Moving Child keyword out from under Parent

I've discovered that I have some Child keywords nested under a Parent keyword by mistake.  How can I disassociate them?  Also, other than when I'm generating a new keyword, how can I add a Child keyword to a Parent, other than by dragging and droping?  This becomes a bit tedious when the list becomes rather long.  Thanks.

Miquel,
If you are typing into the "click here to enter Keywords" box, I think you can also enter new keywords in the following format: child>parent>grandparent>etc. such that it places it correctly in the structure if the higher category keywords exist.  It is not really all that efficient but an alternative to the other suggestion (which is also not all that efficient).
Since new keywords always end up at the bottom of my list, it is still most efficient for me to drag and drop them at the end of my session before exporting or saving.

  • Moving subcategory keywords out of its parent category.

    I found a work around to my problem, but would like to know if I'm overlooking a better method.
    Like many of you I have a long list of keywords organized in a heirarchy of categories and sub-categories. I wanted to elevate a sub-category to the root level of the heirachy but was not able to do so. Every attempt to drag the sub-category out highlighted an existing item (single keyword or category) on the root. Dropping placed the category I'm trying to move "inside" that highlighted item.
    I looked for a keyboard way to "move" a selected item (up/down or outside the parent category), but found none.
    Eventually, I created a root level keyword with the same name as the sub-category I was trying to move. Then I was able to move the contents of the original sub-category to the new root-level keyword and drop them on it, thus changing it to a category keyword.
    Am I missing an easier way? Not that it was difficult, but before realizing the solution I found it quite frustrating that I could not move the sub-category out.
    Thanks.

  • Move child movie clip from one parent object to another

    Hi everyone,
    I am somewhat new to AS3, and I'm having a hard time working out the most appropriate way to move a child movieclip between parent objects.
    I'm creating a board-game type game wherein I've dynamically created an array of 'Square' movieclips, with no visual elements, which are arranged in a 10x10 rectangle on the stage. I then dynamically add the appropriate types of piece movieclips to the various squares with the addChild() method. In general, a square should only have one child piece at a time.
    All of this works well for setting up the play area, but now I'm having an issue with moving a piece from one square to another. I want to have the user click a square with a piece on it, then click the destination square to move the piece. I have the logic for determining where a user can move any given piece to, but I don't know how to actually move the piece.
    The pieces are all different class objects that extend both a base class I call Piece as well as the MovieClip class. The main issue is that when dynamically adding the various pieces to the squares, I don't provide them a unique name to access them later. I don't bother with unique names because I have no way of knowing which piece instance will be in a given square, so using getChildByName(name:String) isn't very useful.
    So I can think of two routes that I can take: Making a getter/setter for the Square class that manages a private Piece property (as well as the adding and removing of the child piece to/from the parent square), or using getChildAt(index:int) to try to access the child piece.
    I want to go with the first route as it seems to be the most maintainable to me. My problem is that I can't work out how to manage empty squares in this scenario. My instinct is to null to private _piece property of one square once I've moved the child piece instance to another square... but I'm fairly certain that the private property is a reference type, and nulling it out will null the actual piece object even after it's changed parents.
    I'm sorry for the long description. I'm hoping that my lack of experience with as3 it what's causing my trouble, and that someone more well versed will know of the best way to handle this. Maybe I'm overthinking everything.
    If something isn't clear, please feel free to ask me for clarification. I would appeciate any help that anyone may be able to offer.
    Thanks!
    - Scott

    for a square with a child, you can use:
    whateversquare.getChildAt(0);  // to reference whateversquare's only child.  although, if there are graphics in whateversquare, you may need to use getChildAt(1)
    or, if you want to use a square class getter/setter, what's the problem?  an empty square will return null.

    What is the way to actually contact Apple?
    I have been clicking around in circles for hours! Will I have to pay them to resolve this? I don't have any products still have applecare . . .

    I had the same problem. Used can of compressed Air, and it did nothing more than scatter the dust all over the screen as opposed to the corner it was in. I even was able to peal back the screen front a little to get the straw from the canned air under the screen. Still did nothing. This is the 2nd played Ive had with this issue, the st player was exchanged due to this issue. I would also like to point out that I called creative tech support and they supposedly have no knowledge of this issue, although on every single review site you look the sleek up on, that is the most common complaint. I'll also add that I sell these devices where I work and Ive heard some customer feedback, and they too have the same complaint. Any ways Ive searched far and wide and it seems the only other solution I have is to rip off the screen shield and clean the LCD directly. Now if I was to do that I'm then presented with the issue of getting it back on without glue damaging the LCD. I know this is a long rant but if there is any one who actually read this whole thing and has some advice, please let me know. Thank you very Much

  • Enabling firewire out from Color?

    Has anyone attempted to edit the file in color where it says video output disabled?
    I truly believe that Silicon Color the originator of Color intended for firewire out to be enabled, is it possible the apple made a deal with the AJA Kona and the Black Magic design that make the cards for video output to boost their sales?
    If you are just working with standard DV, firewire out should be available don't you agree?
    in one of the forums a user asked this question and several responded, if you want to play colorist, you must pay the big bucks, but why? if there is a way around.
    I look forward to some feedback
    Thanks
    Sigi

    Maybe Sigi lives closer to the source, and knows something the rest of us don't (and obviously there is much that is unknown), but...
    if you're strictly going on "faith", my perception is that Final Touch was NEVER intended to work over FireWire; the original team considered anything less than a 3-monitor Kona/Blackmagic configuration to be at best a joke, and at worst an insult. Maybe both. But that was a long time ago in computing terms.
    But here's some financial and historical background that might be instructive, and may help to shed some light on the path this app has been following.
    FT was originally envisioned to be a dpx DI solution, but for business case considerations was diverted into a Quicktime corrector, and further perverted to work with Long-GOP formats, and then purchased (rescued?) and scabbed onto FCS2. COLOR 1.0, as most FCP users came to know it, was really FT version 2.7+? or maybe 8-something. We all got the rug pulled out from under us virtually within days of 2.7 Release Candidate 2 being posted on the old Silicon Color website. The whole thing went dark from October 2006 until April 2007. Six months, no support, no news, no fixes, no updates, no contact, nothing. Some of us had spent anywhere between $5K and $32K depending on whether one opted for the HD or 2K versions. Apple's compensation for the lost investment was a "free" upgrade to FCS2.... if you still had a valid Support contract. Now, interestingly enough, sales were suspended as of October 2006. FTHD service contracts were only valid for a couple of months, while 2K licenses came with a year of support. So effectively all of the HD licensees' contracts expired in that period. As compensation, Apple offered them an "upgrade" to FCS2, including COLOR, for $US499. The 2K licensees whose contracts still hadn't expired effectively wound up with a $30,000 version of Final Cut that came with a slightly better integrated Final Touch. (If they argued in order to receive it.)
    Just like Warren Buffett said.... "There were mistakes made". I don't know if its a widespread attitude, but COLOR, née Final Touch, as it exists now, still has the feel of an "awkward child". You could say "special needs" if you follow my meaning. It has lost all of the cachet that it might have had as a serious grading tool. Speedgrade is pretty much the indie choice of the moment if you can't afford a Lustre, Baselight, Scratch, or whatever, etc. (At least my Tangent panels would work with the new system.) Apple's non-presence at NAB2008 pretty much suggested "withdrawal" in the eyes of broadcast professionals. The rampant secrecy that the company operates under is poison if there are large budgets involved -- consumers might find the whole thing delightful because they like to be surprised. You'd be amazed at how dim the view is from completion bonding companies when certain technical solutions are suggested as part of a project's workflow.
    Showstopper is the word.
    So, now you want FireWire for your SD projects. It seems like a trivial thing, doesn't it? But how would you assess the odds of that happening?
    Given the history of decline, maybe you will get your wish. And then the app will be remaindered like LiveType and Shake. Because there will be no business case to put further R&D into it. I know, Apple sells hardware and the software is the frosting on the cake. I understand that. But the math of the bottom line will also start speaking louder than anything else. Under present economic circumstances maybe sooner than later.
    Anything in this that is not true? Let me know.

  • Plastic film sticking out from glass iPhone 6

    Hi,
    I picked up an Iphone 6 this past weekend, and when I got home I realized that a VERY small piece of plastic film is sticking out from "under" the edge of the glass on the face.  The film is only 1 or 2 millimeters in size.
    Soft of thin film like sometimes "peels off" new electronics.  I would grab it and pull - but just in case, if anyone else has encountered this issue.
    Is it safe to pull it off?
    thanks
    David

    Personally, if you're able to, I'd take it to the Apple Store and let them remove it.  If they can't, they'll replace the phone.

  • Child Keywords not following Parent

    I am just new to LR and sorting out all the keywording. I have the impression that when I drag a parent keyord to an image all f the child keywords should also be added. Is this correect or have I misunderstood?
    I created a parent "Girls" under which I have my childrens names as "children". When I drag "girls" to an image I just get "girls" added in keywording box. Also the numbers of images for the children" don't change.
    Thanks any advice as like to get this right before I get too far!!!

    So the following taken from the LR Help is just wrong or badly written?
    "Keyword tags can be created as children of parent keyword tags. When applying a parent keyword tag to photos, the child keyword tags are also applied."
    The implication is you apply the parent and get all children applied as well. At least I won't waste any time going down that blind alley. Thank you

  • Runtime ik springs: child nodes break when a parent node is moved

    There is something wrong with IK armature springs when used in runtime mode. Child nodes become disjointed with user interaction of parent nodes.
    Drag spring on right from different points to see bug here: http://gardenofpossibilities.org/flash/ik_spring_runtime_bug/spring_runtimebug.html
    I filed this as a bug, but wanted to mention it here in case others have a similar problem or anyone has a workaround:
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Build simple movieclip based armature
    2. add springs to bones
    3. set armature to runtime and publish
    Results:
    Armature child nodes become disjointed with user interaction of parent nodes. Same disjointed behavior occurs when armature is moved with actionscript 3 ik.mover.
    Expected results:
    Armature nodes should remain properly connected when user or actionscript 3 ik_mover moves any node.
    My Analysis:
    When springs are 0 (no spring) armature works correctly. It appears that the problem is caused by child nodes pivoting at parent node head, when they should actually pivot at parent node tail. Also, when armature becomes disjointed, dragging or moving tail node (furthest from root) restores joints.
    I've posted and example of the bug here: http://gardenofpossibilities.org/flash/ik_spring_runtime_bug/spring_runtimebug.html
    ...and a .zip archive of the fla: http://gardenofpossibilities.org/flash/ik_spring_runtime_bug/
    Please enlighten me on what is wrong, how to fix (if possible). If this is a documented bug, please provide a reference to it.
    Thanks!

    I posted this two months ago. Does anybody have anything to add on this issue? Are there any Adobe programmer/engineers out there? I've even filed a bug report, but have not received any feedback. Not a peep. Please?

  • Executing Child Taskflow Method from parent taskflow page

    Hi All,
    I have one issue with checking dirty data form Parent Taskflow button to check dirty data update in Child Taskflow page's view Object.
    JDev version: 11.1.1.3
    Scenario :
    Outer Container page has back button which need to check wherethere child taskflow has dirty data update or not. Child Taskflow transaction is always create new transaction and non-shared. But from ControllerContext, the root am service still associated with other viewobjects i.e. is loaded in others tabs in that outer container page, which is also checking dirty data from another tabs' viewobject dirty data checking (I need to avoid this issue that's why not working for me with controller context). I am thining to execute the child taskflow method from parent page on back button to check dirty data update for that tabs' page only. For it, how can we get access child taskflow method from parent page with static region taskflow. Is there any solution to implement like this? thank you so much.
    - Robin

    Hi,
    this should work:
    1. child task flow has input parameter "parentBean" defined.
    2. The child task flow has a managed bean "ChildBean" defined in pageFlowScope with a property "parentBean" with setter/getter.
    3. the parentBean input parameter references (in its value roperty) #{pageFlowScope.childBean.parentBean}
    4. The parent bean is configured on the parent view task flow (viewScope) and passed as a task flow binding input parameter. The parent bean has a boolean property "childFlowTransactionDirty"
    This allows the child bean to invoke the parent bean childFlowTransactionDirty to tell it that the transaction is dirty. On the parent view, you would just check the parentBean state for this property.
    Next is how you set the value on the parentBean from the childTaskFlow. One option is to use a RegionController on the PageDef file of ADF bound views in the child task flow.
    public class MyRegionController implements RegionController {
        public MyRegionController(){
        public boolean refreshRegion(RegionContext regionContext) {
         int refreshFlag = regionContext.getRefreshFlag();
          //get access to the ChildBean and its parentBean property. Then call
          //ControllerContext .... to check the transaction state
          //update the childFlowTransactionDirty property
          ((DCBindingContainer)regionContext.getRegionBinding()).refresh(refreshFlag);
          return true;
        @Override
        public boolean validateRegion(RegionContext regionContext) {
            regionContext.getRegionBinding().validate();
            return false;
        public boolean isRegionViewable(RegionContext regionContext) {
            return regionContext.getRegionBinding().isViewable();
        @Override
        public String getName() {
            return this.getClass().toString();
    }Next: When users press the back button in the parent view, you call the ParentView bean childFlowTransactionDirty to check the child task flow transaction to be dirty or not

  • HT201304 It would be tremendously helpful to be able to access, set restrictions, and make changes from the parents device to all devices under the same iTunes account, so that I could make changes to my kids devices without physical access.

    Please help!
    It would be tremendously helpful to be able to access, set restrictions, and make changes from the parents device, to all devices under the same iTunes account, so that I could make changes to my kids devices without physical access.
    I understand that I can set up a different Apple ID for the kids devices, or take physical control of the device and make the changes myself. However, my teenage son is technically savvy enough to have a job in Silicon Valley, as are most young people these days. However, in order to access his devices the current way, I first have to bypass the four digit pass code. This starts a fight of why I need in the device and continues to escalate. The argument that I am the parent will gain access but the fight is simply exhausting, and quite frankly shouldn't have to happen at all. He is not yet an adult, he did not pay for his iPad or iPhone and I, as a parent, should have not only have the right to change options at will, and from anywhere, but look at history or current activity when I feel like it.
    I currently have the settings where app and in-app purchases require my password to be put in, and he must come to me to type it in, but I need more control and would like, and should be able to access any of our six devices and make individual changes simply by logging in to my account, with my password.
    If I can see all my devices on the "Lost My iPhone" app, this technology should be easy to make happen.
    C'mon parents! I have a pretty good kid, given all things that they can get into, but I am not stupid. For everything I see has been done, there is much more I haven't seen. I want my children to be kept safe and be able to know what they are looking at or listening to. We parents are the only ones who know our beliefs and what our kids can handle and when.
    Thanks for any support or information that I may be missing in order to fulfill my request.

    There are mobile device management solutions that can do this, including in Apple's OS X Server system, but most parents generally find that setting this up is more work than it's worth. If you're interested, though, there are a couple that at least purport to be free (I don't know if there are any hidden "gotchas"):
    http://www.unwireddevicelink.com/features/
    https://meraki.cisco.com/products/systems-manager
    and Apple's system:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/server/features/#profile-manager
    I don't think any, however, allow you to see current activity or browser history. iOS doesn't expose those to access from MDM solutions, to the best of my knowledge.
    Regards.

  • Moving to Aperture 3 from IDimager - Importing XMP hierarchial keywords

    I am interesting in migrating from IDimager, a Windows application, to a native Mac application. I really like how Aperture 3 functions. But a really big issue is getting my keyword structure from IDimager into Aperture 3.
    I successfully exported the IDimager catalog and imported it into Aperture 3 keywords. The result is my existing hierarchy of keywords is preserved and maintained in Aperture 3. Awesome, so far...
    When I import my images into Aperture 3 however, all nesting is lost. Instead Aperture 3 duplicates all keywords at the top level. This is really disappointing.
    I do not have Lightroom nor Lightroom files to test, but I tried exporting a Lightroom compatible XMP format. No go either. It creates, what I presume to be non-standard, XMP information which does convey the structure of keywords. But I can only assume that Aperture 3 ignores that valuable information.
    Further, there does not seem to be a practical way to fix my keyword structure. The import of the images leaves me with hundreds of top level keywords that not clutter the keyword HUD. Removing those keywords also removes them from the images. So there seems to be no solution other then apply keywords from scratch. My library is not all that big, some 7,000 images, but I make very extensive use of keywords for many different purposes. So images typically have about 10 keywords plus most of their parent keywords. If there is no solution to automate the import, I am sorry to say, but I cannot see how I will be able to switch to Aperture 3.

    IDImager allows for Keywords to be written in hierarchical format. This means each individual keyword includes the parent keywords like this: "Others|Import|2009|2009-02-22". The only debate in my mind is about what will be more time consuming, writing and debugging a script to have exiftool extract the keywords and apply them hierarchical, or doing this task manually.
    From playing with the Aperture trial I deducted that making changes to keywords in the keyword HUD applies these changes to all images. Changing the "fred" keyword to "Freddy" will update all images that have the original "fred" keyword applied.
    We'll see. I am certainly not new to programming but have not used AppleScript before. Am still searching for a comprehensive guide and scripting examples that would help in pulling this off. But as I get closer to having the pre-processing outside of Aperture done for all of my images and very little accomplished in terms of the script I am leaning towards manually fixing my keywords.

  • Removing a child instance from a parent child list. - non L2 Caching

    I have a parent Entity
    Parent
    int id
    String name
    @onetomany
    List <Child> list
    and a child Entity
    Child
    int id
    String name
    First, let me say, I have L2 cache turned off.
    So lets say I have a parent record with three children and I want to remove child 2. I have found if you remove the child only in the EM then when you select the parent again, it shows the child still being there even though the child has been removed from the db. I liked only having to remove the child because its only one instance to pass and remove over the web. But with that said, how do I remove the entity our of the parents Children list so it no longer shows up in the front end in the list? I cant use the selected index in the front end because I sort the data.
    Or is it better to save the state of Parent too? But if so, what if Parents Children is hundreds of records. Thats alot of overhead for one record to be deleted. Could use some help here. Thanks in advance.

    You should always maintain bi-directional relationships. You need to remove the child from the parent.
    Since you are not caching, if you acquire a new EntityManager after commit, the parent's child will be gone.
    If you refresh the parent in the same EntityManager after commit, then it will be gone.
    If the collection is really big, then consider not mapping it, just query for it if you need it. There is no point having a relationship that is too big to read.
    Note that if you use weaving, and a List, then remove() will not trigger the collection to instantiate in EclipseLink (nor add, but contains or size will).

    Hi Florian,
    I'm guessing you've seen the CS3 options for controlling how keywords are handled. They're in Edit/Preferences/Keywords.
    About your comment, "in bridge cs and cs2 it was possible to click on the parent keyword to automatically include te child keywords"... I'm sorry, but this doesn't sound correct. Normally, it wouldn't be a good idea to automatically include all the child keywords once a parent keyword were selected..
    Hope this helps,
