Moving a design from Photoshop to DW [was: Now What??]

Hi All
Well I finally was able to design my home page in Photoshop, slice the image, save it as HTML and open it up in Dreamweaver.
http://homesalescfl.com/test/index
When it comes to adding new pages I am a little confused about a couple of things:
How can I make the main body (text area) flexible in length to accommodate more content on various pages, without having to create numerous individual pages?
When saving each page as HTML in Photoshop it creates a new image folder along with the HTML. What is the best way to manage these folders?
Thank you!

This is going to be the difficult part of coding up the page unless you are very familiar with css and the use of background images, and repeating background images.
I'd suggest going with Zabeths' suggestion of using a scrolling div, so that if you have more content on the page than the current height allows, that area just scrolls.
However, be aware that the content hidden in the scroller until it becomes visible will not be 'printable' by the viewer, if that is an important consideration for the site  (many business sites, do want some of their pages printed).
The current page has been built using a heck of a lot of AP Divs - typical of a graphics program spitting out html.  A graphics program should never be allowed to write html code, it's overfloated, very fragile and can break in various browsers.  For example - and this is too bad actually, I've seen worse, increase the magnification of the design a few notches in IE, and you'll see white lines floating through various areas of the site.  In some cases, the text can actually break out of all the containers.

  • Using HTML file from Photoshop in Dreamweaver (Was: Help.....Newbie Here)

    Hi
I'm new to dreamweaver. I know a bit of photoshop and wanted create a simple  website using photoshop and dreamweaver. I created a layout and sliced out the different parts and when saved as web, it created a set of image files and a html file.
Now when I placed this html file in dreamweaver, everything got right just as I created in photoshop but when I tried to place an swf file on an image which was sliced out from the photoshop, the other images (sliced on photshop) get scrambled in dreamweaver. I tried everything but I can't understand how to place an object Even while placing text on an image file, the whole layout gets scrambled.
Any help please. I want to place a swf file and also write a heading "radio player" above the swf file on an image in dreamweaver.
    Thanks

Slicing the design from Photoshop will give you 'image' output - this is very bad practice. You're only supposed to slice design elements & use CSS to put them together within a webpage.
I'd recommend you take some time out and go through this tutorial before continuing to work - http://net.tutsplus.com/articles/news/slice-and-dice-that-psd/
This will give you a quick walkthrough of how you can re-create the PSD design using CSS for building a 'proper' website.

  • I accidentally moved iPhoto off from my tool bar.  Now i get the message that iPhoto can't open because it may be damage or incomplete.

I accidentally moved iPhoto off from my tool bar.  Now i get the message that iPhoto can't open because it may be damage or incomplete.  Can someone help?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Moving locked photos from photoshop 3 to elements 7 to unlock them.

When I migrated photos from a locked photoshop 3 on one hard drive to photoshop elements 7 on another hard drive, I still cannot get the photos to open, I get the missing file message and it will not reconnect the missing file or locate the missing file. The two hard drives do not have the same serial number. Can anyone tell me how to get the photos from the locked photoshop 3 to elements 7 or how to correct the missing file problem.

Photoshop elements 3.0 starter edition was installed on my computer by
Dell.  I upgraded to photoshop elements 4.0 but did not register the
3.0 edition.  I did register the 4.0 edition.  I want to move photos
    from 3.0 to 4.0
I am confused about your exact sequence of events
Did you ever actually use that version 3 starter edition which came preloaded?
(you mention seeing photos behind the Register v3 pop-up)
You say that you upgraded to version 4 - did you upgrade just recently ? I wonder because PSE 4 first became available in the 4th quarter of 2005.
Also, a more specific question -- did you import any new photos to the version 4 Organizer catalog? Or are all your photos in the v3 starter edition?
Normally, I would expect that you could upgrade the v3 starter edition catalog to a v4 PSE catalog AND that you would do that upgrade before you started to use PSE 4.
Perhaps the answeers to my questions above will provide more information so that I and others on the forum can make recommendations.

  • Moving iWeb designs from one machine to another?

    Okay,
I've had time to use iLife apps enough to figure out a few things in the new "iWeb", but here is one that scratches my brain.
    Where does iWeb save designs?
I have a design I have created on my PBook, but I would love to move it to my G5 so that I can work in it when I get home? -But where does it save the assets to the current pages? -am I stuck on creating and managing pages on one machine? And if I do, is there no way from the source area to be able to select a page and delete it from the site structure if I don't like the design or content?

    Where does iWeb save designs?
    Users/usename/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain
Move this file to the other machine to work on the site there.

  • Tiffs imported from photoshop are flickering in FCP, what did i do wrong?

    Hello there,
I am making a short animation for a museum using high res tiff and jpgs of fingerprints. I changed the color, etc in photoshop and imported then to FCP. After adding some basic animation (e. rotation, scale, and movements) the images are flickering and are no longer clear. Is this a problem with the pixel aspect ratio when importing? I have tried exporting as several files formats but all look crappy. Any advice please this porjects needs to be completed and I am more of a designer rather than editor. HELP!

First of all, high resolution images mean nothing in video.
    http://www.scantips.com/no72dpi.html
Second, are any of the portions of the images showing one or two pixel lines? They will flicker.
If you are doing a scale or rotation, start with a pixel aspect ratio twice the size of your sequence settings, and 1 dpi.
    See if that works.
I say add a little gaussian blur, but that might remove some of the detail

  • I moved my library from laptop to desktop and now it's all messed up...help

So I moved my itunes library from my laptop to my desktop and when i synced the my 4GB ipod for the first time (formerly held about 700+ songs), it will now only hold around 400. Any ideas why it's doing this?
    Thanks!!

Did you use the iPod to move the music from one computer to another?
If so, you may still have some files on there.
Restore the iPod to reclaim the storage space.

  • Can I get refund for item purchased from App store that was not what I thought?

I wanted to purchase iDVD but instead purchased an instructional video.

    HI..
Sorry, but Apple's policy states that, "all sales are final" >  iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Just in case you are running v10.7 Lion, Lion does not support iDVD.

  • I downloaded Photoshop Elements 10. Now What?

There are so many files. Deploy, install, etc. I installed it and now where is it? I just want to open the file and have it on my desktop everytime I want to use Photoshop

Which operating system are you using?  For Windows you can find the program under Start>All Programs.  For Mac OS you will find the Photoshop Elements folder inside your Applications folder.
You are welcome to make a shortcut/alias of the Program and place it on your desktop.  I would advise you to not just move the program itself as it will either no longer work or you will significantly reduce it's functionality since it will no longer have access to it's associated support files.

  • Imported asset from Compressor with chapter markers- Now what?

I put chapter markers in (Compressor) before submitting in Compressor. I have opened DVDPro and imported the asset which is divided up into 6 chapters. I want each chapter to have a button. I have a template I have chosen with 8 buttons and deleted two of them. How do I activate those buttons according to the chapter breaks? I feel I am close... Thanks!

Thanks. Tried to read the manual but became very confused. I'm recovering from surgery and it's alot to absorb right now and I'm under a deadline- easier to ask a question. For what it's worth, I did read the FC6 manual

  • HT4623 Cannot update from iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 7...says that I cannot verify because I am not connected to the internet when I am clearly connected to the internet. I've tried from home and school.  Now what?

I am trying to update an iPad 2 to iOS 7.  It hasn't updated since iOS 6.1.3.  When I try to update it, I get a msg box that tells me I cannot verify because I am not connected to the internet.  This is not true because I AM connected to the internet here at school.  I've tried at home and it does the same thing.  What to do now?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Move a design from PS to Indesign

    Hi All,
I have designed a full colour event poster in Photoshop (CS5) in A3 size.
The design itself uses photographs with various layer styles, texture (background) images with pixel gradient masks, text and some .eps logos
The problem that i have come across after designing it is that the final exported pdf (in print quality) is too large for the recipient. They have suggested supplying the art in indesign format (or using indesign to create the .pdf)
While i have a vague knowledge of how to use indesign, i really don't know what i need to do to get my design from Photoshop to indesign and maintain the look of the poster.
So.. Just wondering if anyone would be able to give me an idea of the best way to go about this.
Any help would be much appreciated.... Thanks

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I think my reasons for moving to indesign were due more to my lack of knowledge than the recipients requests.
I think i need to proivide a little more info to be clear.
The poster is designed in A3 at 300dpi (images are all 300dpi)... but will be downsized to an A4 advertisement in a magazine.. and upsized to an A2 poster for promotion of the event.
It is my understanding that it would be best to keep all text and logos as vector objects so they maintain their sharpness when upsized. I have also converted all text to shape layers before saving the pdf from photoshop.
I guess my question was as much about what would be the best way to do it in the future, as it was about solving my current problem..
Any further tips or advise would be welcome.
I have managed to get the file size down to 33mb using your suggestions... thanks
