More Remote Server Management in a single Machine

Hello guys.
My doubt is the following.
I need to configure a machine that I have to serve 10 users at the same time.
To serve mean that every user should be able to use the same machine, each with a different profile, that everyone should be able to start the APP and anything else to mind their own business.
The reasoning is the same as those who use RemoteDesk on windows, or have more credentials to use the same machine but like I have different machines.
What is the solution?
- Create multiple virtual machines on the same?
- Install an APP like OS X Server to manage multiple users and install Apple Remote Desktop to any user who wants to access remotely?
I am totally confused ...
I hope for your help.
Best Regards
Al

thanks for your suggestion laurent,
If we are creating separate schema for each application in the same database, (assume we have more than 20 applications) whenever a user run their query from their application, hit ratio will be very low. So, we should configure shared pool, buffer cache etc accordingly (to avoid parsing). So, we need to configure entire database for its performance.
Because so many procedures and queries are running in each application. If we add one more application, no idea about the performance even if we tune the database.
Instead, we can create a separate instance for the new application and host the data in the new database. This application will use its own instance setting for its performance.
any suggestion

    Hi,

You can have several servers under one domain. No need to create a new
domain for each server. Just configure a server and make sure they are
listening on different ports. you are all set.

  • Is it possible to Run VM Server and VM Manager on a single machine

    Hi,
I'm trying to learn VM and I downloaded both the VM Server and Manager from E-Delivery. The guide says I need two separate machines for the VM server and VM manager.
Does this mean I've to install the VM Server first and then Install VM Manager on a different machine, create the Virtual Machines and then run the Virtual Machines on the VM Server?
If I've got only one laptop, does that mean I've to install the Enterprise Linux first, install the VM Manager, create all the VM Machines I'll need from the Installation sources, then install the VM Server on the machine a fresh and run the created VM Machines on it?
I'm relatively new to Virtualization and any help would be highly appreciated.

There are other messages about running OVMM in the first VM on an OVM Server.
Yes, Oracle supports them both being on the same physical system. They even supply a template for it.
I tried to install it yesterday, but hit a resource snag. The testbed system I have available only has 2GB of memory and the OVMM template installation script aborts if the OVM Server does not have more than 2GB of memory. So my experiments for a faster DR process will have to wait for better hardware.

  • Remote server cannont connect to this machine

I'm using datasockets in Labview 8.5 (Evaluation copy) to develop an OPC client application
to connect with a remote OPC server running Kepware.  I've tried a number of different
ways with no luck.  When I try to connect using front panel connections, I get the remote server
error cannot connect to this machine (check local permissions), but in the event log, the logon
audit is a success.  So I'm not sure what permissions need to be changed.  So far I have changed
DCOM security settings to allow Network user, the name of the OPC server, anonymous, everyone, access
permission for both local and remote and the same in launch and activation permissions.
I've tried using the NI OPC Client example and I just get an error 42, generic error.  I have spent my wheels
with this one and no prevail.  I downloaded the OPC Quick Client from Kepware, which I can use to connect
to the OPC server, but I do get a Failed to connect to 2.0 data access for group ...., but it still displays the
values once the items are selected.  NI Server Explorer works just fine and Iconics also.  Has anyone run
into this problem before and how did you fix.
    Thanks,
    Jay

Typically if the Kepware OPc Quick Client cannot connect to the Kepware OPC Server there are possibly more than DCOM issues involved. The first thing that comes to mind is that the OPCproxy.dll and OPCcomn_PS.dll on the 2 PC's are out of Sequence. You can easily verify the versions on each PC.This files should be located in the system32 folder.
The next thing we usually check is that Ole32.dll and OleAut32.dll are properly registered on both PC's.
To do this, go to the command prompt.
    Tyep regsvr32 ole32.dll
A dialog box should appear saying: DllRegisterServer in ole32.dll succeeded.
    Click OK.
    Now type regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
A dialog box should appear saying: DllRegisterServer in oleaut32.dll succeeded.
Click OK and type exit to close the command prompt window.
Reboot and try to connect to the server again.
Remember these files need to be properly registerd on both PC's.
If that does not work then you can always go the rout of opening DCOM as wide as possible. Things to consider are as follows.
COM/DCOM, which is what OPC uses as a core technology, does not work well, and usually not at all, across multiple domains.
It is intended for use in Domains which have a central Access Control List. If you are using a WG(WorkGroup) or WG to Domain or Domain WG you need to make sure the OPC users in the Domain are built into the local security account of the WG PC(s).
To open security wide, which should only be done on a secure network, You need to have System and Everyone with Launch and access permissions on all PC's involved in the OPC connection. You should set this at the computer level and not the application level.
We have found that for reasons only known to Microsoft we sometimes need to set Local Securty Policies. Specifically we see a need to sometimes Enable "Network Access: Let everyone permissions apply to anonymous users" and set "Network Access: Sharing and Security Model for local accounts" to "classic - local users authenticate as themselves".
With recent Microsoft security patches we have seen in some cases a need to add Network Users for Access and Launch Permissions.
If you have a secure network you can also add Domain Admins and Domain users.
Once you have achieved an OPC connection and transfer of data between KepserverEx and you OPC clients you can then start to restrict DCOM permissions again.
If you have any further questions about using KepserverEx with OPC Clients you can contact [email protected]

  • Remote Server Management

Is it possible to remotely manage (screen sharing, etc.) a headless Mac Pro running Snow Leopard Server without having to buy Apple Remote Desktop? Can this be done with mobile me Back to My Mac?
    Thanks for any help!

with proper nat port mapping on the firewall (you are using one, right?), you can use the server admin tools, ssh, and the built in screen sharing (accessible via server admin or directly with a vnc:// connection). so you don't necessarily need ARD, though it's a useful tool if you're managing a bunch of mac clients and servers.

  • Guideline needed for Multi-Remote-Server Management

    Hi all,
I'm busy with a project with multiple SQL servers, each with its own database.
The setup up is as follows:
6 SQL servers, where 1 is at the head office and the other 5 are remote branches.
I need to configure the following:
When Head office makes any changes to the Column: AveCost
in the dbo.STK_ProdPrice Table its needs to sync down to all the branches (when Head office does price increases on products). Now the update can run on a schedule (lets say 12am) so if the Table locks it would not cause any problems.
The SQL database structure for all SQL Servers are exactly the same (Exact same Tables, Exact same Column headings etc.)
What would be the best solution for this configuration?

One option is Replication : Make your head office server as Publisher and keep all other 5 as subscriber ( transactional replication ). There
is no limit to to the number of subscribers that a publisher can support.
Another one is AlwaysON -- You can consider using Always 2012 but it will support only 4 replicas, may be you can think about 2014, this will support 8 Replicas, and this will keeps your data in sync..

  • Windows Server 2012 Standard - Remote Desktop Management service won't start

Dear colleges, I'm seeking your help in resolving a weird issue with Remote Desktop.
The Remote Desktop Management service gives the following error message any  time it is attempted to start:
"The Remote Management Service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
The Event Viewer error message is as follows:
"The Remote Desktop Management service failed to start. Error code: 0x88250001"
Whenever I connect to the server with RD I get error message that the Remote Desktop Licensing Server isn't configured and that the RD trill will expire in N-days. The server is up to date updates wise and has been licensed for 5 RD CALs. The server hosts DNS
server and has AD DS role installed, is virtualized to have one Hyper-V server.
I read some blogs about having both DNS and AD DS on one box is a bad sea and a root cause of the issue. Well, that very well may be, but for me that's an option as I'm not going to get a box to just host DNS. There should a solution to this as I shouldn't
only one suffering from this issue.
I also read about KB2871777 - Servicing stack update supposedly addressign this issue. Well, it's on my system and the issue is there too. :)
Will I loose ability to RD when the trial expires or it's just another misleading MS message that can be ignored?
How do I mend Remote Desktop Management service to start?
    Appreciate your help!

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server forum.
Can administrators perfectly connect to RDS environment?
In meantime please check that you have properly configured and activated RD License role service and install RDS CAL on it. It might also possible that you have configured RD License server but it server can’t find it and giving you error due to certificate
also. Please check that you have properly configured certificate on your RDS Server. Try to install and update below hotfix for License related issue.
No RDS license when you connect to an RDS farm in Windows Server 2012

If you have configured both RDS and AD DS on single server then also you may find some error reading this. If so please try to setup both roles on different server and check the result. In addition to this, please check below articles.

  • HLP:Serving forms in 2 distinct envirs from a single machine

We would like to set up the forms and report server on a SINGLE
machine in such a way that the OAS
can serve forms to 2 distinct groups of users: Developpers and
    production users. Is this
possible ? If so, how do we do it ?
For example, say we have a form called 'A' that is used in
production. Now we have to modify and
test it in development. We only have 1 physical machine
available. Is there a way on only ONE
machine to serve Development form A to developpers and
production form A to production users ?
Of course we could have two versions of the forms and report and
    use different names, but this
solution is not really easy to manage....
What about the libraries (PLL) and icons (and all other
    attachable objects in FORMS)
    Say I have 2 directories:
    /disk1/dev/forms
    containting FORMA.FMX
MYLIB.PLL (Used by FORMA) (Actually, my cartridge
and forms server is set up to use these directories)
    /disk2/prod/forms
    contaning FORMA.FMX (Production version)
    MYLIB.PLL (Used by formA)
Do I have to set up 2 virtual directories ? 2 different forms
cartridges. 2 different forms server (on different ports)
For now, I only deploy in a single environment (DEV). The UNIX
environement from which I start the FORMS
    server contains stuff like:
    FORMS60_PATH=/disk1/dev/forms
+ setting specific to this environment (TK60_ICON, etc...)
How do I set it up to run forms in 2 distinct enviroments ?
What about reports variables (We are using the cartridge as well)
    Thanks

    Thanks wilfred,
yes I've read that manual. Probably not every single page ;-)
I agree that High-Availability is a very broad and complex topic, but my question is (although it was difficult to explain what i mean) only on a small part of it:
I understand that I can have mutiple instances on each level OC4J, HTTP, WEB-Cache, LBR But where or who excepts one single URL and leads the requests to the available AS
As mentioned in my post before, we may etst the Microsoft NLB-Cluster to divide the requests to the WEB-Cache Instances on the 2 AS and then the 2 Web-Cache proceed to the 2 HTTP and so on.
The Idea of that is that Windows offers a virtual IP-Adress from those 2 Windows-Server and somehow the requests will be transferred to a running WEB-Cache.
Does that work correctly with session-Binding ...
    We'll see
    thanks,

one that I need is to be able to tell what computer each RDS user is logged in from. We use this quite often so we can remote into that users computer for troubleshooting.
Does anybody know how to obtain this information in Server 2012 R2? If it's not possible in Server Manager, can it be done with Powershell? A 3rd party application?
So far the only way I have been able to do this is if there is still a 2008 R2 server on the network. I can log into it and use Remote Desktop Manager to connect to the 2012 R2 server. Since a 2008 server can still obtain this information for a 2012 server
there must be a way to achieve this.
    Thanks in advance!
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
In addition, the PSTerminalServices PowerShell Module might help.
    https://psterminalservices.codeplex.com/releases/view/65937
You can run Get-TSSession in PowerShell.
    Thanks.

  • Remote Access Management Console - configuration issue with Network Location Server

    2012 Std R2
The remote Access management console operation status shows  all green except for network location server .
Error: There is no response from the network location server URL. DirectAccess connectivity might not work as expected, and DirectAccess clients located inside the corporate network might not be able to reach internal resources.
    Resolution listed as:
    1. Configure the network location server on a server that is highly available to clients on the internal network.
    2. If the network location server is running on the Remote Access server, ensure that IIS is running, and that the URL is available.
The remote access server is located on this server. IIS is running. What URL: show I be looking at?
Any other thoughts so I can get remote access working.
l also am getting a remote access error for IPV6, could this be a cause:
RoutingDomainID- {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}: Unable to add the interface {D37062B2-A3E0-4496-A459-9E0BBCE5423C} with the Router Manager for the IPV6 protocol. The following error occurred: Cannot complete this function.

    Hi John,
please follow the steps to reinstall TCP/IP stack.
1.Restart your PC into Safe Mode with Networking.
    2.
Edit your registry. Delete the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Winsock
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Winsock2
    3.
Open the nettcpip.inf file in your %winroot%/inf folder
    (%winroot% is usually c:/windows).
Find the [MS_TCPIP.PrimaryInstall] section. Change the Characteristics value from 0xA0 to 0x80.
Open the properties of the network connection you want to fix. In the General tab, click on the Install button. Click on the Have Disk button, and point the location to %winroot%/inf. After that select TCP/IP (not version 6).
    4.
Now you would notice that you can uninstall TCP/IP!
Do that, then restart the PC.
Go back to your network connection, and install TCP/IP again as per the above. After another reboot, you should be up and running.
I also noted that the XP network repair tool may yank out the ISA 2004 firewall client stuff. Just run the firewall clinet repair or install it again to fix that problem after you did your reboot. Before you do this kind of crazy stuff.
    5.
This along with a TCP/IP reset using the netsh command:
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
wish you have a nice thanksgiving too
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Bug? Scheduling a single day X for a throughput deduplication job on a volume in Server Manager ... Volume Configure Deduplication becomes day X-1 (previous day) in Task Scheduler

Scheduling a single day X for a throughput deduplication job on a volume in Server Manager>...>Volume>Configure Deduplication becomes day X-1 (previous day) in Task Scheduler
Using configure deduplication for a volume in Server Manager, I selected a file age of 0 days (for the initial run), throughput optimization and for the schedule Tuesday at 11:24 pm.
Going to Task Scheduler>Microsoft>Windows>Deduplication the job is now Scheduled to run Mondays at 11:24pm
Changing the day to Monday using configure deduplication changes the day in task scheduler to Sunday ... and so on.

Just for your information, this bug still exists in Server 2012 R2. I just stumbled across it today.
