MSI P67A C-45 Ram dual channel

Hi, i have MSI p67a c-45 with i5 2500k and corsair xms3 1600mhz.
I've enabled xmp profile in bios and its all working good but cpu-z shows that ram are not going in dual channel? I tried to find in bios dual channel option or something like that but no luck.
I dont know if rams are going in dual or no. I followed the manual and rams are in dimm 1 and 3 so it should be working.
Thanks.
http://img146.imageshack.us/g/80653814.png/

So, i moved ram from dimm3 blue to dimm 2 black, so its now blue, black and no change. Still Grey lines. But i ask friend to send me his pic of everest (he has only single mode ram) and compare to mine and there it is.
http://www.upnito.sk/0/guhq5fbuer3d4xsgm9x2pzpdnsrkhqyq.jpg - friends results only single mode
http://discovery.czechian.net/ever.PNG - dimm blue 1 and 3
http://discovery.czechian.net/blueblack_dimm1_2.PNG - dimm blue black 1 and 2
So i am thinking right that dual in ever.PNG is mean like dual mode channel? But cpu-z cant read it from bios or so? And sorry for my english.

  • [Other 865 Series] MSI 865PE Neo2-V and Dual Channel Mode Question

Hello, I have a quick question regarding dual channel mode with my current motherboard. I have an MSI 865PE Neo2-V and am wondering if it is possible to enable dual channel mode while having three RAM modules inserted in the motherboard.
For example, I currently have one 512MB PC3200 module in my computer. If I purchase another 512MB module and run them in dual channel mode, will it be possible to buy a 1GB module or another size module, and still have all three slots run in dual channel mode? Or is dual channel only operational on this motherboard if only two of the three slots are occupied?
    Thanks.

Dual channel requires an even number of sticks.

  • 3x256 ram dual channel ok ?

    hi agian,,,
Can I run dual channel memory mode with 3x 256Mb (2100) or does it only work with 2 banks "DUAL" ????
And if I cant run D/C mode will my pc be better with 2x256 D/C Mode or with 3x256 normal ...
    cheers

I have run benches and have not lost a single fps using 2x 512 compared to a single 512.
Using memtest I was assured that the bandwidth was increased using combined slots 1 and 3. Actually came out to be 35% increase over using 1 512 memory in slot 1 only.
The page file should stay enabled  as the system needs it in the event your system experiences a kernel mode STOP error to capture a Memoey Dump file.
I have already experienced this and I'm sure I'm not alone.
1  1/2 times ram for min and 3 x ram for max preferably on seperate IDE or hard drives.
I have min max set 768 for each HD for a combined 1536 which falls in the recomended allotment.
The system uses the inactive drive for the swap file.
Using AIDA 32 I see that I am now using 285MB ram that would be over the 256 max stated. Humm
I have most unneeded services disabled no restore running either.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR and Dual Channel

I just got an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor and 2 matched sticks of Mushkin 2-2-2-6 512meg pc3200 ddr. The computer works fine when the memory is in normal mode. But when you want dual channel, everything goes haywire. The computer reboots over and over. I have tried changing the voltage, and changing the memory timings, but nothing seems to work. Does this mobo hate Mushkin memory? I have heard of other people running dual channel memory on this board with no problems, but I have a bucketful. This board only has voltage settings for memory in the bios of 1.5, 1.6, and 1.7. This memory chooses 1.7 when I put it in auto mode. Could it be the modules are not getting enough juice? Any ideas?

Last night I was trying to find some kind of a solution to the America's Army critical error problem(yeah, got that too). I went to disable fast writes within the Smart Gart utility, and when I went for a reboot, my computer went into a reboot loop very similar to the one I got when I first tried to run these 2 sticks of memory in dual channel. It took a while to get the computer to stop it. At this point, I starting believing my problem was not a hardware problem. When I finally got the computer to boot into xp and stay fairly stable, I first ran checkdisk and had it repair any damage. I updated my video drivers from 4.7 cats to 4.8. I updated my bios, as a new revision just came out not too long ago. I reinstalled directx 9.0b. I reinstalled my chipset drivers as a precautionary measure. I then checked both memory controllers using one stick at a time, and both memory controllers checked out. Yes, I am using 2 sticks of 512 meg memory each. I then put one stick in slot one and the other in slot 3 to try for dual channel again. The computer booted up normally, did not reboot, and ran stable. I then ran 3DMARK 2003 and 2001SE, and posted new high scores in both. I am not sure exactly which action I performed was the one that fixed the problem, but the shotgun blast worked. I appreciate all the help everyone gave me.

    Looking at 16GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233143
Anyone using a great 8 or 12 GB set up, And pushing 1600-2000Mhz? for Speeds? thx

Corsair makes great memory.  I've been using a similar set on my X58 system.  I'm a little surprised that they don't have anything with better timing specs than 9-9-9-24 in a 4x4 kit.
If you are building a gaming system you might want to consider going with 8 gig of RAM with 7-8-7-20 timing.  You will almost certainly get better in-game performance going that way.  There are extremely few applications that can take advantage of more than 2 gig of RAM such as large database systems, CAD, etc. There are a very small number of 32 but apps that can access 4 gig (IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE) but no games I am aware of.  It's primarily native 64 bit applications designed and developed for a 64 bit OS that can realistically take advantage of memory above 2 gig.

  • Kingston ValuRAM DDR400 runs only 333Mhz in Dual Channel, why?(865PE Neo2-LS)

    Hi!
I have a problem. I've installed two DDR400 Ram moduls in my 865PE Neo2-LS motherboard and the memory runs only at 333Mhz. I cannot change the DDR clock, it always shows 333. What can i do to make my memories run at 400Mhz?
KINGSTON VALUE RAM PC3200 512MB CL 2.5 and KINGSTON VALUE RAM PC3200 512MB CL 3.0. The different CL value is the problem? According MSI my motherboard supports DDR400 Dual Channel.

SONY CDROM x52, SB PCI128, MACRON 400W, COOLER MASTER Aero4 Lite, WINDOWS XP Professional, cup of tea.
    Please,anybody help me!

    B.Tomas,
One more thing I forgot to mention and I am not sure if you have done it already is I did up my memory voltage to 2.7 to get it to run without any errors
As Serious states you must use a " Dual Channel" kit. I tried to run "DualChannel" with two sticks that were exactly the same specs{or so I thought} but bought at different times and I had nothing but trouble.
I did update my bios but only because I am running a Prescott I am not sure if this has anything to do with why my memory is working.

  • MSI P67A-G45 (B3) Two DIM slots problem.

Hi, I just bought all my parts for my new computer. Everything is working fine, except that I have some problem with two of my DIM slots. When I insert my RAM into the slots on the right side (near CD-ROM) the PC reboots each 3 second. Do you know what may cause the problem? Is it the slot problem or something with the BIOS settings?

But I can normally boot into the Windows, if it would be the CPU problem then I guess the pc wont boot. I will check it just to make sure and I will post the result.
It has been seen here on the forum a number of times that the system will run with bent or broken CPU socket pins. As suggested, if not done so yet, remove the CPU & inspect the CPU socket for bent pins.

  • Does MSI P67A-C45 supports the latest Sandy bridge Celeron (G530,540 etc)

    Hello all,
Firstly, I'm the new user here, and I found this forum when I'm in the process of 'googleing' for my new system problems...
Okay, I'm the 'proud' user of MSI P67A-C45 motherboard and due to some sort of fund problems, I just bought this mobo and use the lowest end Sandy Bridge line processor, which is Celeron G540 processor. After getting the enough money somewhere around March next year, I will straightly change my processor to Core i5-2500K (which I assume it will be more cheaper than now)... After installing everything on my new rig, suddenly there are no BIOS shown up at all. The power is available, all of the LED's as well as my heat sink fan are running finely. I'm suspecting that this kind of mobo does not support Celeron G540 processor... So how? Anyone here can help me to resolve this problems... It really ruined my day and now I'm typing this on my netbook which irritating.... Some of my friends said that it must be BIOS related problems... because Celeron is just launched recently and perhaps the BIOS bundled with my motherboard are the older one..... Below is my full rig specification...
Processor : Intel Celeron G540 Processor
    Motherboard : MSI P67A-C45 (B3)
RAM : Corsair Value RAM 8GB DDR3 1333MHz (two sticks of 4GB RAM each)
    GPU : Sapphire HD6750

You have BIOS 1.9 which should support all of the CPU's you mentioned.
Have you plugged in the 4 pin CPU power (JPWR2) on MB & 6 pin to video card PCIe power plugs?
Yes, I already connected 4-pin cpu power as well as 6-pin PCIe power connector both to my motherboard and graphic card, but the system still refuse to shown up the POST screen... :(  BTW, I already change the processor from Celeron G540 to Core i3 2100... Waiting for the stock available from the seller...

  • How to connect dual channel ram on a msi 865pe neo-2 plat.edition ?

    hi....
can any one tell me how to connect the RAM as dual channel on the MSI 865PE Neo-2 p Platinum Edition ?
i did like what is written in the manual but nothing happened it only works as a single channel....
    the RAm is 2x512 spectek DDR400 PC3200....
    pls help me.............

    Franknputer is right.
All systems that I build for my gamers runs in Dual Channel and the combo is 1 + 3 or 2 + 4 or 1 + 2 + 3 + 4. 1 x RAM in Channel A and 1 x RAM in Channel B minimum will give your Dual Channel Linear Mode message during startup and you know that you are running Dual Channel.
Next, it is always recommended to have the same make and model and capacity of the RAMs if you want to run in Dual Channel.

  • MSI P67A-GD53 (B3) - BSOD if 2 sticks of DRAM used in dual mode

    Hi there,
I have an issue with BSOD when using 2 sticks of DRAM when the machine is overclocked or the DRAM is set to 1333MHZ and above.
Initially I got the system up and running and over clocked using the OC Genie button on the mother board over clocking to 4.3GHZ which ran great but after a day or 2 I got
BSOD. Initially I thought this was due to an SSD failure so I brought another OCZ AGILITY 3 SSD and reinstalled windows 7 and again after a few days I got BSOD.
This time however I ran memtest at bootup and saw errors appearing. I tested each DRAM stick separately and they were error free after running memtest on each for a good few hours.
When I put both RAM sticks back in dual mode the errors appeared again. I turned off OC genie and ran the same testes on the RAM with the same results.
Now in the bios I noticed that the DRAM was set to run at 1333MHZ so I changed this to 1600MHZ (the speed on the label on the DRAM itself) and ran memtest once more which through up loads of errors. So then I changed it to 1066MHZ, ran memtest and bingo! no errors!
So now I have my machine running nicely unclocked with the DRAM running at 1066MHZ.
Thing is I want to be able to overclock my machine and discover what is causing this DRAM failure.
It would appear that there is no issue with the hardware as it all works at slower speeds.
What could be causing the BSOD when the machine is overclocked or when the DRAM is running at more than 1066MHZ?
    many thanks

You do that. For the P67 boards, the earmarked slots for 2 memory modules are 1 and 3.
The applied memory voltage may be a tad too low. You can up that to 1,575 manually.
The BIOS version is the latest for Sandy Bridge processors.
Insert only one memory module in the first slot closest to the CPU. Then do a full CMOS clear with power cord removed, and retest your system again with only the one module.
If the tests are good, then add the second module.

Hi i recently built my own system, with just one ram stick in it boots fine and everything.
When i try to put the other stick in slot for so that in runs dual channel it just wont boot, it turns on starts the fans up and then just goes off, and repeats this.
The ram i have is Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit.
It also doesnt work in slots 2 and 4, can anyone help me :(?

    Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 4GB
    Seagate Barracuda 500gb HD
Gets no beeps on boot with just one stick in, im really confused :s
    All Help will be appreciated.

Both ram sticks worked in slot one and it would boot but I tried running a game and it froze each occasion, cud this be due to the ram being dual channel and only having one in? Or that the ram has the wrong settings.
I have returned the motherboard along with the ram to the shop i got it from for tests to see if the dimm slots had problems. Il let you guys know what they say.
Thanks for the advice, when I get it back il build it again and see if it runs fine, if not il try the things youve said.
Can anyone else shed any light on this? Any other things I may have to try?
    Thx again

  • MSI BIG BANG TRINERGY dual channel problem!

Hey forum, I just installed a newly bought msi big bang trinergy. Everything went according to plan except from the point where I installed the 4gb (2x2gb) ram dimms( I have the XMS3, 4gb kit by Corsair).
Let it be noted that i followed the instruction manual and installed the dimms in the proper slots. Then when the moment of truth came and powered up my pc, it wouldnt boot. It would go into an endless restart cycle without booting. Then i unplugged the dimm3 and started only using dimm1 and everything went well. I also switched the ram dimms (in case one of them was faulty) and placed it in dimm1 and again there was no problem.
My take on this situation is that there must be some hardware problem concerning DIMM3. I also run a BIOS update in hopes that something might change but no luck.
..So what is your take on this?
Thank you in advance for the advice.
P.S Since i had a P55 mobo before Big bang i read that format is not necessary so i didnt format the pc. Can that be the cause of the dual channel mal-function?

Quote from: Jack on 11-May-11, 22:57:43
    Nope.
There are a couple of explanations for the behaviour:
    1) there is a problem with the modules
    2) the memory slot itself or underlying circuits is/are defective
    3) there is a short circuit problem somewhere inside the case which basically blocks that particular memory slot
    4) the CPU (or its memory controller) is defective
    5) there is some sort of pin-contact problem [bad contacts between the board's socket pins and the contact pads of the processor], caused by bent or broken pins or by too much pressure exerted by the CPU's heatsink
I would start poking at explanation 3) by testing the board outside the case on a non-conducting surface in barebone configuration and, in case that does not change anything, go for number 5): take off the heatsink and inspect both socket pins and contact pads for any irregularities [use a magnifying glass!]
I went to a technician to check the mobo where we tried different memory modules and cpu (100% working ) on a bench table. The pins on the mobo were not bent or anything. We checked all the points you mentioned that needed to be checked but still the problem persisted so it was a memory slot problem. Thanks for all the help! Really appreciate it, the replaced mobo works perfectly

With the last BIOS, it states that 4GB modules may be possible, but looking at the memory test report http://www.msi.com/file/test_report/TR10_1393.pdf  it seems this was only done for DDR2 modules, as these are the only ones reflecting this.
Suggest you check with MSI technical if the BIOS should accommodate DDR3 4GB modules as well.  >>How to contact MSI.<<
Do a CMOS clear, then once in the BIOS, set your DRAM ratio so that the DRAM is at 1066. See if that works.

  • P7N SLI Platinum Unstable with over 2GB ram and/or dual channel memory on.

Hello need some help or to report something to MSI regarding blue screens, freezes when booting Vista 64 (SP1 + all fixes installed) with more then 2GB ram.  Single channel mode works (either 1 stick of 2 GB or 3 sticks of 2GB) and is rock stable.  Booting with 2 x 2 or 4 x 2 yields instability and blue screens.
I read over Microsoft's hotfix KB929777 however it appears this patch was applied during SP1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777 - when I attempted to apply this hotfix I got the message this update does not apply to your system.
Memory tested in other gaming system using 4 sticks of G.Skill 1066 DDR2 ram and still have the same issues.  Other forums like Evga.com, Tom's hardware and 411overkill.com tend to suggest some problem with this new bios version 2.0, written by Nvidia.  Some others mention possibly an Nvidia nforce driver issue.
Therefore, under duress during testing - with 1 stick or 3 sticks of ram, all tests perfect and passes all stability tests, good marks in Sandra, plays any game.  With 2 or 4 sticks of ram, very unstable won't stay up but for seconds.
Any ideas?  (Tested 7 ways until Sunday!)
My other rig, rocks solid and stable with Vista 64....  It's the Evga new mainboard 780i with triple SLI (132-CK-NF78-A1), 8gb of Gskill 1066ddr2, MSI 8800GT (x2 sli mode) Q6600 @ 3.2 ghz - Raid 0 on dual WD caviar 640 gb/sata 3.0gb/sec.  Seasonic 700w p/s.  8gb of memory and not a hiccup.  Ram 2.0 volts, cpu @ 1.36v.  Will handle the memory from both systems with out fault.
Considering I can swap memory back and forth and confirm it's not the sticks, swap graphics boards (own 3 of them!) and rule out that....
    Fyi.  Any help is appreciated!

Dump question, but have you pickup the correct update e.g. for 64bit? ==> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=91672C7C-614B-404C-850C-377541E93C18&displaylang=en
"This comes inside SP1 for vista 64, as noted with my other system during the build. "
    Better double check it.
Install all four memory sticks and do a memory check with >>Memtest86<< 1st, ensure that no error(s) will comes during testing.
    Also how about that?:

Remove your OC then see how its goes.
"When the system boots in single channel mode (only 2 or 6gb of ram meaning 1 or 3 sticks installed into the 4 slots) its' rock stable.  When it boots into dual channel mode (2 x 2 sticks or 2 x 4 sticks) extemely unstable. "
That means, timings are too tight, or they need a bit more vcore help, or some of the memory stick has failure.
    "MSI P7N SLI Platinum - MS-7380 - Bios 2.0 on Vista Ultimate 64-bit - all updated."
That BIOS is not for your board, you should use 1.xx
