Just upgraded and wish i had read this post first. Thought i was being thick and that there must be a scale slider somewhere.
Big Apple fan, but starting too lose patience with latest offerings from Cupertino. Dont these guys market test the products anymore?

1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

Movie file too large for iDVD

I have a 13GB .mov file created using FCE Exported w/QT Conversion (prior it was a 30GB file) but it's still too large to place on DVD using iDVD. Is there a way to (1) Shrink my file size to be compatible with iDVD or (2) re-set iDVD to accept larger file sizes (I don't use dual layer discs)? If the answer to both of those is no, is there a specific DVD conversion software that is more versatile than iDVD? Thanks

The length in time is what's important for burning to DVD, not the input file size. With iDVD you can burn a video up to 2 hours in length on a single-layer DVD-r (but that capacity includes your DVD menus, titles, etc.)
Assuming your source is DV video, your original 30GB file is about 2 hrs 20 mins long. You will either need to shorten your video to less than 2 hours, or cut your video into two segments and burn it to 2 DVD-R's (one segment on each DVD-R).
Compressing the way you did by exporting to QT Conversion is only going to make your video look worse and doesn't solve the length issue - you still have a 2 hr 20 min video. After you fix the length of the movie, you should export to QT Movie, and UNcheck the option for "Make movie self-contained".

Opening a file (viewed as icons) from within application icons too large!

Help! I'm not a newbie LOL.. I don't know when this error happened but apparently I cant just do a command J to get the view options to pop up while in an application. Here's my problem. I can view files as icons prefectly from within finder. I setup the default a long time ago and it is formatted fine. Now when I open a file from any application, for instnace firefox or NeoOffice.. .. all the icons are like 120x120 in size.. annoying. I attempted to use Alt-J to pop up view options, no go.. it appears you can't bring up view options while opening a file as an app, you can only alter view type.. icons/list/etc. Is there a command I can issue in applesrcipt or whatever to popup view options so I can fix this ?
I THINK I know how I foobarred it. I was playing around with preview and I jacked up the icon size so I can see larger images of the home movies I created.
that was when I was running 10.4.x
I've been looking through the knowledge bases, I didn't see anything.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

My movie is too large... what do I do?

Right now I am building a movie for my friends of our summer together. We basically did everything together, so I had a massive amount of media I wanted to put in the movie.
Now that I'm almost complete with the movie, I can see that it's going to be over the 4.0 GB limit of iDVD!
Right now the movie is only at 3.7 on the capacity meter, but it definately will be over that by the time I am finished.
Please help me out... is there any way of fixing my situation? Do I have to buy larger capacity DVD's? Change the capacity in iDVD? Compact the movie somehow?

Will the French patch make everything in iDVD read in French?
No, the website is using a localized French iDVD (that is why it is in French), the patch only changes the code to allow the selection option for 4GB/8GB (see iDVD 5.0.1: Burning Double-Layer DVDs ) Note: I believe some people have no success with the patch in Panther, I know it works for me with Tiger.
How do I burn the disk image once it's compacted?
If you going to use Toast, it is quite straight forward, it is in the user guide when you get it. If you want to use Apple Disk Utility application, here is the instruction: Burning a disk image file on a CD or DVD in Mac OS X.

Cannot enter passcode: keypad icons too large

When I went to use my iPhone 5S, I discovered the icons were enormous! Due to the huge size, I was unable to negotiate to the Settings menu, so I tried restarting the phone, thinking that might solve the problem. It did not.
Of course, I have to re-enter my passcode, and due to the huge size of the keypad icons, I was unable to enter my passcode, inadvertently hitting wrong numbers. My phone keeps disabling for increasing periods of time. I tried connecting to iTunes on my Macbook Pro, thinking I might get to Settings that way, but it asks me to enter the passcode on my phone.
Any ideas? I am afraid I will completely disable my phone.

Triple click Home to turn off zoom.
Log in to the iphone then go to Settings > General > Accessibility and disable Zoom.

Icons too large

I have solved my problem invokeing setFetchSize on ResultSet object.
like ResultSet.setFetchSize(1000).
But The problem sorted out for the less than 1 lack records. Still I want to do the testing for more than 1 lack records.

Fetch small amount of data iteratively instead of fetching whole data at once

If the client request for a search, the application might return the whole result set at once. This process takes lot of time and has an impact on performance. The solution for the problem is
1. Cache the search data at the server-side and return the data iteratively to the client. For example, the search returns 1000 records, return data to the client in 10 iterations where each iteration has 100 records.

HD movie file too large in FCE

I finished my first movie in FCE and it is about 4 minutes long. When I exported into .mov format, it is 2.4GB in size! When I exported out to .mpeg4, it is about 10meg, but the quality is poor. Some of the clips were done in HD format. How can I export this video into a manageable size with good quality?
PS - will eventually export to youtube, but would also like to publish to DVD with good quality

Try a forum search for exporting to iDVD and web export. There's a lot of information here.

ITunes library too large

When connecting MBP to Apple TV prompt appears "iTunes library too large"

iTunes prefs -> Advvanced.
SEt the iTunes library to a new drive.
It will still use the songs in the old location but new stuff will go to the new location.

Movie too large via imovie and no sound via idvd.

Help! I have a movie on a minidv tape that is one hour and 21 minutes long.
This is a very important tape and I dont want to delete any of it.
I don't understand why I can't create a dvd (which can hold a 2 hour movie).
If I use idvd it captures the video but there is no sound.
If I download it via imovie, then try to create a dvd, it tells me that the movie
is too large. How can it be too large if the movie is less than 2 hours and should be able to fit on the dvd.
Can anyone help this beginner. (I just bought this g5 yesterday).

Sounds can be tricky and iDVD can count in sounds that You thought be out-
side Your movie (stretching out after the video ended). If So re do the sound
part of Your movie and be carefull that no audio cont after the movie is ended.

Best Quality is for movies + menus more than 60 min and less than 120
Best Performances for movies + menu less than 60 min.

That is usually an indication that the Volume was never Erased or Partitioned for GUID partition table and Mac OS, and is still in a Windows format.
Mac OS X Extended (journaled) has no such file-size limitations

Itunes library too large and won't recognize all files, just new ones but

still shows the old ones and their location in the library. I was keeping the library on the 2TB external drive. It got too large. Now I want to put the music on one of the 1TB drives and just the videos on the 2TB drive. From my PC, I can watch everything.
I cannot download to an iPod or iTouch anything from the 2TB drive. When I hit max capacity, I temporarily started saving on one of my internal 2TB drives (space wh*re, I know)before I hit on what my solution would be, and now I can only download from that location. Why?
What can I do? I even tried switching the library location back, and it won't recognize anything. I'm screwed, and I have all this material... YEARS of collecting...

To clarify, currently on the 2TB external drive are music and videos. I want to split them up and hopefully save some space - and maybe foresee problems in the future when I hit max capacity on the 1TB external, and think about a 4GB (not the best option I see at this time) or another 2 2TB drives.
Doesn't the Library file just save locations when iTunes closes down so everything should be OK? I mean, the prog can recognize everything, it just won't download to anything, even if I move from the external drive an older movie to the new drive, it refuses to "see" the movie so I can download it.

I recently updated my iTunes to the lastest version (11.0). In the previous version I could adjust the movie icon sizes to make the icon larger or smaller. I can't easily figure out how to do that anymore. Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the movie icons in the new iTunes?

If there is an option for adjusting the size of the movie icons, I haven't been able to find it.
