MRP Collective Planning -v- project

Dear PP Experts
We have an established project manufacturing environment with demand generated in PS resulting in project production orders, project supply orders and eventually project stock. This stock is then kitted to the project production order. All through this process MRP is happy with the demand = supply picture.
To enable an improvement in purchasing with more successful grouped PO concepts and less inventory, we wish to use the collective planning flag on the material master for many components. This allows the supply side of MRP to be consolidated into non-project supply where the stock comes in as plant stock and then is issued to the project production order.
As our demand is still project we have some electronic components that are inspected or validated to a particular standard for a particular project. We want to move these to project stock to safeguard their use. MRP is still using the collective planning logic and effectively ignores the project stock.
The logic we believe MRP should use if the Material Master u201Ccollective planningu201D flag is active:-
IF demand is from a project AND there is a project stock
     Use any project stock first.
ELSE
     Use any plant stock that is available
ELSE
     Create a collectively planned supply order for the missing components.
We have looked at many options (e.g. GPD, project sharing) but none support this concept successfully. Has anybody tried to implement this scenario in SAP or tried to modify MRP to do something similar. ?

Many thanks for the reply, we have looked at this and unfortunately the issue for us is that the demand is plant specific u201Cin one plantu201D, the BOMu2019s and in logistics and organisation need to all be in the same plant. If we used MRP areas to drive this we would have to net the demand across the two plants. For this to work we would need to have the normal demand (the collective planning) in one plant with the associated BOMu2019s and production orders with another plant that has the separate (individual components) project demand. The real challenge is that we can not have a single demand (BOMu2019s, orders, etc) in a single plant for all.

Collective Planned orders Scheduling for lower level orders with reference to the Superior order

Hi All,
Collective planned order scheduling.
I have been trying to reschedule the superior planned order and i was expecting the lower level planned orders to reschedule based on the superior planned order.
My problem is
when i try to reschedule the superior planned order the system is not rescheduling the lower level planned orders.
For example if i change the basic finish date of superior planned order as 30/09/2014 and reschedule the planned order it is only scheduling the header planned order and the lower level planned order is not scheduling.
Could some one tell me why this is not happenning at planned order level.
As the rescheduling of collective order will work at production order level but for some reason it is not happening at planned order level(as there is no option available to do so).
Please give your thoughts on this asap.

Please observe that your system is working as designed. Planned orders are scheduled independently, even when they are part of a network/collective order. Note 152319 explains the planned order scheduling in detail and it provides the following information:
* No scheduling of overall networks is executed although a directly manufactured component is assigned.
Note that no scheduling of the overall network is executed for planned orders. For the components requirements dates are determined. In order to cover them, planned orders are created in the next MRP run. Since the requirements are not managed using the exact time, the results of the planned order scheduling and of a scheduling of the overall network of the converted collective order can differ.

Error Message when opening Project Plan on Project Professional from PWA 2013 using either Google Chrome or Firefox

Dears,,
One of our clients uses Google Chrome
as their standard navigator to open PWA 2013 that we have deployed for them.
Every thing went fine until we tried to open a project plan using Project Professional 2013 from PWA using the Edit in Project Professional option, we had the below error:
"Project Web App was unable to find the specified Project.
the project was not found on Project Web App. some possible reasons include:
The Project has not yet been saved successfully to the server.
The Project has been deleted on the server.
you don’t have adequate permissions to open this project.
if the project is available in the local cache, you can click the globe in the status bar and select "Work offline", and then open the project, if the problem continues, contact
your administrator."
Please note that IE is working fine with this scenario,
the belwo screenshot shows the error that appears to the users.

I suspect that this problem reveals that PWA does not work perfectly in browsers other than the Internet

Error running Execution plan for 'Project Analytics in PeopleSoft 9.0 '

I am running execution plan for Projects Peoplesoft 9.0 (BI Apps version 7.9.6)
The issue is the file type data source went thru the database (data warehouse)
the tasks that were completed SUCCESS were from the File source only from (SrcFiles).

I created the PSFT connection in 'Applicaiton connection' of Repository manager.
Also the Informatica server's tnsnames.ora should have entry for the source( PSFT database) and that of the datawarehouse.

Can we use MRP to plan for FERT in-house produced with PIR's & has Min/Max

I have a very critical issue from the client who wants to use MIN/ MAX stock values for planning its finished products (in-house produced)
here is the details of the scenario
Client recieves 2 Excel files every week from customer
1st file contains the Weekly Demand Forecast of FERT material for next 1 year and they upload it in MD61 as PIR's BUT this value is also Inclusive of Safety stock value (ex: if weekly demand entered in MD61 as PIR is 50 and if safety stock value is 10, then actual demand is only 40)
2nd file send contains only safety stock values (for ex in this case let it = 10) to be maintained for the FERT materials
the client wants MRP to plan and trigger based on this PIR's in MD61 and Safety stock level fand plan for FERT, HALB and also ROH materials as defined in the BOM also taking into consideration the current WIP levels (Work in progress for any existing production orders currently being processed) based on the production Lead times values maintained
so what the client wants is they want to maintain 2 stock values, that is one least stock value and other higher value which if stock falls below this point, will trigger production based on the lead time and considering any WIP levels also
(for ex in this case if PIR = 50 and safety stock is 10, MRP run result client wants is = 30 and NOT =40)
so here are my questions
1. is this scenario feasible? use safety stock and min/max level for in-house produced finished which has demand PIRs in MD61 at the same time?
2. Also due to SOX complaince regulations, the client does not want to change the forecast values in MD61, so is it possible to make some settings so that forecast is corrected by WIThOUT including the safety stock value in it? ( for ex: in this case as = 40 only and NOt as 50)
3. which all settings should i maintain like for MRP type or lot size or stock qty levels or anyother customizations if any required so that when we run MRP, can it ignore the safety stock value and generate the client desired output?

Hi Chakri,
This is not possible as per standard functionality. MRP always creates proposals for the shortage quantity of the safety stock. We have used the user exit in the plant level MRP run to exclude both plant and safety stock in the net requirements calculation.
You have to write logic to convert the safety stock into plant stock in the user exit so there will be no additional procurement proposals...you can create custom indicatar in materail master or linked any existing indicator like MRP group to the user exits so the MRP will checks this and will not create proposals for the selected parts.

Sufficient stock but MRP create planned order and purchase requisition .

Hi Expert,
After MRP run planned order and purchase requisition created . but the problem is for child material sufficient is there but still PR and plnd order is created .
MRP type PD, LOT size EX,Strategy group 10, for testing purpose I made safety stock 0, min lot size 0 , max lot size 0.
I cant find the cause why MRP create PR and Pland order for the material which has sufficient stock. Please help.

could you check the following master data value:
Lot size -> MB Monthly ( only for test)
Rounding value -> null
Strategy 40 MTS.
You can try with this setting in order to figure out what is the problem.
You can check also orizzon planning and re-scheduling (set to 999).

As an instructor, I put a lot of emphasis on storyboarding.
Paper and pencil works best for me as the first step, but "Word" is

to record in Captivate.

from a storyboard and written script is the best way to
build effective eLearning objects, as well as the most effective
method for quick and easy (easier) editing for the developer
(especially when changes are needed "post-production") - it is just
best for everyone.

Yes, that is the key that determines how a cost estimate is performed and valuated.
Depending on the object being costed, either the functions of either unit costing or product costing can be used.To calculate the costs of producing a material, you create a product cost estimate with or without a quantity structure
In a cost estimate with a quantity structure, the costing variant determines the following:
1. Which dates are valid for the cost estimate itself and for exploding and valuating the quantity
structure.
2. How the BOMs and routings are selected to create the quantity structure
3. Which prices are selected to valuate the quantity structure
4. How overhead is calculated
You create a unit cost estimate to cost the following objects:
1.Materials (cost estimate without quantity structure)
2.Materials (additive cost estimate)
3.Production orders in Controlling
4.Internal orders
5.WBS elements
6.Base planning objects

In unit costing, the costing variant determines which prices are selected to valuate the individual costing items and how overhead is calculated.

check Mr. Vinod's inputs abt costing
1. Maintain following master data:
MM01 Material Master with Costing and accounting view. Make sure all the cost Std, Moving avg etc is maintained along with valuation class in Accounting view 1. In costing tab pls make sure "with qty structure" and "Material Origin" are ticked.
CS01 BOM with components marked with costing relevance in Status/Long Text Tab. Also check all the qty are correct.
CR01 Work Center in Basic data tab maintain standard value key sau SAP1 and in costing tab maintain the workcenter, activity type and formulas (Usually standard formulas like for Machine Hours SAP006, Labour SAP007, Setup Activity SAP005 is used).
KL01 Cretae activity types, in basic data tab maintain ATyp Category AS "1" and cost element (as provided by your FI Guy).
KP26 Activity pricing, here with the combination of Activity type and the cost center you assign price to the activity.
2. SPRO Activity
Maintain Costing sheet IMGControllingProd cost controllingProd Cost PlanningBasic settingoverheadsdefine costing sheet.
OKKN Define costing variant, you define costing type (In the costing type, you define the purpose of a material cost estimate by specifying, for example, which field in the material master record the costing results can be transferred to like std price, moving avg etc), Valuation Variant (defines how the prices are prioratized), date control and transfer structure.

1. CK11N CREATE COSTING RUN
2. CK24 CREATE PRICE UPDATE (You Mark and release the prce to be updated)
4. COSTING VARIANT WRT PP

3. OKK1 or OPM1 DEFINE COSTING TYPE

I'm experimenting here just a bit... and I wondered. Is it possible to map a Service Request Type to a Collection Plan. Seems logical functionality to me, but I couldn't find it anywhere...

i think Anders has understated the difficulty of combining these views: this is a bit like saying "show me all the orange things, given this bucket of cats and this bucket of fruit" yes, they are both "orange", but fur is not the same
as fruit rind; they're not the same "orange".
the 2010 Service Request implementation was never intended to be a serious use case (i assume you're talking about the SCSM Service Request demo implementation on codeplex), it was intended
to be a demo of what you could do with the form and object interfaces.
The solution here should be simple, convince your client that their solution has been replaced by a newer, better version, Resolve Close and then deprecate these requests, and start reporting only the new type requests. these are history, and dirty data,
and should be ignored.
