Motif XS88 and Duet

I have the latest Yamaha USB drivers installed. Problem is when recording audio tracks from the Motif there is noise, unless I unplug the USB cable from the Motif. Software instruments are noiseless. It's almost like the midi USB and the audio in from the Motif are causing a loop or something. Any suggestions on changing configurations in Logic or Motif greatly appreciated. Don't use the Motif for midi recording so I don't need it set up as an external midi instrument or as a Logic controllor. Basically only record direct audio tracks from this board. Many thanks

Thanks Eric. Ya, thats what I have been doing, just unplugging the USB. Peculiar how the Audio tracks through a geetar or mic are very quiet. Only when I record Motif in an audio track with the USB plugged in do I get this noise. I initially set up the Motif to control Logic, and it was a lot of adjusting. I'm fine just using the Motif occasionally for some audio tracks. So, I dont think its a ground problem more perhaps something I did when initially setting up Logic and Motif to communicate with each other.

It's not the answer you want to hear, but it's pretty simple:
Write your own JDialog subclass that implements the behavior you want. It should be pretty straightforward to write a JOptionPane message dialog clone.

  • Motif ES and Logic

Hi. I have a question concerning my motif es and logic. I have everything working midi wise and I have created 16 audio objects for the 16 channels from my Motif. My question is, now that I'm using the audio objects, there is no way to enter program change information. How do I do this using audio objects?
Also I was wondering if theres a way to scroll through the sounds on my keyboard without having to revert to the dropdown menus in logic. I was able to set up a fader that would control the instruments 1-127 on a single Bank, but I could not seem to be able to get a fader to change the Bank on the keyboard.
some help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Have you downloaded the Motifator LSO files?
    http://www.motifator.com/mart/mainframe_files.htm
This will create a Motif ES "MultiInstrument" with patch names and bank selects available. Then you use an AudioInstrument track with "External" as the plugin.
There's some good tutorials on MLan Motif stuff at Motifator.com - it was a lifesaver for me.

  • SharePoint 2013 and SAP connectivity / SAP Gateway for Microsoft and Duet Enterprise 2.0

    Hello,
we are investigating the connection possibilities of SharePoint 2013 with SAP.
The basic scenario in our cases involves the transfer of documents and/or metadata from SharePoint to SAP possibly through a Workflow in SharePoint.
From my research the most promising official (no 3d-party) interfaces that can be used are the Duet Enterprise 2.0 and the SAP Gateway for Microsoft.
From my understanding both interfaces allow only the consumption of Data from SAP to SharePoint and not vice versa. Moreover the interoperability of documents seems not be supported. Are CRUD operations from a SharePoint native lists to SAP supported?
Can someone please clarify this topics?
I have found lots of documentation concerning the interfaces but not a clear answer to this questions.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Ioannis

    Hi Ioannis,
It seems that there is no built in method to get data from SharePoint list in SAP.
As a workaround, we can export SharePoint list to excel and then use that spread sheet as a source data in SAP.

As this issue is regarding to SAP, I recommend you to ask the question in the SAP:

  • SAP xRPM/PPM5.0 and Duet Enterprise

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to integrate Duet Enterprise into this landscape whereby SAP xRPM is our backend as we are upgrading to PPM 5.0 soon and Sharepoint 2010. Most of the examples that I've seen are using ECC 6.0 as backend however in this case we are using xRPM, as for the front end we uses SAP NW Portal.
Just trying to find out more on what are the possibilities of introducing Duet Enterprise into our landscape. Hope some of the experts here can provide more input in this.
    Regards,
    Jordi

    Hi Jordi,
In general, you use pretty much any ABAP-based system as your backend system for Duet Enterprise (on Gateway). There are two ways to communicate between the backend system and Gateway:
    - RFC: Here you can connect to backends all the way down to 4.6C
    - Web Service: Here you need to check from which release on the web service you want to use is available
I am not an xRPM expert. Please feel free to come back with more specific questions for this scenario.
    Cheers, Alex

  • Guitar Rig 3 and Duet

I am trying to get Duet and Guitar Rig 3 v3.2.0 and Logic Pro 8.0.2 to work together. After selecting Guitar Rig3 in the Insert slot of the channel strip and enabling record, I am able to hear the guitar through the monitors but there is no GR3 sound effect. The GR3 Global Header does not display any in or out activity. But upon play back, I hear the GR3 effect on the guitar track.
I have been adjusting so many settings, I am afraid I might have set something along the way incorrectly - Perhaps in Maestro or in Logic Preferences? Also should Input Monitoring be selected? To make things simple, I unplugged the USB connection to the GR3 foot pedal. That will be a different project for another day. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

Input monitoring must be off in maestro...

  • Yamaha MOTIF 6 and iMac 27 (2014)

I Own a Yamaha MOTIF 6 Workstation (Keyboard but I dont play keyboard)) and would like to use its sound engine to play GarageBand or any other MIDI file I can access.  I'm not sure how to get the iMac and MOTIF to talk to each other so what I produce on the iMac will play through the MOTIF sound engine. Do I need a MIDI sequencer App?  Any MOTIF users out there who have done this? I'm new at his so any help would be useful.  Ultimatley I'll play the sound through an awesome Mackie PA and create a virtual band to jam with. Thanks in advance. Jerry

Thanks, I think I got it working now
I have a feeling that this shouldn't be this hard, but maybe after a few days I really understand what's going on under the hood. For what it's worth, here's my current setup.
    MOTIF:
Using one patch, a performance patch in MASTER mode
    Knob/Slider mode set to Zone
Each Performance part is sending MIDI data in Channel 1
Each knob and slider has its own MIDI CC assigned. Knobs 40-43 and Sliders 50-53
Saved this MASTER mode patch to memory slot 128 and named it so that stands out for live playing with MS
(There are tons of other settings, but I don't think they are relevant to this so I try to keep this short)
    MainStage 3:
Started with a fresh Electric Piano template (=concert)
Assigned knobs and sliders in Edit mode
    Assigned footswitch to "Next Patch"
    Saved this for future setups
Now all knobs and sliders control only setting in MS, which is what I tried to accomplish in the first place. I think main stage manuals do a good job explaining what everything does, but I'm still looking for best practises, demo videos and so on -- i.e. what I should do.
So for now, I'm sticking with my keyboard, unless the urge to buy Korg Kronos X becomes unbearable

  • JButtons resize in MOTIF platform and are normal in Windows

    Hi,
I have been developing a swing application to run on all of the platforms. I have been coding mostly in Windows. I ran the program several times on the windows machine and its ok there, however, when I try to run the same program on SUN Solaris the some of the buttons have shrunk in height. I have tryied to use absolute positioning and layouts to see if this would make a difference, but still the buttons shrink. I am also using the same JDK and JVM on both operating system. Does anyone know why this is and how to go about fixing it. Also at the beginning of the program I am using UIManager.setLookAndFeel() method to set it to system look and feel. I would realy appreciate your help.
    Thank you,

  • Logic 8 and Motif XS - new to it

So I have made a few beats on my motif xs, and now I want to edit them in Logic 8 which I just recently got. I have messed around a bit and searched around online but can't really get anywhere.
This is what I'm trying to do:
-Take my song, from pattern mode, and have it sync to logic via usb to my mac. It seems the midi ports are recognized, but each track has weird symbols instead of the actual names of the instruments on the motif.
Basically, you know how you can edit on the song on the motif (kind of tedious wiht small screen to cut and paste/move/copy, etc...) - I want all that sound info (waves, each tracks- entire song) to appear in logic so that I can edit the song on the computer. Is this possible?
I have never used logic before, and am fairly new to creating songs on motif- but, I changed the setting utility>remote>DAW type> Logic, and it still isn't helping me.
I am obviously missing something. Because I am new at the motif, editing on pattern mode seems hard and not that efficient. For this reason, I want to pull up my song on Logic, as it is on the Motif, but when its on my computer it will be easier to move stuff around/cop/cut/paste/add effects, etc...
Anyone know of any resources that may help me or have any advice?
    Thanks...

ok, so I have logic setup just as you said, and my motif to send MTC out, and with all external midi tracks enabled to record, I push play on my motif.... what happens is I get my track playing on the motif (with all my instruments changed, I guess it is somehow playing instruments form Logic, which doesnt make sense because nothing is synced, and I don't have Logic set to MIDI out its patches) and thats just on the earphones ho0oked up to my keyboard.. on logic, I get no sign of anything recording, and if you turn up the volume it just sounds like whale noises (seriously)
Here is something to note though.. when I quit logic, and turn off my keyboard, I reboot both of the them, and then as soon as logic opens (with usb to motif) in the main arrange screen under "global tracks", there are 2 tracks there.. 1 says "øˇ€∞$ÑB" (which is the jibberish it is reading from motif) and the other is "audio 1" (from garage band?) this is before I setup all the other stuff (external midi tracks and settings in logic)
I really don't understand... From your help Donald, it looks like I should be able to create 7 external midi tracks in logic, have them record enabled, and then push play and motif, and then each of my tracks would just start recording in realtime on my computer? this would be great, but it is not what is happening...
On the left side, I can choose which port to take from the motif (1 thru 4) and I have 1 selected... and also channel 1
I'm still messing around with it and trying different settings... but if anyone has a clue as to what I may be doing wrong, please help....
    thanks

  • IMac with a Duet and a FW 800 drive?

Anyone using an iMac with an external FW 800 drive and Duet (on the FW 400 port)? I have a Duet and a Glyph Portagig - interested in knowing if this would be a stable and solid setup with Logic.

I'm using the Glyph off the FW800, but it is powered externally. Had a problem with the Glyph at first, but turned to be a manufacturing error which Glyph corrected..now works fine. The Duet is using the FW400 port and is powered off the port itself. I upgraded the RAM to 4gbs.
Generally running anywhere from 12-24 tracks..depending on the song of course. Using very little of the software samples, but am freely using compressors, verbs and other sweeteners.
I have installed all the updates of Logic Pro and Leopard (can't remember the numbers off the top of my head. Music style is rock/pop/country flavor.
I may regret this , but everything is working flawlessly. So, I'm either a non-critical user, or it's working great...not sure which, other than I have no complaints. Love Logic and love the Apogee Duet.

  • Advice needed on working around Duet nightmares...

After reading numerous complaints on the net about the noise issue with the duet's Instrument LINE-INs, I have finally come to terms with the fact that I'm stuck with a half-functional unit. So rather than bore the forum with desperate questions on how to solve the noise issue (there has been no concrete solution forthcoming from all the posts I have read online), I chose to instead find a way to work around it. The mic inputs are very good, no noise/hiss, so I was thinking maybe I could record my external synth (motif ES) through them. My main concern is that I'm getting a dedicated external pre very soon and it has always been my understanding that it is not a good idea to feed the signal into the mic inputs because that would mean the signal goes through a second pre (in the duet). Until I stumbled upon this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11076817&#11076817 . The last poster (Steve-Oceanic records) mentions something that gives me hope.
+"Well, actually you do connect an external pre to the mic inputs on the duet, you just change the setting in the maestro software for the input to function as a +4 XLR line-in and it bypasses the pre (it can also be changed to -10 line-in, or switched back to mic-in. The LINE-IN inputs on the DUET don't give you the flexibility to switch between balanced/unbalanced line levels."+
So should I kiss my frustrations good bye with this possibility or is there anything else I should be worried about?
    Thanks.

    jamani wrote:
You could be right. I have no noise issues at all when recording my mic with all the different settings in Maestro (XLR mic, XLR -10 and XLR +4). I only get problems when I connect my motif, and this happens no matter what input and/or setting I have it on. And another interesting thing I noticed; I had my headphones plugged to the motif and there was no noise. But as soon as I plugged the motif into the Duet, the noise appeared (yes, through the headphone plugged into the motif). So I might be having a motif-specific grounding noise problem. I highly doubt that I have any general grounding issues in the house. I have one of those Monster power units which should betray such issues with the circuit.
As for the how the noise sounds, I would best describe it as mid-low range extremely "dirty" and "rough" sounding.
Right, what I think you're hearing is grounding noise from the Mac leaking into the audio circuits. Are you using the Mac Mini described in your tag line?
What kind of power supply does it use?, external/internal?
One of the things to try although not advised by electrical engineers is to use a three to two prong grounding adapter, this way only a basic two plug connection is attached to the wall current.
(Instead of the Mac you could try the ground adapter on the Motif providing it has a three prong wall plug)
I use one on a couple of pieces, of course, that decision is up to you.

  • Problem With ButtonUI in an Auxiliary Look and Feel

This is my first post to one of these forums, so I hope everything works correctly.
I have been trying to get an axiliary look and feel installed to do some minor tweaking to the default UI. In particular, I need it to work with Windows and/or Metal as the default UI. For the most part I let the installed default look and feel handle things with my code making some colors lighter, darker, etc. I also play with focus issues by adding FocusListeners to some components. I expect my code to work reasonably well no matter what the default look and feel is. It works well with Motif, Metal, and Windows, the only default look and feels I've tested with. What I'm going to post is a stripped down version of what I have been working on. This example makes gross changes to the JButton background and foreground colors in order to illustrate what I've encountered.
I have three source code files. The first, Problem.java, creates a JFrame and adds five buttons to it. One button installs MyAuxLookAndFeel as an auxiliary look and feel using MyAuxButtonUI for the look and feel of JButtons. The next button removes that look and feel. The next button does nothing except print a line to System.out. The next button installs MyAuxLookAndFeel as an auxiliary look and feel using MyModButtonUI for the look and feel of JButtons. The last button removes that look and feel.
The problem is, when I install the first auxiliary look and feel, buttons are no longer tabable. Also, they cannot be invoked by pressing the space button when they're in focus. When I remove the first auxiliary look and feel everything reverts to behaving normally. When I add the "Mod" version, button tabability is fine. The only difference is I've added the following code:
    if ( c.isFocusable() ) {
       c.setFocusable(true);
}That strikes me as an odd piece of code to profoundly change the program behavior. Anyway, after adding and removing the "Mod" look and feel, the tababilty is forever fixed. That is, if I subsequently re-install the first look and feel, tababilty works just fine.
The problem with using the space bar to select a focused button is more problematic. My class is not supposed to mess with the default look and feel which may or may not use the space bar to press the button with focus. When the commented code in MyModButtonUI is uncommented, things behave correctly. Even the statement
button.getInputMap().remove( spaceKeyStroke );doesn't mess things up after the auxiliary look and feel is removed. So far I've tested this with JRE 1.4.2_06 under Windows 2000, JRE 1.4.2_10 under Windows XP, and JRE 1.5.0_06 under Windows XP and the behavior is the same.
All of this leads me to two questions.
    1. Is my approach fundamentally flawed? I've extended TextUI and ScrollBarUI with no problems. This is the only problem I've encountered with ButtonUI. My real workaround for the space bar issue is better than the one I've supplied in the example, but it certainly is not guaranteed to work for any arbitrary default look and feel.
    2. Assuming I have no fundamental problems with my approach, it's possible I've found a real bug. I searched the bug database and couldn't find anything like this. Of course, this is the first time I've tried seasrching the database for a bug so my I'm doing it badly. Has this already been reported as a bug? Is there any reason I shouldn't report it?
What follows is the source code for my example. It's in three files because the two ButtonUI classes must be public in order to work. Thanks for insight you can provide.

  • SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe  vs Duet

Can someone please tell me what the differences between SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe  and DUET? Please give me a pros and cons for both software....

    Hi,
    SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe
As of SAP NetWeaver u201904 (in SAP Web Application Server), you can use a new solution to create interactive forms and print forms for the optimization of your form-based business processes. This solution uses Portable Document Format (PDF) and software from Adobe Systems Inc. that has been integrated into the SAP environment.
You can create interactive forms in PDF format that allow users to fill out the form on the screen and save their entries in XML format in the form. When the SAP system receives the PDF form, it extracts the data saved in the form, and can process it further.
You can also merge a form template with current system data to generate a PDF document that can then be printed or sent by e-mail.
SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe offer you the following business advantages:
    1. Interactive functions automate the creation of data for SAP systems
    2.  Full integration into the SAP development environments for Java and ABAP
    3.  User-friendly tools reduce the time and costs associated with creating form layouts.
    4.  The usage of the PDF format means that forms retain their appearance regardless of the environment they are used in.

  • License Audit and System Measurement for J2EE Systems

    Hello,
I'm working on our annual license audit at this time, and for the first time the measurement plan includes non-ABAP systems:  Enterprise Portal, Adobe Document Services, NWDI, and even the Java developers' NWDS installations.  I'm fully conversant with the use of USMM and SLAW on the ABAP side, but I have no idea how to measure the J2EE systems, and I am unable to find any documentation on this.  I did find one powerpoint presentation that talked about measuring Portal and Duet systems, but it's only valid for 6.40-based systems, and we are a 7.00 shop (NetWeaver 2004s).  In any case, when I tried the suggestion in the presentation, it simply didn't exist for our Portal or ADS systems on 7.00.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to proceed?
    Thanks,
