All of a sudden it turned off, and it wouldn't turn on for quite some time, even after I plugged it in the charger. It wasn't long after the screen turned on, but it only displayed a bright black. T500 - JUST ANOTHER BLUE SCREEN

I've been getting the kiss of death blue screen crash ever since I bought the laptop in January 2009. ONCE A WEEK average. My hardware provider says it can't be true because he tested it, that it must be a software issue. IT'S NOT. I've been on the phone with tech support in Atlanta, to no avail. I just had to reinstall and even buy some new upgraded software after my last crash that wiped everything off the hard drive. My hardware provider wiped off Vista and put on XP. Since everything has been put back on, I've had 3 crashes in 3 days, and am presently doing ANOTHER hard drive Full System Test. I make a living on this computer, and have lost several thousand dollars in the last 2 weeks. I paid for the best-of-the-best and all accessories, and can't afford to buy a different laptop. SOMEBODY HELP, PLEASE.

I had a somewhat similar problem with my T500. It was due to a Windows update called "SQL Server Express SP3". What I did was that I restored the systerm to a previous point and skipped to install this update. Its working fine since then.

Another blue screen startup

As far as I know I didn't put anything new on my iBook, but it now will only startup to a blue screen. I've tried running Disk Utility from the Install CD, but it wont repair. This is what it says:
blah blah...
Checking Catalog file.
Incorrect size for file temp2029816
(It should be 0 instead of 52736)
Anyway, when you repair disk it goes through the whole process, says repair completed, but the verify disk permissions and repair disk permissions stay greyed out. Is there anything I can do to get my workhorse working again?
Anyone got any ideas?

further investigation tells me this
I connected the blue screening mac to another via firewire as a target disk. the hd would not mount, but i could run the same verify and repair in disk utility, but the disk permissions buttons were still greyed out. And i couldn't mount it from there. I then tried the migration assistant, but again it couldn't see the disk.
what am i doing wrong, or what do i need to do differently?

ANOTHER blue screen post - yes I've read the others

Please don't post any links to the Apple support docs. I've read them all, tried it, and their solutions do nothing. My system does not have the "ApplicationEnhancer.bundle" file present, and these are BRAND NEW 10.5 installs (not upgrades), which are going to blue screen within minutes or hours after install, so doing an "archive and install" is just pointless as doing a fresh install is the same thing.
So, now I have tried THREE different completely fresh (reformatted disk) installs of Leopard on my Dual 2.5 G5, and every single time I end up with a blue screen after I restart once or twice. This has happened right after a 10.5.0 install from the DVD on the first restart (before even entering account info), and it has happened after getting all the way to 10.5.3 with other system software up-to-date, then next morning, blue screen, no startup. In 2 of the 3 instances, I never installed ANY other software other than what popped up in software update, and in the 3rd instance I got as far as Photoshop and setting up my eMail before back to blue screen fun.
What's the deal? Leopard is just unusable on a Dual G5? I got it installed on a much older eMac and 12" Powerbook G4 with no issues using the same install DVD, and the G5 always appears to be fine, until a restart and then nada. I'm very careful to repair disk permissions before and after any software updates, and as I said, I've barely installed any software on the computer, and actually installed no extra software in a couple of cases, yet the problem continues.
Other interesting facts: I would normally hold down 'option' and choose my backup cloned Tiger firewire volume to boot up off of since I can't boot up off the internal, but holding option also results in an infinite spinning watch icon - the internal Leopard volume is visible, but it never shows my external 10.4 volume and never stops spinning the watch so I can't actually choose an option anyway.
At this point, I'm going to clone my backup Tiger OS back to my internal and give up on 10.5, but would love to know why this is happening, and why when there are seemingly dozens of other threads about the same issue that there is no solution.

That IS interesting, because at that stage you are not running Leopard. OS X has not yet loaded, and you are only running Startup Manager, which is in the Mac's firmware. Since you are experiencing problems even before OS X has booted, I wonder if you have a hardware problem - either a bad or loose internal component or a flaky external cable, hub, or device. Try disconnecting any external devices or hubs. I would also try resetting PRAM and running Apple Hardware Test if you haven't already done so.

It describes my situation (but without the deterioration to scrambled video)..
Client drops off iMac; it's a 1.8GHz ambient light sensor model, 17 inch. Complaint: Won't start up.
The serial number of this unit falls within the range of the repair extension program, but it is a Rev 2 model, so excluded.
I plug it in & push the power button: POST, fans, hard drive, screen comes on, grey apple, spinning gear; at the point where the "Welcome to Macintosh" splash screen would normally appear (pre-Leopard, anyways), the screen switches to blue.. And stays there forever - with a visible and mobile cursor.
Reboot, reset PRAM. Same result. Reboot, hold down shift key. AHA, I get through the normal splash screen, progress bar, to the login screen. I learn that this Mac is running 10.4.6.
So then I plug in my external FW troubleshooting hard drive, boot with the option key down, get the "boot manager" screen, select the 10.4.11 PPC partition, and it boots to the same blue screen with cursor. Wha..??
Option-reboot; select the same 10.4.11 external partition, and hold shift key. Boots to my login screen as expected. I run Disk Utility, repair the internal disk.. It's fine. Boot off DiskWarrior v4 optical disk (no shift key), it boots fine, I rebuild the directory, no problems. Boot off Tiger retail installer disk (no shift key, just to see if it would), no problem. Boot back off my diagnostic drive, won't boot without shift key.. So I do, and I run the 10.4.11 combo PPC updater on the internal drive while booted from the external. It goes normally. Try to reboot internally, same thing (blue screen with cursor). Will still boot "normally" with the shift key down.
OK.. I back up the client's user folder, boot off Tiger DVD, launch Disk Utility, re-partition the drive (it had one partition, I re-created one partition), then I erased the entire drive, writing zeros at the same time. Install Leopard normally. Reboot after the install, blue screen with cursor. Reboot with shift down, I get through the normal OS setup assistant, it creates the client's user account & takes me to the desktop.
Reboot. Guess what.. Yup, blue screen + cursor. Reboot + shift, back in, I run Software Update, 3 times, I get the 10.4.11 update & some Java updates & QuickTime & iTunes etc. and after each boot, the only way to get to the login screen is to "shift" it.
On a hunch, I go into System > Library > Extensions and drag all the ATI kernel extensions to the trash, authenticating to do so (then from the trash to the desktop), and I reboot. Presto. I don't have to hold the shift key down for the computer to boot normally to the desktop. Of course, video is unaccelerated.
I told the client the machine needs a new logic board.
Any comments? Questions?
The one thing I did NOT do (and why I didn't, I'll never understand) was pop off the back & look at the logic board to see if there were any bulging or leaking capacitors..

For quite a while, I was SURE this had to be software.. But a clean install, after zeroing the HDD, kinda rules that out. One other step I took, but didn't mention, was booting into open firmware, and running set-defaults, reset-nvram, and reset-all - which of course made no difference.
My theory is that when you boot off a CD, there's no video acceleration, just basic video. Looking in System > library > extensions on a tiger DVD, there's only an ATIDriver.bundle, but none of the video acceleration extensions are there.. Maybe the video chipset is damaged in such a way that basic video works, but accelerated video stops the boot process before the login screen can appear. Verbose booting didn't give me any info I could understand, and of course, during a verbose boot, it still gets to the point where the GUI is ready to start loading before it stops.

I've reinstalled windows on my notebook, gotten all available updates from microsoft and HP using MS updates and the HPSA. I havent had a problem until I viewed a video clip on msn.com. Then I get a Blue screen producing this Tech information.Problem signature:

I understand that you have reinstalled Windows 7, and did all the updates through Windows update and the HPSA. You have not had any issues until you watched a video and then you got a blue screen with an error message.
Have you checked for viruses and malware? MS Malicious Software Removal Tool

Apple iPhone 5S blue screen and error 14 while restoring

Got my new iPhone 5S for 2 weeks. Suddenly he became to show blue screen of death and restore after about an hour. I read, that it can be caused by iWork apps, but i didn`t even open them. After another blue screen iPhone moved in a cyclic reboot. Tried to restore via itunes, but never finished because of blue screen when installing iOS and occured error #14. When i restart my Windows 2008 R2 server,suddenly a blue screen appeared. In the screen the message was like,
System malfunction call your hardware vendor for support. After getting this message i gave a force restart but while booting
i got another blue screen error in which i got the below error code

In the server machine LCD display i am getting another error message like,

The system BIOS has reported a chipset internal error that resides in bus ##, device ##, function ##.
Check the SEL for more information, and then clear the SEL. Remove AC power to the system for 10 seconds, and restart the system (SEL = System Event Logs)
So I probably contact the hardware vendor.

Blue Screen Error on Satellite A100-920 (PSAA9)

I had a blue screen error during normal use and after restart, Windows suggested updating the BIOS, so I updated it with the latest version (5.10). The next day, I got another blue screen and on restart, Windows suggested I update my display drivers, which I did (to ver. 8.241)... I have an ATI Radeon X1400 GPU. After doing that, the computer crashed every time it loaded windows, with a popup about services.exe telling me the computer would turn off in 60 seconds.
I assumed this was related to the display driver, so I replaced the drivers with an earlier-dated version (8.241-034065C). After I did this, it seemed to work and I could use the computer fine for a bit, even play games such as GTA but i am starting to get the blue screens again, usually just when opening folders, etc and not when running graphics-heavy applications. The problem definitely goes away when I disable my display drivers, but that's not much of a solution.
I turned off the reboot on error setting and this is the information from the blue screen of death:

Does anyone have any idea how I can sort this problem, it's driving me crazy!
I have downloaded the Omega drivers for the card, but am slow to install them as I hear they can cause overheating and I think ATI/Toshiba should be able to provide me with a solution without me having to use third party drivers.

I have Network Associates (McAfee) v. Enterprise 8. I ran a full virus scan with this and windows defender and a worm stinger utility and another microsoft app whose name I forget... all came up clean.
I tried the omega drivers out of frustration and they cause services.exe to terminate.
Could it possibly be a BIOS issue? I'm not sure how likely it is, since the computer definitely works with the display adapter enabled and will usually crash (BSOD) after anything from a few mins to a few hours with it enabled. I seem to be getting two types of reply from microsoft on restart, one saying there is a general driver fault and one saying there is a display driver fault and suggesting updating the display drivers.

Whenever I open Itunes it causes a blue screen with the error saying somthing about paged in a nonpaged area there is really nothing else to go on then that.

just doublechecking. is that an "0x00000050: PAGEFAULT_IN_NONPAGEDAREA" that you're getting, or are you getting different numerical and/or text codes with your blue screen?

Serial communication crashes with blue screen

I have been troubleshooting an application that consistently kept crashing/hanging after ~1 to 5 minutes. I am communicating with a syringe pump NE1000 from New Era (http://www.syringepump.com). If have finally isolated the problem to a VISA write function.
Configuration:
·         DELL INSPIRON running Win7 64 Bit
·         LabVIEW 2011SP1
USB to Serial RS-232 Adapter [ GUC232A ] http://www.iogear.com/product/GUC232A/
·         The driver for the GUC232A has just been updated to the latest version, but the same behavior was observed with the older driver dating back to 2009.
·         RS232 to “telephone cable” adapter:
·         Telephone cable to RS232 port on syringe pump
I was running the NI Desktop Execution Trace Kit while running the attached Test NE100X – Query Volume.vi. The log is attached, Trace Test NE100X - Query Volume vi (1_4_2013 _ 17_06_11_423180).ttd.
When I run the vi at a loop rate of 10ms, it hangs after 15889 events. (Occasionally, Win7 crashes with the Blue Screen of Death.) I did not find anything unusual in the trace report.
After the vi hangs, it becomes unresponsive. When I attempt to exit LabVIEW, I get the Resetting VI: … message, and LabVIEW is hanging and does not exit:
If I decrease the loop rate to 50 ms and 75 ms, the vi seems to be running longer, but still crashes after about 52000 events, or 25000 events,respectively. At a loop rate of 100ms, it is was running for 51 min and then I had another Blue Screen Windows crash.
What confuses me is that the system just hangs without giving me any timeout or error message. This makes the troubleshooting very difficult. A query rate of 10 Hz seems to be rather low. I wonder whether this is a hardware issue or some bug in the software. I appreciate your help in troubleshooting this issue. Thank you.

I can see several potential problems with this code. It looks as though what you are trying to do is to send a "DIS" command to the syringe pump and are then trying to read the data that the syringe pump sends back in response to this command.
1. How many bytes are you expecting to get back in response to the DIS command? You're attempting to read 1024 bytes. If you really are expecting 1024 bytes then you need to calculate how long that would take to arrive. If we assume that you're using a data word consisting of 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and no parity then the number of bytes you will receive per second = 19200 / (8 + 1) = 2133. Therefore 1024 bytes will take 1024/2133 seconds = 0.48 sec. Therefore there is no point having a loop rate of 10msec. 0.5 seconds would be better.
2. You haven't included the vi that initialises the serial comms so I can't see what timeout value you've assigned. You need to check that it is greater than the time it's going to take for your data to arrive.
3. If you're not expecting exactly 1024 bytes then you need a different strategy for reading back the data. Possible options are i) counting exactly how many bytes you actually do get and using that number in the byte count input, ii)reading data continuously in a small loop until a terminating character is seen. eg if a CRLF is returned at the end of the data, read continuously until you see this. I've attached a modified version of your vi that shows how to implement this last method.

Blue Screen of Death, 0x0000007B and 0x00000050

Today, when I was running Adobe Photoshop, my computer suddenly froze and some colors on the screen became "corrupted" (some yellow dots, lines and patches appeared throughout the screen). After the computer did not respond after 5 minutes, I then held down the power button to force a restart. When I tried to start it again, the HP logo appeared as usual, then came the black screen with the flashing in upper left corner (a little longer than usual I noted). Then came a screen where I was allowed to choose between, run startup recovery or normal mode. I chose startup recovery. A windowed showed which displayed "Windows is Loading Files" and a bar began filling up. Then the screen turned blue and I saw command prompt flash several times in upper left corner for fractions of a second. Then, without even the recovery window showing, a blue screen of death appeared with the code bearing "0x00000050" PAGE FAULT IN NON-PAGE AREA. This screen hung until I pressed the power button and the computer obeyed. I then began to use several other options that I hoped would fix it, Safe Mode, Last Known Safe Configuration, System Restore, though they all went back to the same "Windows is Loading Files" page. I noted that went I tried to launch from "Normal Mode", the BIOS screen would appear, then after the computer would display another Blue Screen of Death with the more famous code "0x0000007B" INACESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. Could someone please help me? I do not have that many important documents on this computer and I am willing to reboot it though I do not have any disks. Is there another way I can reinstall WIndows Vista? If there is a way that I can recover my files, that would be better. Thanks.

Update: I went into BIOS Setup Utility and performed a Primary Hard disk Self Test. Although the test didn't finish, it stopped with this message "#10009- Replace Hard Disk". I do not really want to order another hard drive, does anyone have a solution?

Windows 8 crashes and is stuck in blue screen help menu after trying to update to 8.1?

Hi all,after recieving a prompt yesterday by windows to update to 8.1 (about time!), I turned on my computer this morning to see that it was stuck on the HP boot logo. After 5-10 mins, I realised it must have started incorrectly so i shut it back down and booted it up again. After the boot logo passed, the windows 8 symbol appeared with "updating your system" or something along those lines. I let it there for a while (20 mins) then when I returned it said that the installation had faield and was "returning to previous version of windows" One thing led to another and when the computer restarted again, I am now stuck with the blue screen troubleshooting menu. Yes, this would be easy to fix by a refresh BUT... It says to enter the password for Admin, the non-existent admin account with a required password?I tried the start-up settings, but that just creates another blue screen of death.How am I to bypass the password and actually access my computer? Even if I were to delete everything?There is a cmd option... Anyone know any commands that would be appropriate?Thanks in advance, Josh

Dmp files and blue screen

I recently began experiencing blue screens on my laptop computer after I tried to upgrade to Windows 8.1, unsuccessfully at first. Truncating the issues occurring, I had to do a system restore, refresh, and another system restore, and eventually upgraded
to 8.1. After the first restore, I incurred blue screens when I tried to use a dial-up USB modem to log on to the Internet. It took over 3 months to identify the source. As it turned out, the culprit was my Internet Security Provider which had been upgraded
to the 2014 version from the 2013 version. 4 other drivers were being blamed as the culprit. Eventually, the Internet security provider took remote access on my computer and corrected their issue - which took over 2 hours, corrections to regedit, DOS, and
reinstallation.
That being said, before I knew this, my Windows 7 desktop computer(dial up modem - internal) was upgraded from 2013 version to 2014 (Trend Micro). I think I got a minidump about that time. Windows 7 does not announce the blue screen event
the same way Windows 8 or 8.1 does. I again experienced another blue screen day before yesterday, and a minidump file was created and a temp file. Sometimes my desktop has frozen without creating a miniedump file, so I need to restart. I again suspect the
culprit might be the Internet Security provider.
I have a link but am not being allowed to submit it until my account can be verified for some reason.
I am hoping I did the upload correctly and that you might be able to identify the source of my Windows 7 blue screen. This is the first time I have ever used Sky Drive (now One Drive). I haven't yet been able to figure out how to read the
files myself.

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
