MSI parameters

Hello,
i have a msi file which i want to deploy silent. I know that i have to use /qn for that.
But I have to file additional information (see picture)
How can i edit this parameter?

Hi,
You could either Orca or Instedit, http://www.instedit.com/ to open the .msi and see if there is an property that you can use on the command - line like MACHINENAME=pc1 or if you want you can create an .MST file with
that information in.

Jörgen

  • How do I disable  check for updates automatically for a silent install

Does any know what the msi parameters are to disable the check for updates automatically. I have tried the following
    autoupdatecheck 0
    ju 0
    update 0
These do not seem to work as the update tab and check and uncheck is still available
    Also
Does anyone know how to remove all old versions silently.

    hi,
in ur PBO one loop will be there...
    make one module disable there.
    PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT.
*&SPWIZARD: PBO FLOW LOGIC FOR TABLECONTROL 'MYTAB1'
      MODULE get_data.
      MODULE mytab1_change_tc_attr.
      LOOP AT   mytab
           INTO mytab
           WITH CONTROL mytab1
           CURSOR mytab1-current_line.
        MODULE disable.
        MODULE mytab1_get_lines.
      ENDLOOP.
    MODULE disable OUTPUT.
      LOOP AT SCREEN.
        IF screen-name = 'MYTAB-MATNR'.
          screen-input = 0.
        ENDIF.
        MODIFY SCREEN.
      ENDLOOP.
    ENDMODULE.                 " disable  OUTPUT
here mytab is my internal table and mytab1 is my table control name...
    reward if usefull....

Also after deploying letters are swapped. System is on D drive, and data on C drive.
    Any idea ?

    Based on the logfiles:
    SMSSITECODE=K01
    SMSMP=SCCM.kolubara.local
    you could also use DNSSUFFIX=kolubara.local

  • Using Microsoft Security Essential as Enterprise security solution and deploy via domain policy

    hi, All,
I am trying to deploy Microsoft Security Essential in a enterprise via domain policy, and met following questions ,Would anyone help?
    1. Is Microsoft Security Essential the right choice for enterprise security protection solution and if Security essential will cover enterprise security scenario in future? It seems Microsoft had Forefront Endpoint Protection as enterprise security
solution but it was deprecated.   While, Security Essential is mainly target for consumers.
    2. I can extract msi from setup.exe, but is there an official MSI version of Security Essential? Is there any document about the MSI parameters?
    3. Is there a domain policy template(admx) for Security Essential?
    4. As Security Essential has x86 and x64 versions. and it has built-in in win8. How would I make sure
x86 computers install x86 msi of security essential.
x64 computers install x64 msi of securit yessential.
win8,win8.1 computers ignore the installation request.
through  Group Policy Editor > Computer Configuration > Software Settings > Software Installation > New > Package

    Hi
You are correct, Microsoft Security Essential is not for Enterprise use.
Technical you can deploy it but its hard to manage central.
Microsoft Enterprise solution for antimalware is System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection which is included in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager.

  • MSI 970 Gaming motherbaord temperature parameters

So here is the deal I've been using MSI 970 Gaming motherboard for a couple months everything is OK except it's very annoying to measure temperature for AMD cpu and processor.  I'm using four different programs to determine the approx value for temperature.
    1. HwInfo
    2. CPUID HWmonitor
    3. MSI Command center
    4. Core Temp
Certainly reading from Hwinfo and CPUID HWmonitor is matching with MSI command center reading , so I assume that it's CPU and Motherbaord temperature , but what is the TMPIN1 in CPUID HWmonitor or CPU (green boxed) in HWinfo. I know that different board has different sensors for that purpose. So anyone can help with that confusion?

Quote from: Chike on 01-March-15, 12:49:26
3rd party software is generic and has no knowledge about which sensors are actually connected and which are not.
There is no point worrying about it. With HWiNFO it is easy to hide irrelevant sensors.
What is more disturbing is the fact that "CPU0/Package" temperature is much lower than "CPU", obviously that is not possible, or shouldn't be as the core is where the heat comes from. CPU may be 1c above due to sensors accuracy but not 30c off.
This seems to a bug/error in both HWiNFO and Core Temp (I don't see thos sensors in HWMonitor). You can direct this issue to the developers.
I know it's a common issue with AMD for lower temp reading but what is the general idea about that green boxed reading? is it socket or northbridge? Certainly two of them are matching with MSI command center reading so i guess MOTHERBOARD is MOTHERBOARD and CPU is CPU but there is a confusion with that middle value.

  • New system, MSI X800XT PCI-E Issues

    Hi there!
I just bought a new motherboard, new ram, new cpu and new videocard and was eagerly wanting to set this stuff up.
My system is now as follows:
    Motherboard: MSI 925X Neo-54G
    CPU: P4 3.40Ghz (1 Mb L2 Cache) (Socket 775)
    RAM: 1 GByte DDR2 533
    Video Card: MSI RX800 XT-VTD256 (ATI Radeon X800XT PCI-E)
I put everything up and working and installed Windows XP w/ SP2. Installed every driver needed from the motherboard CD, went to ATI's site and downloaded the latest Catalyst Drivers, etc.
After having everything apparently working as it should, I downloaded 3dMark 2005 to see how it went. I had never used the 2005 version before so I wasn't too shocked to see it only got like 3200 points although I was kinda suspicious after seeing some of the tests going at like 1 fps.
I went back to another PC I have at home (a socket 478, P4 3.0Ghz, Asus P4C800 mobo, 1 GByte DDR400 Ram and a GeForce 6800 Ultra). Ran 3dMark 2005 and to my amazement, it got like 4400 points.
Well, double checked everything on the catalyst control panel (nothing really useful there)... then went back to the BIOS setup to investigate what is not working as it should. MSI boards have that nifty Dynamic Overclocking thing and so I turned it on. My BIOS settings are now as following (only listing settings I have doubts on):
DDR2 533 (Dual Channel Mode Enabled)
    DRAM Timing Selectable: By SPD
    Memory Hole: Disabled
PCI Express Root Port Func: Auto on all 4 ports
    PCI-E Compliance Mode: v1.0a
    DRAM Data integrity mode: Non-ECC
    PCI IDE Busmaster: Enabled (I have a 250GB 8MB SATA HD,fyi)
    Init Display First: PCI-E
    Maximum Payload Size (PCI-E): 4096
High performance mode: Optimized (Manual is the other option)
    Dynamic Overclocking: 5% (0-15% range)
    Adjust DDR Frequency: Auto
    Auto Detect PCI Clock: Enabled
    Spread Spectrum: Disabled
    CPU Clock: 200Mhz
    CPU Voltage: By CPU default
    Memory Voltage: 1.8v
    AGP/PCI-E Voltage: 1.5v
Ok, so, can anyone tell me what is wrong (if anything)? I mean, I think this PC should be faster than my other one...
I'm not really interested in overclocking and I am really convinced this hardware should be able to beat my other one easily with default operating status.
Also, I tested this PC's performance with Rome: Total War and it is just as 3dMark had showed, it performs worse than the other pc I mentioned, with the same exact settings.
    Any help please?
    Regards!

Try again with Vista 32bit, 64bit is highly unstable and only a few have it running stable.
I've been running Vista x64 for the past nine months, and now with my K9A2 P--and have had no problems.  I mean, none.  Have not had any occasion to even consider reinstalling Vista x32. Vista x64 has been stable as a rock for me consistently since I installed it.  Would not consider going back to XP under any circumstances.
There is a problem with Beard0's system that I would say boils down to device drivers or faulty hardware or some combination thereof.  His experience is dramatically different from my own, and the problems he's having are not indicative of my experience with Vista, whether x86 or x64.

  • APEX Application URL doesnt recognize parameters (Doesnt work consistently)

    Hello,
I have developed an application which I have published in company's intranet website. There are several links published for same application with different parameters. We are facing issues in publishing parameterized URLs as application is not recongizing the parameter values passed (in internet explorer it doesnt recognize at all, but in mozilla, once redirected if we again select address bar and press Enter it does recongize the parameter without changing URL).
E.g. I have hyperlink in intranet with
    http://msi-pa-637.marvell.com:7777/pls/htmldb/f?p=111:101:0::NO::P101_PROJECT_INSTANCE:PRJ3
After clicking on the link it does open application, but report with complete data. now in Mozilla if I select address bar and press enter, it refreshes and does retrieve report with desired parameter. Do you have any clue why it doesnt do in first place? (in internet explorer, this work around doesnt help until you manually change the parameter from PRJ3 to PRJ2 and press enter).
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Prashant

Thanks Vikas for helping me to figure out myself.
    The debug feature really helped!
My application was having computation on same item that was getting defaulted on new instance. I made that computation conditional and now it works!
    Thanks a lot!

  • Stability issues: MSI ATI Radeon HD 6970 2048MB Twin Frozr III

Evening all, been having some issues with my recently purchased MSI card. I'm inclined to think there is damage/issues with the video memory on the card.
I did some quick research on the card and it seems that the model i have was originally a reference version of the 6970 Lightning which was given a factory go-over and re-branded. This may account for the heatsink/fan assembly being loose, some scratches on some of the surfaces and dust build up on the rear of the card.
I have had the card in my rig for over a week now and stability has been an issue through this period. After reading a few threads online I set a custom fan graph using MSI Afterburner and regularly monitor GPU temps. DxDiag shows the card to have 1774MB Approx total memory, which i find worrying given the card specs state it should read 2048BM.
The driver crashes occur both when the card is idle and under load with no obvious cause. The GPU clock is stock 880Mhz and i have lowered the memory clock to 1300 (stock: 1375) in an attempt to improve stability, so far this has shown some success.
Can anyone give me some advice as to if this is likely a hardware issue or driver based? Also any recommendations on how to improve stability other than getting a new card (i have no more money to spend on replacement parts).
    Thank you for your time

driver crashes means BSOD? if yes, this hapends during what?
have you tried to load BIOS optimized defaults?
do you use MSI vga drivers for your video card?
is your computer stable if you use another video card?
    To answer in order:
No BSOD, the display locks up, audio continues to play, both screens flash to blank black then the UI returns and windows 7 reports "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
I have not loaded BIOS optimized defaults that i am aware of.
I am currently using ATI drivers sourced from the ATI site.
Machine is stable when using integrated GFX or an Nvidia 470GTX (with corresponding drivers).

  • Date type parameters do not work package procedure

a cordial greeting to the whole community, in advance thank you very much for your precious time
a general way I have the following, a package in which I have a main procedure which I recible three parameters: a start date, a final, and a number of client
to use the dates I enter as parameter to query yields no records, but if I assign the date internally in the procedure, if it sheds records, the strange thing is that both the data and the parameters that are identical internally assigned even in its length and I checked, the truth and I stay out of ideas thank you very much for your time attaching the code
for now I'm just using the second query forget the first

Welcome.  As a note, this question has nothing to do with PL/SQL XML programming and everything to do with SQL and PL/SQL
That said, the simple test case I setup, because I don't have all your tables, works just fine.
    declare
       l_errcode  VARCHAR2(300);
       l_errbuff  VARCHAR2(300);
       PROCEDURE xxxinitial_end (ERRCODE OUT VARCHAR2
         , ERRBUFF OUT VARCHAR2
         , p_initial_date IN VARCHAR2  -- why not a date?
         , p_end_date IN VARCHAR2      -- why not a date?
         , customer IN VARCHAR2)
       IS
         initial_date DATE;
         end_date DATE;
         l_value  VARCHAR2(10);
       BEGIN
         initial_date := to_date(p_initial_date, 'YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS');
         end_date := to_date(p_end_date, 'YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS');

           FROM dual
          WHERE SYSDATE BETWEEN initial_date AND end_date;

As a comment above says, if you are dealing with dates, why not use a DATE parameter in the procedure and avoid the conversion in your code.
Also, you can simplify your code a bit by using a third sys_refcursor and setting one of the opened cursors to it.  This allows you to pull out the common logic following the OPEN and only have one copy of it.

  • IOMMU explanation of kernel parameters

    Hello!
I've set up an HTPC with an AMD A4-5300 CPU, A75 (Hudson-D3) chipset and a PCIe sound card (Asus Xonar DX). Whenever I tried to get a sound out of it (e.g. aplay blubb.wav) I only got dozens of these messages in the kernel log:
    [ 46.215678] AMD-Vi: Event logged [IO_PAGE_FAULT device=02:00.0 domain=0x0000 address=0x0000000000100000 flags=0x0050]
The messages appeared only on the first aplay command. When the program finished and I ran it again, I got no additional messages but sadly also no sound.
Spending two evenings on this problem with google I found out it might be some trouble with IOMMU features of the processor or mainboard. So after trying out several of the options, I found iommu=soft in the kernel parameters got the sound to work fine. I have the possible options from here: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentatio … ptions.txt
But I don't really understand what's the matter with this IOMMU thing. It seems like a memory management for I/O Components and seems related to DMA access. But what does the IOMMU do? Which side effects come with these options? I understand the "soft" option in that way, that some features present in hardware are now managed in software. "can be used to prevent the of an available hardware IOMMU" sounds even worse since the option might completely disable the hardware feature. But is this really bad? I mean with the option I finally have good quality audio output but for what price? Can I expect disadvantages from this setting? Since I'm not really into all this kernel and hardware stuff, this all seems so confusing. Or is it possible that the error causing the above message has a totally different source and it's just luck that the option kind of worked around it?
Can anyone here maybe explain even a little bit about the IOMMU and what might have caused these problems?
I opened a thread in the multimedia section here where I asked for help to get audio output but no one replied. So I think the people living over there are also not familiar with the topic. And since I found kind of a workaround which is hardware related I hope it is ok to open this other thread to maybe get some explanation about what I have really done there...

    Thanks for the detailed explanation!
But isn't the GART something Video Card related? Or is it that what you mean with "abusing" the GART?
So when I set "iommu=soft" the IOMMU basically gets disabled? Quoting the file about the boot options, it says:
    3. <arch/x86_64/kernel/pci-swiotlb.c> : Software IOMMU implementation. Used
e.g. if there is no hardware IOMMU in the system and it is need because
you have >3GB memory or told the kernel to us it (iommu=soft))
Kernel boot message: "PCI-DMA: Using software bounce buffering
          for IO (SWIOTLB)"
What I don't fully understand... Is the IOMMU actually a CPU feature or is it on the mainboard's hand? For what I read, the A-Processors from AMD are IOMMU supported, so my setup should work with it. Or could it be my mainboard not having correct support for it? (MSI FM2-A75IA-E53)
For testing, I disabled the IOMMU switch in GRUB, dmesg shows the kernel already automatically chooses software buffering. ("[    0.654086] PCI-DMA: Using software bounce buffering for IO (SWIOTLB)") but then I get those tons of AMD-Vi messages. When I set the IOMMU to force software buffering, I have not a single problem. The entry in dmesg also tells it is using software bounce buffering. But shouldn't there be no difference if the kernel chooses the software option or if I force it to do so?

  • 1 month old MSI 560TI twinfrozrII 880/OC artifacts in multiple games (long)

I have had this computer for about 8 months and had to RMA my first card because it would artifact after being on for 3 days requiring a cold boot (a known problem that affects some 500 series cards from different manufaturers)
This new one lasted a month (I shut down every night now) before I started to get artifacts (these ones are different then the other ones though) and they only affect CERTAIN portions of games and not others ... for example a wall that flickers will always flicker and a wall that never flickers will never flicker... they are kind of rare in Everquest / Persona 4 but artifacting is common in BFBC2 and dead island to the point of making things unplayable in certain portions.
I have tried 275.33 and 280.26 without any noticeable difference
here are a ton of examples:
(Everquest - Wall flickering based on viewing angle)
(Persona 4 emulated w/ original disk -- retaining wall flickering)
(Persona 4 emulated -- misc flickering near the Barber Shop, Liquor store, shrine)
(Persona 4 emulated -- flickering pipe)
(Persona 4 emulated -- fridge wall flicker)
(everquest classic -- flickering character models belt, bracers and sometimes head ... goes and comes and is worse in some zones)
( bad company 2 -- flickering strip in the distance reminiscent of everquest and persona artifacts)
(bad company 2 -- flickering shed wall and some shadows flicker)
(bad company 2 -- weird shadow line that stops drawing (LOD?)
(bad company 2 -- near and medium distance lod popping at same time -- most likely game engine?)
(bad company 2 -- LOD pop in and general ugliness, never noticed this before)
(bad company 2 -- another poor place for shadow rendeing that gets cut off with a very visable line 25 feet infront of me)
(bad company 2 -- weird texture flicker on destroyed building in addition to some lod pop in on other building)

apply vga reference clocks then retest
    Thanks for the reply Svet.
I assume you mean to use MSI afterburner and put the clocks at the default for 560 TI which are the following based on my googling?
    MY card currently:
VDDC .9500V-1.000V (depending on 3d load and according to GPU-Z)
GPU clock: 880 MHz (the "sensors" tab reports this as 882.3 for some reason)
    Shader clock: 1760MHz
    Memory clock: 1050MHz
what you want me to change them to:
VDDC 1.0000 (which is default for this card IIRC I haven't unlocked voltage controls yet to check)
    GPU clock: 822MHz
    Shader Clock: 1644MHz
    Memory: 1002MHz

  • MSI installer closes with error 1327, Invalid drive on Win 7 Ultimate when My Documents is moved to a network drive

I have several computers with Windows 7 Ultimate installed here at the Pioneer Library System. We have ~20 workstations running XP Pro on a Active Directory domain and are planning on rolling out Windows 7 this fall. I am running Windows 7 to test our programs
(have since RC1) but I am running into an issue when installing software.
The problem I am running into is that when I try to install any program that uses the MSI installer on Windows 7 , it fails with a 1327 error at the point where it is preparing to install and says "Invalid Drive H:\".
All the users in our domain have the "Home Folder" on their active directory profile set to
H:\ (which is mapped to \\PrimaryDC\user$ in the same place). We have also moved the
C:\Users\user\Documents folder to H:\ so as to keep all documents on the server where they get backed up regularly.
If I move "Documents" back to C:\Users\user\Documents the MSI installer works fine. When I look into the registry as suggested in
this thread I found that in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders " and in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders " the key "Personal" points to "H:\".
But, H:\ is a valid connected network drive. Installing from the same account on an XP computer with
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents moved to the H:\ drive works fine.
I have tried setting up another 7 machine and get exactly the same results on it.
Is there a workaround for this besides creating a admin account that does not have Documents mapped to the network drive
H:\ to use for installing programs?
    Thanks
    Aaron Z
    PLS

I do not have the option with some of these files to pass parameters to the MSI installer. For example, if I download the Acrobat Reader installer from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe and run AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe
it extracts the MSI file to C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files and then runs it.
To reproduce this an a Windows 7 computer (does not have to be on a domain):
    Prep Work:
    Create a user (test1)
Create a folder on the root of C (C:\Test)
Set permissions on C:\Test to allow the test1 user to have full access to it
Share the C:\Test folder as test1 (again, set the permissions to allow the test1 user full access)
Set the "Home Folder" for the test1 user connect to Z: and point that to \\127.0.0.1\test1
    Login as test1
Check that you have Z:\ mapped and that it works
    Check that it works:
Install Acrobat Reader 9.3 from the link above
    Note that it works
Uninstall Acrobat Reader 9.3 using "Programs and Features"
    Break it:
    Login as test1
Check that you have Z:\ mapped and that it works
    Go to C:\Users\test1
Right  click on the Documents folder and click on properties
    Click on the Location tab
Click on "Browse" and select the Z drive
Allow Windows to move the files to the new location
    Check that it is broken:
Check that you have access to the new Documents folder at Z:\
Install Acrobat Reader 9.3 from the link above
Note that it extracts itself to C:\Users\test1\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files
and runs the MSI installer from there
Note that after the MSI installer is started it pops up an error saying Error: 1327, Invalid drive Z:\.
I also see this with various other install programs (VMWare vSphere Client, VMWare Player and Kaspersky Antivirus for example)
Is there any reason why this should not work? Is there something that I should be doing differently?
    Thanks
    Aaron Z

  • MSI P965 Platinum, system won't boot only when ICH8R is in RAID

So I couldn't get my system to boot properly when I have the ICH8R in RAID 1 mode.
I have the boot drive on a single, non-raid Wester Digital 250gb Cavair HD on the ICH8R.
Installed XP Pro SP2 with the ICH8R in IDE mode.  I installed in IDE mode beceause I was unable to install XP on my single drive when ICH8R was in RAID mode.  I installed XP in IDE mode, did all driver updates, then put the ICH8R into RAID 1 mode for my other data drives and the system will post, start to boot and get to the Windows XP boot screen then the system just restarts before the boot completes.  It does it in normal boot mode and safe mode as well.
With the ICH8R in IDE mode everything boots/runs fine.
The problem is, I need the 6 SATA RAID controllers on the ICH8R as I have 3 RAID1 arrays.
I've done all the updates to windows, motherboard bios, Highpoint RocketRaid bios update, tried every mode on the ICH8R, unplugged the Highpoint Rocket Raid, left it plugged in with no drives plugged in, disabled the Jmicron controller, everything I can think of.
    Any help would be appreciated.
I did not do the windows floppy driver install for the ICH8R when I installed XP, but I have not had to do that in the past with the ICH7 on my old motherboard so I assumed I wouldn't here as I've been told it's just if you are installing windows on a RAID.
    System:
    MSI P965  Platinum
Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 CPU
    (4) 1gb OCZ Gamer Extreme DDR2 PC6400 RAM
    Windows XP SP2
High Point Rocket RAID 2300 PCI Express x1 RAID card
Asus nVIDIA GS7300 PCI Express Video card
    Drives on ICH8R Controller:
Boot Drive: WD Cavair 250gb SATA2
DVD: Some sony 16x DVD - SATA
RAID1: (2) Seagate Barracuda 320gb SATA2 HD's (setup on previous motherboard on Intel ICH7 Controller)
    (2) Seagate Barracuda 500gb SATA2 HD's
High Point Rocket RAID 2300 Controller:
    (2) Seagate Barracuda 500gb SATA2 HD's

The problem that you are having has nothing to do with your mainboard.
Once you decide to install Windows XP SP2 when the ICH8R controller is in IDE mode, Windows will give you a bluescreen once you switch to RAID mode after the installation is done because it is to stupid to change to the proper driver.  Consider this as normal behaviour.
    You have basically three possibilities:
    1. Reinstall XP with integrated SP2 and integrate the Intel ICH8R RAID drivers using a floppy disk
The latest drivers can be found here.
As I understand, you have already tried that.  I if you don't feel like trying this again, have a look at this:
    2. Slipstream Intel ICH8R SATA RAID drivers using NLITE or XP ISO BUILDER and try to install again with a self-made install CD that already includes the proper drivers (no floppy needed)
Use google to find one of the tools I mentioned.  The procedure is free, perfectly legal and easy to do.  Guides for this can be found all over the internet
    3. Switching to RAID mode without having to re-install Windows XP
If you are still using your existing installation, that was done when the controller was in IDE mode, the follwing trick may work for you.
I posted a little guide on how to switch from IDE to AHCI mode without having to re-install XP.  Have a look at the guide.  The procedure is essentially the same for RAID.  The only difference is the content of the REG-File that you have to make.
Guide: HOW TO switch from IDE to AHCI mode without having to reinstall Win XP (GUIDE)
Use the following content for the REG file instead of the one I put up in the above thread:
    Quote

    "Count"=dword:00000001
    "NextInstance"=dword:00000001
The procedure works perfectly well in most cases (but not always).
I hope one of these three "methods" will work for you.

I'm not an MSI representative but, I asked MSI UK the same sort of question when asking them whether or not they'd void the warranty if I were to upgrade the RAM in my laptop. There is a large "warranty void if removed" sticker on one of the screws, they said they honor their warranty regardless of opening the laptop as long as I didn't damage it in any way.
The same may apply to you, but I'd speak to a local MSI representative first just to be safe.
