.mov export problems

Hello,
I have a new WinXP computer with CS3 Master Collection and
Quicktime 7.2. When I export a movie (file > Export Movie) the
progress bar moves all the way to the end and hangs there. I never
get my completed file. I can see a .dat file, but the process never
completes to give me the .mov.
I have tried the Animation and H.264 codecs with the same
results. I am also able to product AVI files with no problems.
Help or suggestions are greatly appreciated,
- Jon

I found another post on this forum that resolved my issue.
For anyone else having this problem with MOV export, make sure you
do the following:
- Create a stop() command at the last frame of the animation
- Make sure there are no frames after the stop() command
Once I removed the frames after my stop() command, the export
completed just fine.
Cheers,
- Jon

  • Movie exporting problems from premiere 6.5 to premiere pro cs3

    Hello,
I recently made a movie with video transitions in première 6.5 and as the program crashes in Vista every time i try to export the movie (it did work with XP though before), i now exported the project to première cs3 to be able to make a few small changes and finally export it in (avi) dv pal modus.
The problem now is that pro cs3 changed all the transitions or doesn't seem to apply them. What can i do to make the 6.5 transitions work in cs3 ?
Do i have to erase them all and replace them with cs3 video (cross dissolve) transitions ? I tried a bit to see, but i couldn't change the duration, it would stay on 6 frames, even after i changed the default video transition duration settings...
Hope someone can help me. I have a PC with Vista (32 bits).
    Cheers,
    E

I've Imported several Pr 6.5 Projects into PrPro 2.0, and never had an issue. Now, some of these Projects (done by others) did have 3rd party Transitions and some that were probably just not available in PrPro 2.0*. PrPro was smart enough to flag each one, with the exact TimeCode, and let me know the name of each "missing" Transition. It was then a simple matter of going to each TimeCode, and replacing the missing Transition with one from either PrPro, or one of my 3rd party vendors. Did CS3 not give you these dialog screens? That would be a shame, as I found them very useful, and simplified the task of replacement to just a few seconds.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    * most of these Projects were started on Pr 6.5 Mac, and I am on a PC, so I do not know which Transitions might have been on the Mac. A few were definitely 3rd party, if their name was any indication.

  • Export problems- it's renaming my MOVs to strange things and they're huge!

    Hey guys,
strange fcp export problem. I have a 10 minute anim compressed fcp project, 1920x1080, 30fps on a top-of-the-range macbook pro with external terabyte HD. I did a test export a couple of days ago, because our deadline is really soon, and that all worked fine - a 10 minute quicktime, 100% anim codec, was 26GB. That was fine. I did another test clip, just a spinning bitmap for 10 mins, from AfterEffects with similar, succesful, results and file sizes.
Now, however, when I export, it comes out as 60GB, and FCP changes the filename to something which is the first half of the filename I chose, and a strange number for the second half which is different each time I try it. Something like "filena#CF342.mov", for example. This file seems to have video in it OK, but it's 3 times the size, and the data rate is much higher, too high to play back.
The only changes I've made since my successful test are replacing many of the low res previews with hi res versions, and adding 1 minute to the end. And I changed my QMaster setup, not sure if that's anything to do with it.
Anyone got any ideas? I'm getting pretty worried.....
    thanks in advance....

Thanks for the quick reply! No, don't think that's the problem. The new render doesn't have an alpha channel - it's Animation 100% Millions (not Millions+), and I don't think that would add more than 25% to the file size anyway. It also wouldn't account for the strange renaming of filenames. And the increase in length is only 10%. The file size has tripled!
The final delivery format was going to be animation, 1920x280, because it's going to projected on a 30m wide cinema screen and live TV tomorrow night but our playback solution (while it handles the test files ok) can't handle the data rate of these strange new files: it's 800mb/s, which is pretty ridiculous.
The renaming of the files suggests (to me at least) some kind of bug/error, but it doesn't report any kinda error in either fcp or quicktime.
Plan B is to recompress the strange big file using h264 which gives an ok quality and is 10% of the size. Reason I'd like to do it animation is I need to do several versions with different gamma, so I need to do further processing on the rendered file after it's dumped from FCP.
Any thoughts? I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
one thought - I didn't tick "recompress all files" and some of the source DOES have alpha - would it be taking the alpha channel even though I didn't ask for it?

  • SWF movie export on frame-by-frame basis WITH actionscript

    Hi there,
I know they're two ways of exporting flash movies:
Export the whole timeline. This only allows timeline animations and gets messy because you have to cram up everything on the main timeline.
Realtime-Export via Quicktime. This is a "full blown" export, but heavily dependent on CPU power or speed of harddrive, depending on resolution.
I also work a lot with music programs and there is an option called "mixdown". This will render the whole song - as fast as the processor is capable - to a WAV-file. So time doesn't matter anymore, notes don't get skipped, etc.
I would like to see something like this in flash, too. WITH actionscript.
I just want flash to export one frame for each "onEnterFrame" event, NOT when the timer tells you, it's time for a "next frame". So this would mean not to trigger the onEnterEvent when the appropiate time has passed, but to trigger it, when the next frame can be exported.
Libraries like "TweenLite/Max" are capable of doing frame-based animations, independent from the timer, so everything on that end is pretty fine.
Would be so great if that was possible in any way.
Is it already in CS5? Or maybe an option in CS6... argh, so many years to wait...
until then, I have to measure the fps, look out for the lowest number, export at THAT framerate (in most of the cases just 4 or 5 fps, even on a very fast computer - just because 2 or 3 frames happen to render slower than the other 200) and afterwarts set it to 25 again (I use Blender to do this)

    Greg-
    Good Lead - Thanks.
I learned that having skinned components (which this uses)
keeps this preloader from working properly. The results were
unstable. It looks like a great little preloader for other things
    though.
I also learned that it's a problem that others have
encountered and that hasnt been solved yet...
    ...."hello Adobe?"
Thanks again for helping me understand this.

  • White lines on movie exported in DVD

ehi guys. I did just a nice movie with the suggestions of some members of this forum but at the end the quality of a 30minutes movie exported in DVD was not so much principally because of some white lines present in some pieces of the movie. These white lines are not clearly detectable, but still they disturb the vision. I guessed that this effect was  due to the low ram of my laptop (512MB). is that correct?

It sounds like it *could* be an interlacing issue, especially as it appears on the TV, and not the computer. Chances are that the computer's progressive scan masks this issue, while the TV's internaced display shows it.
Now, are all of the source Clips on the same Timeline the same? Were they all Captured via PE from a miniDV camera, over a Firewire connection, or are the from mixed sources? Having this problem come in during the play of the DVD indicates that it might be some of the source files, but not all of them.
More detail on the Clips would help. In the Project Panel, you can get the properties of each of your source Clips. Listing those would be a good start.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    [Edit] Antonio,
If it is a Field Reversal interlacing issue, you might get some useful information from this current discussion.

  • What does error -2125 mean when movie exporting fails?

I have a problem exporting a 4-hour movie (720p DV video) that has been acquired and exported by EyeTV 2.3.2 as an iMovie 9 project and assembled in said project.  Some 10-14 hours later after starting a movie export in iMovie for Apple (HD) TV resolution, iMovie displays the dialogue: "Unable to prepare project for publishing—the project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-2125)".
What is causing this error and how can I resolve it?  The project is about 87 GB large as exported by EyeTV and I have about 194 GB free space on my work volume (which is not the system startup volume) that holds the iMovie project.
Being such a generic error, it is apparently a problem that isn't expected or popular.  Any clues about this error would be muchly appreciated.  I'll work on it some more, but I'm getting nowhere fast!
I'll write some more tech details about the system experiencing the problem a little later, but off the top of my head, it's iMovie 9.0.4 on a MacBook Pro (Core Duo) w/ 2 GB of memory and Mac OS X 10.6.7. Running Activity Monitor shows nothing abnormal to disks or CPU usage during the export, and there is no resource exhaustion for the entire time exporting is in progress.
    Thanks!

    Hi
There are two kinds of sizes - one must keep in mind
    • Gbs - when regarding to store video material on hard disks - then how hd is formatted as UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - Doesn't work due to the 4Gb limit - HAS TO BE Mac OS Extended (HFS)
    • DURATION - Movie time + MENU time - an d this is Vital in regard to iDVD - as Gbs Mbs etc. doesn't matter at all. I've 500Mb movies that do not fit and 50Gbs that fit nicely.
Culprit here is most often the menu that can hide duration in many places one of them picture buttons - as they get same time/duration as movie dropped into them even if only one frame is showed and no animation. Other things is Menu audio that also can consume large Duration times.
So - as I wrote in another answer.
OK Error code - 2125 usually indicates that the movie is to large (in TIME - Duration).
It use to pop up when going to iDVD !
iDVD - DO NOT CARE ABOUT Gbs at all. I got movies on 500Mb that do not fit and 50Gb that fits nicely.
iDVD - ONLY CARES ABOUT - Duration. Duration is Movie time + MENU TIME. Choise of
menu and animation of this can take lost of "DURATION" 15 minutes or even more.
Choise of encoding method and use of SL or DL DVDs determine the DVD limit.
    iDVD 08 & 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
DL DVDs can store about double of these times.
ALTERNATIVE - The Error Code can indicate that free space on Start-up (BOOT) hard disk is
    less than 25Gb (my minimum)
So - You have added together all things except use of strange file formats to make this as hard as possibly
    • 4 hours of material - DL-DVD is about 3:45 with as simple menu possibly - no photos, no audio or no animation - STILL TO MUCH
    • I have about 194 GB free space on my work volume (which is not the system startup volume) that holds the iMovie project. - YES BUT - Neither iDVD or Mac OS can use this space for it's temp. files - Space has to be on the Start-up hard disk - about 25Gb free space when using SD-video and about 4-5 times more when using HD-video. This can not be addressed to other hard disks.
    • iMovie 9.0.4 - Well in regard to quality this is not good. As iDVD is SD interlaced video. So using iMovie up to HD6 or FinalCut will result in much better result as they don't discard every second line on Export to iDVD.
    • In iMovie'09 - Don't Share to iDVD - BUT - Share to Media Browser and as Large (not HD) - helps a bit

  • Failed movie export, help

I have a project I am working on that is causing me grief. The movie clips started out as Sanyo Xacti HD1000 1080i clips. That still doesn't seem to work with QuickTime above version 7.1.6 (and I had trouble een with that). I ran the clips through MPEG Stream Clip turning them into 720p clips and those play fine in QT Player and iMovie 08 though sometimes they're a bit jerky in iMovie 08 playback for reason I don't get. The proejct starts off with a cross-fade in, introl music at the start of the first photograph, a set of Ken Burns' photos with voice over and a couple transitions. Then the music fades and the first video clip should start. What happens when I export a movie using any of the iMovie export menu options is that the first clip does not start though the audio is playing just fine. The video doesn't start to play properly until about 2/3rds into the entire video and then it seems fine.
Why is my video failing to play properly? What can I do to fix this? I cannot re-shoot the video. This is very frustrating.
    ** Ken **

Whatever was wrong isn't now. I don't have an explanation of why it's working properly now, but it is.
I have noticed that iMovie can be a bit flakey about clips it plays and does not play. For example, I crated a clip of slides that are positioned in different locations. THe process went like this:
    1. Create a single slide slideshow with fade in and fade out for each slide using iMovie 08.
    2. Export the movies I just made in step 1.
    4. Create a movie of a black background that is the appropriate length for the entire slideshow clip and proper size (a 720p clip) and export the clip. In this case that is a 10 second clip with a 9 second voiceover.
    5. In QT Player (Pro version of QT) open the movies exported in #2 and #4.
    6. Select one of the individual slideshows, select all, and copy
    7. Go to the background movie, place the cursor at the appropriate start point, do Edit->Add Movie
    8. In movie Properties go to the Visual Settings for the just added clip and re-position (scaling was not needed since they were sized properly already) the track to where it should be.
    9. Repeat steps 6, 7, and 8 for the remaining slideshow clips.
    10. After all slides have been added save the movie as a self-contained movie.
This worked great. I had a little MOV file that played just fine. But when I imported it into iMovie 08 the new movie did not play properly. The slides never appeared.
I returned to QT Player and exported the movie as a MP4/h.264 file and re-imported that into iMovie 08 and it worked fine. At least in this case iMovie had a problem with the multiple video tracks that were positioned in different locations in time and space relative to the first (background) track.

  • Please help...exporting problems

    Hi,
I'd love some help please with the final part of my
    project...i am confused!
I have completed a virtual tour of my site. It works on my
comp but not on anyone elses and i don't know why.
It starts with a simple timeline intro (which works fine),
which then stops and i then have buttons which each link to a
video. The codes are all correct and it works perfectly on my
computer, but when i sent to my administrators, when you click the
buttons nothing appears. Here's how i've done it, please can
someone tell me what i've done wrong?
I imported the videos to flash so they are flv files. For the
deployment option i chose 'Stream from Flash Video Streaming
Service.' I dragged an FLVPlayBack component to the stage and then
sourced it (under parameters) to the flv file. This didn't work, so
i then imported each flv video directly to the stage (file, import,
import to stage). I then went file, export, export movie. The
    setting i chose were:
    Version: Flash player 9
    Load Order: Bottum Up
Action script version: Action Script 3.0
I ticked: Compress movie & Export hidden layers
    Script time limit: 15 seconds
Local Playback security: access local files only
    These were the default settings.
I've included as many variables as i can think of. What have
i done wrong? And if all of that is right, is there anything else i
could have done wrong? Please help!
    Thank you,
    Tom

I think i've solved the problem...not a web man by any
stretch of the imagination and it didn't occur to me that because
the videos weren't embedded i'd need to send them as well...
thanks for all your help though...i'm sure this won't be the
end of my problems as now i've got download times to deal
    with!

  • Final Cut Express - Exporting problem

I have used Final Cut Express for years with no problems. All of a sudden, when I export my sequence into a Quicktime Movie, the resulting movie has intermittent problems with photos. ALL my movie clips work fine. However, random pictures “get stuck” and will simply remain on screen wiping out several pictures that follow. The sound continues correctly, but the movie remains fixed on a given photo. At some point, the movie goes back to normal and pictures and clips show correctly, until the same problem repeats itself.
I tried removing the software from my system and restoring from scratch but that did not help. The problem is also not with a given picture or transition, because if I redo making the movie the problem will usually display itself at a different location. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what might be causing this problem?

Dragging the photos to your timeline should work, though the normal route is to import them and then drag them from the browser. User-installed plugins are located in three different places:
    FxScript Plugins:
User > Library > Preferences > Final Cut Express User Data > Plugins
Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Final Cut Express Support > Plugins
    FxPlug Plugins:
    Macintosh HD > Library > Plug-Ins > FxPlug
You should copy all user-installed plugins to a different location before reinstalling, then place them back in their respective folders afterward.

First, I suggest you limit the subject line of your question to a few words which will help someone identify the problem you are encountering. Putting the entire question there looks as though you are shouting.
It would help anyone to identify your problem if you were to say what video codec (file format) you are using, and describe the method you are using in your attempts to export it.
You could also list any relevant error messages you encounter.
What version of FCP X are you using?
All these things will make it easier for people to help you.

  • I have an exporting problem

I have an exporting problem. I tried to export a little over 2 minute video in 1080p at 29 fps. I know that this setting has worked on all of my previous videos until now. When I tried deleting the files I believed caused the problem, the error still occur. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks for the follow up with further details.
    1. Please review the following Adobe document on Complying error for export
"Error compiling movie" during render or export
    2. Please confirm error @
    Encoding Menus
    Encoding Media
    Compiling
    Actual Burn Process
    3. Best to make a copy of the problem project and work from that for the troubleshooting..File Menu/Save a Copy, with different name for copy or copies.
    3. Expand the Timeline with the -+ slider above the Timeline to get a better view of the Timeline content.
    a. look for obvious flaws in the Timeline tracks content -
    b. Explore for less obvious flaws
....Target the transitions...have you dealt with trimmed versus untrimmed clip where the transition is being made?
....Target the audio, looking for gaps
....Target the Timeline in general looking for debris, fragments of clips that you previously deleted
....Check Timeline menu marker placements....no stop marker after the last item on the Timeline
....Check Movie Menu customization area for overlapping buttons, presenting with red frames around the overlapping buttons
    c. When you have your disc in the burner tray, what does the burn dialog Quality area show for Space Required and Bitrate.
    d. What is the video compression for your .mp4? Have you set a 4:3 project for a 4:3 source or a 16:9 project for a 16:9 source?
Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thank you.

Add On...If you are working with version 13, have you updated to 13.1 using an opened project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.
Also, determine if it makes a difference to the outcome with or without the Intel HD Graphics 2000 and Higher preference disabled. See

  • CS4 Audio Export Problem

    Hi
I'm fairly new to CS4 and have picked up an audio export problem, more than likely with a setting of sorts. For some reason when I export to MPEG2 -DVD via the Media Encoder, the video portion is fine as well as any audio that has been placed and edited on tracks audio 1 and 2 in PP. However, if there is additional audio placed on tracks 3 or 4 for example (say a music MP3 overlay) then this does not come out ... only audio placed on tracks 1 and 2 in PP come out. I have checked the obvious like making sure the tracks aren't muted etc but to no avail. Also tried changing from PCM audio to MPEG ... Stereo to 5.1 mixdown ... nothing doing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards

Thanks Harm ... got SnagIt and with a few helpful YouTube tutorials ... am in business. Hunt and John, also thanks ... the other method equally as good. Now, I have attempted to attach my screen shot which should display my CS4 timeline and associated audio monitor windows above. By the way, this was for a wedding and as indicated, you will notice an MP3 lying in audio track 3 which as mentioned is my problem as it is not audible after render via Media Encoder. But remember, the moment I slip this MP3 up into audio track 1 or 2 above ... problem solved. I know there must be something small like a setting gone wrong or incorrect. As mentioned, any help would greatly appreciated.
    Thanks to you all.

  • Export Problem in LR 3.5

    Hi folks,
I have been working with LR 2.7 for a while now and was happy with it.
    PC - Win XP - LR3.5
Photo's stored on external hard disk (K:)
The RAW captures of a Nikon 3100 I recently won were not being recognized/imported by LR 2.7 and I installed the 3.5 version to see if it was any better. I would have to buy it anyway by the time I switch to Win7. In 3.5 the Raw files were imported, the settings of 2.7 were nicely taken over but now and I cannot export the files I have worked on to the K: drive of the external hard drive as I used to do with 2.7.
I get the message 'The folder could not be found' though it is set in the Export Window and I am looking at it in Win Explorer.
The original RAW captures are on the D: drive but that was always the case with 2.7 as well... I am doing it exactly as I used to with 2.7.
I tried with a photo from an older folder of my usual camera and everything works fine there.
The problem seems to be only with the Nikon files. Now I start wondering if there is something with raw format of this Nikon camera that is putting LR in a twist...
Anybody any ideas to help me out?
    Thanks and grts

    @ web-weaver:
Of course they go to a different folder and they also get different
titels/names once processed in LR. The originals are always RAW (NEF) and I
export them as jpg or tiff files depending on what more I will do to them.
    @ ssprengel:
I get the message when I have renamed the file in the export window, set
the folder it has to go to and hit export.
In the 2.7 version I got it already when I tried to import.
As I said, this only happens with the Nikon (NEF) RAW files. With the
Olympus (ORF) RAW files I have no problem at all and had no problem in LR
    2.7 either.
I cannot see anything wrong in the Export panel nor in Preferences.
Plug in is Metadata Wrangler and has been updated to the latest version >
    no joy...
I tried import/export with jpg files and no problem there.
Yesss! Got it! What I had overlooked was a question mark next to the folder
in Library (sooo small). A rightclick and telling LR where it was solved
the problem. Strange, though, as it has never done this before... the main
folder and the path are still the same as the ones that work perfectly with
Olympus exports... just a different subfolder named Nikon and another named
Test... Also strange that if I started off with jpg, it was no problem
    either...
Anyway, thanks a lot for shaking my senses for me
