Moving mail users to IMAP from POP. Issues with sent messages disappearing
Our mail server has been working well for several years, running currently on Mac OX 10.4.10 (Xserve G5). All user accounts have always been setup for pop and imap in WGM but we have just recently started to move client settings to IMAP. No changes to the mail settings in server admin except opening the firewall to include port 993 for imap ssl.
The issue is that all users appear to loose the sent mail records when using the apple mail apps. After a message has been sent, the message record stays in the Apple generated sent box for that account and then disappears (presumably after syncing with the server).
The mail app "account" settings shows that sent messages are to be stored on the server and never to be deleted (in mailbox behavior).
If you do a "get info" on the mailbox,sent messages don't show on the server either under "Sent". I also created an additional mailbox "Sent Messages" to be used as sent mailbox location. mailbox shows up on the server, but no mail is added when sent from the apple mail app.
Now, I would have assumed this to be an issue of the client app, but the behavior is consistent across several machines and also on new mail app configurations.
When using Entourage with the same account however, the server works as anticipated and all sent messages are stored on the server (in the "Sent Messages" box). Any Entourage sent messages also show up in the "Sent Messages"mail box of the apple mail apps.
When using iphones, the behavior is somewhat unclear. The iphone mail settings (under advanced) show the "server" selected ("Sent Messages") for sent mail, yet the actual iphone mail app lists that folder as just "Sent". When sending messages, that mailbox shows the Entourage sent messages and iphone sent messages, but the iphone messages never appear on the server.
This only happens on sent messages; inbox, drafts, deleted and junk mail boxes work perfect. This also happen on any imap client account I setup, not just a specific one.
Any suggestions? Any setting I am overlooking? Using Entourage for all users is not an option...

When I had that issue, I tried using Apple Mail app and noticed that Sent Mails are getting lost. Try sending an email using WebMail. You might see similar "Permission Denied" error. Try restarting the server and see if the issue still exists.

From your description, all the sent items are correct in OWA. So the Exchange Server is ok.
About this issue, I recommend you install all the latest Windows updates and check the result.

Email issue with sent messages in Tiger
I set up iCloud email on our old laptop running Tiger. In Mail it sends and receives but does not save sent messages to the Sent folder and the messages aren't recorded in iCloud. In Entourage, I can receive but not send email. Any thoughts or ideas?

MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT - DO NOT TRY TO ALTER YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
• Server name: imap.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 993
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
• Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 587
• SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria: 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message. Go to http://appleid.apple.com then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

Issue with Sent mails from BB not showing in outlook
Dear All,
I configured my BB 8800 to work on my office email. We do not have a BES.
Concerns that i noticed are that the mails sent from my BB do not show up in the sent items of outlook.
The service is thru Airtel in India and the Tech support team of airtel mentioned that sent items would not show in outlook.
I really cant believe that such a thing can happen and Blackberry would release an incomplete mailing solution for non BES users.
Pls let me know if i can configure so that i can see my sent items in outlook :-)

DCThis is true that sent items wont show in Outlook, unless you are using OWA to integrate your work account. If its POP, they wont show in sent items.
Workaround:
-Log into BIS account and click on Edit beside your email address and in 'Auto BCC:' field enter your email address and save.
-Click on filters for your email address and add new filter, Filetr naem: Sent items; Apply filter when: "From" field and Contains: enter your email address and choose 'Do not forward messages to device' option and click on 'Add Filter'
On Outlook set up a filter for messages that come from your email address to move to 'Sent items'
Summary: Auto bcc to bcc your address to get your sent mail, filter not to receive copies of those sent messages on BB and filter in Outlook to put those messages in 'Sent Folder' Enjoy

X-Fi Titanium PCI-Express: Are there Cracking & Popping issues with Battlefield 2 & 214
Ok, now Creative came out with X-Fi Titanium PCI-Express, which supposedly should fix the cracking and popping issues with Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 232 since Creative technical support said the probelm with X-Fi and Battlefield series lied in PCI bus. Now the new audio card is using PCI-E bus. So does anyone with X-Fi Titanium still hearing the cracking and popping sounds when artillery fires?
RB30, Do you also have the problem with your onboard audio?
I can only give you my experience and that is that the new titanium works in my set up and I do not have any popping issues in BF242. There are lots of hassles installing the drivers as detailed in other posts. Plus they treat the drivers like they are the crown jewels and do not have them for download on the web site.
The sound seems to be better than my onboard audio. Objects closer seem close and objects far away seem far away. I had an XtremeMusic card but I took it out since a problem always seemed to develop.
I did not see any noticable increase in performance but that may be due to the fact that the performance in my system seems to be video card limited and not cpu limited.
The EAX simulated 3D sound is excellent in BF242.
Here are my system specs. I could not tell if you have Vista 64 or 32. My system is 64 and it works.

I plug my ipod into my computer itunes pops up with error message "Ipod detected but can't be identified properly" suggests I unplug and try again or uninstall itunes and reinstall nothing works. What should i do?

Does anyone have problems with sent messages not showing in their Mail? I have two sent folders when really I only want one. Any tips?
Not sure if this is a fix, but I tried sending myself a test email from only the Bcc field, and lo and behold it now shows the Bcc field in all sent item previews;
...maybe leaving the 'To' field blank on purpose forced Mail to show it.
Rebooted the Mail program, still there - rebooted the machine, still there. Hope this is still relevant and it works for you too - J. -

If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If Messages is activated but not sending texts, try Settings>Messages>Show subject field>Off. -

That option does not exist depending on who the carrier is.
Who is the carrier? Are they a supported carrier?
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings? -

Is there no Office licencing? Even if you want to avoid Exchange, MDaemon with the Outlook Connector and ActiveSync is a far more pleasant experience than IMAP and Thunderbird.
Is all email currently stored in the POP mailbox, or is it pulled to PST files?
I would investigate using something like MigrationWiz to copy the data between the two servers, so all you have to worry about it updating the server details in the clients. It is AD integrated and everything works for XYZ independently of .COM just nicely. I have tested everything through and all is good...

Mail server stops IMAP and POP services, SMTP won't work
Hello fellow Lion Server users,
I am trying hard to get my mail server productive. I want to fetch mails from my ISP's IMAP mail server and distribute it to all my devices via my own mail server. Also the mails shall be sent via ISPs SMTP.
After managing it being able to send and receive email in the way I want I realized that web server was down. Because I want to use the integrated web mail and Wiki server I had to fix that. After restoring to default values in httpd.conf and others I got that problem solved just to realize that I am not able any more to send and receive email. I would be grateful if you could help me out.
The current status is that Server admin app claims the mail server still running, but POP, IMAP stopped whilst SMTP is running. In my mail.app I can send Emails successfully but they never reach the addressee. Receiving is just not possible at all. The connection doctor in integrated in Mail.app won't find a problem. It claims SMTP and IMAP connections I used before are working.
I use a dyndns forwarding to my server at home. Lion server is up to date. Port forwarding in the router is enabled (for each port Apple suggests).
Even in local network (with this very machine) it is not possible to successfully send or receive emails using localhost. My guess is that something went wrong in the configuration files but I don't know where I have to look and for what exactly.
I also tried a program called MailServe after running into the first problems with the mail server which did so far a good job in configuring of Postfix, Dovecot and Fetchmail but now I am stuck.
Do you have any hints for me, your help would be highly appreciated. Thank you.I think I may have just figured out a part of this puzzle. I have more than just my att account set up in Mail. Even though all of my accounts are setup to use the ATT SMTP server only (with the appropriate ATT login info) I am getting the same rejection notices as everyone else.
I noticed that in the rejection notice though, that it was saying I was sending mail from my other main account, not my sbcglobal (ATT) account. I thought that was strange since I set up all my accounts to use the SBC (ATT) login info for ATT's SMTP Server. So obviously it is a problem in Mail. Mail is somehow confused and sending some wrong piece of info to the SMTP server. When I changed the sender from my other account to my SBCGLOBAL account, the mail went right out with no other problems.
So this isn't a solution for those of you who are struggling with only an ATT account, but I think it points to a possible problem within Mail. The answer might be to delete the accounts in Mail and set them back up again. It's looking like Apple might need to make a tweak to Mail to fix this if indeed this is the correct cause. Hope this helps someone. -
My mail accounts have been set up as pop accounts forever, and in downloading the mail I have set up files organizing over a decade-worth of email. These folders are in Apple Mail. In converting to imap, will this folder structure be overwritten by the folder structure on the server hosting my email account? If so, is there any way to save these emails and their organization so that I can retrieve past correspondence as needed?
Look in the side bar of mail. If the folders are listed under "On my Mac" you'r good to go. If they are listed elsewhere, create new folder "on my Mac" and drag all the other folders to the new folder. After the mail has moved, you can safely delete the POP account and re-create it as an IMAP account.

Hey everyone.....i am having an issue with an email account......i have a website that uses *@lmiinc.com......i and my partner both use this email account using IMAP.....he uses outlook and i use mac mail of course ......problem is that if an email goes through and he deletes it before i read it its like it never existed to me.......and of course visa versa.......how can i avoid this? thanks!
