Ms-windows-store:reviewapp directs me to XBox store (bug?)

Hello,
I'm making a WP 8.1 WinRT app with an app Rate button. And I'm going by what's said on
this page.
reviewapp Shows the review page for the specified app.
If the app ID is not specified, shows the review page for the calling app.
So the code in the button click event looks like this:
await Windows.System.Launcher.LaunchUriAsync(new Uri("ms-windows-store:reviewapp"));
But when I execute it, I am directed to the XBox store instead. Is this a bug? Or is there an error in my code?

I think you should be using this
await Windows.System.Launcher.LaunchUriAsync(
    new Uri("ms-windows-store:reviewapp?appid=" + CurrentApp.AppId));

  • Login to WebApi (MVC + WebApi) with Microsoft Account from Windows Store App

    Hi
    How can I access a WebApi Controller (ASP.NET MVC+WebApi) that is secured with Microsoft Account from a Windows Store App?
    I have no idea how to login. I tried the LiveSDK but this gives me only access to OneDrive, Callender and so on.
    Could someone please point me in the right direction.
    Thanks
    Guenter

    Hi Guenter,
    To be clear, you are using Microsoft account as login and at same time you have your own REST service for other functionalities?
    Let's say if you login with LiveSDk, you should be able to get some access token, see this for more information:
    Signing users in, after that use the token to access your REST service, as I understand REST service is a kind of http request, we can use HTTPClient to request data from the address.
    I'm afraid there is no existing sample here but the only thing I found is HTTPClient sample:
    https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/HttpClient-sample-55700664, you can use POST to send your token information to the server.

  • Access to my Windows "Store" is only via my Wife's MS Live Sign-In UserID and there is No Way to Change it I can Find

    THE ISSUE:
    Whenever i go to the Windows Store on my 8.1 Pro Laptop and try to install **Anything**, Windows asks for me to sign onto my Windows Account but **ONLY** Offers me the choice of signing onto my Wife's account.
    NOTES:
    (1) I have already signed onto my Microsoft Account: at the time of booting into Windows on my Laptop [i.e., entered my "[email protected]' MS Live userid for signing in].
    (2) There are no Options (that I can find) within the Windows Store to allow me to designate a Different ID (That is: My Windows ID [email protected], rather than my wife's Windows ID of '[email protected]').  That is, the sign-on screen comes
    up **Automatically** with the UserID of my wife ("[email protected]"), ONLYT allowing me to enter the **Password** for That Particular UserId - but **Not** change the UserID
    (3) When I then go to my Browser and sign into Microsoft Live **directly** with my [email protected] MS Live Userid, there are no Options **Anywhere** in my ID Profile, Account, - OR Anywhere Else [I looked at Every Menu Option for my MS Live account]
    to allow me to ensure that the ID "[email protected]" is somehow an alias that I can delete, or in any other way "Tell" MS Live to ONLY use my [email protected] MS Live Account for the MS Store.  Simply Speaking: that ID [My
    wife's "[email protected]" ID] does NOT Show Up ANYWHERE under ANY Menu in my Microsoft Live Account, so even if I sign [again, since it did it at Boot time also already] into my MS Live Account, there is nowhere where there is some "Option"
    to somehow "Turn Off" the recognition of ONLY my wife's Microsoft Live ID from my Window's Store.
    Yes, I suppose I **Could** simply ask my wife for her ID - EXCEPT Guess What?  She asked for it to be deleted when she ran into MS Login problems on her laptop (perhaps because she forgot the PW) and I've been told recently By MS Support that indeed
    it has been deleted.
    Sooo:  Is There Any Way To Even Manually (in the Registry or elsewhere) Fix This Issue?
    [B-T-W:  I think the problem originally occurred when my wife tried to purchase MS Office 365 University and had major problems creating a MS Live ID and being able to Login to get to her machine.  Once she had purchased the subscription
    - which was for TWO Machines - I used her ID at that time to try and get access to the install files for a copy MS Office 365 University to install on **My** laptop as well.  I think that is when I originally was able to input her ID ("[email protected]")
    somewhere as I tried to get to Office 365, which was purchased under her "[email protected]" ID.  It Never Worked - because she forgot her password somehow, so I eventually gave up on that approach and she asked for her money back for her
    purchase of MS Office 365 University and was given nit back.  Since I still wanted MS Office 365 University, I used a link from an email sent me by Microsoft to purchase, download, and install MS Office 365 University thru my OWN [email protected]
    MS Live account.  But this never succeeded in "Changing" this issue I've described above of all access to MS Store coming up with my wife's "[email protected]" MS Live ID automatically to sign into the Store.]

    FangZhou:
    What I meant by the sentence "ONLY Offers me the choice of signing onto my Wife's account." is
    that my Windows Store shows my Wife's OLD (I say "OLD" because according to Microsoft, it has since been deleted) Microsoft Account UserID - NOT **My** UserID, and doesn't allow for any means or option to switch out the UserID that is being presented.
     It only allows for input on the password, which won't do me any good, since my wife (1) Doesn't remember her hardly-ever-used Microsoft Account userid Password and (2) I really should be able to use my **Own** Microsoft Account UserID anyway, to which
    I **do** know the password.
    In any case, I ran the Troubleshooter you pointed me to (Thanks!).  But the Troubleshooter did **Not** complete successfully, because the ms-windows-store:PurgeCaches file is **Missing** (this error message came up while the Troubleshooter was running,
    and also the Troubleshooter results indicated only one of the three problems it found with the Windows Store on my machine had been fixed, the principle cause being exactly because this particular file is indeed missing) ==> see the following messages cut

    Now that I've run this Troubleshooter, I have a **Completely Different [and seemingly WORSE] Problem** with the Windows Store on my machine:  when I click on it, I am sent Right Back to my Windows Desktop - every time.  I don't even get Into the
    Windows Store AT ALL - immediately after clicking, the screen changes back to The Desktop.
    Any Thoughts on how I rebuild/recreate this Windows Store Cache file; or otherwise fix my access to Windows Store now?

  • Windows Store should have a "Desktop App" or "Windows Store App" filters.

    Hi all,
    I don't know where to post this or how to feedback to the "Store" app.
    My friends and I think Windows Store should have a "Desktop App" filter feature.
    Thinking when you search for the app and have some Desktop apps appear in search result can be sometime frustrated.
    Or some user just want to find some desktop app for his PC, he should search in Windows Store easily by just filter only desktop apps.
    I think it would be a great feature for Windows Store.
    Thanks.

    Hello P.
    when you have the Windows-10-Preview, you can use the feedback-function to provide the information to microsoft directly. As Microsoft meantioned in the live-Stream (21/01/2015), microsoft is giong to listen to users feedback.

    Ii have downloaded the hp printer control app on my desktop pc which is windows 8, it shows my printer which is the HP Photosmart B110a its product number is CN245B. It keeps saying in my windows store app that it needs to be updated as other apps do but it just says pending constantly and theres no change ive used the app to get software for printer such as certain wizards and such. but it wont update ive got a hp printer control app on my ipod touch too and this also has no trouble picking up the printer and works fine, is it because ive got windows 8? please can someone help as its not right for it just to be there stuck not updating, thanks
    lollykaye2005

    A bit of a shot in the dark, but this appears to be an issue with pulling down the update from the Windows Store.  I have not run into this issue directly, but this thread has a lot of information.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_store/windows-8-apps-are-pending-...
    The one tidbit that might help here from that thread is:
    "finally I found a solution. go to troubleshooting (press win+w >then type troubleshooting). now a window opens in desktop. click "fix problems with windows updates". now click next. windows will search for solutions, but it wont find anything. then windows will ask if u want to try in administrator mode. click yes. windows will find and solve the problem. that's it."

  • What is the alternative for DisplayMemberPath="Value" for Windows Store applications?

    I think there is a bug with Windows Store Applications when it comes to using DisplayMemberPath="Value".
    Here is my code
    <ComboBox Height="40" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" SelectedValuePath="Key" DisplayMemberPath="Value" x:Name="comboBox1" FontSize="25"/>
    var source = new Dictionary<string, double>();
    source.Add("Item1", 0.4);
    source.Add("Item2", 0.3);
    source.Add("Item3", 0.1);
    source.Add("Item4", 0.1);
    var formateDSource = new Dictionary<string, string>();
    foreach (var item in source)
    formateDSource.Add(string.Format("[{0}, {1}]", item.Key, item.Value), item.Key);
    comboBox1.ItemsSource = source;
    If you use this code in WPF in works perfectly. However if you use this code in a Windows Store Application then the Combo Box is empty and an error is thrown. So is there an alternative way to do this in Windows Store Applications and have I unearthed a
    bug? Because I have researched the Web for days and found no solution to this.*please do not comment unless you have tried my code as a Windows Store App not a WPF in Visual Studios. Can Someone post an example based on my code that works in Windows Store

  • How to display the PPT, PDF, XL, DOC files with in the Windows store app?

    Hi,
    I would like to display the PPT, PDF, XL, DOC files with in the Windows store app? is there any controls provided by Microsoft to view these files with in the app?
    Or
    Any workaround to achieve the desired functionality?
    Kindly provide your inputs if any one has.
    Regards
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
    As I know currently there is no in-build functionality to display the PPT, XLS or DOC file directly on the Windows Store App, but you can always open these files by
    Launcher class
    However a good news is we can display PDF on Windows Store App by
    Windows.Data.Pdf class, see this for more information:

  • Tabbed page in a Windows Store App

    I am creating a Windows 8.1 app (Windows Store App) and I need to have a tab-based page in this app. As an example, for adding a new contact, I need to group the new contact details in tabs which can be switched from the left side
    menu items.
    I tried to use a FlipView for this purpose but I don't want the users to be able to switch between pages by flipping. I want to create a page similar to
    [Add a recipe] page in Microsoft Food & Drink app.
    How can I do this?

    You can create a Page that contains a
    Frame and switch out the frame as each menu item is clicked.

  • [Forum FAQ] Go to Start Screen/Desktop when closing Windows Store App

    After install Windows 8.1 Update 1, you will notice these things set by default even on touchscreen laptops and desktops:
    Windows 8.1 now boots directly to the desktop.
    Closing Windows Store Apps and go to desktop instead of Start Screen.
    Besides option “When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start” since Windows 8, another new option in Taskbar Properties “Show Windows Store app on taskbar” is used to control closing app behavior.
    Features of "Show Windows Store app on taskbar"
    When the setting is checked, all of the Windows Store apps that are currently running will display on taskbar. You can easily switch between Windows Store apps and your desktop and its applications through the taskbar. For mouse users,
    you can also access the taskbar within a Windows Store app. Just move the mouse cursor to the button of the screen, the taskbar pops up.
    When the setting is unchecked,
    Windows Store apps have no minimize button, only Close button
    Windows Store apps that are open are not visible on Taskbar
    Windows Store apps can still be pinned to the taskbar
    How do these two options work for closing app behavior?
    Modern app and Taskbar   setting
    OFF
    ON
    Boot   to desktop setting
    OFF
    Close goes to Start
    Close reveals the   app that was previously used, and eventually dead ends at the Desktop
    ON
    Close goes to desktop
    Close reveals the   app that was previously used, and eventually dead ends at the Desktop
    Know why “When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start” does not work when “Show Windows Store app on taskbar” is checked on
    As MironV mentioned in the
    thread, Windows 8.1 Update is designed to introduce a number of changes for mouse and keyboard users that would help them use and switch between Windows Store apps alongside their familiar desktop applications. A lot of these changes only made sense when
    combined together, so they are toggled by one setting, which is “Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar.” This is usually enabled together with the first setting as a complimentary set of improvements for desktop users. When the setting is enabled, Windows
    Store apps are intended to feel more like regular maximized applications living on the desktop, though they are full screen only. For example, when you launch apps from Start, they appear on the taskbar until they are closed. You can also minimize them or
    switch between them by invoking the taskbar.
    Please understand that unchecking the “When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start" setting has no effect on close and minimize behavior when the “Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar” setting is checked, since
    they are controlling two independent things. If you tend to use only one Windows Store app at a given time, it may seem like we’re not respecting the setting by going to the desktop.
    Please click to vote if the post helps you. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

    I don't know if I'm the only one, but on my desktop (using mouse and keyboard only) I like to have my Start screen as my main screen.  To ensure this I made sure to uncheck the "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop" box and
    check the "Show Start on the display I'm using when I press the Windows Logo key" box. I also really like having the task bar appear at the bottom even when I'm using a modern app.  Based on the settings I've chosen (i.e., boxes I've checked or not checked),
    I would expect to be taken back to the start screen and not the desktop whenever I close an app.  From what I've read from your response and from others in this thread, in order to accomplish this function (i.e., closing an app and going directly to the
    start screen) I need to uncheck the "Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar" setting.  By doing this I get the functionality I was looking for when the apps are closed and I get sent to the start screen.  However, I am now not able to see the taskbar
    when I'm in a modern app or when I'm on the start screen.  This seems counterintuitive/confusing as many have mentioned.  Not to mention it creates an additional step for users to get back to the Start screen.
    All I want to do is (1) use my start screen as my main screen, (2) see the taskbar when running whatever app I'm using (e.g., modern), and (3) go back to my start screen (and not the desktop) when I close an app.  It would only make sense that I should
    get these results if I leave the "Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar" box checked and the "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start" box unchecked; but unfortunately this is NOT the case.  I really hope that
    an update fixing this is coming sooner rather than later because this is really annoying.

  • How to use offline map for windows store app using c# and xaml

    Hi friends,
    I want to integrate offline map in my windows store app but I am not able to achieve that.
    Below is my requirement:
    When a user wants to go somewhere where she/he doesn't want to use wi-fi or mobile data but wants to use map to assist her/him to roam around. For this I want to give an option to download the map for that region/area before leaving for that place and there
    she/he can use map even in offline.
    Is it possible that I can achieve this using Bing maps?
    If yes then tell me the processes to follow.
    If no then can I achieve this using "Here" or by using any other API or by tweaking any way?
    Note: I am showing maps in case of online and user can search for directions or any places in that. I am using Bing maps for that.
    Thanks,
    S.Sandeep

    Hi Sandeepmsandy,
    There is no available code sample for this scenario. You may write your own.
    Step 1: Get pdf URL from sqlite database. Please refer to the following MSDN blog and see a code sample.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertgreen/archive/2012/11/13/using-sqlite-in-windows-store-apps.aspx. Note, you need to retarget the project to 8.1 and then get two sqlite packages from NuGet before building this sample.
    Step 2: Use some special classes to get file from serer.
    HttpWebRequest can help download small pdf files. For more information to see
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/de96a61c-e089-4595-8349-612be5d23ee6/download-file-with-httpwebrequest?forum=winappswithcsharp. It’s easy for use, but if you want to download the larger or many files, it’s recommend to use
    BackgroundTransfer namespace. The classes in this namespace provide a power way to transfer files in the background. See a code sample from MSND.
    https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Background-Transfer-Sample-d7833f61.

  • Launching a windows store app after installation using c#

    I am just curious if there is a way i can launch installed windows store applications within an application. I mean when i click an app, it launches if installed or downloads and launch from windows store Thank you...

    Hi Joseph,
              You cannot force an application to download and install from the Windows Store, by-design.  Only the user can allow an app to install.
    If you have an app already installed, you can use the
    file protocol or URI activation to launch apps which are designed to handle the specific resources, but you can't simply open another app without context.

    Hi,
    If you want to open an excel file by a windows store app. There is no direct API in windows store app can handle excel file. You will need to find a third party component. But
    if you want to launch a file into its default handler, please see
    Launcher.LaunchFileAsync API. And you can refer to the link below:
