MSE Wips compatibility

Hi guys, I have a platform with this elements:
MSE
7.4.100.0
CISCO PRIME NCS
1.1.2.12
WLC 5508
7.2.115.1
I would like to active the Wips functionality on the access points 1131, I have already the Wips License over the MSE, I don't know if there is some compatibility issue about this, because I'm not able to make it work, I'll be waiting for your comments.
Regards,
Alberto Badilla.

  • Cisco WLC with Bonjor services - MSE 3310 compatibility

    Hi All,
We have a Cisco WLC 5508 currently running on code 7.2. We have Cisco MSE 3310 appliance (which is EoS & EoS) and it is running on code 7.2 as well.
Now, we want to implement Bonjor Gateway services to support Apple Services such as Apple TV, Apple Printer etc.
My understanding is that in order to deploy Bonjour gateway the controller needs to be at least on version 7.4.
I can upgrade the Controller Code, but I need to know the compatibility between Cisco WLC code 7.4 (7.4.100.0) with Cisco MSE 3310 code (7.3.101.0, as it the highest code available). MSE 3310 appliance compatibility with WLC Code 7.4 ?
I checked the Cisco Software Compatibility Matrix, and it's not clear at all.

    Thanks and Regards,
    CJ

If you really want to keep everything compatible, you might want to look at another route, like using Avahi as an mDNS gateway.  Take a look at this document... there are other mDNS gateways out there which can work, but this doc is strictly for the Avahi:

  • Prime 1.3: incorrect MSE license count

    Hello!
I have the following equipment for the WiFi infrasrtucture
    Prime NCS (1.3)
    MSE 3355 (7.4.100.0)
    WLC 5508 (7.4.100.0)
The problem is that Prime 1.3 incorrectly displays MSE wIPS Monitor Mode APs license count.
I have 20 monitor mode LAPs, but Prime displays only one LAP under MSE wIPS Monitor Mode APs count. In addition this one LAP is not in monitor mode.
The wIPS Monitor Mode APs license (AIR-WIPS-AP-25) is permanent.
At first MSE had been shipped with 7.2.110 with preinstalled wIPS license and then was uprgaded to 7.4.100.
    MSE and WLC are synced.
I tried to change the modes for these LAPs from monitor to local and backwards, but had no luck.
    Has anyine faced this problem?

    Thank you, Scott!
This is really, confusing, because there is no exact information about it in documentation.
In conclusion (correct me, if I am wrong):
MSE 7.4 supports the old AIR-WIPS-AP-25 license, but doesn't display it in proper way. This situation is normal and it should be so.

  • Imposible apply wips profile

Hi everyone i have 4 WLC 5508 (2 with 7.4.110 and 2 with 7.4.121) 1 MSE (7.4.110) and 1 CPI (1.3.0.20) with 50 license of wIPS enhanced local mode, all its synch WLCs with CPI and MSE Services with the WLCs, but when i create a new wIPS profile and try to apply to all the WLC or one by one of they i can't to do it, i check the synch services, the NMSP is active and running, the SNMP was config initially with v3 then i changed to v2 with public and private communities like are on the default config on WLCs and all the WLC are reachable and synch on the CPI, but even when i changed the SNMP community and delete the WLCs from the CPI and registered again still the same. Im attached one screenshot of the message.
Hope anyone can't give me some advice or idea.
    Best regards!!!

  • Ordering WCS with MSE

When ordering WCS with MSE, is this all you need for WCS?
    WCS-STANDARD-K9 ($0) + WCS-PLUS-500 ($44.5K)
In the past we've ordered WCS-APLOC-500. Did WCS-PLUS-500 replace it?
Is WCS-APBASE-500 for when you don't use MSE?

Yes you just need standard + Plus to integrate with MSE. Plus also gives you high availability which is a nice feature. Plus has replaced Loc.
Below link will give you all the info you need.

  • Wireless users keep dorpping out

    Please help.
I have a WLC 5008 control 11 APs(H-reap) in defferent locations. At one office, users there constantly disconnected from wireless network, then re-connected automatically few seconds later.  not just Apple products, PCs and laptops as well.  Settings of that office are same as other locations, but seams wireless connection is very unstable there.  it is an open space office, so signal receiving is actually very good everywhere in that office, but users keep dorppring out of wireless.  where should I start looking?
One thing, there are 2 APs in that office, one is from AU, and one is from JP, so they are on different controll code.  could that cause any problem?  that office is in JP.
    Thanks a lot.

This is too old version. You have to go for at least 7.4.121.0 which is a stable release.
Since you are running 6.x you cannot directly go to this version. You  have to go for 7.0.x code first & then upgrde to 7.4.121.0. Here is the release notes for this code
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn74mr02.html
Also make sure your WLC FUS upgraded to 1.7.0.0 as well. Refer below & this will take 30-40min outage to your wireless, keep that in mnd when doing.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/fus_rn_1_7_0_0.html
Refer this compatibility matrix to check all your AP/WLC/MSE/Prime compatibility depend on the prouducts you got in your environment

  • MSE and WLC Operation

    Hello,
I need to develop a solution of wIPS, but I'm not sure about the compatibility between the MSE and the WLC. My WLC is in 7.6.100 version and the MSE is 3310 model. Reviewing documentation, the MSE can only update until 7.3 version. Somebody knows if the version between wlc and mse must match, or which are the restrictions. Additionally, i can use Prime I or WSC, we have both systems.

but I'm not sure about the compatibility between the MSE and the WLC.
    Here is the compatibility information.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#pgfId-148604
My WLC is in 7.6.100 version
You should consider upgrade this to min 7.6.130.0  as that is the stable code of 7.6.x software train.
MSE is 3310 model. Reviewing documentation, the MSE can only update until 7.3 version. Somebody knows if the version between wlc and mse must match, or which are the restrictions.
It does not need to be exact match between WLC & MSE versions. Refer release notes of each product & version, it will listed the new features added in each releases. Since MSE 3310 not supporting 7.3.x onward, I would plan for MSE migration anyway. You can go with VM in later versions of MSE & no need to buy hardware for that.
Additionally, i can use Prime I or WSC, we have both systems
Go with Prime as WCS is not supported any longer. What's the reason still keeping the WCS ?

  • How do I download an OS (Lion) for a used-IMac that's had a complete memory wipe?

I just recently bought a used-Imac (only 5 months old) from a friend of mine which he did a complete memory wipe on the computer. Operating System and all. He had Mountain Lion which is the operating system the computer is asking me to reinstall but I can't because my apple I.D. never purchased Mountain Lion. He told me that he got it illegally which I didn't care too much for. I know the OS is only $20 which I would gladly pay for but the problem is that I have to have OS X v10.7 Lion to be able to download it. I tried downloading a version of it but it had said that I didn't have enough space on my disc for it? By the way, did I mention that nearly all memory was wiped away from the computer. I had 230-something gigabytes on my computer so this didn't make any sense to me as to why it couldn't download 10.7 Lion. Can anyone help me on this?

You only need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 in order to download Mountain Lion.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

Yes, you can put them in same mobility group.
To do this you have to enable "New Mobility" feature of your 5508 & configure the mobility between each others.
Since 7.5.x is deffered only 7.6.x is the option for this. (7.4.x is not supporting this feature). This will enable CAPWAP inter-controller communication instead of EoIP (used by legacy controllers 5508,2504, WiSM)

  • MSE License problem

I see an advice about we have reached 75% of clients trackin.
It says that our license can tracking 7000clientes.
Según lo que indica la web de Cisco la licencia del mse es ahora por APs no por clientes. No entiendo porque sale ese mensaje.
In Cisco web I see that  MSE license is AP-based now.
"With MSE Release 7.4 and later, licenses are access point (AP)-based and not endpoint-based. In order to accommodate this, new location service licenses are introduced.
There are two levels of licenses under Location Services License, Base Location and Advanced Location.
    Base Location License
The Base Location License is equivalent to the CAS license in the earlier software versions and is used for endpoint tracking. The license count is based on the number of APs supported.
Note: This is referred to as Location Services License in software release 7.4. In software release 7.5 and later, it is called the Base Location License.
The license format is L-LS-100AP. Here 'LS' refers to Location Services and '100AP' refers to 100 AP count."
I don´t understand why I see the 75% clients reached message.
The MSE is virtual and the installed version is 7.6.
    The licenses are
    L-MSE-7.0-K9
    y 7 PRO-L-LS-100AP
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

    Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your previous answer.
    I have a license for 700 APs (7 L-LS-100AP) and L-MSE-7.0-K9 license too.
In license Tab, I see this information too:
Service       Platform Limit by AP            Type                                                          Installed limit by AP                 License Type
CAS           2500                     CAS Elements                          700                         Permanent
wIPS          6000                     wIPS Monitor Mode APs             10                         Evaluation                                                             wIPS Local Mode APs                10                         (120 days left)
MC             2500                     Mobile Concierge                        10                          Evaluation
                                                                                                                                      (120 days left)
ANA           2500                      Location Analytics                       10                          Evaluation
                                                                                                                                       (120 days left)
I installed Cisco MSE Standard Virtual Appliance.
Now the number of  registerd clients is 3000 or 4000 and 500 APs.
If Cisco says in its documentation:
*With software version 7.4 the licensing model has been changed from client-based to AP-based. The total clients supported on MSE has also been increased from 18,000 on MSE software release 7.3 to 25,000 on MSE software release 7.4. BL/AL refers to Base Location/Advanced Location.
Why  do I see the message "License usage for Client Elements of the Context Aware Service has exceeded its threshold of 75% of the installed license count of 7000" if I have 4000 registered clients?
    Could it be a bug?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

  • Unable to assign wIPS profile to Controller (Mac address can not be found)

Guys and gals, I have been struggling with this one for a couple of days now and need some help.  I am running NCS 1.1.24, and 7.2.110 on both my MSE and WLC.   The WLC is synchronized with the MSE and my NMSP is active.   Anyone ever seen this issue.  I've reinstalled the OVA twice, dumped both the WLC and the MSE and re-added, including re-synchronization.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Andy

Still having issues.  I have tried this in different environments and different controllers and still get the same error message.  My concern is that perhaps this is a bug.   When I look at the wIPS profile I created it shows that the profile was applied to the MSE, however not applied to the controller.  When I click on the hyperlink to the MSE(s) Applied To column it opens up the Profile Assignments Details.   In there it gives the MSE Name of my MSE and under controller IP address, it says Unknown.  The footnotes say the Controller IP Addres will be Unknown if the controller is not managed by NCS.  However it is managed and in sync with the MSE.  Under Configure controller, my controller is showing as Reachable Managed and Syncronized.

  • What MSE 3350 versions are compatible with PI 1.4.0.45?

Sounds simple, but on CCO the latest MSE version I see listed for the 3350 is 7.3.101, and its release note compatibility matrix only says 1.2.0.103. Is the 3350 no longer supported with PI 1.3 and above?

Thanks, that looks promising! I had looked at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/1.4/release/notes/cpi_rn_14.html#wp103402
which seems to suggest the 3350 will not work with PI 1.4.

  • PI 2.1 and WLC 7.6 / MSE 7.5 code

Just got my PI 2.0 upgraded to 2.1
I was reading through the release notes and was wondering if PI 2.1 can be used with a 5508 running 7.6.120.0 code.  Currently we are running 7.4.100.60 and haven't put any new code on due to PI requirements.
Same goes for our 3555 MSE: wondering if 7.6.120.0 code will work.  Currently we are running 7.4.100.0 and are holding off upgrading due to PI requirements.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi,
I think answer can be found here:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#pgfId-148422
Prime Infrastructure 2.1 allows you to manage Cisco WLC Releases 7.5.102.0 and 7.6.x with the features of Cisco WLC 7.4.121.0 and earlier releases. Prime Infrastructure 2.1 does not support any features that are introduced in Cisco WLC Releases 7.5.102.0 and 7.6.x except the new access point platforms and the new mobility feature.

  • WLC 7.6.130.0 and PI 2.1 Compatability

    Hi,
Does PI 2.1 (Patch 2.1.2)  supports WLC (5508) version 7.6.130.0 ? From the compatibility table here http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#52734 , this version is not listed. The listed version 7.6.120.0 has gone under "Deferred Releases" on the download page with 7.6.130.0 being the only available in the 7.6 train. The MSE 7.6.132.0 is also not listed in the table. Although, the MSE release notes align all the components MSE 7.6.132.0, PI 2.1 and WLC 7.6.130.0 on one line here http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/mse/release/notes/mse7-6-132-0.html#98519 .
Just wanting to confirm compatibility before proposing a solution involving these components.
    Thanks,
    Rick.

We were told a few months ago that the next major version of PI (2.2 I think) would get it in sync with features of the WLC releases. They said that it would probably be out in November but I guess it's slipped a bit.
