with iTunes, then I assume that you backup with iCloud. In that case you can erase the device in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. Once again, backing up with I loud is I,operative before you do this so that you can restore from the iCloud backup after you erase the iPad and start over again with activation.

You don't need an app to do this. Here's how you get the battery info. Go to Settings>More>Battery. This will show you all the active apps and their individual battery usage.

All apps that take pictures crash when I take a picture. Is this a known bug?

I have multiple apps that can take a picture, and when I take pictures from within the apps, they crash. It is all the picture taking apps (except the onboard camera app). So, Twitter, Bank of the West, and Contact Snapper.

Basic troubleshooting steps right out of the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Try each step in order until the problem is solved.

Crashing all app on 3.1.2.

I have a problem for a few days. After updating to 3.1.2. when it came out everything worked just fine, but few days ago it started randomly crashing, restarting and showing "slide to power off"... 1st i restarted it and nothing happened than I tried to make a hard-reset and again it didn't solve the problem... As i wasn't at home I couldn't restore it... Than when i finally connected it to my Mac and sync it, everything worked again just fine, but for like 2-3 hours. So, yesterday I finally restored it, and thought that its going to be OK. But, in the morning (6-7 hours) after restore the same thing again... All app's are working normally, then iPhone restarts itself (which takes more than it usually does) and only Apple app's are working and others (Facebook, About Battery, Skype etc.) just flash for like second or two and crashes back to home screen, it seems that I managed to solve "slide to power off" problem, but not the other ones.
So, please help me out if anyone knows about a same problem and maybe a solution!
P.S. It's a completely legal iPhone bought at T-Mobile Store in Zagreb, Croatia.

Did you try to restore "as new iphone" instead of using your backup? There might be corrupt data copied back to the phone from that backup. Make sure to transfer your purchases before you restore.

DVD Drive unmounts and crashes any app that tries to access it...help!

I have a MacPro with a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR106d. All has been working well until recently.
Yesterday, I started a project to encode my DVDs for Apple TV using Handbrake.
When I insert a DVD, it spins up, mounts it, and allows normal operation.
However, once the drive spins down (e.g. after a rip), the drive unmounts and won't eject the DVD. I've tried ejecting it using the Terminal, but Terminal freezes. I've tried Disk Utility, but it won't get past the 'gathering information' stage. I've tried any other app that accesses the drive, and they all crash. Eventually, Finder itself crashes and won't restart (or allow me to shutdown).
The only thing to do is a hard-reset (ouch) which makes it work as normal.
Any ideas?
I've done a Permissions repair but no joy.

Really strange. If I 'catch' the drive before it's powered down and eject the disk once Handbrake has finished, it's fine - and will do another. If I leave it for a minute, the drive just switches off completely. So so strange. I wonder if Handbrake is to blame?
I've tried it on another user account as suggested, and it does the same thing. I'm going to try not using Handbrake and just play it, stop it, try to eject it and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

Can you share specific apps with other devices under same Apple ID? ...or do you need to enable he sharing of all apps that have been downloaded under that ID?

My family has multiple devices under one apple ID. I want to share only certain apps with certain family members. Is it possible to limit what apps are shared with which devices or do I need to share all of the apps that I download for personal use?

Thanks. I turned off the automatic downloads on the new devices (minis), but when I go into the app store I don't see any of the apps I have bought (for my original iPad) under "purchased". I was thinking that this was the logical place to find those apps that I want to download to the new devices. What am aI missing?

I have the same problem on my notebook but I don't restart. Just do the control, alt, delete and bring up your task manager. Then scroll down to Firefox, end process and close. Now you should be able to restart FF. Not a fix but better than having to restart your laptop.

TS1702 i can't open all apps that i manually installed. when i try to open one, it asks me to log in to my apple account and when i do it, it says that my apple id or password is incorrect. does anyone can help me to fix this problem?

iChat (it would help to know which version) can accept Apple IDs as valid AIM Screen Names.
However if you have iChat 5 or earlier you cannot use ones ending in @me.com or @icloud.com issued by iCloud. (they can be used in iChat 6 or Messages as these versions make a double login to AIM and Apple to allow the use of the password).
In addition if you are using an Apple ID for an AIM Screen Name the password still needs to keep to the 16 character limit that AIM has.
AN @mac.com name can be used on any version of iChat (Until the 30th June 2014)
As it does not need a double check with Apple you can use it to log in to the AIM Web pages
Login here with an AIM Name registered at AIM or and @mac.com name and see if you get any suspended account messages.
Sometimes account can be suspended. Usually because something has triggered the "Unusual Activity" item.
About a year ago many @mac.com users that travelled out of their own country found themselves suspended when they got home.
If the Name checks out of if an Apple ID the password in known to be 16 characters or Less then do this:-
In Lion upwards open a Finder Window and use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
Select the Library that appears in the menu list.
Navigate to Preferences.
(If you have version earlier than Lion the just navigate to ~/Library/Preferences (that's the Library in you Home - Little House icon - folder)
Fnd com.apple.ichat.aim.plist (even if you are using Messages)
Drag the file to the Trash and Restart the app.

Firefox won't open, error msg = can't find profile; deleted all app.data to rid new Win 7 Total Security virus - tried both v 4.0 & v 3.6 (now no error msg either). Can't open profile manager, can't open safe mode. pls help

My mother's computer was infected with the new "Win 7 Total Security" virus (apparently a fake antivirus program) - corrupted real av. To remove, we followed online advice to delete everything in AppData, for all programs, plus some other stuff. We moved it all to a flashdrive for safety, but after successfully removing virus, likewise cleaned & reformatted flashdrive. This apparently deleted Firefox profile(s), and after uninstalling & reinstalling, Firefox still won't open - I can't create a new profile. With v 4.0, I get an error message about not being able to find the profile. Found advice on how to open profile manager, but it won't open. Found reference to version 4 dispensing with profile manager, so tried installing version 3.6 again; still won't open, still can't open profile manager, but now no error message at all.

THANX for the reply cor-el. I've never had a problem using just "firefox -p", but i did use the full path like you advised after i read the profile manager article here before i posted my question. Unfortunately it didn't work. I've backed up all 3 profiles from the "%appdata% profile" file, and also from my remaining main profile that i'm on right now. I decided i'm going to uninstall ff3.6.28 & upgrade to "firefox 11" this weekend and hopefully create the other 2 profiles along with my main one. I do like in the newer versions of FF the tabs on top like googles chrome because it gives you more room on the page. I also like some other features too, but the main reason i kept my old version both times is because the newer versions didn't seem to load pages any faster than version 3.6.28. I'm not going to worry about some themes/personas not being compatible with ff11. I'll find some new ones. I think when i tried "ff9" awhile back along with my current version, i just deleted the shortcut that the article said to create on the desktop and still had all 3 profiles & no problems like i have now. In case your curious, the article on how to create more than one version of firefox at the same time was on the site "Dottech.org>[How To] Tip: Install multiple versions of Firefox to test before upgrading to latest release". It works but i obviously did something different this time that caused this problem. THANX again for your time/help, i do appreciate it.
