Msi progress using Microsoft.Deployment.WindowsInstaller.

Hi Everyone,
In Windows application,  install msi in silent mode using Microsoft.Deployment.WindowsInstaller namespace in
button click event.
            string msiPackage = @"D:\MSI\feb20\Sample.msi";
            Installer.SetInternalUI(InstallUIOptions.Silent);
            Installer.InstallProduct(msiPackage, "REBOOT=R");
When click button then msi install
successfully and everything is working fine. So is it possible to "catch" progress
using Microsoft.Deployment.WindowsInstaller namespace  and update a progressbar on my app?
So, is it possibile? Is there something we can do in C# or is it a very hard task that requires a lot of knowledge I don't have?
Please help me regarding this.

Hi
Cheranarasu,
After do some research.  there is a command-line options named
Msiexec.exe. It's pretty useful to run msiexec with proper arguments to accomplish this task.
Like the following cmd
msiexec /i A:\Example.msi
To use the administrative installation option
In C#, we can use
ProcessStartInfo Class to start.
You can add flags to the MSIEXEC to control what type of installation you want -- such as whether it is silent, whether it displays a progress bar, whether UI is included, etc.
For more detailed information, please refer to some similar threads as below.
Progress bar on installing an external msi
MsiExec progress catch
How to interactive a silently installing msi? (Progress data and cancel it)
You'll get more inspirations.
Best regards,
Kristin

  • Update win of windows 7 use Microsoft Deployment Toolkit.

    Hi all !
    I have computers run winodows 7 join domain. Because security, I have disconnected internet of computer run windows 7 , never.
    But, I want to automatic update win for windows 7. Can i  use Microsoft Deployment Toolkit to do it ?
    So, Can you help me ?
    Thanks and best regards .

    The MDT ZTIWindowsUpdate.wsf script can automatically update your client machine. However it will require network access to update. BY default it will connect to the MIcrosoft Windows UPdate servers, or you can redirect the client machine to go to a local
    WSUS (WIndows Server Update Services) Machine.
    If you do not want to support any network access, you can manually add all updates as applications and install them manually via ZTIApplications.wsf

    http://mdtguy.wordpress.com/2013/08/27/how-to-deploy-adobe-reader-xi-msi-with-mdt-2012/
    When I test my deployment it fails with MDT error 1624.  Accroding to Microsoft:
    ERROR_INSTALL_TRANSFORM_FAILURE                1624     Error applying transforms. Verify that                               the specified transform paths are valid.
    Which I have verfied.
    Is there a .msi file that I can edit rather than have to create on using the Customization Wizrd XI?
    I know this is off subject, but what do I edit in the flash player .msi file not to install mcafee?

    You can download the Adobe Reader MSI installers from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/
    The Flash Player MSI files (like the Adobe Reader MSI) do not contains any bundled 3rd-party software.

  • Deploy Symantec certificate profiles to mobile devices using Microsoft Intune to manage company resources like WiFi

    We are planning to deploy Symantec certificate profiles to Mobile devices to manage company resource like WiFi. I've seen documentation on Technet and the post here http://ronnydejong.com/2014/12/15/part-1-deploy-certificates-to-mobile-devices-using-microsoft-intune-ndes-overview/ that
    we need to install Intune NDES connector which needs to be installed on NDES server. These docs are true when we are using Microsoft PKI.
    Here, we're planning to use Symantec cloud PKI to deploy the certificates to mobile devices. So, I would like to know which are the required on-premises components ? NPS, NDES  or something else? Any documentation URL would be helpful ;) We're in planning
    face hence the question in the forum.

    Thank you Jason for the reply !
    Sorry for stupid questions !
    Does that mean, NDES is needed only for initial enrollment process of a mobile device? We don't need it deploying Symantec certificate profiles to manage company resources like WiFi VPN etc... Or I'm totally lost here?
    My understanding is : Mobile devices will get enrolled to Intune and that device will become a managed device. Now, the mobile device needs to get a connectivity to company resources like VPN or WiFi and for the we may need to deploy certificate profiles.
    Isn't it ? So, you were saying for this process we don't need to have NDES. (or I'm wrong here as well).
    If so, we'll be deploying a public certificate to all the devices via certificate profile deployment and the devices need to get connected with issuing authority to get a device specific private key before connecting to WiFi or VPN?

  • Installing Adobe AIR Apps using Microsoft SMS

    I am a developer working on an AIR application which will be
    pushed out using Microsoft's SMS. According to Adobe's "AIR Admin
    Guide" documentation, it is possible to "Silently install the Adobe
    AIR runtime using tools such as Microsoft SMS, IBM Tivoli, or any
    deployment tool that allows silent installations that use a
    bootstrapper". The IT admin overseeing the installation says that
    he has examined SMS 2003 and SES 2007 and there are only options
    for MSI’s and EXE. How can .AIR applications be pushed out
    for installation through SMS?
    Thanks!

    Via an .exe that we provide when you sign for a
    redistribution license. (The license is free but required for this
    scenario.) See

  • Implementing SSO using Microsoft IIS with OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2

    We are running OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2 on Windows 2003 server and want to impement Single-Sign-On (SSO) using Microsoft IIS. We set up the SSO according to chapter #8 of the deployment guide but it doesn't work :when opening the web login pages of the OBI application it still ask the user for authentication.
    Also, according to the installation guide the SSO feature is deployed when chosing "Advanced installation type" during the installation. This advanced installation type requires the Oracle Application server. We have not installed Oracle Application server in our environment, and we chose "Basic" installation.
    Is the SSO functionality available without Oracle Application server? What are the steps to setup SSO in our environment?

    Hi,
    I'm experiencing the same issue with IIS. Did you find any resolution in the meanwhile?
    Please let me know...
    Thanks a lot,

    I have another kind of problem with Firefox
    == Description

    In migrating from an XP PC to a new Win 7 PC, I downloaded Firefox to the new PC and it worked fine - got my Gmail contacts, calendar, etc. Later I used Micros Soft's Windows Easy Transfer to move data, profiles, etc to the new PC. Then could log onto Gmail but it would not show Contacts or Calendar. I then uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it - nohelp, then I did a system to Restore to before I did the Windows Easy Transfer - no help, then I manually moved my Firefox Profile from the XP machine - no help. BTW at least one other website does not display correctly: http://www.hollandamerica.com/main/Main.action. NOTE - through all this Internet Explorer has shown these sites correctly.

  • "dtutil", how to tell which configuration file for packages using after deployment?

    Hello All,
    Trying to achieve this feature,
    Using DOS command to automatic my deployment process--glad I found dtutil. However, it doesnt give you any chance to identify which configuration file to be used by SSIS packages after deployment.
    Deployment Method: file deployment
    Configuration sued: XML file and SQL Table. IN XML file, it tells which DB connection for packages to look up the configuration table.
    Who can share some thoughts on this?
    Derek

    It is NOT about sequence.
    It is about how to point which configuration file to be used by deployed packages as during the "dtutil.exe"
    deployment, you dont have chance to identify which physical location confg files to be used.
    Derek
    That you do only at the time of execution of packages. By default it uses configuration settings created at design time within the package. If you want to override it, you can use \Configfile switch of dtexec for that. You can also set explicit values for
    properties using /SET switch

  • How to create PBR functionality using WDS deployment

    Dear sir/madam,
    We are a Dutch OEM currently working on deployment and DIS. I have a question about deployment I’m hoping you can help us with.
    We were tought to deploy images via USB using the following script:
    dism /Apply-Image /ImageFile:%1 /Index:1 /ApplyDir:W:\
    md T:\Recovery\WindowsRE
    attrib -h -a -s W:\windows\system32\recovery\winre.wim
    copy W:\windows\system32\recovery\winre.wim T:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim
    W:\Windows\System32\bcdboot W:\Windows /s S:
    W:\Windows\System32\reagentc /setreimage /path T:\Recovery\WindowsRE /target W:\Windows
    Mkdir R:\RecoveryImage
    Copy %2 R:\RecoveryImage\
    W:\Windows\System32\reagentc /setosimage /path R:\RecoveryImage /target W:\Windows /index 1
    This works perfectly for single systems. However, since we’re planning on building a lot of units we want to automate installation over network. We’re building a solution to deploy custom images on tablets, laptops and desktops based on
    WDS. We currently have a working MS Server 2012 WDS server and several working custom images. The question we have is regarding the system recovery functions (PBR). I’ve managed to automate login to WDS, language choice and disk partitioning using WDSunattend
    (see below). WinRE and Recovery Image partitions are created. We can manually select the image we want to deploy and it will successfully install to the Windows partition.

    Here’s the problem: I can’t find any information on creating PBR functionality using unattend anywhere. Is this possible? If it is, can you help us find a solution?
    Since I can’t find any info on creating PBR using unattend I’m assuming that we have to add PBR functionality using scripts after Windows setup is completed. How do we get this done using WDS?
    With kind regards,
    Frank Wessels.

    Hi,
    We could use deploymenr scripts to configure the recovery partitions:

  • MICROSOFT DEPLOYMENT TOOLKIT 2013 DO I NEED LICENSE TO INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE IN MY COMPUTER

    TO INSTALL MICROSOFT DEPLOYMENT TOOLKIT 2013  DO I NEED ANY MICROSOFT LICENSE,
    I HAVE WINDOWS 7 & 2008 R2 LICENSES.
    Many Thanks & Best Regards, K.SURESH

    Hello Suresh,
    MDT 2013, itself, doesn't require any license to install (apart from your OS license). Please see the below link:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=40796
    if you plan to use MS System Center ZTI for deployment, then you would require a licensed system center installation (along with a licesnsed back end SQL installation). However, MDT won't require any license.
    Hope that answers you query. Please mark this as answer if it answers your query. Please upvote.

  • Steps to deploy Lync for users who own Office 365 E1/E2 licenses, but don't have Office 365 E3, using Office Deployment tool.

    After many hours of debugging with Microsoft support the system to install the Lync Client silently can be done with a SINGLE LINE command.  The steps to take are below. It should be an easy next step to put this as GPO installation since
    it is a simple command.
    Comments appreciated.
    side question: Why is there no Lync 2013 or Lync Office 365 forum?
    Basic steps to deploy Lync for users who own Office 365 E2 licenses, but don’t have Office 365 E3, using Office Deployment tool.
    This also applies for other Office 365 service types where the full office suite download is not included.  In April 2015 This was impossible to find online and not know by the Lync support team.
    Steps are:
    Download the Office deployment tool from
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=36778 and extract it to a folder. For this
    example we will use the \\server\sharename
    location.
    Extracting it creates a setup.exe file and it show a sample XML file.
    2. Create XML file and give it a name such as LyncEntryRetail.xml
    Note: The key is the productID that has to be the “LyncEntryRetail”. Other product IDs will download a version that needs another office 365 license. The productID “LyncRetail” needs an E3 license of Office 365.
    <Configuration>
      <Add SourcePath="\\server\sharename" OfficeClientEdition="32" >
        <Product ID="LyncEntryRetail">
          <Language ID="en-us" />
        </Product>
      </Add>
    </Configuration>
    3. From the folder where you extracted the Office deployment tool, run the following command on the command prompt to download the source files and store them on the shared drive:
     (on single line)
    Setup.exe /download LyncEntryRetail.xml
    (This is the name of the XML file created above)
    One can also run the same on a server share by using UNC path names such as  (on single line)
    \\servername\sharename\Setup.exe /download
    \\servername\sharename\LyncEntryRetail.xml
    (This is the name of the XML file created above)
    4. Run the following command on the command prompt on a machine where you want to install the software: (on single line)
    \\servername\sharename\Setup.exe /configure
    \\servername\sharename\LyncEntryRetail.xml
    (This is the name of the XML file created above)
    Once you are comfortable that it all works, you may want to edit the XML file if you want to have silent installation and add the following lines.
      <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
      <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />

  • T410 NIC Driver not recognized - Microsoft Deployment

    I've found just about every version of the 82577LM NIC driver I could find, to use with our Microsoft Deployment 2010 share.  We're doing a Litetouch deployment and injected just about every T410 NIC driver I could find, plus the Intel chipset driver into our boot image.  Same issue every time.  It doesn't recognize the NIC card, according to error logs.
    Windows XP seems to recognize the driver with no problem.  It's the WinPE that's embedded in the Lite Touch deployment which doesn't recognize.  We've not had a problem from the T60 on up to the T400s, everything worked out of the box.
    Anyone else having this problem?

    Hi,
    I just solved this out by adding Dell's Winpe driver package to MDT Out-Of-Box drivers. It will probably solve your T410 as well since we have the same model in our company and it works nice!

  • Configure Laptops to use Microsoft

    Hi
    I Have one WSUS Server at the HQ Site in Dev at the moment.
    I want to know if the following is possible, and if so, how?
    WSUS would download the updates
    Both Desktops and Laptops would get Approval Status from the WSUS Server.
    Desktops download updates from WSUS
    Laptops download from Microsoft.
    How would this be possible with one WSUS Server?

    So it cant be setup to check if it is on LAN then use WSUS otherwise use Microsoft.
    Well. You could also NOT configure the notebooks to use WSUS at all.
    Perhaps clarifying what you want would help. Do you want notebooks to get approvals from WSUS, or just install *everything* via Automatic Updates?

  • How can I use Microsoft Office on two user accounts on one IMAc?

    Dear all,
    I have installed Microsoft Office 2011 on my IMac which I have recently bought. I did this on the (at that time) only user account in place: the administrator account.
    A little time after this my wife and I decided it would be much easier to us to make an additional user account on the same computer for my wife (also with administrator rights), so we could have our own settings, desktop preferences etc. So now we have two user accounts/profiles on one Imac, so far so good.
    But when my wife signs in on her account, she is not able to use Microsoft Office . Office seems to be only available to the user account on which it has been installed initially: 'my' account.
    Can anyone help us out here and tell us how we can make Office available to my wife's user account as well? I understand that the licence of Office is restricted to one computer, but what about two accounts on the same IMac? I mean, it is still one computer, one 'home', one family etc.
    We would appreciate your help here!
    Kind regards,
    Jurjen

    As long as you installed MS Office into its default location (the top level /Applications folder) it will be available to all user accounts on the Mac.
    As far as licensing is concerned you only have to enter the license code once, which you should do right after installing MS Office, in the same admin account you installed it from, by opening any one of the MS Office applications.  There is no additional licensing required for additional user accounts on the same Mac.
    Each user account is able to run the Office apps.  The only thing you will have to do is go through an initial setup screen in each user account (but this setup does NOT involve entering any additional license codes).
    You may have problems if you installed MS Office in a particular user account (i.e. NOT in the top level /Applications folder).
