Moving a Layer based on percentages via action scripting.

Hi,
I am trying to create an action script that will move a layer 90% to the left or right. Can this be done thru actions or is it something that can only be done via JS Scripting. The reason I need percentages is not all images are the same dimensions.
TIA

You should be able to do it with either.
With an action set you ruler to percent, select all on the layer you want to move and with the move tool move the image. The amount of the move will be recorded in percent.
With a script use activeDocument.activeLayer.translate( new UnitValue(.9,'%'),undefined) to move to the right or activeDocument.activeLayer.translate( new UnitValue(-.9,'%'),undefined)to move to the left

  • Centered placing of a mc onto another via action script

    Hello,
    i have problems to place a mc object (any rectangle) centered
    onto another mc object (any rectangle) via as-code. Via the polar()
    method it is possible to translate points with a certain distance
    and angle. I tried with that method to place the first rectangle
    centered onto the second rectangle. It works fine for an angle of 0
    degrees for the second rectangle. But if you change the angle of
    the second rectangle the determination is no more correct.
    Can someone someone help me?
    You just have to create 2 rectangles as movieclips in a flash
    document and name them as "draggedObject" and "dropObjects". Then
    attach the following as-code and try out:
    draggedObject.x = dropObjects.x; // draggedObject is the red
    rectangle, dropObjects the blue rectangle
    draggedObject.y = dropObjects.y;
    var angle1 = dropObjects.rotation;
    angle1 = 2 * Math.PI * (angle1 / 360);// angle to Bogenmass
    draggedObject.rotation = dropObjects.rotation;
    var newPoint = Point.polar(dropObjects.width/2 -
    draggedObject.width/2, angle1);
    draggedObject.x = draggedObject.x + newPoint.x;
    draggedObject.y = draggedObject.y + newPoint.y;

    well, there are several ways to align objects on the stage.
    1) construct the objects so that thier registration points
    are in the center of the object, then either can be aligned to the
    center 0,0 of the other, and rotated about that point.
    2) if the objects registration point is in the upper left
    corner, use the Stage's width and height properties to align the
    obects to the center, by setting the _x position of the object by
    subtracting the width of the object from the width of the Stage and
    dividing the result by two. do this again each time you rotate an
    object, as the bounding box is changed to accomidate the entire
    bounds of the shape, after rotation occurs.
    AS2: draggedObject._x += (Stage.width - draggedObject._width)
    / 2;
    AS3: draggedObject.x += (stageWidth - draggedObject.width) /
    2;
    (I am uncertain if this is the correct method of calling of
    the AS3 'stageWidth' property here, as I'm new to AS3)
    3) there are more ways to accomplish this, but this should be
    enough for now.

    Hi,
    is there or will there be any possibility of accessing the Acrobat SDK via Action Script 3?
    As far as I know the Acrobat SDK is based on the C programming language. I wonder if there will be an integration with Adobe AIR, Flash, Flex technologies, i.e. a bridge to Action Script 3.
    Any news, help, ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • CS4 continuously crashes when moving a layer?

    Hi there,
    I'm experiencing an extremely irritating bug that causes CS4 to crash whenever moving a layer.
    I'm on OSX 10.6.4, the camera raw is 5.7 and the version of CS4 is 11.
    I have tried re-installing CS4 twice now and there is now change.
    Every timer a layer is moved there's a crash.
    If there's anyone who can maybe offer a little advice, I'd be very grateful.

    11 might be a bit old, have you never updated Photoshop at all?
    Boilerplate-text:
    As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences vou’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
    System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

  • Action script for batch-opening psd layer files flat? (alt+shift?)

    hi
    i am daily batch processing with an action script to make flat tiffs from psd layer files, like 10-100 files every couple of days in my workflow.
    until now i could not fine a solution to begin the batch processing-action with opening layer files FLAT.
    the reason is: i am working with huge files, 5-20GB .psb files, (16bit, ECI-RGB, 50x100cm, 300dpi) and it takes a couple of seconds to open with my pcie-SSD.
    that multiplies the time it takes to open 50 of such files. i would gain a lot of time, if photoshop cs6 would not open it with layers, but flat.
    there is a workaround i am using daily: (osx) hold alt+shift, then click on the layer file in the finder and cs6 opens it flat.
    but that did not work in the action script. it doesnt store the keyboard command alt+shift.
    any idea how i could save time and use the alt+shift command in the action script or any other solution please?
    thanks
    peter

    I just tried to record this using ScriptListener, and it didn't record it either.  No indo in the ExtendScript SDK on this either.  I don't think that this is possible at this time.  Maybe someone who know more than I do can find a way.

  • Smartform Mail Sending via Action profile

    Hi,
    we have a big problem, because our sended emails going into customers spam filter. We hava SAP CRM 5.0 and we send the emails via action profile.
    For that we use the standard for sending smartforms via action profile. Follwing problems are occured:
    1) email recipient is fill only in the cc field, not in the to field of an email
    2) the subjet ist the sam as the dcument name
    3) the emial is sended without text only whith attachment
    So my question are:
    how can i customize that the email is wirtten in the to field and how i can change the subject of this mail.
    Is ist possible to add a text to the email? Maybe not, but than we could add a disclaimer in the mail hub - so my firts questions are more importent for me.
    Thank you for your help
    Stefan

    Hi,
    To manipulate the subject Refer   Note 895550 - Name of Smart Form used as e-mail subject
    Im not sure why the email recipient is in CC instead of To. Please check your Action settings. How are you determining the recipient? if it's by partner function, it should automatically be filled in To field.
    Smartforms can be sent either as Text or pdf attachment. This is controlled globally in SMTP settings in SCOT. I believe you can choose attachment option and also add some text by manipulating the Action class.
    HOpe this helps.

  • Top Link Special Considerations in moving to Cost Based Optimizer....

    Our current application architecture consists of running a Java based application with Oracle 9i as the database and toplink as the object relational mapping tool. This is a hosted application about 5 years old with stringent SLA requirements and high availability needs. We are currently using Rule Based Optimizer (RBO) mode and do not collect statistics for the schemas. We are planning a move to Cost Based Optimizer (CBO)
    What are the special considerations we need to be aware of from moving RBO to CBO from top link perspective. Is top link code optimized for one mode over the other ?. What special parameter settings are needed ?. Any of your experience in moving Top Link based applications to RBO and best practices will be very much appreciated.
    -Thanks
    Ganesan Maha

    Ganesan,
    Over the 10 years we have been delivering TopLink I do not recall any issues with customizing TopLink for either approach. You do have the ability to customize how the SQL is generated and even replace the generated SQL with custom queries should you need to. This will not require application changes but simply modifications to the TopLink metadata.
    As of 9.0.4 you can also provide hints in the TopLink query and expression framework that will be generated into the SQL to assist the optimizer.

  • PS CS5: outline box while moving a layer

    When moving a layer in Photoshop CS5, there's now a gray box that appears around the layer while you move it. This is SO distracting! I've been googling this to find a way to turn it off, and could only find a few reviews that mentioned it. Those reviews touted this as a feature, but I have no clue how this could possibly be useful. I'm moving layers to find a placement that looks good, and a random gray rectangle is NOT helpful!
    Is there any way to turn this off? I've been searching through the preferences but no luck.

    Success! Thanks Craig.
    I found it here: http://mac.softpedia.com/progDownload/Photoshop-CS5-Optional-Plugins-Download-77034.html
    Unfortunate that we have to turn to third parties, but I'm glad there's an easy solution to this one!
    For reference, here's the review I mentioned before:
    http://www.macworld.com/reviews/product/464051/review/photoshop_cs5.html
    "Other additions include a ghosted outline as you drag layer content using the Move tool (helpful when moving small items)"
    Helpful, sure!

  • Moving mask layer also moves layer underneath

    Ref: Lynda course http://www.lynda.com/home/DisplayCourse.aspx?lpk2=55426 Last item in Chapter 2, "Pasting into Layer Mask" demonstrates that after pasting the layer mask (sketch of a tree) onto another layer, you can then move it into place with the "move" tool. While following along, when I tried to move it, it also cut out and moved the layer that I pasted the tree onto. I noticed that the "move" tool has a pair of scissors attached to it that I can't get rid of. I figure that's the culprit. What am I **** wrong? I have the mask layer selected in the layers panel and doing everything as in the tutorial. I repeated the tutorial 3 times with the same result.
    I have CS4 Windows.
    The files "drawing" and "sketch" are the lesson images. The objective is to make a layer mask out of the tree sketch and to place it onto the "paper" layer and then moving it into place as if the hand is doing the sketching.  "layer cut out.PSD" is my result. You can see part of the drawing pad is cut out

    I got it! (I think) I did not have to deselect anything. I can move it as long as I click on the unselected part of the layer mask AND the chain unlinked. The tutorial did it with chain linked and moving from within the selected area of the mask (tree). Maybe her workspace was set up differently but I set mine up according to her directions as well. Lynda.com will have to explain that one, but I'm happy as long as I was able to do it. By the way, those tutorials on Lynda are great for the most part and definitely worth the money. I just wish I had more time to sit through them all.
    I know you guys are way beyond this petty stuff, but if I get stuck here I'm in trouble. Thanks.

  • Button Rollover without Layer-based-MENU

    Hello everybody !
    i want to realize a "rollover-Effect" with a script or anything. I know the great possibilities with the layer-based-menu, but the dvd should run on every player. Do anybody have some tips for me?
    Thank you
    Greeting
    Alex

    When you say rollover effect, are you trying to get additional graphics to show up as buttons are selected, or simply illuminate a button as it is rolled over?
    Have you read up on button highlight masks? There are limitations, but this method can get images to appear as buttons are selected.

  • Script for naming Layer-based Slices after Layers?

    Is there a script (PScc) for layer-based slicing in which the slices are named after their associated layers? I've done a lot of searching and it looks like this might have been in older versions of PS but I have not found anything recent.
    I don't have much experience with Javascript personally so I'm hoping someone has tackled this before. Thanks in advance!

  • Action Script to add MC as sub-pages ??

    Alright please help.. I have tried everything, been fooling
    around with this in the past 5 hours and its not going anywhere :(
    . Here is what i have. :
    I have 6 menu buttons... Button 4 is what i am concentrating
    on.
    at the moment here is the current action script of button 4 :
    --CODE---
    //-----this first few lines just controls the button
    animation --
    on (rollOver) {
    if (_root.link<>4) {
    gotoAndPlay("s1");
    on (releaseOutside, rollOut) {
    if (_root.link<>4) {
    gotoAndPlay("s2");
    //-----end of button animation-----
    on (release) {
    _root.scroller.scroller.gotoAndStop(3); // I understand this
    calls for fram 3 in an mc within an mc.
    if (_root.anim==true) { // not really sure where this means
    if (_root.link<>4) { // if value of _root.link
    <> 4 then activate the following code
    _parent["but"+_root.link].gotoAndPlay("s2"); // I kind of
    understand this part, i know it has to do with playing the button
    animation, but i am stuck where it says "but" + _root.link .
    _root.link = 4; // value of root.link
    _root.all.play();
    ok so basically, from what i can figure out what this action
    script does is : somehow it calls out a mc called "all action page"
    and the contents inside this mc are two layers. one layer is just a
    stop frame, and the other layer has multiple frames, each frame in
    the layer are each different mc's .. the _root.value is the value
    of each frame, for example if i change the value to 2 or 3 it will
    load frame 2 or 3 within the "all action page" mc..
    now my question, is is there any way i can replicate this
    script for the use of button 4 ?? i know i can just keep adding new
    frams and mc's to the current "all action page" and just keep
    changing the value that corresponds to the frame number, but i
    would like to make it more neater and structured incase if i need
    to change anything. any suggestions ??

  • FLASH MX 2004 action script question

    Hi!
    I need to create an script for a basic function; when mouse goes over a moveclip, that works also link, I want it to trigger an invisible red dot on a nerby map. I have created a movieclip and named it "red", it's a 1 sec clip with nothing in the beginning and a red dot in the end. I want this dot to trigger and show only when mouse goes over this specific link, otherwise it must be invisible.
    I know this is pretty basic stuff and I have done this before few years back but I have forgotten how to do it and need help now.
    Any help would be very much appreciated :-)
    Kim

    I still need help, this problem is little more complicated;
    I can manage making the red dot visible and invisible by triggering roll over and roll out on a button.
    The problem is, I have a navbar which is line of flags made to a movie clip, with 5 invisible buttons. These buttons are configured to do three different actions; get URL, trigger a light effect and a movement effect.
    Now I need this invisible button to trigger my red dot also so that when mouse is over a certain flag a red dot appears on a map on the correct location.
    I have the red dot on a new layer. It has instance name "redDot" and on the very first frame of this red button layer, I have action script that says: redDot._visible = false;
    This works as it should and the dot is invisible when the movie has loaded.
    I need to make this invisible button to trigger the visibility of my red dot, and I have tried to add the code:
    on (rollOver) {
    redDot._visible = true;
    on (rollOut) {
    redDot._visible = false;
    to this invisible button, but it dosent work, furthermore it affects the other functions of the button/movie clip, which were working fine before.
    Here is the code attached to this invisible button so far:
    on (release) {
    getURL(/:url1);
    on (rollOver) {
    gotoAndPlay(2);
    on (rollOut) {
    gotoAndPlay("sec");
    I have the URL:s on an external text file.
    So my question is; where do I add the action script to make it visible when moving the mouse over this invisible button? To my understanding, it should go in the same place as the other code that is working, but I'm doing something wrong...
    I tried to do this:
    on (release) {
    getURL(/:url1);
    on (rollOver) {
    gotoAndPlay(2)
            redDot._visible = true;
    on (rollOut) {
    gotoAndPlay("sec")
    redDot._visible = false;
    But it is wrong, I also tried like this:
    on (release) {
    getURL(/:url1);
    on (rollOver) {
    gotoAndPlay(2);
    on (rollOut) {
    gotoAndPlay("sec");
    on (rollOver) {
    redDot._visible = true;
    on (rollOut) {
    redDot._visible = false;
    But it makes the other functions that worked to stop working.
    I also tried to give the invisible button an instance name and do it like this:
    invisible.on (rollOver) {
            redDot._visible = true;
    invisible.on (rollOut) {
    redDot._visible = false;
    And put them in the actions layer of button movie clip but nothing works.
    Flash is really giving me a headache now...
    To conclude, I made a simple test button, put it on the scene somewhere and and attached the rollOver and rollOut codes, targeting the "redDot" and it works fine, the button didn't need a instance name to work. I don't understand why I can't make it to work with the invisible button where it should be.
    I hope this clarifies the point and I can get some help with this and sorry for bothering again with this problem.
    Oh and I use old Flash MX 2004.
    Thanks
    Kim
