MOV and MP3 in Premiere PRO

I'm just learning Premiere. When I export an MOV and I don't have the option to choose MP3 as my audio format. MOV with MP3 audio is the format requested by a vendor so I really need this ability. Is it possible?

No since MP3 audio in a MOV file is actually out of spec and a "hack". You will have to use external conversion tools that can do this.

  • Project Bloating and Repair in Premiere Pro CS6; Max Project File Size? Adobe Coders Welcome...

    Greetings.
After a few browsing sessions, I haven't found direction for a specific problem within a project bloat. First and foremost; we're always backed up. I have a restoration copy of the project that I will reference herein. Check that off the list.
Numerous people have posted here and around Creative Cow with problems regarding an expanding file size using CS6; watching files go from 300mb to 2.8gb. The unfortunate problem is when the project crosses a magical line that results in an inablity to open, import, export, or access sequences contained therein. Has anyone addressed a solution to repairing Premiere CS6 save files? Reducing file bloat? I haven't seen anything (recall the FCP7 repair days... solutions existed because problems were frequent; thankfully not so bad with Adobe).
Does anyone inside the code size know the maximum project file size that Premiere can read? I created a monster... Over 200 sequences utilizing 4.5TB of footage, stretching from Red codecs to EXCam to MPEG4 and H264. And for some time, the project size was manageable. Then, it inflated. And one day, randomly stopped opening. None of the auto-saves open.
Just curious. Files aren't the problem, but the 2.8GB save file is. Machine specs // etc. are openly available if required; no bad ram, no problems with all projects (just this one beast).
    Cheers,
    Jon Michael Ryan

  • How to use .MKV and .ISO with Premiere Pro? They are not supported.

Hi all. My brother in-law sent us two .mkv videos and a DVD .iso he wants me to use in a video I am cutting for him. The only trouble is, I've no idea how to get them into a format PremPro can handle.
I've searched and the only solutions I have found are infinitely complicated for me. Avisynth is certainly beyond me.
Anyone know of a way to convert .mkv (info lists 942x720 H.264 4:2:0 YUV MPEG4 AVC) into something useable?
Same question for an ISO file.
    Thanks much
By the way, this is not for anything 'important' nor am I getting paid, so I have no budget tp purchase software. I am sure there must be a free solution.
I tried this trial version software...
    http://www.moyea.com/import-flv/
But it would NOT install. It just errored in a loop and was unable to find or understand I have CS5 PremPro.

Can anyone explain how to use VLC to transcode? The settings are endless and NONE look correct. Everything is about coverting and shrinking and that is not what I want.
I have looked into this so many times and cannot find how to do it. I know it must be simple, but clearly I am blind.
What I need is to take whatever is inside that stupid MKV wrapper and extract it. Transcode it. I have been trying for A YEAR now and have never been able to find a solution.
I'm on a PC and unfortunately, there are free solutions for a MAC. But that won't help me.
EDIT: One option I see is tsMuxer! But which setting for Output? I can choose...
TS muxing... or M2TS musing... or Blu-ray disk... or AVCHD disk... or DEMUX
To explain more, I have a Blu-Ray I purchased and want to add the audio from my laserdisc, since the remixed audio on the disc sucks (hard). I'll also add English subtitles. To be clear, this work is for ME for my own personal use.
Here is a screen grab from tsMuxer. Which to choose? I will place the audio and video in Premiere Pro. Sync the old Laserdisc audio up and then EXPORT to Adobe Encore to burn a new BD.

  • Pushing and pulling from Premiere Pro CS 5

    Hi,
Recently, I came across a problem and I was wondering if you could confirm this is a limitation within Production Premium CS 5 or whether I am doing something incorrectly?
If I render a sequence within Premiere Pro and push it to Encore via Adobe Dynamic Link, the rendered sequence correctly shows its rendering within Encore.  However, if I render my sequence, save, and exit from Premiere Pro and then start Encore and pull the sequence from Premiere Pro via the Adobe Dynamic Link, I don't necessarily keep the rendering.  I know that this has happened when using a 64-bit plugin from a third-party.  The sequence shows with a watermark as if it had never been registered.  The problem further manifests itself by, when I restart Premiere Pro, while the rendering looks intact, if I click on the third-party plugin as if to modify it, it won't let me make changes until I delete the already rendered sequence.  It seems like somehow, the sequence has become corrupted.
Any thoughts - is this a known problem?  Has this been addressed with CS 5.5?  Are there plans for this to be addressed?  Is there a workaround?
    Thanks,
    Steve

The pros are faster encodes with superior quality.  I use the free HC Encoder for MPEGs.  You'll also need Avisynth to use it.  The process is somewhat cumbersome, but if you have the time and want the quality, it's noticeably better, in my opinion.
To add to this, I've been producing commercial blu-rays using the free x264 encoder.  The quality is unmatched by any commercial encoder, however there are some features absent that some commercial producers need (such as the ability to directly place I-frames, re-encode a section of GOPs with different bitrate targets, etc. which commercial encoders like CineVision can provide).  If you don't have any need for those, x264 is the way to go.  As quality is more important to me than bitrate, I use the single-pass constant ratefactor "--crf" mode with something better than the default, like 18 or 16, and it has never let me down.
Just be prepared to wait a while if you have a longform project.  x264 is very fast, taking advantage of multi-core machines, but it cannot utilize the GPU/CUDA for encoding.  A 3.5 hour 720p60 project (over 750,000 individual frames) at maximum quality takes a full 24 hours to encode on a 3.2GHz core i7, with all hardware threads at 100% (so make sure your machine is stable if it is overclocked!).

  • Can I buy and download adobe premiere pro at home and then use that DMG to install it in my office?

Have just purchased a beast of a Mac Pro. Will be using this for editing a feature film. Problem is I need to buy and download Adobe Premiere Pro.  My internet speed in the office is abysmal and it would take forever to download. Thats why I was thinking of downloading the software at home, and then using that DMG file to install on the Mac Pro in office. Is this possible? Will appreciate any help at all.
    Thanks!

You can download the Enterprise Deployment packages and install them, but you still need to install the CC app in the first place.

  • My video won't "Render and Replace" in Premiere Pro from linked footage in After Effects

I am using Premiere Pro CC 2014 and After Effects CC 2014.  I can't get the video to "Render and Replace" in Premiere Pro after editing the original in After Effects.  It just freezes on "Analyzing."
In order to see the footage in real time  I have to export it to an mp4 then replace the linked footage.  The footage is 18 minutes long and it takes more than 5 hours to export it.  After I edit the exported version, I have to export it again, which is another 5 hours.  This is taking a really long time.  I would rather edit the "Rendered" version What am I doing wrong?
    Russell

is this just a single clip, or you have the entire 18min loaded in AE as comp? does this happen with new projects and all footage or just some? can you render and replace regular clips that aren't AE comps?  if its just a few clips of the 18min project, can you render previews in premiere?    if its just a few clips, could also render them out in AE and swap them out in premiere instead of using render and replace...   or maybe temporarily disable the ae effects/layers while editing in premiere and then turn them back on when ready to export final render.

  • Mov files in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 - XDCAM (MPEG) resp MPEG 1/2 (xdvc)

    Problem description:
I got a bunch of MOV files on a HFS+ formated disk for editing on Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3). When I import to Premiere, Premiere says "Codec missing or unavailable". Paragon HFS+ is used to handle the HFS+ formated disk. I copied the data to a NTFS formated disk before using.
The reseach I did give the following indications:
I did try to play in Quicktime and Quicktime told that I would need additional software to play the .mov file. But I could execute show movie inspector and it shows "XDCAM EX 1080i 50 (35Mb/s VBR)".
VLC plays (!) and tells that it is a "Mpeg 1/2 Video (xdvc)"
    MediaInfo says "MPEG Video (XDCAM)"
Sound is (L)PCM according to the mov inspector programs.
The MPEG2 format seems to be supported by Premiere (also in HD), forum entries tell me I should be at version 5.0.2 as there Adobe supports the MOV container. So now my question: What am I missing?
I have no idea on the Camera used to film, but it could be a JVC, as it is told that the JVC writes mov files.

    Hi Colin,
The explanation is quite simple and it appeared to me sometime during the weekend when executing completly different tasks.
The video source is different! The small clips (and your test clip) are what came from the camera and was transcoded to mov, my test clip was the edit out of FCP! It was by chance the only mov-file left, all others have been deleted after transforming to mp4, not to keep the data in double and fill up the disks with unnessecary data. So I tested this clip, which was the mistake!
Testing one of the original input files confirmed your result!
The difference between the files is having indeed 2 mono audio streams (input mov) vs one stereo stream (edit mov), all 3 obviously PCM.

  • Trouble Importing MOV files in adobe premiere pro cs3

    Hi,
I just bought a Canon 60D camera and I am using adobe premiere pro cs3 for the first time.
I tried to import MOV file footages made by my Canon 60D, but it says that my files are not supported.
I don't know what to do!
    Can someone help me?
    Thank you.

    Hi All,
Let me tell you how I solved the XDV9 codec trouble on my Windows 7 system. The solution is rather stunning because I am using completely free software. First download the Shark007 codec pack for your system here: http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Setup-and-usage . Please be aware that the codec pack installer comes with a toolbar install option so make sure you de-select this option during the installation process. After installation check the MOV tab on the "Settings Application" program. Make sure "use LAV's splitter" is selected for MOV Playback.
Now comes the crazy part... To convert the XDV9 MOV video clips just download Windows Essentials Movie Maker for Windows 7. At this moment more info about this program can be found here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started . Again, make sure to set the right settings during installation otherwise you will be installing a lot of possible unwanted crap like Windows Live Mail, Windows Skydrive etc.
Movie Maker has quite good settings for converting (High Definition or custom settings are supported). Select your clip, or select multiple clips to create an unedited full length clip of all your clips, and then select "create movie". I used the "use recomended settings for this project" settings as it matches the source file resolution and frame rates etc. It is quite some work to convert clips like this but its the only free solution I could find so far.
    Good luck!
    Rodger

  • Help: Clips rendered in AE turn blue when changing clip speed and exporting in Premiere Pro

    Hi
I've been having this problem in Premiere Pro CS5 (I'm just not sure with CS4 & ealier versions).. ok the problem is that in Premiere Pro CS5 when I change the speed of a clip that is rendered in After Effects and export it either in AVI or in MOV, it produces some blue flicker on that clip or sometimes the entire clip turns blue..This only happens when I am using Quicktime Animation codec in AE..I can't find any forum that discusses this problem..And I don't know if others are also experiencing this (except for my friend who is also experiencing this in MacOSX)..by the way my version of Premiere Pro is 5.0.3 and my After Effects is 10.0.2.4 (Windows 7 x64)..I don't know know if this is a bug in PrPro or AE, or if Adobe is aware of this problem..
Here's a video of what I am consulting to you guys for you to better understand what I'm saying.. (sorry, no audio)
P.S.   CS5.5 users please tell me if you also experience this..
    Thanks in advance!

This only happens when I am using Quicktime Animation codec in AE
So don't do that.  It's probably not the best choice for video, anyway.  I mean it says right in the name - "animation".  There's a reason for that.
On a Windows machine, Lagarith and UT are two free lossless codecs that play well within the Adobe suite.  Give them a try.
Or better yet, don't render out of AE at all.  Use Dynamic Linking instead.

  • Working with video and photos in Premiere Pro CS6

    Hi Folks.
I am a LONG TIME Adobe Premiere 5 user.  NOT CS5, Adobe Premeire 5!!  Yes, from the 1990's!!  Recently I went back to college and taking advantage of the educational store, I treated myself to Adobe Master Collection CS6.  I LOVE IT!!!
I'm just back from holidays where I snapped loads of photos at 14Mpx and video at 720p HiDef on my camera.  I now want to compile a holiday video of my photos and videos telling the story of my holiday.  I always do this and in Adobe Premeire 5 I had it nailed down.  This is my first big outing with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and while I'm making some good headway with it, there are so many differences that I have a few questions...
    1.
My movie is being made at the resolution of my video footage, 1280 x 720.  My photos are MUCH bigger then this.  When I place a photo on the timeline, because it's much bigger then the video resolution I have to right click on it on the timeline and select Scale To Fit Screen or whatever the option is.  This works great as the whole photo then shrinks down to fit within the video resolution.  But it's a pain as I have LOADS of photos!!  Is there a way to make photos default to fitting on the video resolution when I place them on the timeline?  I don't want to resize them in Photoshop to fit the resolution as I plan to move and zoom into the photos as part of the video so I want to keep them at their 14Mpx size.
    2.
When I place a photo and a video side by side in the timeline, why can't I place a Cross Disolve transition overlapping the two of them?  The transition just overlaps the video start/end depending on where it is.  If I put two photos side by side, the transition will overlap the top of them on the timeline.  Haven't tried it with two videos yet.
That's it for now.  Making slow but good headway.  Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Paul.

Start by downrezzing your photos in PS to a more manageable size. If you don't need pan and scan, just use 1280x720. You can batch resize them in PS and it will make the editing experience a lot better, putting less overhead on the system and resulting in a much snappier response.
Read about handles in the Help file for transitions. You need extra material at the end on a clip and the beginning of the next clip.

  • Speaker buzz and interference in Premiere Pro and Audition CS5.5

Several months ago I upgraded to an Asus G10AC PC for my editing. When I first started using the Asus I was using a basic 5.1 computer speaker system plugged in using the 3.5mm headphone jack for sound. I noticed right away that when I opened Premiere Pro or Audition I would hear some interference similar to when you put a cell phone too close to a wireless transmitter (buzzing and beeps). I assume it is picking up something from the hard drive(s) or MoBo. The noises didn't show up in my exported files so I lived with it.
Recently I added a Behringer Q802USB mixer and some PreSonus monitors for more accurate audio editing. So now all of my audio is more defined and easier to hear accurately. The beeps and buzzing don't seem to be an issue but what I hear now is a constant high pitch sound from both speakers but more from the left than the right.
But what is strange is that the high pitch sound is only there when either of the 2 Adobe windows (Pp or Au) are active. I can use windows explorer, QuickTime and windows movie maker to play audio and video files and they are clean. As soon as I click away from the Adobe windows the high pitch sound disappears. I can even RAM preview clips in After Effects and the sound is clean. When I plug in headphones to the PC I constantly hear the buzzes and beeps no matter what is open, but the high pitch sound isn't there or it is at least not as noticeable. I also tried disconnecting the USB cable from the mixer and reconnected using a 1/8" male from the headphone that splits the signal out to 2 1/4" male outputs to connect to an input on the mixer. Same noise issue all around so from what I can tell the issue isn't the USB connection or the mixer.
To double check that it wasn't a mixer issue I connected it to my Sager laptop using the USB and everything is crystal clear no matter what I play the audio on (Pp, Au, windows explorer, YouTube, QT, etc). This laptop is usually connected to the same mixer but using one of the headphone cables that splits to the 2 1/4" males.
This sounds like an issue with my PC but I wanted to check here since the issue only occurs when Pp or Au are open. Is there something that these 2 programs gain access to that the other sound producing programs do not? And to clarify, it isn't only when playing audio in these 2 programs. The noise begins as either program begins loading and is constant until I click to a different window. Sometime I actually have to close out of Pp to get it to stop. Could it have something to do with these 2 programs having access to the microphone function? And I am not tech savvy enough to understand if the 2 Adobe programs use the same drivers as the other programs that do not have the sound issue.
I briefly attempted trouble shooting the audio drivers but the computer says that I my driver is up to date. I tried manually replacing it and switching to ASIO but couldn't get it to accept it so I went back to the original driver and setting.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Cole

Thanks for the fast response Richard.
I thought that too but what is causing it to only happen when engaging these 2 programs? It seems if it was a grounding problem it would be universal for all programs that produce sound. It is only when these 2 programs begin loading and while they are selected.
Do you have any theory about what component they are accessing that brings this interference into play? At first I figured it must be sound card related but wouldn't the other programs that produce sound also call upon the same hardware and drivers when playing audio?
