Moving graphics from under a layer to above it

Hi -
I'm trying to figure out how to move some graphics around in my presentation. I have a photo of a book--I'd like to make another image swing out from behind the book and land on top of it. I played around with duplicating a slide and tried to adapt Magic Move to do it, but that didn't work. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Dolt,
What you want to do is a real challenge since it requires moving an object from one layer to another.
One possible way to do this would be to start the action with the image behind the book and swing out. At its maximum position away from the book, copy the image in that position and place it on a new layer above the books layer. Then, and this is the tricky part, have the upper image appear and the lower image disappear simultaneously, then swing the top image over on top of the book.
So it is clear, you have two copies of the image - one on the lower layer and one on the upper layer and you need the following:
action > move the lower image out from behind the book
build-in > the upper image appears on top of the lower image
build-out > the lower image disappears with the previous build
action > the upper image moves to on top of the book
I'm not sure this is exactly what you want, but it might work. Try it and let us know.
Good Luck.

  • Reflections Under a Moving Graphic

    Greetings,
Can someone help me? I need to make a reflection under a moving graphic in AE CS4. I see it all the time but it has me stumped. I have a graphic that will start at an angle on the right side , come to the center as it gets larger and then goes left and gets smaller. I need to add a mirror image under it so that it looks like it is sliding on a polished table or something along those lines. I have tried the mirror effect but I cant make that work...Any Tips?
    Thanks
    MRC

Have you tried a Google Search for "After Effects reflection tutorial?" I did and got 5 videos and 5 step by step tutorials on the first page. Just about any popular effect will have a bunch of free tutorials on the web.
The basic technique is to duplicate your layer, invert it, parent it to the layer that's going to be animated, give it a little blur and some kind of transparency effect, then try a few different blend modes to see which looks best. It takes more than one layer.
You could also use the Grow Bounds, Mirror, blur, linear wipe, transform and blend modes on your layer. As with any effect, there are many ways to make it work. You just have to look around and try a few things.

  • Moving graphic slide from Keynote to Pages

I have created a graphic slide in Keynote and moved it to a document in Pages, BUT it expands in Pages.
Can I lock the size in Keynote before I move the slide?
    or
can I scale it in Pages WITHOUT everything being distorted?
    Thanks
    Bo

    Hi Bogerv,
Hold down the Shift key then bring in the handles. This will keep its proportions with out distortions. Also, when I copy a graphic from Keynote '09 to Pages '09, then looking in Inspector they're both the same size. Sorry I cannot replicate your anomaly.

  • Moving Objects from Layer to Layer

Yes I knwo this is probably a very naive question but I'm
learning Flash 8 here and it says nothing in the documentation
about moving an object from one to layer to another. I'm sure in
Flash 5 you selected the object and then simply clicked the layer
which you wanted it on. This seems to have changed and Adobe/MM
have forgotten to say how you do it now.

When you say "move" an object from layer to layer - you
simply want to cut the object on the stage
in one layer and paste it in place on another? You will have
to manually cut and paste it. Flash 5
or any previous version never had an "auto-move" feature,
esprcially the way you describe: "...you
selected the object and then simply clicked the layer which
    you wanted it on..."
That type of functionality would be disasterous - if any
object on stage was selected and then you
clicked on a layer would force that object to move to that
layer, would cause major headaches and
render the program unusable - because 99% of the time, anyone
who was not wanting to move the object
would have a very hard time keeping them on the intended
layer while tying to use other features in
flash (like renaming layers, or moving the stacking order of
layers, or creating layer folders or
motion paths or mask layers, etc...
Are you really asking about "merging" 2 layers together?

  • Painting Graphics from an Array

I have a GUI that displays the Towers of Hanoi solution in a JPanel. Everything actually works except for a slight repainting issue.
Currently I am overriding the paint() function, I know that for my purpose using paintComponent() would probably be the better route, however that's not my issue...
The images (disks) in my JPanel are not redrawing properly, and I have no idea why...
    Basically:
    - I call setup() to set the number of disks and the co ordinates they should be drawn. (store them in an array)
    - I call moveDisk() to change the co ordinates of each disk as they are being moved.
    - then drawDisk() is called to go through the array of disks and print them.
currently paint() calls drawDisk() in order to display the current position of all the disks.
It seems to work fine for the first 2 moves, then disks start disappearing until there is one (the last disk) left...BUT if I print the co ordinates of the disks they seem to be correct, just not drawing.
could someone take a look at my code and see what is wrong?

  • How to view motion graphics from websites on iphone 4 ?

    07/27/2013
Hello, can anyone provide information as to viewing motion graphics from websites on iphone4 ?  -- when I view a website; I can see still pictures, words, numbers, colors ,etc... EXCEPT for the motion graphics.   The motion graphics does not show-up at all from the websites on the iphone4. The websites that I am having prolems viewing are the ones that are animated (cartoon-ish) in motion.
Example:  I can see an animated still picture of a man driving a car, but; I cannot see the animated motion graphics of the man actually turning the steering wheel, moving his head while looking in different directions while driving, the car wheels turning, etc... on the same website being viewed - the animated motion graphics will not show-up at all on the iphone4.
I would like to know if there is a mobile app from the apple archive, or any type of mobile software to install to be able to view the motion graphics and, if so; I would appreciate any feedback pertaining to this matter.
    Thank You.

I actually purchased GoodReader because it is easy to transfer files without iTunes.  I dislike the file sharing through iTunes.   You can use a Mac or PC.  Once I was in the app I clicked the "Wi-Fi" symbol which brings me to "WiFi-transfer."  It will show this --
    "WiFi status: ON
Use one of the following addresses exactly as you see them
    1. IP-address: http://192.168.0.98:8080 <-- Local LAN address the iPhone is broadcasting on.
    2. Bonjour-address http://Myname-iPhone.local:8080"
All you have to do is type one of those addresses into your browser. (Safari, etc.)
It will take you to a page that has iPhone Connection and a list of options.  You can either create a new directory within the application or use an existing one to upload a text file.  It's rather simple, you just select "Choose a file to upload" > Select your file > Press upload > Start the app and see your text/pdf/whatever file.
You can also connect to a server to download a text file, browse the web, or enter a url.  I see it also has an ICloud folder which I'm not sure if it integrates with Apple's iCloud or not, I think it does.  I'm not affliated with the app and I'm not saying you have to buy it, I'm just a happy user.
If you don't want to buy this app let me know I'll keep looking for a free or cheaper one for you if you want.

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 or ssrs 2012 place moving graphics in report while it is executing

In a new ssrs 2008 r2 or ssrs 2012 report application, I want to add some graphics to
the report(s). I know that you can embedded a graphic in the ssrs report. However I would like to be able to do one or more of the items I am listing below:
    1. In one or two spots, I would like to have the pictures change. The picture would display for 5 to 60 seconds and then a new graphic would show up.
    2.  I would like the possibility of one graphic being displayed while the entire ssrs report is executing. The next time the report is executing, a new graphic would be displayed.
    3. I would like a 'slideshow' of graphics being displayed. The slideshow would be dsiplayed in in the same sequence.
    4. I would like to obtain the graphics from an open show (free) location for a non profit public school system.
Thus can you tell me if any of the options I listed above are possibly? If so, can  you tell me what option I can embed in a report and how to accomplish the goal in the ssrs report?
Also if you have any other ideas about graphics in the report, can you tell me what thse option(s) are and how would I accomplish this goal?

    Hi wendy,
In Reporting Services, if we want to only display one graphic in some time, and display other graphics in other times in a report. So that the all graphics are alternatively displayed in the report. In this scenario, we can set the AutoRefresh property of
the report to x number of seconds for the changes to occur, then set the visibility property of graphics based on AutoRefresh length we have set. For more details, please see the steps below:
Set the AutoRefresh property of the report to 15 seconds (supposing there are 4 graphics in the report (60/4=15)).
Insert all graphics in the report.
Use the following expressions to control the visibility of graphics.
Graphic 1:=IIf(Second(Now()) < 15, False, True) the first graphic will show if the AutoRefresh occurred during the first 15 second block of the current minute, all other times during that minute it will be hidden.
Graphic 2:=IIf(Second(Now()) >= 15 AND Second(Now()) < 30, False, True) the second graphic will show if the AutoRefresh occurred during the second 15 second block of the current minute, all other times during that minute it will
    be hidden.
Graphic 3:=IIf(Second(Now()) >= 30 AND Second(Now()) < 45, False, True) the third graphic will will show if the AutoRefresh occurred during the third 15 second block of the current minute, all other times during that minute it will
    be hidden.
Graphic 4:=IIf(Second(Now()) >= 45, False, True) the fourth graphic will show if the AutoRefresh occurred during the fourth 15 second block of the current minute, all other times during that minute it will be hidden.
Besides, we cannot display the image with dynamic form by using External Image Option, it will be replaced with static form. So if we want to show slideshow in the report, we can also refer to the following thread:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/62b0317b-1458-4d91-9fdd-00c4bbe791f7/ssrs-report-slideshow-on-autorefrsh?forum=sqlreportingservices
    Hope this helps.

I would import into iPhoto, then drag the photos from iPhoto into other folders via the Finder or Adobe Bridge (which is my principal image organizer). The original date and time of the photo would always travel with the jpeg into iPhoto and then into other folders. However, sometime during a recent session transferring photos in this way, the dates of the photos started to change at the point when I copied them out of iPhoto. Within iPhoto itself, the various original dates of the photos are retained. But in Finder and Bridge, copies of those same photos all carry the same (worthless) date: the date and time that they were imported from my iPhone. I can’t figure out what would have changed on my Mac to make it start re-dating my photos. I was happily dragging and dropping photos, and suddently I started to lose the original dates. Did I inadvertently change some settings? (I am running OS 10.6.8 and using iPhoto 8.)

(I use iPhoto only to import from my iPhone; I organize all my images, including thousands of RAW files, in folders on a big external drive.)
Why are you using iPhoto at all? use image capture or drag and drop the photos
The problem is that the files I am copying are getting stripped of the EXIF metadata
eliminating iPhoto from your work flow will eliminate one oppertunity to have this happen  For photos in iPhoto it is best to export them rather than drag an drop them - this assures your EXIF and IPTC data is correct and uptodate
Why would I be able, over many years, to retain EXIF metadata in photos imported from an iPhone--then one day find that the same workflow strips such photos of EXIF data?
Because exporting is the supported way to "export" photos - I never drag and drop photos out of iPhoto and I never use thrid party programs on the photos in the iPhoto library - try exporting as suggested above and see if that is the solution

  • Issue in moving files from data fodler to processed folder in background

    Hi All,
I am facing one issue in moving files from data fodler to processed folder in case of background execution.
When i am executing the file in the foreground, i can move the file from Data folder to processed folder. I am using SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE FM to move the file from data folder to processed folder.  I can see the file in processed folder once the program is executed.
But in case of executing the same program in background, it is giving me the error "Failed to move the file to processed folder" in the spool of SM37 and i can see the file still laying in data folder.
I tried to check other programs which acesses the same folder as the above program, whether they are able to move. They are able to move the file to processed fodler successfully both in foreground and background mode.
Please help me in resolving this issue.
    Thanks,
    Deepa

    Hi Sanu,
Please use teh following code to move the file from source to target folder.
This is a code showing how to create and use COPY command of UNIX in ABAP
    PARAMETERS:
    Input file path
    p_input TYPE localfile,
    Processed file path
    p_proc TYPE localfile.
Declare the Types to file data
    TYPES: BEGIN OF L_X_OUTPUT,
sys(200), " Please note, there are asterisk before and after sys (i.e.sys)
    END OF L_X_OUTPUT.
    * Internal table to store file data
DATA l_i_output TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF l_x_output WITH HEADER LINE.
    * Variable for the UNIX command
    DATA: l_v_unix_comm(255) TYPE c.
    Copy command of UNIX
    CONCATENATE 'mv' p_input p_proc
    INTO l_v_unix_comm SEPARATED BY space.
For example the Copy command is stored as below
    cp u2018/data/interfaces/input/input_fileu2019 u2018/data/interfaces/processed/processed_fileu2019
Examples of UNIX Command *u2022 mv filename1 filename2 --- moves a file (i.e. gives it a different name, or moves it into a *different directory (see below) *u2022 cp filename1 filename2 --- copies a file
    Execute the UNIX Copy command.
This command will copy the file from input file path to the processed file path
CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD l_v_unix_comm
    ID 'TAB'
    FIELD l_i_output-sys.
    IF sy-subrc eq 0.

  • Using iPad 2 photos and have not found key to organizing or moving photos  from one album to another existing album

With ipad2 I have been almost successful in moving photos from the stream or roll to separate albums. It takes the commands but does not allow last step. What am I missing?

If you are wanting to copy photos from your computer to the iPad then you need to select all the folders that you want to copy together in one go - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are removed by not including them in the next photo sync, so on each photo sync you need to select all the photos that you want to remain on the iPad. So you will only do one photo sync to copy them.
So when you connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes, on the right-hand side on the Photos tab you need to select the parent folder under each those 100 folders are directly under - each of those 100 folders will then get their own album on the iPad. The folder to album relationship only works to 1 level i.e. if those folders have sub-folders in them then their photos will go into the parent's album on the iPad

  • Moving Photos from One Event to Another

I don't entirely understand how to do this. When I want to move photos from one event to another, I usually just drag the photos from one event to another. This works fine when the two events are next to each other (within the same window). However, it he event is not in the same window (requiring a scroll up or down) then the drag and drop can't happen (i.e., having to drag photos from my last event to the first event). Any suggestions here?

If you're merging two Events you ca do this in Event View - just drag one Event to the Other and they will be merged.
If you're moving pics from an Event to another (but not a Full Merge):
Photos View, the go View -> Event Titles and option Click on the wee triangle to close all the Events.
Then open the Event you want to get the Files From. Select the Files.
Drag them to the bottom of the iPhoto Window - above the toolbar - and the Window will scroll. (There's a bit of a knack to doing this: there's a sweet spot just above the tool bar. Get the Cursor there and the window will scroll. With practise you can even control the rate and speed of scrolling)
Drop them on the target Event.

  • What is the use of Multiple source in Logical Table under BMM Layer?

what is the use of Multiple source in Logical Table under BMM Layer?
    thanks in advance

    Or more generally speaking:
To create a "logical table" consisting of multiple "physical tables"...hence the names. It's the backbone of the whole BI server concept and the way the rpd handles the requests.
I.e.: how would you otherwise proceed for making an analyzable table from SAP, Teradata, Oracle and a flat file with no full change-access to all the data sources?

  • Moving Data from Normal table to History tables

    Hi All,
I'm in the process of moving data from normal tables to
    History tables.
It can be some sort of a procedure which should be a cron job running at night.
My aim is to move data say 1.5 yrs or 2yrs old data to History tables.
What aspects i need to check when moving data. And how can i write a procedure for this requirement.
The schema is same in both the normal table and history table.
It has to be a procedure based on particular field RCRE_DT.
If the rcre_dt is above 2 yrs the data needs to be moved to HIS_<table>.
I have to insert record in to HIS_table and simultaneously delete record from the normal table.
This is in Production system and the tables are quite big.
Pls do find enclosed the attached sample schema for Normal table and HIS_<table>.
If i want to automate this script as a Cron job for similarly other History tables
how am i to do it in a single procedure assuming the procedure for moving the data is the same procedure.
Thanks for ur help in advance.

    Hi All,
Thanks for ur valuable suggestion. But can u explain me bit more on this as i'm still confused about switching between partitoned tables and temporary table.Suppose if i have a table called PXM_FLT and an correspoding similar table named HIS_PXM_FLT.How can i do the partitioning shd i do the partitioning on the normal table or HIS_PXM_FLT.i do have a date field for me to partition based on range. Can u pls explain why shd i again create a temp.table.What's the purpose. Now the application is designed in such a way that old records have to be moved to HIS_PXM_FLT.can u pls highlight more on this.Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. As i'm relatively new to this partitioning technique i'm bit confused on how it works. But i came to understand Partitioning is a better operation than the normal insert or delte as it is more data intensive as millions of record need to be moved. Thanks for feedback and ur precious time.

  • How to refresh or close graphics from forms

I call two graphics from forms, through pl/sql. There are

graphics becomes a 'zombie'. Why is it possible ? How to avoid
    it ?

    Hi,
I am a newbie in taskflow development world.
Having gone through the above answer, I am not sure on how it fits in my problem domain. I created a taskflow with few iinput parameter to it. Actually it's a polling application that displays a poll on the basis of poll id provided by user through taskflow input parameter. A new requirement came up to show a list of polls and user may click on a poll from the list and that poll should get displayed.
I have done the showing list of poll part, but when user clicks on a particular poll, even though I am setting the poll ID of the selected poll to the appropriate parameter, it's not being taken. While doing some R&D on this, I found there are two attributes called Refresh and RefreshCondition for taskflow refreshing. Initially the value of Refresh was set to 'always' which I modified to 'ifNeeded' and 'deferred', one at a time and it did not work. I have also tried binding a boolean variable to 'RefreshCondition' attribute, but while debugging, I have found, that the boolean variable is read only once while the taskflow is getting initiated, no matter what the value of 'Refresh' is.
I did not get much time to explore the meaning and applicability of 'Refresh' and 'RefreshCondition' attributes, but have a feeling that these are the ones that I have to tweak a little to get my work done. Can someone please help me on this?
    Thank you,
