Moving Pages Between Applications

When I first began using AE, I created many different
applications as request came in. Now, this is getting
cumbersome as each application requires the user to
login and logout. I want, instead, to create a single
application and to move the pages from all the
various applications into this single application.
This will allow the user to authenticate once and
then use all the application areas.This is not really the case. If you want users to be able to use multiple applications with a single login you simply need to set a common cookie on each of the applications that will share the same login credentials.
In AppEx, go to Shared Components>Authentication Schemes and click on the active authentication scheme. Near the bottom of the 'Edit Authentication Scheme' page there is a section for Cookie Attributes. Simply enter any name you like for the cookie and save it. Do the same for your other applications wherever you want to share logins.
The problem is that while one may import a page or
application (according to the drop down window),
there does not appear to be any way to export only a
page. You can export a single page - but the utility of doing so is limited since you can't import a single page export into an application different from which it came. Odd, I know. But that seems to be the way it is - for now.
Is there anyway that I can move the pages from all
these individual applications into a new application
without having to recode all of them? Is there no way
to export pages from one application then import them
into another?
-JoeFor what it's worth (i.e. my 2 cents) I don't really like the idea of create a single monolithic application with lots of unrelated pages in the same application. I can get too confusing too easily - unless you use a lot of discipline in grouping and naming your pages.
I like to create smaller special purpose apps that are more manageable and jump across applications wherever I need to. This is in fact how AppEx itself works. If you watch the application IDs on the address bar as you switch between the application builder, sql workshop and the administration pages you can see that they are indeed different applications - but all integrated quite nicely.

Hello all
please can someone tell me if it is possible to copy pages between applications in APEX 3.0 onwards?
We are currently on APEX 2.0, where I don't think it is possible to copy pages from one application to another.

That will work only if the applications share the same workspace, However in this case, using the copy option, as Andy described, seems simpler.
If you want to import the page into a different machine, the target application must reside on a workspace with the same ID as the source workspace (most likely, the target workspace was created by importing the source workspace.

Moving pages between spaces

Hi Everyone,
i am in difficult situation, please provide any input. it would be great help to me.
I have few pages in each spaces, i was wondering if there is a way i could move these pages between other parent spaces.
All i know now is : i can export each or all spaces which would give me .ear file and when i look into it, i see pages under .....\oracle\webcenter\page\scopedMD\sd0b3d144_bb8d_401f_8126_2fa630ab0c90\ like page2.jspx, page3.jspx, etc but i don't see content in it.....
Note: we haven't used any content presenter.
All pages and spaces are created out of the box by going through Administration in the webcenter.

You can not rearrange pages or move them from one chapter to another. However, you can move (or copy/paste) sections.
Go to... iBook Menu... Help... iBooks Author Help... Set up your book... Add, reorder, or delete chapters, sections, and pages.
From the iBook help menu:
In the Book pane (shown above), do either or both of the following:
To change the order of chapters: Drag them.
To change the order of sections: Drag a section to a new location. You can also drag a section from one chapter to another.

Moving pages between chapters

I just started using iBooks Author and when I imported a Pages file each page in iBooks Author is on a different Chapter.
Is there a way to fix this so each page is NOT on a separate Chapter.
Also is there a way to move pages between Chapters.

You can not rearrange pages or move them from one chapter to another. However, you can move (or copy/paste) sections.
Go to... iBook Menu... Help... iBooks Author Help... Set up your book... Add, reorder, or delete chapters, sections, and pages.
From the iBook help menu:

To change the order of sections: Drag a section to a new location. You can also drag a section from one chapter to another.

Copy pages between applications - error

Hello !
When I try to copy a certain page (using export / import) between two applications, I receive "File is not a valid HTML DB export file". I exported a page from an upgraded application and I tried to import it in a new application created from scratch using the new 1.6 environment (both the upgraded and the new application are in the same database and same workspace). What should I do ?

isn't, it's not the same workspace, so what I

1. By workspace id you mean the system generated id 62181533721 or some such? I have no control over that!
If so, in your first paragraph above, if database D is the same as database D-prime, that would be like exporting a page and importing it right back (thus blowing the existing page away). The only situation I see this useful for is backup a page, work on it for a few days, realize a major goof up and "restore" from your backup.

I am asking about a systematic "deployment" of HTMLDB pages from a dev environment to a QA/UAT env to a Production environment.
Given this and since the internal workspace id in each of these environments will be different, are you saying that there is no way to do what I am asking?
Then, how the heck do people use HTMLDB in a traditional IT environment with Dev, QA/UAT, Production!

Exporting a Page Between Applications

I've got an existing application that I'm basically updating - changing the layout, consolidating some reports, removing others, adding new ones etc. What I would like to do is export the existing reports/pages that I want to keep from the old application to the new one. I've given it a try and it's not working out.
I've exported page 4 from the old application (# 128). When attempting to import it to the new application (#135), I got an error. Googling of the error message lead me to here, which was very helpful. After modifying the wwv_flow_api.set_security_group_id line and the application number line, I was able to progress to installing the page. Then I get another error: ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-00001: unique constraint (APEX_030200.WWV_FLOW_PAGE_PLUGS_PK) violated <pre>declare s varchar2(32767) := null; l_clob clob; l_length number := 1; begin s := null; wwv_flow_api.create_page_plug ( p_id=&gt; 1145131778487184 + wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset, p_flow_id=&gt; wwv_flow.g_flow_id, p_page_id=&gt; 4, p_plug_name=&gt; 'Criteria', p_region_name=&gt;'', p_plug_template=&gtAnyone have any helpful hints/ideas to get me through this? If I understand your situation correctly, your original application and your new one are in the same APEX workspace, on the same APEX instance. If this is the case …
You can’t use import/export on the same APEX instance as some of the metadata PK are maintained on the workspace level, hence the unique constraint violation error message you are getting.
Fortunately for you, you don’t need to. Just go to your new application, choose any page and press the ‘Copy’ button. In the first wizard screen choose the option of “page in another application” and continue from there. It will allow you to copy any old pages from the original application into the new application, and even allow you to set a new page id for them in the new application.

Moved location of Pages in "Applications", now can't save "Permission Denied"

To make things easier to me I moved my iWork applications out of the iWork '09 folder and into just applications. That way I didn't have to click on applications, then the iwork folder, then the program I wanted, they are now in order with my other applications.
I now am unable to save any new documents or changes to others. I have tried this in Pages and Numbers and keep getting the "Permission Denied" error message.
I have restarted my computer several times to no avail.
Any ideas?

You didn't need to move anything. This is what shortcuts are for. There once was a Pages shortcut on your Dock, a one-click action to start the app. You could restore that. You could place a shortcut on your Desktop. Or, you could use Spotlight to start the app.
Spotlight is my favorite because I don't have to touch the mouse. Type Command-Spacebar and then type p a g e... etc. until "Pages" shows up in Top Hit in the Spotlight list, then hit Return to start the app.

Moving files between folders is very slow

Hi, I have an iMac 2011. Processor: 2.7GHz Intel Core i5/ Memory 4GB
OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.1
After I change my OS from Mavericks to Yosemite, moving files between folders is very slow.
For example, if I move one jpg file in Desktop to Pictures folder (or just any other folders like Trash), it takes about 3 seconds.
When I was still using Mavericks, it made that Ding sound and transferred files right away. However, now, although it makes the Ding sound right away, the file is still there for 3 seconds.
I tried to clean up my mac using many apps, but they never fixed this problem.
I've also tried what I saw on this one thread. OS X File Transfers Very Slow
Go->Connect to Server then type "cifs://server-address" but it says there is a problem and did nothing. (maybe different issue)
Please help!

There may be other issues, but you installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.

How to move pages between documents WITHOUT elements shifting

Hi everyone! My team members and I are so frustrated over what I think should be a really simple issue: copying/moving/dragging pages between documents and NOTHING CHANGING.
Whenever we move pages between documents (which we have to do on a monthly basis - moving content into client branded files), at least ONE thing will shift and it usually has to do with overset text and/or text wrap. We have googled our brains out. We've tried everything on this list How-To: 10 Techniques for Copying Pages Between InDesign Documents | CreativePro.com and in the various Lynda tutorials we've looked at. We have combined our powers and still can not solve this problem so now I come to you, hoping that you can please please please help us figure out this issue before one of us throws a computer out the window.
We have this one document. And this is what one of the problem pages looks like. Everything is on one layer. (look at the section marked 5)
Then I move the pages (copy/paste the content; drag and drop the pages; etc.) into the destination document so we can apply branding.
AND THIS HAPPENS.
WHY does this text suddenly become overset?
The preferences of both documents are IDENTICAL. In fact, Document B was originally created from Document A.
AND FUN FYI: I took Document A and Saved As a new name. Opened it the new name. And tried moving the pages into the newly named document -- and the SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED.
I am going to bash my head into a wall. Can someone please shed some light on this? Have you seen this before? How do we fix it??

That's not something that I have ever heard, but since I haven't heard everything, I suppose it's possible. What you may be thinking of is that some people use idml to migrate a file to a lower version, and if that lower version lacks a feature of the version that created the file, you will either lose or modify the way that that feature worked in the original. I don't think that even in that scenario that a feature that was present in both versions would go away just because it took a trip through idml to get to an earlier version. And if idml botched shadow or effects, nobody would use it, and I don't think Adobe would have it.

The thing that Save-As does is remove little bits of data associated with undos that a normal Save retains. Sometimes this data can lead to problems, so any time you do it, it will help, but if you do it at stage 37 and you hand off at stage 38, you will have cleared out most all of anything that may have built up over time. I don't want to give the impression that it is required, but it certainly doesn't hurt, and is probably a good idea to Save-As periodically.

Copy between applications

I am currently using the 30 day free trial of iWork. I use Excel in a specific way that is crucial to my business. I don't do much of anything fancy, but need the following functionality:
I use spreadsheets in Excel which I then I copy (using either the Copy command or the Camera tool), switch applications to VectorWorks, and paste into my main project document. Excel copies all of the elements of my selection, and the resulting paste into VectorWorks consists of lines and text complete with formatting (font, size, bold, italic, etc). When I attempt the same action in Numbers, the resulting paste into VectorWorks is a Bitmap image. Is there any way to copy and paste between Numbers and VectorWorks in the same manner as I currently work with Excel and VectorWorks? I would love to be able to get away from Microsoft, but if I can't copy between applications, Numbers is of no use to me.

I met this kind of problem.
My workaround is to paste in TextEdit then copy and Paste into the final destination.
It's a bit cumbersome but it works.
Perhaps Apple guys will edit the way they treat the clipboard.
They don't normalize it when pasting from Numbers to Pages or Keynote, so we get formulas or some other odd results.
Your problem with VectorWorks let me think that the way they "normalize" the clipboard when leaving iWork apps is not perfectly correct.
It seems that a range of cells must be passed as a TAB delimited block of values which may be pasted in a tool like VectorWorks.

Moving Pages using Tags

I have always found moving pages around in Acrobat documents to be a pain. I thought I might be able to use tags or some other form of document structure to move pages around.
In the help section related to tagging, the help states:
Add tagged bookmarks
Tagged bookmarks give you greater control over page
content than do regular bookmarks. Because tagged
bookmarks use the underlying structural information of the
document elements (for example, heading levels,
paragraphs, table titles), you can use them to edit the
document, **such as rearranging their corresponding pages in
the PDF**, or deleting pages. If you move or delete a parent
tagged bookmark, its children tagged bookmarks are
moved or deleted along with it.
However, under the page movement help section, it states
Move or copy a page
You can use page thumbnails to copy or move pages within
a document and between documents.
When you drag a page thumbnail in a Pages panel, a bar
appears near other thumbnails, indicating the position in
which it will appear in the PDF. This bar appears at the
bottom or top when the thumbnails are in a single column,
or to the left or right if more than one column of
thumbnails is displayed.
Note: Tagged bookmarks affect the order that reading
devices follow, such as devices for the visually impaired.
Tagged bookmarks do not change the sequence of pages in
a PDF.
Is there really a way that you can move actual pages around in a document in a structure way, rather than just crudely selected a range of pages in the pages view?

Insert PDF page between PDF pages

I've asked this over on the acrobat forum but no response so I'm trying my luck here.
I've got a 500 page pdf that's 4 up.
And I"ve got a 1 page pdf 4 up that's the reverse for the 500 pages.
I'd like to insert the 1 page pdf in between each of the pages in the 500 page pdf, effectively giving me a 1000 page pdf.
I've tried Multipage importer along with another script to insert a master page between pages but honestly - it takes far too long to process a 500 page multipage import then insert a b master with the page and export back to PDF, taking well over 45 minutes.
Especially when I tried job no.2 with a 1500 page pdf where a pdf needs to be inserted between each of those pages.
Plus it ties up the entire computer.
Does anyone know of a way to insert 1 page pdf in between a multipage pdf?

to install it, close acrobat, and then copy the script into this location (assuming you work on a mac using Acrobat XI)

restart acrobat and when a file is open, there should be two new options available under "undo" in the edit menu: collate and reverse. collate works by getting file A and interleaving it with file B, so both files need to be the same page length. In Eugene's case, this would have meant creating a common back file that was as many pages as the front, but that isn't too hard to do via the finder and the "combine files into a single PDF" function in Acrobat.
That said, my earlier "bonkers" approach using the split feature worked too, but the collate script is far, far easier.

I tried the code in the http package in the Appendix A section of your book. Each time i try a POST I get a HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request error from the server. I can successfully do a GET from URLs. I have pretty much copied your code verbatim. Any ideas?

[JS] [Win7] [CS5] Moving pages to another document

Hi guys,
I need to write a script for my company which merges 3 documents together by selecting the needed pages in two of three documents and moving them to the third document. Everything works fine and I am almost finished but I can't find a way to move pages between documents.
I also thought about just copying everything on the needed pages but this doesn't work because every document has different master pages which are needed.
Is somebody able to help me with the needed code to select some Pages and move them to the end of another document?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With no pages moved and no pageItems covered - where is the point which you called "almost finish"?
Example:
(with 2 documents opened - last opened index = 0)
var tarPage = app.documents[0].pages[0];
app.documents[1].pages[0].duplicate(LocationOptions.AFTER, tarPage);
It duplicates 1st page of 1st doc after 1st page od 2nd doc. Move() method work similar.
In case of masterPages you can move them as well but this is an open gate to another story, I am afraid.

Shared components between applications

There are ways to create shared components between applications?
Example:
menu list shared between multiple applications.
Version Apex: 4.0.1

I would seriously question why you want to export pages from dev to qa or qa to prod. Why you are NOT looking at using a version control system and exporting from that to the different environments would be a good question to tackle...
Anyone who use the approach of copying pages between environments is just asking for trouble, since there WOULD and Could be the chance of NOT migrating all changes between environments that have occurred between versions..
I for one would be VERY leery of such process, and have dealt with a shop like this.. Glad I am NOT There anymore..
