Moving Photo's to PC from iPad2?
How do you open photos from iPad2 when synced through iTunes onto my PC. I would like to e-mail phots to freinds and I can't even open them with my PC!
Copying photos off the iPad is not done through iTunes, the iPad should be recognised as a digital camera if there are photos on it that were taken with it, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc. : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

Moving photos back into iphoto from DVD back-up
I have lost several hundred photos (through my own error). I have them backed up on DVD in the iphoto format. Iphoto recognizes the disk when I put it in.
I'm wondering the best way to transfer these photos back onto my computer and into my iphoto library. Drag and drop?
The thumbnails of the lost photos remain in my iphoto on my computer so I was thinking of rebuilding the thumbnail cache (which iphoto sometimes prompts me to do when I open it) before I import. (how would I do this?)
Thanks!Just drag the disk image onto the Library icon in the left hand pane and your photos will be imported into the library in the Events and albums that they were in when you backed them up.
But first I would delete those "damaged" photos from the library and then import from the disk. Use iPhoto's delete method so that you delete not only the thumbnail files but any related modified files. That will get rid of a lot of flotsam in the library.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard. -
With ipad2 I have been almost successful in moving photos from the stream or roll to separate albums. It takes the commands but does not allow last step. What am I missing?
If you are wanting to copy photos from your computer to the iPad then you need to select all the folders that you want to copy together in one go - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are removed by not including them in the next photo sync, so on each photo sync you need to select all the photos that you want to remain on the iPad. So you will only do one photo sync to copy them.
So when you connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes, on the right-hand side on the Photos tab you need to select the parent folder under each those 100 folders are directly under - each of those 100 folders will then get their own album on the iPad. The folder to album relationship only works to 1 level i.e. if those folders have sub-folders in them then their photos will go into the parent's album on the iPad

Moving photos from one iPhoto library to another
Is there a way to move photos from one iPhoto library to another? I tried to use export, and that puts the photos in the other iPhoto library (I can see the photo if I open Hard drive>user>pictures>iPhoto Library but when I open iPhoto it is not in that Library's library.
If I have not made myself clear, please ask and I'll try again.

Is there really no other way than via third party software??
Yes there is, detailed above: export from one, import to another.
I love using iPhoto but this is a real drawback.
Wow, really?
I have bought an external disk so i can free the space on my laptop by moving photos and now I have to buy some software in order to do that??
You don't have to buy it. What's more the free version of iPhoto Library Manager will move up to 20 pics at a time. And the paid version is only $20.
BTW: you can run an entire library from the external disk:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

To sync photos from a Mac or Windows PC to your device using photo applications
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed.
In iTunes, select your device's icon in the Devices list on the left.
Click the Photos tab.
Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Note: Some versions of Photoshop Album and Photoshop Elements don't support collections. You can still use them to sync all your photos.
If you want to sync all your photos, enable the option for "All photos, albums, events, and faces." If you want to sync photos from only some albums, events, or faces, enable the option for "Selected albums, events, and faces" and then select the albums you want. If syncing on a Mac with iPhoto version 6.0.6 or later, you may enable the option to "Include videos" to sync videos directly from iPhoto to your device. (Requires iOS 3.0 or later).
Click Apply.
To sync photos from a folder on your hard disk to your device
Drag the images you want into a folder on your computer. If you want images to appear in separate photo albums on your device, create folders inside the main folder and drag images into the new folders.
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left.
Choose "Sync photos from."
Select Choose Folder from the pop-up menu and choose your main image folder.
Click Apply. -
When I back up my I phone 5s or my ipad2 camera roll, contacts and documents does this save in the cloud all to view even if a photo has been removed from camera roll?

Moving photos from photo stream to an album
How can I move pictures from a photostream to a album? do i need to move them to the camera roll first?
Moving photos first to the camera roll is the only solution to moving photos to an album...a bit time consuming if you have many photos.

My photos wont download onto my ipad2 from my computer?
My photos wont download onto my ipad2 from my computer?
"Thats Apple for you, simple things that should be free cost money. Your going to have to buy Iphoto and install it on you mac to have pictures sync."
Absolutely wrong. iPhoto won't help in SYNCHRONIZING the images from iTunes to the iPad as it can only access photos already synched (or imported via CCK / taken on the iPad itself). -

iPhoto, moving photo's to my document folder, and remove thumbnails from iphoto.
How to? Please...I cut and paste items, it is removed from iphoto for a few seconds then they appear again. The photos that are appearing on the mini - are they photos taken with an iPhone or iPad? If so, open System Preferences on both computers and select the iCloud tab. On the mini, click the Photos checkmark off and on the MBP click the Photos checkmark on (if it isn't already), then start iPhoto and select Preferences. Select the Photo Stream tab and make sure Photo Stream is on.

How can I find all local photos from ipad2?
I am having difficulties finding photos in local album in ipad2. When I try to add photo from a event folder that has 500+ photos, only a subset comes up and I am not able to select the photo I want. Is there a setting I need to have? Thx.
As a workaround you can enable "Always use native photo browsers" in the PS Touch settings. It's listed under "Preferences" -> "Access Local Photos setting". See attached screenshot

Syncing iPad2 doesn't move all photos selected in iTunes from the PC folder.
In iTunes 10.5 I select a folder where I heve the photos to be sync to iPad2 and I select all sub-folders. On iPad some folders appear completly empty and others with just some photos. The number of photos identified ion iTunes after selecting the folders is correct (9470) but it passes much less. I've already cleared the iPod cahe file so iTunes can recreate it but the problem remains. This was already occuring before ugrading to iOS5 but it seams now is worst. Does anyone have experienced this situation?
From Germany with not perfect English:
I had similar problem. Files that were not transferred had either no file-ending (.tif and .jpg-files without these endings are not synct) or a wrong ending (.pdf for example).
And the Apple-Hotline told me, a next iPod-software-update would allow a better sorting photos on the iPod. (Actually you can not use folders in folders, and all Photoes are sorted by date; a little help may be a count-number at the beginning of the file-name: 01.... 02.... 03... This helps, however it is not a good work for so many photos as you have.) -

How can I email a photo from ipad2 via 3G? When try, only see spinning gear and it says sending, but it never goes. Also, can facetime be used via 3G?

It is on the man. page 45

Correct, as I earlier intimated. It is to stop you from burning through your 3G data limit.
It won't since it only works on Wifi.
