Moving transport to different systems and different mandants

Hi all,
I'm new to sap transport managment, so I hope this is not too obvious question.
I've this kind of hypothetical situation. I have one develoopment system and 2 quality. On development system I have mandants 100, 200 and 300. On quality 1 I have mandants 100 and 200, and on quality 2 only 100.
DEV: 100, 200, 300
QL1: 100, 200
QL2: 100
Transport routes should go like this
DEV 100 -> QL1 100
DEV 200 -> QL1 200
DEV 300 -> QL2 100
What is important is that I would like to have it all within one transport layer. How it can be done? Is it connected with Standard Transport Layer?
Best regards
Marcin Cholewczuk

Hi Mark,
Thank you for response, I thought that target groups work differently. For example
                                         ------100--------> QL1
DEV --------------> /CUST target group/  ------200--------> QL1
                                         ------100--------> QL2
I thought that in such case when someone release transport in DEV system than this transport is being imported (after import operation) to all 3 locations (QL1 100, QL1 200 and QL2 100). So if in DEV system I release something in mandant 100 it will go to all 3 locations, if I release it in mandant 200 it will also go to all 3 locations and so on.
Second question would be how to enforce that data from DEV 300 goes to QL2 100 (change of mandant).
Best regards
Marcin Cholewczuk

  • Java transports across different SPS, EHP and release

    Hi All,
During an SPS/EHP upgrade, there is generally a transport freeze in the development landscape from DEV ->QA->PRD. This due to the incompatibility between the systems. SAP Note explaining the same is 1090842.
I understand that same is true for the Java developments as well. As the SC imported into track are specific to release and SP levels of the WAS. These would have to be adjusted and re-build, (after SPS/EHP upgrade of WAS) so that it refers to the new versions. But these new builds are possible in NWDI, which has not been updated. But these releases cannot be transported to QA before QA is also upgraded to same SPS/EHP as for DEV.
Please let me know if my understanding is correct. If yes, then is there a similar SAP Note/documentation available as for ABAP one explaining the same?
Appreciate your inputs on the same.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Arundeep Singh

    Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply. Your reply seems to talk more on the different release of NWDI and runtime systems.
My query is not about the relation of NWDI and Runtime Java systems compatibility. I want to know the restrictions on transports in which the Runtime system landscape, DEV->QA->PRD, when an SPS/EHP on release is being upgraded on runtime systems. The scenario where standard SAP developments has been modified is clear and there is good enough documentation available [here|https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-17604]. Let me try to explain the case again.
    1. Only the Runtime systems landscape being upgraded. NWDI remains the same.
    2. No SAP standard development has been modified.
    3. There is only custom development, but it has build and/or runtime dependency on standard SAP SWCV. e.g. dependency on JTECH 7.00
    4. Now DEV runtime Java system is upgraded, lets say to EHP1. That means the JTECH will change from JTECH 7.00 to JTECH 7.01 in Runtime DEV system.
    5. Now, I beleive that custom development/ SLD configuration should be adjusted so that custom development now depends on JTECH 7.01 and not on JTECH 7.00.
    6. If this custom development is not modified and transported to QA system, it may not work as the JTECH version is different in DEV and QA.
    7. There could be another option at point 5. It may be chosen not to change the dependency to new JTECH 7.01. but then it may not build or run properly as JTECH in DEV is now JTECH 7.01.
Similar case would be there in case of SPS as well. It is just in case of SPS it is more subtle. The SLD dependencies will remain same. But I wonder if any library/interfaces gets updated/deprecated then the applications may not run as expected. I understand the code is generally downward compatible, but not always.
This is why, I was checking if there is some official document explaining such scenarios. I am still searching. If I came across something i will provide the links.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Arundeep Singh
PS: I am not a Java developer. My judgement is purely based on the general logic.

  • VISA Write differs between TS Development System and LV Run-Time Engine

    Hi all
I made an application on LabVIEW to test BERs (Bit Error Rates), and I used VISA Write between two COM ports to exchange data.
Everything works fine using just LabVIEW.
Afterwards, I used TestStand to call my application (VI). The LabVIEW adapters from TestStand were set to Development System by default, and everything works OK!!
Finally, I needed to disable the development system, and set the LabVIEW adapters from TestStand to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine and I notice that the speed of the data exchange between the two COM ports decreased dramatically.
The only difference was the speed...because all the data (changed slowly in this case) arrived correctly on the other COM port too.
The symptom was the same as decreasing the baud rate...but the baud rate and all the other configurations remained the same. The only difference was the change between Develpment System to Run-Time Engine to notice this decreased speed between the exchanged data using VISA Write.
    Any solutions for this?
    Thanks in advance

    Joao,
you state that using the LV Developement System as execution platform for your LV code modules result in faster datatransfer between the COM ports than using the LV Run-Time Engine.
So i am pondering: Does this refer to TS at all?
    Please check the following:
Run you communication using a sole LV application in LV Developement System. This should be fast. Now build an executable of this application and run that one. Do you see the same behavior?
If there is no difference in a sole LV approach, there have to be some settings in the TS approach making this slow. So please let us know:
Are there different modules involved in that data transfer (which in fact points to the reply Christophe made)?
What about loading/unloading options of the modules?
How big is the hierarchy of the modules, e.g. is it necessary for the RTE to load stuff the Dev Env has already in memory due to loading a lvproj.......?
Could you provide a simple example sequence+modules showing this behavior?
What versions of LV and TS are you using?
    hope this helps,

If a server supports resuming downloads then the download should continue where it left off.<br />
You can test that by simple starting a large download and wait a minute or so before pausing it.<br />
Then you can close and restart Firefox and see if resuming works.
You can set the pref browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 on the about:config page.<br />
That will make Firefox ask for confirmation if you want to cancel the download if you close Firefox.

  • What's different between busniess system and technical system in SLD?

I can enter product(ect.ERP r/3) , components(ect.FI-CO module) to technical system , then enter technical system to busniess system  but ,who can explain  what's different between busniess system and technical system in SLD, exactly?
    THANKS!

Technical Systems are of following types:
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
    1.)WEBas java,
    2.)Standalone JAVA
    3.)Third party
    4.)Web as ABAP
    1) Web AS Java
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
    2.)Standalone Java
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon
Web AS java belongs to the NetWeaver Comes with both ABAP and Java, Standalone instread comes separate from the netWeaver.
    3) Third party technical sytem
It can be any of the technical sytem. let us say if you want to send a file to R/3, here the file reside in your local system. for that you can define your local system as a third party technical system.
All those machines that comes under non sap, belongs to the third party.
4.) Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.

Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within XI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems.
Depending on the associated technical system, the following types of business systems are defined in the SLD:
    · Web AS ABAP
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP.
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP, can play the role either of an application system or an integration server. An integration server is the central component of XI, which provides a framework for the exchange of information among various internal and external entities of a company. The integration server facilitates the interaction between the different operating systems and applications across internal and external networks.
    · Web AS Java
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS Java.
    · Standalone
A business system, which is associated with a standalone Java application.
    · Third-party
A business system, which is associated with a third-party technical system.

  • Cloning use the different gcc version between source system and target sys

    Hi All,
Our system is: Application tier and Database tier is split to two servers.
We should run a cloning, but I found the different gcc version on application tier on source system and target system.
The source application tier server is RedHat Linux ES3, gcc version is 3.2.3
The target application tier server is RedHat Linux ES3, gcc version is 2.9.6
There is the same gcc version on database tier on source system and target system, they are gcc 2.9.6.
My question: Can I use the different gcc version between source system and target system when I run an erp cloning?
    Thanks & Regards
    Owen

Not necessarily, you might get some errors if the version is higher and it is not supported by the OS. An example is Note: 392311.1 - usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/3.4.5/libgcc_s.so: undefined reference to 'dl_iterate_phdr@GLIBC_2.2.4'
To be on the safe side, make sure you have the same version (unless you want to give it a try).

  • Different number of data records in source system and BI system

    Hi all,
I have been using datasources 0HR_PA_0 and 0HR_PA_1.
When I run and check the records in source system via RSA3 there are 4893 and 360 records respectively.
When I extract the records into my 0PA_C01 cube, however, 3058 and 249 records are coming respectively.
Furthermore, when I create a personnel record in source system, it is not extracted into BI cube.
    What may be the reason?
I am looking forward to your suggestions.
    Regards,
    Dilek

    Srinath,
I've created many new personnel records in source system and these records are displayed in the list of RSA3.
However, these newly created records are not reflected in BI cube when I extract data via the specified datasources.
I've checked whether there are some filters defined, however no filter seems to exist.
By the way, I am using full upload; no delta!

When LabVIEW builds an executable, it removes the parts which are not needed from the VIs (like BDs, or FPs of VIs which will not be opened). I'm assuming this is an extension of that where the icon is not copied over. Another option is that the RTE is simply missing the code necessary to display this specific this.
In any case, I would say it's a bug, albeit a minor one.
I don't think this is a bug, the references refere to a given CTL file, which is not present in the RTE, I think LabVIEW disconnects the reference form the typedef and only saves the properties needed.

  • Importing transports in different versions.

    Dears,
I want to confirm that is it possible to perform transports in different version systems. Our requirement is to create the request from ECC5 and then import it in our Netweaver 04s server.
So first I want to know is it possible and second thing as i know for it i have to only manually copy cofile and datafile in target system and then by STMS add to buffer and then import,Is there anything else also i have to do like changing file permission.I am using windows 2003 server.
    Please suggest.
    Deepak

as u would be aware transport is done by r3 trans
different versions of R3trans are fully compatible with each other, because the data is transported in a standard format. Thus one can use different versions of R3trans for export and import.
Transports between different databases or operating systems are not a problem either.
When you transport between different SAP release levels, note that this usually does not present any technical problems due to the upward and downward compatibility of R3trans , but logical inconsistencies could occur in such transports
Further technical and logical problems for the various releases are outlined in notes 60928, 120151, 126776 and 330267.
    hope this helps !

    Hi Gurus,

Again, for other objects, Transport Target system is QAS, But we want to change it to NBW (A new system to which we want to send transport) . I am able to change package of Infoobjects. Is there mechanism to change Original System and Transport Target for System? Please let me know ASAP.

  • Transport between different releases

    Hi,
Is it possible to have transports between two server with different releases,
one is on 701 and other is on 700,
    pls advise.
    Thanks

    Hello Irfan,
Transport of customizing between diffeent releases is NOT supported. Also generated objects, which were generated by customizing, should NOT be transported between different releases.
SAP objects may NOT be transported between different releases (e.g. a table in an old release could have less fields than in the newer release and thus such a transport might delete data or if an abap calls a function module and in new release have one parameter more, then you get syntax errors if you transport only one of them from a system with the old release, ...).
So data loss and severe inconsistencies can happen if you transport SAP objects between different releases, or between systems with same release but different support package level or between systems with different addons or different add-on versions etc.
For pure customer objects (e.g. Z-tables, Z-programs, Y-tables, y-programs or objects in customer name space) it might be ok to transport them. But if e.g. your Z-table uses an SAP data element which has maybe been changed in the new release or does maybe no more exist, you can also get problems during transport of your z-table.
Data loss and severe inconsistencies can happen if you transport SAP objects between  different releases, or between systems with same release but different support package level or between systems with different addons or different add-on versions etc.
    Please check the following:

1089083   Transports between Basis Releases 7.0* and 7.1*
