Most Difficult to Migrate from JDEV 10.1.2 to 10.1.3

Hi Oracle Team,
I have developed new application from scratch containing 700 pages from struts based to Jdeve 10.1.2 with UIX , Struts Controller , BC4J ( ViewController ,Model) based architecture of Jdeveloper 10.1.2.
Now oracle annouced that UIX will be no more part of 10.1.3 , I have to migrate once again to JSF based instead of UIX.
It's really annoying to see big companies coming with some framework and going back to make it absoulete.I have posted many threads regarding migration of my apps to JSF based ,but i could not see any proper reply or any straight path that do this migration stuff.
Here is my architecture
ViewController-Model (
1.Jdeveloper 10.1.2
1.UIX page with lot of javascript validation.
2.Struts Controller (how should i migrate this)
3.BC4J
4.Jheadstart plugin for generating pages in 10.1.2
I would appreciate , if you can show me any good way of doing migration with
less housekeeping.
Thanks a lot,
Hasam

Hasam,
We do have a uix to JSF migration utility that you can get through the check for update center. The missing part there right now is that it doesn't support uix template migration.
If you are using jheadstart you might want to post your question on the jheadstart forum as well they might be able to do the migration through their repository.
And remember that if your application is working now and your customers are happy then you don't have to migrate it.

  • Error while migrating from JDev 11.1.1.3 environment to 11.1.1.6

    Hi,
    I have developed a BPEL process including Human task and Business rules on JDeveloper 11.1.1.3. The human task worklist page and its project were autogenerated and then I was deploying both the projects from Jdeveloper to weblogic 10.3.3 server and it was working fine.
    We needed to migrate the same project to JDev version 11.1.1.6 and for this I have imported the two projects into the new workspace and JDeveloper itself migrated the project to thie higher version.
    However, while using the same deployment process and deploying on compatible weblogic server, I am facing issue while deploying worklist application and following appears on the domain log:-

    Also when I see the libraries and classpath of my project I see ALE components jar marked in red.
    My Composite gets deployed, and the issue comes only with worklist project.
    Please suggest how to approach to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    actually there is no backward migration path if you used Facelets for building your pages. For page fragments you will need to manually change ui:composite to jsp:root tags. To ensure web.xml is setup correctly you should create a new project in 11.1.1.6 and copy the web.xml over (ensuring the web.xml is configured for ADF use). Probably copying the content of the JDeveloper 11g R2 project into the 11g R1 project and then fixing problems is the way to go. As said, there is no automated backward migration path

  • Issue migrating from Jdev eloper 11.1.1.0.2 to 11.1.1.2.0

    Hi,
    I ha migrated my application and I did the following:
    1. Open app in 11.1.1.2.0, I accepted all wizard default options
    2. Build->clean all
    3. Right clic rebuild model and view contoller projects
    4. I got errors as "class not found" in my view controller, but the class are in the path. I think that is because the dependences not were correctly mapped.
    5. I solved compiling each class that is not referenced and I make rebuild and 0 errores, but if I make clean again and rebuild, the errors appears again about references to class.
    thanks for yours suggestions.

    I have already checked the path of both projects in my applictaion, and is fine. However, checking dependencies, i found that in the Model project, was a call to a class in the ViewController project, which get some parameter needed for the EO to work. I removed that call to the ViewController class from the EO, and removed the associated import. After that, my entire application compiled.
    Now I need to know hot to get a session variable from an EO class, to supply that parameter that was getting from my ViewController class before.
    Thanks

  • Plans for migration from JDev 10 to JDev 11

    Hi
    I just review online demos for JDeveloper 11, and I have a question about future migration path. In our company we now create applcaions in 10.1.3 version - (jsp not jspx pages - maybe it is mistake ?). It will be possible in future to migrate our ADF Faces applicattons to 11 version. Graphs and tamplates in new version are very impressive :)
    Kuba

    Hi,
    you can upgrade applications from 10.1.3 to JDeveloper 11. However, this will take your application and run it as it is just using the newer components. So upwards compatibility is a primary goal.
    However, we don't think we can automate the upgrade of an ADF Faces application of today to e.g. an ADF Faces Rich Client Framework application because of the changed lifecycle.
    Its too early yet to say what will be possible and what isn't.

  • Problem with servlet after migrating from OC4J to WebLogic 10.3

    I come across a problem when I was migrating from jDev 11g TP4 to production version in that step also server got changed from OC4J to webLogic.
    I am running java http servlet along other jspx pages. When everything was on OC4J there was no problem whit security on this servlet ( servlet was under same authorization automatically, and I was able to create new application module on this servlet by createRootApplicationModule
    ) but when I changed to WebLogic 10.3 I come across a numerous problems. First one is solved i managed to put the servlet under same authorization as jspx pages by
    *&lt;servlet&gt;*

    *&lt;servlet-class&gt;path.to.class&lt;/servlet-class&gt;*

    but when I trying to create new application module I get JBO-30003 error which is Caused by:

    Has anybody any idea what I am doing wrong?

  • Migrating from Weblogic Portal 4.0 to 8.1

    Hi folks,
    do you know of any handy migration guide for old Portal 4.0. I have found myself migration guides from 4.0 to 7, and from 7 to 8.1, but i need a more direct migration from 4.0 to 8.1 . My company needs to estimate migration efforts/costs for a large base of portals.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi sparihar, thanks for quick response!
    Let me ask, why wouldn´t you recommend direct migration? Gathering around the forum had found some posts complaining about the difficult task migrating from ver 4 to v. 7, does a whole app rewrite in 8.1 makes sense i.s.o. a double migration?
    TIA,

  • Migrating Application from JDev 10.1.3.5 to JDev 11.1.2.2.; WebLogic issues

    Hi,
    I've been in the process of migrating an application we have from JDev 10.1.3.5. to the most current release. This involved migrating from OC4J to the WebLogic Server. After clearing up code-related issues, I have been trying to mitigate errors that came from deploying the application to the WebLogic server. I fixed (or so I think) the original error(see immediately below in italics) by deleting the servlet tag in both of the web.xml files (ViewController and Deploy) that are within the application. I also changed it to 'adfLibResources' per a previous thread on this topic.

    I think your web.xml that is a part of the application had the following:
    <taglib>
    <taglib-uri>
    http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces
    </taglib-uri>
    <taglib-location>
    /WEB-INF/lib/adf-faces-impl.jar
    </taglib-location>
    </taglib>
    I think this is not even your configuration but something that JDev added, thus you can consider testing removing this part of the code and test your application and verify the functionality.
    Regarding the possible issue during migration from 10g to 11g of Jdev, you can review the following thread:
    Class not found : oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.taglib.UIXPanelTag
    The missing class is a part of "adf-faces-impl-1013.jar" which seems to be specific to the JDev 10g, thus might not be even required by JDev11g.
    Also regarding the fact that how this seems to be an issue with missing class, please review the following API doc for better understanding of the classnotfoundexception:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/ClassNotFoundException.html

  • Very difficult migration from MS Access to Oracle with SQL Developer

    Dear Developers
    I have tried to used for one Project Oracle Sql Developer Migration from Access to Oracle (Application Express). Was about an evaluation if Oracle Express (with Application Express) or Mysql (with PHP) as target database.
    I am working with Oracle for 14 years and i earn my money in projects related with Oracle. Of course i am sentimental and i push every time when an opportunity comes to have as an option Oracle.
    This time beside my sentimental approach the decision was different.
    I will tell you why and i hope that someone there will listen and make something for a better Product.
    I was trying yesterday the whole day to migrate an Microsoft Access database. A nightmare....
    1. Microsoft Access Exporter 2000 was too slow. For a 25 MB Access database, running time was 15 Minutes. And 15 minutes to obtain an undocumented error. I followed your instruction and eliminate all references etc... as you described in HELP. a lot of time necessary to read and do..... After that i obtained an Error #..16. Sorry that i don't provide you with an exact number error. i don't have it right know and personally i am not interested anymore. For this error i don't find nothing in forums about it.... Search again and again..... Every time after waiting 15 Minutes in which you don't know exactly what application does or if really does something. I decided to delete sequentially macros, modules, forms, querys from Access database and see where Exporter stops... Time and time lost for trying and searching.... Finally i obtained my XML file only by keeping my Access tables. The file was produced even if i obtained at the end Error #5:..... Because was an error i am not really sure if the file was completly consistent with my database.
    2. I followed the next steps and with some errors (enabling, disabling constraints, objects couldn't be created because of different reasons) i had my Model and Oracle Schema. I have tried to export the data from Access and import it in Oracle. data exported was in UTF8 and SQL Loader Control file doesn't have
    LOAD DATA
    character set utf8
    So i tried to add the string "character set utf8" in my dozens of CTL files - with a freeware of course.....
    Maybe you can say that if i knew that from the beginning i would have set my character set in SQL Developer. I don't know and i will not ever try with this product!
    So finally after hours of working and trying and playing with my nerves, reading a lot of forums and documentation, i had an Oracle schema, maybe incomplete because of different errors at so much migration stages.
    And now i have tried for the first time in my life MySQL Migration Toolkit. I read that for migration to MYSQL this tool is what i needed.
    I recommend you to try the product and see something about the quality required for a piece of software. Is not enough if your product runs OK with Nortwind DEMO Access database. It should run OK with all ACCESS databases.
    With the tool i have done the job in 5 MINUTES. Simple, efficiently and without errors. At the end i had the SQL Scripts and the DATA imported in the database.
    Difficult to say something now. I am sentimental but i asked mysef if you can do something to improve the quality of the product.
    What arguments can we provide for a client in Migration from Access to Oracle ???? Can you honestly answer at that?
    Please try this MYSQL Migration Toolkit.....Maybe this give you some ideas about simple tasks and about what we really need...
    Best regards
    Adrian

    Dear Barry and Kgronau
    Thank you very much for your response. My Post was after a long day of trying to import an MDB file.
    Maybe you can understand why i was so angry...
    Yes i understand that your tool try to do more than other even if actually you don't really convert too much.
    From Modules to make some procedures where the whole code is commented! .....
    For other MDB which i tried to import in APEX the forms where really not usable. Queries are full of errors requires most of the time manual corrections.
    I am sorry that i can not provide you with this MDB which cause these problems.
    Data and software doesn't belong to me and the company which own it can not provide to you.
    What i hope from your product is, even when errors come, to show a better error explanation. At what object in Access error ocures ? This is very important because i can correct my MDB or just delete the module,form,query in cause if SQL Developer doesn't like it....
    Just showing an error Error #.... doesn't help me too much. And if an error occurs i don't know if program continues to work or is dead. No information about this. Maybe you can show that your application is alive and does something (working status etc...) ! Anyway we wait long minutes in front of dead screen....
    Again, thank you very much for your attention
    Adrian

  • Migrating an application from JDev 10.1.3 to JDev 10.1.3.2

    Hi,
    I am having trouble migrating an application made with JDev 10.1.3 to 10.1.3.2.
    Everything is fine when I run it on the embedded OC4J, but when I try to deploy I have problems.
    The application is deployed on OAS 10.1.3R3.
    What I have done so far was to install the new ADF libraries using ADFinstaller, editing server.xml as per Note:417812.1 and include adf-faces-api.jar, adf-faces-impl.jar, jsf-api.jar, jsf-impl.jar and adfshare.jar from JDev 10.1.3.2 to my project WEB-INF/lib folder.
    Some pages are working as they should, but when a date is to be displayed I have this error:
    javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.jbo.domain.Date.timestampValue()Ljava/sql/Timestamp;So, am I missing some jar to be included? Have I missed a step or two?
    Thank you for your help.
    adsm

    Solved.
    For some reason, once the application has been migrated, the following lines were added to orion-application.xml:
        <imported-shared-libraries>
            <import-shared-library name="adf.generic.domain" min-version="10.1.3"></import-shared-library>
            <remove-inherited name="adf.oracle.domain"></remove-inherited>
        </imported-shared-libraries>
    -------I do not know if the migration tool was directly responsible for this. Anyway, as this project has been migrated time and time again from a JDev version anterior to 10, this kind of thing was bound to happen someday.
    Cheers,

  • Migration of ADF project from JDev 10.1.2.2 to JDev 10.1.3.1; Model cloning

    Is there a way to migrate an Oracle ADF project, specifically a Model using ADF Business Components from JDev 10.1.2.2.0 to JDev 10.1.3.1.0?
    Is there a way to create a clone of a Model using ADF Business Components from one application to be used in another application, w.o.w. to re-use a Model from one application in another application?
    Thank you in advance.

    For some reason my example code was erased from the message.
    I based my general method on following one:
    see:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/10g/jcmultiform/index.html
    int count = 0;
    private DCBindingContainer createDetailBinding()
    String detailBCName = "DetailFormUIModel"+count;
    if (panelBinding.getBindingContext().get(detailBCName) == null)
    DCBindingContainerDef bcdef = DCBindingContainerDef.findDefObject("sample.DetailFormUIModel");
    DCBindingContainer bc = bcdef.createBindingContainer(panelBinding.getBindingContext());
    bc.setName(detailBCName);
    panelBinding.getBindingContext().put(detailBCName, bc);
    ++count; //make sure the next name is unused thus far.
    return bc;
    return null;
    My method:
    ========
    private DCBindingContainer createBindingContainer(String packageName, String panelModelName)
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(packageName);
    sb.append(ViewConstants.STRING_DOT);
    sb.append(panelModelName);
    DCBindingContainerDef bcdef = DCBindingContainerDef.findDefObject(sb.toString()); //NOTE THE NAME.
    if (bcdef == null)
    throw new JboException("System error, "+getClass().getName()+".createBindingContainer, DCBindingContainerDef: "+sb.toString()+" not found");
    DCBindingContainer bc = bcdef.createBindingContainer(panelBinding.getBindingContext());
    bc.setName(panelModelName);
    panelBinding.getBindingContext().put(panelModelName, bc);
    return bc;
    Any suggestion for replacing createBindingContainer with the 10.1.3 adequate method?
    Thanks
    Fred

  • Problem while migrating code from JDev 9.04 to JDev10.1.3

    I have migrated code from JDev 9.04 to JDev10.1.3, in that i am using a customised Combo Box which is using JUPanelBinding in setModel.But that Combo Box is not displayed properly as of 9.0.4. Also when i tried to print JUPanelBinding value it is giving as - noPanel_oracle_jbo_uicli_jui_JUPanelBinding_1.
    Where is the problem ? (in panel binding or in setModel )
    Can anyone suggest me a solution for that ?

    It's a regression. I filed bug 5703242.
    As a workaround you could specify sequence name with the qulifier:
      aSequence.setTableName("TEST.SEQUENCE");Alternatively you could override TableSequence class:
    public class MyTableSequence extends TableSequence {
        public void onConnect() {
            qualifier = getDatasourcePlatform().getTableQualifier();
            super.onConnect();
    }I apologize for the inconvenience,
    Andrei

  • How to migrate a web app from JDev 904 to JDev10132?

    Hi,
    I'm looking for any recommendation on how to migrate a web application from JDev 904 to JDev 10132? The application uses BC4J, Struts and DataTags.
    Is there tool support to migrate from DataTags to ADF DataBinding?
    Any hints are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Markus

    There is no automated migration of jbo data tags to the new binding architecture.
