More WIPEdit plugin customization questions
Hi,
I see from another thread called "WIPEdit plugin customization" that you can NOT remove/hide the tool bars that show up in the MLT (i.e. copy, paste, bold, etc..).
I'm just wondering what other options are available as customization? I see that the wes_book.pdf talks about:
1. Edits in the wipedit.ini file to change user or server side custom dictionaries
2. A variety of WIP Edit ActiveX controls/API's to add buttons or how to display the forms.
Anything else that I'm missing that can be customized?
thanks!
Hi,
There isn't a way to remove\hide or restrict these options whether from the toolbar or right click menu in the WipEdit plugin. (or Documaker Studio Data Entry Check).
thanks

Changing Default Paste Functionality for the Wipedit Plugin
We have several forms that use the freeform paragraph functionality within the wipedit plugin. We have had issues with users pasing formatted text that contains special characters. We noticed that ctrl+alt+v allows for pasting of unformatted text. Is there an .ini setting that can be used to make the unformatted paste the default behavior all of the time using the standard paste and ctrl+v shortcuts?
We have had all sorts of issues with this as well. I have been unable to find a solution that works as of yet. From my own debugging it seems as if RP is trying to parse the pasted text as logo's, fields etc.... I am looking at potentially using a script w/ set interval to "clean" the clipboard data but this isn't a perfect solution for numerous reasons.
What is happening to your letters when the users paste? Our letters actually become unusable after a plugin save. So I am actually very interested in the answer to this question! -
I have inadvertently infringe copyright on facebook and they have subsequently barred me from uploading any more videos.
The question I need answered is ( and not able to find the answer on any of you help pages).....
Do the following have free copyright to publish on facebook and U Tube?
1.Garage band sounds?
2.Slide show...Sample music and Theme music?
3.iMovie...iMovie sounds and iLife sounds ie.Medal Ceremony and Memorial etc?
I note one can publish to shared net places directly from iMovie so one assumes these are copyright free for non-profit making and non-comercial use.
It is impossible to contact apple direct. No email address. We put our selves at risk without this knowledge and like applemac, facebook will not communicate direct. Will applemac please take responsibility for copyright/the above that they are all too willing to sell to us but not support us with that knowledge.
I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.2 (2009 bought in 2010)Thank you Klaus1.The large font, I copied and pasted from my mail box.I'm visually impaired...not to a huge degree but it helps to use the large font.I believe you are right about the copyright on the imac stuff but if facebook decide otherwise, you have to reply electronically to their challenge. If you can't provide a reference directly from the copyright owner then they remove the video.I believe this is a programmed response and no human is involved which now makes it impossible for me to get my video uploading restored. They detect added soundtrack automatically and then challenge. There are many others in the same boat and facebook will not communicate. They have various discussion sites on which I have left messages including Mark Zuckerbergs own facebook but I don't think anyone from facebook ever reads them.I intend to start a second facebook which I can use purely to get my videos uploaded as a lot of my friends enjoy them BUT don't want fall foul of their programming again. If only iMac would put something on the net to this effect.I think it is so unfair that with modern technology it is impossible to contact these large conglomerates personally and receive an email response.I tried emailing [email protected] but I got a failure notice. If you have any ideas on how to get verification from apple direct, I would be very grateful.Thank You.

Re: More specific to two questions
Hi everybody,
I have been watching this debate with interest. I encountered similar
situation and realised that even after calling the method
ReleaseDistReference on DistObjectMgr, the object is live ( Probably
some time before garbage collection kicks in) and can be binded using
ObjectLocationManager.BindObject() method. This caused some problems to
us. This object is not invalidated for further use. Can somebody from
Forte answer this ?

Hi, Boris
Your helps are really appreciated!
I've already read this part and other relevant materials of Forte
document.
So far, what I understand is if an object is anchored, the garbage
collector
will be not automatically applied to it. You must explicitly add it
to the
list of the garbage collection.
Also, many thanks to all who have helped me in this topic.
Merry Christmas!

Hi, Shi-Long
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already, but just in case...
Take a look at ReleaseDistReference method of DistObjectMgr class.
The following is an excert from Forte Help on the topic:
"This method is needed because the distributed object manager keepsa
list of all anchored objects that have been handed out asdistributed
references, or are anchored objects that are being used asdistributed
references in other partitions. Invoking the ReleaseDistReferencemethod
lets the distributed object manager remove the object from itsinternal
list, which can then allow memory management to occur on theobject."

WIPEdit Plugin settings for 11.5.3
We are evaluating the 11.5.3 WIPEdit plugin, and noticed an issue with tersubs. The ZS (Zero Selection) option doesn't seem to be working correctly; a tersub using this option has the 'Replace paragraph' button grayed out until you make a selection. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if there is a workaround; our forms were developed in Documaker Studio 11.2.9, so we can't use Paragraph Selection yet. Is there a setting for WIPEdit.ini that allows us to make proper use of "old" tersub functionality?
Thanks
TonyThere are no settings to know, because there aren't any unless you have a DVD player that will handle media player files or other such computer media. If you want a DVD then you need to consider other software. I am on Windows 7, and I use ProShow Gold to produce my DVDs.

More than 10 authentication questions?
Hi,
Is there a way to set more than 10 authentication questions on an account policy? E.g. via the API?
We're using Identity Manager 8.1.
Thanks,
Lachlan.Ok, good to know it can be done. I tried this, but it didn't seem to work unless the "id" attribute for each question had a valid value. Did you fill in the ids for the questions yourself? If so, how did you determine what they should be?

Like many Arch users I have a set of home-brew bash scripts that I use to customize my system post install. After my most recent clean up & refactoring of these scripts I had the sinking feeling that I was simply reimplementing a subset of AIF and decided to take another look at using AIF as my custom install solution.
AIF looks great. The first couple times I peeked at it I didn't get it, but those were early days when I was fresh to Arch and still getting to grips with how things worked. I feel like I have more of a handle on things now and I'd like to put together a "gentle introduction" page about AIF at some point, based on my own "learning AIF" notes that I've been compiling. I have some outstanding questions that I'd like to get some feedback on, listed below.
AIF INFORMATION SOURCES
I have used a variety of sources to draw on during my research into AIF. I would appreciate any pointers to other sources that I might be missing.

OUTSTANDING QUESTIONS:
I have a couple questions that I'd appreciate feedback on. Apologies if I've missed anything obvious.
QUESTION 1: Custom Config File Installation
I was reading through the arch-releng mbox archive and am certain I came across a couple mails by Dieter addressing this in 2009, but for the life of me I haven't been able to locate them again. Dieter, I'd welcome your comments here if you have time.
There is a class of config files that are installed by existing core packages but which require customization in order to properly function on a given system. A good example of this is /etc/acpi/handler.sh .
To date I have been handling installation of these files in one of several ways:
heredoc used to write out a file
keep file in a special overlay subdirectory in relation to my post-install scripts and copy over from there
With AIF, it is less clear to me what the best approach is (again, I swear I read an arch-releng mail from Dieter about this from 2009). Options I can envision include:
Custom aif lib to copy a file from a subdirectory, wgetting or a vcs repo. I'm ok with writing this/repourposing my existing code and making it AIF friendly, but not sure this is the best solution. I'm also not sure where the best location for these custom config files would be in relation to the the custom profile (to which they seem most related). I'd like to keep them "close" to the profile itself (i.e. not scatter my profile and config files into disparate repos or directory structures).
Custom aif function to take heredocs from the AIF profile (since these files are specific to a system) and write them out. This would bloat the the AIF profile a bit, but isn't the worst solution. I've used this approach before in my custom scripts, it just requires some scripts to easily update the heredocs in the profile from current system configuration.
Custom package to install just the config (seems needlessly complex, particularly when the package is just to copy over a file, likely on top of a config already installed by another package)
Unknown AIF native solution. Something I'm missing?
So what's the best approach to installing these must-customize files during AIF? Any of the above or something I've missed?
QUESTION 2: daemons, modules, config file values
This is touched on in a mail from Dieter on Mar 31 2009 (http://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/ … 00469.html) but I'm not sure that there is a current best practice solution. If I'm missing a function in AIF, major apologies and someone please point me in the right direction.
This question is similar to the above question of config files. When an existing config file shouldn't be overwritten completely, what's the current best-practice method of modifying it? Classic example is /etc/rc.conf adding and removing
daemons, modules, etc.
Personally, I have a custom lib function I use to add/remove daemons, modules, and individual config file settings (taking into consideration the @daemon variations), and I'm happy to use this as a custom lib in my AIF installs (or clean it up and propose a patch), but I wanted to make sure I'm not duplicating effort here.
I appreciate anyone that can take a moment to provide information on these issues.altercation wrote:
Dieter, thanks so much for the (amazingly rapid) reply. I'll focus on reviewing the functions you've mentioned. Augeas looks interesting. I'll probably start by repurposing my existing code and will post once that's done.
A couple final questions:
Are there any (yours or others) custom AIF profiles/procedures you consider to be good examples (since the unofficial subdir is outdated)? Are your own profiles posted somewhere else on github?
Are you copying your own custom libs/procedures into /usr/lib/aif/user/* before using them? Or do you reference them otherwise?
Again, this is a huge help in understanding how to make use of AIF.
Ironically, all my available "arch dev time" is going into AIF itself. I once had the goal of completely automatic my home deployments with nice aif configs (in fact, this was the whole reason I started AIF in the first place) but I didn't work on that for a long time.
About the "own custom things", I forgot how that works, but the README says
* user modules -> /usr/lib/aif/user/<module name> (put your own modules here)

More ACR for elements questions
After having played around with ACR 4.1 I have a few questions and observations:
Not all the the features described as being in 4.1 in this article
http://photoshopnews.com/2007/05/31/about-camera-raw-41/
seem to be accessible, e.g. holding down the alt key while looking at radius and sharpening values to see the masks applied. Are these features available from CS but not in elements (It's the same plugin) or were they never implemented in 4.1 but only in some beta copy of the SW?
As noted in different msgs, there is scarcely any documentation for ACR 4.1 except what I can glean from articles like the one above and from trial and error - am I correct in this assessment?
If I bring the raw file into elements, some of the functions can work on 16 bit files but for most I must permanently convert down to 8 bits. How much print quality am I losing for 11x14 blowups during this process? I guess I'm losing none in resolution (PPI) but a little in gradations of color and luminosity.
How does this raw pre-processing in ACR compare with the new Nikon Capture 4 ( I have a D40x) ? Is it worth having both sets of SW? I couldn't find a price for Capture4 in the website - only a 30 day download trial. Anybody have any idea how much it costs?
Now if I would only go out and shoot some more photos instead of nerding out on the tech stuff!! Thanks.
ChrisThanks Barbara - you wrote:
Your printer will almost certainly downsample your image to 8 bits when you print, so you're not losing there. The loss, such as it is, is in the available gradations of color for editing.
Is this the case If I get it printed at a photo printing/editing store (we have Mtophoto here in CO which I really like because a couple of the guys there really know their stuff)? -
Enterprise Manager 11g Sybase Plugin architecture question
Hi,
have successfully installed and configured Grid 11g on RedHat Enterprise 5.5. Deployed and configured agents to solaris and linux environments..so far so good.
However, we're going to test the Sybase ASE plugin to monitor ASE with EM. My question is a simple one and I think I know the answer but I'd like to see what you guys think of this.
We'd like to go with a simple centralised agent rather than one agent/plugin per sybase machine, atleast for the tests. No doubt there may be pro's (first one clearly being one of a single point of failure - welll we can live with this for now) to this approach. My instinct is to install the oracle agent/plugin on a machine other than the grid machines itself, however the question arose - why not install the ASE plugin on the grid infrastructure machine agents themselves? Pros and cons?
The architecture we have currently : repository database configured to failover between 2 redhat boxes. 2 OMS running 1 on each of these boxes configured behind SLB using nfs based shared upload directory. One 'physical agent' running on each box. Simple for now. But I have the feeling , given that the Sybase servers will communicate or be interrogated via the sybase plugin directly to the grid infrastructure machines placing load etc on them , and in case of problems might interfere with the healthy running of the grid. Or am I being over cautious?
John
Edited by: user1746618 on 12-Jan-2011 09:01well I have followed the common sense approach and avoided the potential problem by installing on a remote server and configuring the plugin on this.
Seems to be working fine and keeps the install base clean.. -
More specific to two questions
Hi,
First of all, many thanks to Rottier, Daniel, Geoff. Your ideas are
definitely useful.
Regarding two questions I posted yesterday, I’d like to give you more
background information so that it will make questions more specific.
Now we have a lot of applications (programs) written in either C, C++,
Java codes or Forte (maybe other language like VB). Our purpose is to
integrate all the codes written for the different platforms such as
Windows NT and UNIX together seamlessly through CORBA or CORBA-IIOP
(Internet Inter-Object Request Broker Protocol). The most difficulties
I have met so far are to pass an object by its value. As you know,
CORBA specifications, version 2, don’t support the concept “pass object
by value”. But currently, some of CORBA vendors such as Forte and Iona
(OrbixWeb) do extend the concept “pass by reference” and support the
concept “pass object by value” for Java Mode not for IDL (Interface
Definition Language) Mode. If we want to integrate all codes together
without the support of “pass object by value”, the following question I
need to answer is the garbage collection in the Forte server side. In
CORBA IDL mode, I have to set all IsAnchored attributes of all objects
to TRUE. Can these objects be garbage collected? If yes, how does the
garbage collection work?
Please note that the client (C, C++, Java or other language) and the
server (Forte) are written using different languages (not limited to
Forte)! The question I posted can be much complicated if the client and
server are written in the different languages and for the different
platforms (NT and UNIX) as well as applied to the distributed and
multithreaded environment.
To be exact, if one of the multiple remote C++ clients decides not to
access the objects (not limited to service objects) in the Forte server,
how does Forte garbage collection know what the client has done
automatically and garbage collect the object? It is known that CORBA
does not support garbage collection. Is there any functionality
provided by Forte to let itself be automatically notified? As we know,
COM and DCOM do have such kind of functionality. When you integrate
DCOM with your applications, at both sides (client and server), it is
DCOM who internally poll the object references periodically. How about
CORBA and Forte? Forte has integrated IIOP as its own built-in
component and supported VisiBroker and IONA CORBA products. My guess is
because Forte has IIOP built in itself (both sides have to run ORB), so
Forte has the full control over the whole running environment, and can
monitor the references to the objects, and apply the garbage collection
to the objects automatically. Is this true? Here are the key words:
multiple, remote (distributed), different platforms and languages,
CORBA-IIOP. We should take all of these things into our consideration.
I did find that there is a big difference between IsAnchored set to TRUE
and FALSE when I tried to integrate C++ client, Forte server and Java
client, Forte server. For the C++ client, you have to set IsAnchored
attributes of all kinds of objects to TRUE. Note that In Forte, the
service objects and the ordinary objects are treated differently. The
service objects are created by Compiler or Interpreter. It is
transparent to the users. The ordinary objects are created at run time,
garbage collection can be applied to. For Java client, you can either
set IsAnchored attribute to TRUE or FALSE depending on what you want
(access the services provided by Forte server side by value or
reference). This really answers the question: IsAnchored can control
pass object by value or reference, and really matches what you guys
talked about in your e-mail. My thoughts are that IsAnchored has
nothing to do with the garbage collection, otherwise this will disable
the garbage collection at all! Because I have to set all IsAnchored
attributes to TRUE at Forte server side for my C++ client, if the
garbage collection is really based on the IsAnchored attribute, this
means that the garbage collection is totally disabled for all those
objects with their IsAnchored attributes set to TRUE! Can anyone
confirm that? Don’t forget that this issue is raised in such
complicated environment! What I want to clarify is whether Forte does
provide such a garbage collection mechanism so nice, so smart to
automatically maintain a persistent object reference table or whatever
and deal with the garbage collection issue in such complicated
environment!
Believe this can make my questions much specific and clear. I’d like to
discuss more details about it.
Thank you again for your informative ideas.

Vcac6.x blueprint customization question/problem
Hi Guys,
I just started with Vcac6.x blueprint customization
I have a problem with my new blueprint that i have created concerning the customization
Blueprint exist out of the VM template ( created in Vcenter ) with customization spec (also created in Vcenter )
The Blueprint have 2 fixed volume drives ( C and D ) but i have created 4 build profiles to extend this template with 2 more volumes ( L & B Drive)
build profiles are like:
Name HDD B drive
VirtualMachine.Disk2.Size 20
VirtualMachine.Disk2.Label Backup
VirtualMachine.Disk2.Letter B
Name HDD L drive
VirtualMachine.Disk3.Size 20
VirtualMachine.Disk3.Label LOG
VirtualMachine.Disk3.Letter L
VirtualMachine.Admin.UseGuestAgent TRUE
VirtualMachine.Customize.WaitComplete TRUE
Problem is when i deploy with the blueprint it's getting deployed but the B & L Drive are not there in the OS. When i check the settings of the VM i see there 4 VMDK. It seems like the drive are added to the VM but not configured in the OS
the VM template is a windows server 2012 R2 and the guest agent has been installed. Is there anything i can check so that this can work
Kr
KoenGuys,
I found it. the agent couldn't reach the https://youriaas.vcac.x
Network adjusted the firewall and it works from one template
Now i've got an other problem
We have a template for Win 2012 R2 ( created in the past) and here i have installed my guest agent. in the template i can reach the https://youriaas.vcac.x/ and my cert.pem is 2kb. Which is good
I created the blueprint with the template and also defined the customization spec (Vcenter). I added also a customization for my D Drive - 20 gb. And i published it to the catalog
build profile is like:
Name HDD D drive
VirtualMachine.Disk2.Size 20
VirtualMachine.Disk2.Label Data
VirtualMachine.Disk2.Letter D
To test i did a request but here i noticed that only one disk is visible ( C drive ) and not my other volume ( D Drive )
But when i adjust the blueprint with my working template then i see in the request that the D drive is visible. Any checks that i can do or would the template been corrupted and should i start with a new vm and install my guest agent on it and convert it to a template --> created blueprint --> ...

OBIA 7963 - HR Analytics - Customization Question
**Issue Description:** : OOTB Headcount calculations should exclude group of people who are called as non executive directors (NED). There are no indicators/ Flag in the source system to identify who is NED in a particular point in time. There are some CSV files (Outside source system) with the list of employee who they identified as NED between two dates
Proposed Solution:
I am planning to use this CSV as lookup file for the incoming source data and stamp employee records with NED_IND (Y/N or 1/0) between two dates, however I have following questions
1. Should we stamp this NED_IND flag in Employee dimension (W_EMPLOYEE_D) which is designed as Type 2 SCD OOTB or
2. Should we stamp this in workforce fact table (W_WRKFC_EVT_MONTH_F) as a NED_IND indicator flag (1 or 0), so that this flag will be available as part of snapshot calculations
Considering the fact that OOTB Workforce fact process is reasonably complicated with series of mappings both in Full and Incremental load, would you suggest any of above mentioned solutions or any better solution so that we can reduce unnecessary customization of OOTB ETL and preserve existing logic?
Thanks in advance for your time
Venkat GA few things to consider:
1. If you are trying to alter the actual "Headcount" metric, then you need to edit the FACT tables. This includes the EVENT as well as the MONTHLY snapshot. You may also need to modify the logic of the "ACTIVE/INACTIVE" flag...as this is what is used to calculate the headcounts. Essentially, edit the SDE to bring in the NED FLAG, and then modify the logic for how OOTB "ACTIVE/INACTIVE" is calculated.
2. If you are running reports that use EMPLOYEE DImension, and you want to also see if the Employee is NED or NOT NED, then yes, you should also add this to the Employee Dim. Also, suppose that an employee can BECOME NED...if you need to capture this history, then you need to add the SCD logic. Also, if an existing employee can become NED..you may have to alter the incremental logic to modify both the DIM and the FACT.
What may be simpler is just to modify the SDE mapplet to use the LOOKUP for NED..and flag those as INACTIVE in the SDE itself...in which case you do not have to modify the downstream ETLs.
Hope that helps. Pls mark correct or helpful. -

I'm trying to send the argument using select box(drop-down) to draw a chart.
2. Can I create chart dynamically?
I have to create charts dynamically by input parameter. It may 2 or 3.
3. Is it possible to make 2 kinds of data on one chart ?
I want to display 2 kinds of data using time series chart.
(For example, Player A's score, Player B's score.)

Edited by: wonjo on Sep 2, 2010 7:12 PMWhat documentation source are you using to develop your EM plugin? In regards to the UI questions you are asking, are you using the EM Reports (information publisher) framework? Your first 2 questions would not be possible to accomplish using the 11.1 extensibility framework. You should be able to accomplish your question #3 with the reporting framework or the Homepage Charts capabilities. Future releases of EM (EM 12.X+) extensibility framework should allow for EM plugin integrators to write custom UI (as you are asking about with your questions).

I am somewhat new to FCE. I've been playing with it for about four months now, and I have made some great movies so far.
Most of my editing has been pretty basic. I am slowly hoping to learn more about newer plug-ins/effects, as I would like to use them in future videos. One that I have noticed in a movie on Vimeo I am in love with. The problem is I have no Idea where to obtain effects like this, and how to go about getting them.
If anyone could help it would be great. The link is http://vimeo.com/17624183 and the effect comes in at about 27 seconds.
Also, I would love to hear recommendations on which plugin/effect package I should obtain based on price and quality. I will be doing mostly sports highlight videos.
