Msi ultra difference ?

hello,
anyone knows the difference between those 2 msi 6800 products ?
 MSI NX6800 Ultra-T2D256 - 256 Mo TV-Out/DVI (NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra)
MSI NX6800U-VT2D256 (NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra)
I can't find VT2D reference anywhere.
both card are sold in ldlc.fr :
http://www.ldlc.fr/cat/140013.html?sscat=140013&constructeur=&refParam1=PA012&refParam2=PA037&refParam3=PA041&refParam4=PA083&paramValue1=J000069572&paramValue2=&paramValue3=&paramValue4=

too bad.
would be great to have msi support engineers here.
and this would be great for both people that buy msi cards and people that sell them, including MSI itself.
I had a dream..

  • MSI Ultra 745 on-board Sound Card Problem

I have a MSI Ultra 745 MB (ms-6561 is stamped on the board itself) that I bought barebones, no software. I had XP running on it, but had to reload everything a few days ago. Now I cannot get the built-in sound card to work.
It is a RealTek AC97 onboard soundcard. I DL the software from the MSI site, and it seems to install fine. But when you go to the sound controls in CP, it says that no devices are installed.
Device manager shows the software installed with no conflicts.
If I try to reinstall the software again over top itself, about 2/3 of the way thru the install, it wil reboot the whole machine. This has happened several times.
If I remove and then reinstall the audio software, it installs fine with no errors and reboots normally. But still CP shows no sound device installed, and there is no speaker on the systray.
I am lost on this one, especially since it worked fine the first time.

That was my next move.  Like I said, this one baffles me.  I just can't see why it won't work.  I have installed prob 40-50 systems in my day and I have never had this kind of problem.  Thanks for the help anyway.

  • MSI 7950 differences.

    Hey guys,
what's the difference between these two cards? There's only £3 (around $2) difference and the only thing that's different is one says BE.
MSI Twin Frozr 3GD5 V2/OC Radeon HD 7950 AMD Graphics Card - 3GB
    and
    MSI HD7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE AMD/ATI Graphics Card - 3GB
    Thanks

Yeah, i checked around, couldn't find it either.
I think maybe they've just put the same one up on the site twice. I really can't find any other model of MSI twinfrozr 3 OC. Confusing, but I just went with the V2. Hoping it's a good card!

  • Overclock with MSI Ultra KT4 MS6950 motherboard

Hi, anybody know how to overclock Athlon XP2000+ on MSI Ulta KT4 MS6590 motherboard, I 'd tried to set FSB to 166Mhz, but it went blank screen.

an XP2000+ and FSB166?? lol you nuts?
its like 12.5x166 = 2.1 ghz!!!! you have to unlock it to reach the low multipliers (8x, 9x, etc)
Try from small boosts, like FSB 138, 140, etc etc
when you reach your top oc speed (depends if you RAM can handle that high settings)
ive heard that the KT4 Bios doesnt like high fsb speeds, and i tested one and only reached FSB 140 top, so maybe future BIOS revisions will correct that
    good luck!

  • MSI Ultra-ARU + AMD 2100+

I want to buy this combination. But i saw the board supports only 2000+. Will this be a problem? Is it a good combination?
    Thnx

I did not buy that power, if only if i checked back sooner   . I ordered the ZEUS case from European ColorPCs. With an Allied 350W. It will be sent from Spain. I live in Europe.
Thanks for the sticky raid installation instructions. I bookmarked it. BIGDADDY51CT: What do you mean with EXTRA "mounts"? Mounting the HSF i do understand.. (on google it meant cooler among other things   )
And thermal grease is for the CPU i suppose? I heard i need to put some thermal paste on the CPU and that it's easy to break AMD's. Is that correct? Holy Cow!

  • MSI Fast - Turbo - Ultra RAM settings on KT6V

    hi, I have a KT6V mobo with 1 bank Twinmos 512MB ram.
I am trying to have the best RAM performance changing bios setting.
    I have a strange result:
Ultra mode + cas 2,5 give me best results than Turbo mode + cas 2. ( Ultra mode + cas 2 crash )
What MSI Ultra mode does to give bigger results of cas 2 ? Does it increment the RAM BUS ?
What are the best suggestions ?
    Thanks

The selection in the BIOS is for over-clocking only. But some memories can't be over-clocked and caused the compatibility issue.
** We strongly recommend all end users to update the BIOS to the version 1.3. **
That was taken from the BIOS page for the KT6V, so apparently those settings were causing problems for many users.

  • MSI 745 Ultra and AMD XP 2000+

    Hello everyone,
    I've got a problem, i've got a MSI Ultra 745 (MS-6561)
mainbord and a AMD XP 2000+ Processor.
When i am in windows, fuzzy logic reports to me that
    my cpu is 1666 Mhz..
When i start my bios says that it is an xp 2000+ so that's fine..
And in my bios settings i can change my FSB and my Ratio..
In windows it wil say ratio 12,5 and fsb 133..
How can i change the ratio to 15?
In my bios i can change it to 15 but NOT with program's like fuzzy logic (only the FSB)
    Geetz, arjan

AMD labels their processors by their performance comparison to Intel processors.  So an Athlon XP 2000+ will perform just as well, or better, than a P4 at 2GHz at about 9 out of 10 applications.  The actual clock speed is lower than what the processor is listed as.
You can't change the multiplier factor unless you hack your CPU (quite literally, by connecting some of the L3 bridges with some low resistance thermal silver laquer, this is a difficult and dangerous process).
You can increase the FSB, but if you go above 145 you have serious risk of stability issues.  This will not only effect your CPU, but all of the components of your PC.  I have mine at 140.  Generally you aren't supposed to overclock anything more than 10%
Also, the 745 Ultra does not have a fan for it's motherboard interface controller chip (this would be called the Northbridge, but there's no SouthBridge connected to it).  It just has that copper heatsink that says MSI DDR.  I put my own 40mm fan on it to make sure the chip doesn't overheat.  If you are OCing your FSB, you may want to consider this.

  • KT4 Ultra-BSR

    Hi to everyone,
I'm lookin at getting the new MSI Ultra-BSR Mobo but I'm not sure about 2 things.
    - First, does it support Raid on the regular IDE port for the HDD. I know it does on the S-ATA ones but for now, I've got 2 regular Parallel ATA HDs, and if it does'nt, can I get an adaptor to plug the IDE drives on the S-ATA connectors ???
    - Second, I'm lookin also at putting a XP 2600+ on that board but I don't see anywhere if I can step system bus at 166 Mhz to drive the XP 2600 at 2.13 Ghz. I did see on one site that there would eventually but didn't have the jumpers yet !!!
Can anybody help me out with those 2 questions ???
Thanks a lot and hope to hear from you soon
    Peter

KT4 is certified to support 166Mhz FSB Athlon XP 2600/2800. Don't worry about that.
Thanks you for your insight. I've been reading a lot the last two days and I'm not sure if I should give the VIA KT400 chipset a try yet. Seems it's not that great after all (speed wise at least) and that we should wait for the second release to come out (apparently soon).
What do you think about that ?
Appreciate your point of vues, thanks again

Are you using an 80 pin ide cable on the secondary ide channel?

  • MSI GF4 Ti4200

Thanks for earlier replies (August);  No joy.  I have the latest MSI VGA drivers/VGA BIOS for this card eg.  VGA driver: V4.13.01.3000, VGA BIOS: V4.25.00.29.00.  My ASUS motherboard BIOS is set to AGP 4x, and VGA set to AGP (not PCI).  On the MSI Information screen, I can't change from AGP 1X to AGP 4X.  (or change any other options on that screen either).  I have sent feedback emails to MSI - no response - am I being optimistic?  Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
    I'm running a PIII/866, memory 256Mb/133.
    Howard

I had the same problem it's your VIA/Motherboard drivers but i have got MSI ultra ARU Motherboard which is VIA don't know about ASUS Motherboard.
I used the 4in1442v VIA drivers
Update them and you will have 4x ticked and you will have AGP traffic enable ticked, as in the MSI manual.
I also had a 2500 there about  increase in 3dmark2001se it should around 9500+

  • If my screen doesn't stop shaking im gonna...

Hopefully someone can help. My sceen flickers/shakes in BIOS, at windows, and especially bad running Direct3D applications. It is fine at start-up, during POST and running games through OpenGL. Also in my display adapters it is seeing my AGP card as being in PCI slot1 (i read somewhere that this will not let your AGP go higher than 1X).
Here's what I can tell you: 1) I've tried multiple monitors and it seems to only do it to flat screens (might just be more noticable) 2)changing the refresh rate above 60hz makes it extremely worse 3) I've had a Geforce2 MX400,a Geforce4 Ti400, and am currently using a ATI Radeon 8500 128mb card (tried latest drivers on all of them and am currently using the Omega-Plutonium drivers) 4)I have moved my computer to different places in the house to rule out the possibility of EMI(electro-magnetic interference). 5)Bought a nice UPS(uninteruptable-powersupply) didn't fix it so I took it back. 6)Moved the ram around to different slots. 7)Re-installed windows (although the problem begins before windows or the drivers are loaded I've done both anyway). 8)Tried about every possible combination of the AGP settings in BIOS. 9)And of course made alot of phone calls. 10) flashed BIOS up to version  5.40
    Here's my specs: Win2k / MSI Ultra-ARU KT3 / Samsung 512MB DDR 333mhz (with the HCLK+33 set in BIOS) / AMD XP 1800 / Creative Labs SoundblasterLive Platinum / 5200rpm Maxtor 80Gb HD /KDS Xflat 19in Flat screen monitor / ATI Radeon 8500 128mb / 350w Powersupply / both chassis and cpu run under 45 degrees C.

That's a very good suggestion however, I've done that. Once, when I built the system (from the mobo cd) and here recently from the VIA site version:4.40 although I seemed to have had some issues loading the ones I downloaded from VIA. After the install it gave me the option to restart , I chose it and the Ending Process error came up  after doing that twice in a row I chose not to restart from that screen and manually restarted from the windows start button - no errors, seemed to work fine. But, just incase how would I check to see what version I'm running?
VIA don't have any tool or method to test the version of the 4in1's installed.
Getting an error while installing them isn't normal or good.
Do you have any other 'strange' problems with the computer?

  • Freezing on Bios config screen

    Stuff:
       MSI Ultra (KT 333)
       450w Power supply.
    Hi,
When I boot up my computer it makes it through the ram count, and reports the hard drives connected, it then shows the AMIBIOS SYSTEM Configuration screen, at which point it freezes. I took out all my cards, except my video card, and removed the hard drives, cd-rom and all that and still get the same results. As mentioned my power supply is 450W, and I also tested it with a 300W power supply that works ok for my friend.
NOTE: This is not the first time I have used this computer, it was working fine for quite a while, until the other day I unplug the printer, causing the computer to freeze. I do a hard reboot and it won’t boot up at all. So I then proceeded to reset the bios(having to take out the battery), and now I have my current problem. Can anyone help please ?

You mentioned the 4 LED's on the D-Bracket being lit, but not what color(s) they are.
Yah, I must have been cracked when I wrote that, all four are green.

If BIOS setup defaults work, but not when FSB is I think 133,
Thats the curious part. On my BIOS(not sure if eveyones is like this or what) it has two settings Default settings and Default High Performance settings. Now upon resetting the BIOS it asks me if I wish to re-load the default settings, or enter the BIOS config and set them myself. Now if i choose to load the default settings it will set the FSB at like 100, and stuff, and it still won't boot. HOWEVER to get it to boot, if i choose to enter the bios setup, but I don't acutaly change anything, just exit, the computer will boot up. The strange part is, if I load the default settings, or just enter the bios, all the values are the exact same...

I will double check my CPU seating when I get home, as for cooling it says my CPU is runing at 39 which it was runing at before when it was working. *shrug*.

Have you had any problems before? What memory do you have?
I have never had a problem like this before, up till this began, it was running great. I have PC2700 generic ram, one 512 meg stick.
As for the PSU amperes and full specs I'll post that as soon as I can, BTW I greatly appreciate the help

When booting PC the bios screen and windows boots up on monitor 2, until it gets to the logon screen it changes to monitor 1 (primary display), once logged on to windows everything works as it should.
surely the bios and windows should boot on display 1

  • No power on board

hi folks, thanks for all your posts.  My info:
NF750-g55 mb with 750a sli vid
    Corsair XMS 1333mhz, 4gb (2x2gb) 9-9-9-24 1.5v ram ddr3
    msi ultra tower
    Corsair TX650w PSU
there are other things i will eventually put on there, but this is bare bones right now, just trying to do a post check.
I put the mobo on a slab of cardboard, put the cpu in, added heatsink, and fan.  plugged cpu fan cable into mobo.
added, and seated correctly the ram.
plugged 4 pin power cable into mobo.
plugged (securely) 24 pin power cable into mobo.
plugged power switch cable for tower into board.
plugged in the power cord to the psu.
press any combination of the power buttons, and...........nothing.
i tried it without the case switch, with it.
with 4 pin power, and without.
there is a power button ON the mobo.  pressed that everytime too.
i was originally using a Antec True power trio 550w PSU.  (i'd like to use it, but not sure if it's enough.)
the PSU is BRAND new, just taken out of the box.  2 power sources, and no power.
the mobo was just shipped to me today.  as well as the ram, and the cpu w/fan.
sound like a defective mobo to you folks?
or something else that I should have checked?

no power for the post test.
I checked, rechecked, rechecked the recheck, etc etc.
all cable appear fine.  what would i check for?  based on description, does it appear to you that i have all the proper cables for a post test?
i can't think of any others needed.
do you use the right 4 pin cable for cpu?
try take it out, leave 24pin power connected then see if board will have power
