Mulitiple select list  filter

I am trying to create a search on a report that needs to have several list of values on several tables some of which are lookup tables that do not directly reference the main tables on which the report is built upon. Also need to have at least 3 text box search areas. Also I would like to be able to do a full search on the report that brings back everything in the report and be able to search on one or any combination of search criterias. I have looked at Sergio's example but there are only three tables being used there. As stated before I will need to get information from several tables. Can anyone help?

Thank you so much for the quick response saved my life!.

  • Select lists and deactivated values

    Consider the following simplified test case.
    1. create tables like this
    create table lov_values
      lov_pk number primary key
    , name varchar2(10)
    , active varchar2(1) not null
    insert into lov_values valeus ( 1, 'A', 'Y' );
    insert into lov_values valeus ( 2, 'B', 'Y' );
    insert into lov_values valeus ( 3, 'C', 'Y' );
    commit;
    create table trx
      trx_pk number not null primary key
    , lov_fk number not null foreign key references lov_values
    ) ;2. Create an APEX Insert/Update form on the trx table. Define the LOV_FK item as a select list with this query
    List of values definition:
      select name d, lov_pk r
      from   lov_values
      where  active = 'Y' ;
    Display Extra Values: Yes3. Users use the APEX form to create records like this:
      trx( trx_pk, lov_fk ) = ( 10, 1 )   -- users sees LOV_FK value as "A"
      trx( trx_pk, lov_fk ) = ( 20, 2 )   -- users sees LOV_FK value as "B"
      trx( trx_pk, lov_fk ) = ( 30, 3 )   -- users sees LOV_FK value as "C"4. A year later an admin deactivates lov_value 2/B by setting active to 'N'.
    5. When a user queries trx row 10 they still see "A".
    6. When a user queries trx row 20 they now see "2".
    7. When a user queries trx row 30 they still see "C".
    In step 6 I'd like the user to see "B" whenever they query old data with that value but I never want them to be able to create new trx rows with 2/B or update the LOV_FK value of existing rows to be 2/B. I'd also like to avoid using a pick list with a popup window just for selecting from a list of two (could be a few) values.
    Just wondering how others have dealt with this scenario in their APEX apps.

    I actually just found a simpler way in Select list filter in a tabular form problem forum thread. In the query that defines the tabular form I added a column called HIDDEN_FK_VALUE as follows.
    select
    "TRX_PK",
    "TRX_PK" TRX_PK_DISPLAY,
    "LOV_FK",
    APEX_UTIL.SAVEKEY_NUM("LOV_FK") hidden_fk_value
    from "#OWNER#"."TRX"Then I modified the the Select List query to look like this.
    SELECT name d, lov_pk r
    FROM lov_values
    WHERE (active = 'Y' OR lov_pk = APEX_UTIL.KEYVAL_NUM )Works like a charm. Thanks everyone for your input.

  • Report -- filter with selection list -- show all values after select page

    Hello!
    I have the following problem:
    - I have a report
    - this report can be filtered with a selection-list
    - the selection list is based on dynamic LOV and has a null-value
    - I added the code of the report the following, to filter the report after choosing a value of the selection list:
    ... and (instr(type, decode(:P8_FILTER_type, '%null%',type,:P8_FILTER_type)) > 0)
    This works very well.
    But my problem is: When the user logs out and the next time, he logs in, the selection list shows " --- show all values --- " (my null-display-value) and the report is empty "no values found".
    ---> I want to show the first time, the page is selected ALL the values of the report. (this is now only possile if I press the button which belongs to the selection list)
    I hope, somebody understands my problem.
    Thank you so much,
    LISA

    Hello Lisa,
    The first time it's probably NULL.
    So what you can do in your where: (instr(type, decode(NVL(:P8_FILTER_type,'%null%'), '%null%',type,:P8_FILTER_type)) > 0)
    Off topic: I also wonder if that where clause can't be simpler? Do you rely need the instr?

  • How Do I Filter a Report Using a Multi Select List Box and Specifying Date Between Begin Date and End Date

    Hope someone can help.  I have tried to find the best way to do this and can't seem to make sense of anything.  I'm using an Access 2013 Database and I have a report that is based on a query.  I've created a Report Criteria Form.  I
    need the user to be able to select multiple items in a list box and also to enter a Begin Date and End Date.  I then need my report to return only the records that meet all selected criteria.  It works fine with a ComboBox and 1 selection but can't
    get it to work with a List Box so they can select multiple items.  Any help is greatly appreciated while I still have hair left.

    The query should return all records.
    Let's say you have the following controls on your report criteria form:
    txtStart: text box, formatted as a date.
    txtEnd: text box, formatted as a date.
    lbxMulti: multi-select list box.
    cmdOpenReport: command button used to open the report.
    The text boxes are used to filter the date/time field DateField, and the list box to filter the number field SomeField.
    The report to be opened is rptReport.
    The On Click event procedure for the command button could look like this:
    Private Sub cmdOpenReport_Click()
    Dim strWhere As String
    Dim strIn As String
    Dim varItm As Variant
    On Error GoTo ErrHandler
    If Not IsNull(Me.txtStart) Then
    strWhere = strWhere & " AND [DateField]>=#" & Format(Me.txtStart, "yyyy-mm-dd") & "#"
    End If
    If Not IsNull(Me.txtEnd) Then
    strWhere = strWhere & " AND [DateField]<=#" & Format(Me.txtEnd, "yyyy-mm-dd") & "#"
    End If
    For Each varItm In Me.lbxMulti.ItemsSelected
    strIn = strIn & "," & Me.lbxMulti.ItemData(varItm)
    Next varItm
    If strIn <> "" Then
    ' Remove initial comma
    strIn = Mid(strIn, 2)
    strWhere = strWhere & " AND [SomeField] In (" & strWhere & ")"
    End If
    If strWhere <> "" Then
    ' Remove initial " AND "
    strWhere = Mid(strWhere, 6)
    End If
    DoCmd.OpenReport ReportName:="rptMyReport", View:=acViewPreview, WhereCondition:=strWhere
    Exit Sub
    ErrHandler:
    If Err = 2501 Then
    ' Report cancelled - ignore
    Else
    MsgBox Err.Description, vbExclamation
    End If
    End Sub
    If SomeField is a text field instead of a number field, change the line
            strIn = strIn & "," & Me.lbxMulti.ItemData(varItm)
    to
            strIn = strIn & "," & Chr(34) & Me.lbxMulti.ItemData(varItm) & Chr(34)

  • Possible bug ? - Default value for select list

    4.2.1
    Hi, I have one page with a couple of reports. I have a time period filter on top. Its a select list with values 7 days, 3 months and 12 months. Default value is set to 3 (where return values of select list is 1,2,3 resp).
    Now in page 1 which has this select list, :P1_SELECT it has a report which shows counts of number of items purchased. When the user clicks on the count(hyperlinked column), it takes the user to another page which runs the details of the items and also uses the Page 1 select. It works fine when I change the time period. However, if I dont change the time period in the select list when I first login, althought I have set the default value to 3, the interactive report on page shows no data found, because the select list default value I guess it does not recognize.
    Is this a bug?
    Thanks,
    Sunil

  • List Filter Web Part not Working

    Hi. I'm implementing a SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise Farm on a new Customer. I've created the desired site structure. When trying to use the List Filter web part, i can configure, connect sucessfully to another webpart and even filter.
    The problem is that the Webpage Dialog with the filters, the radio buttons show up but no description is associated to them. Regardless if i configure the description in the web part properties. I even gone further, and tried do create a choice filter,
    with the same behavior.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Tiago Costa

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about the list filter web part.
    Per my knowledge, the description column is used to display an alternative value in the Select Filter Value(s) dialog box, which displays when a user clicks the Filter button.
    For example, if you have a Month number column that uses the numbers 1 though 12 as month values, you can use a Month Name column as the Description column so that January is displayed instead of 1, February instead of 2, and so on.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/sharepoint-server-help/connect-a-filter-web-part-to-a-list-view-web-part-HA010250989.aspx
    I tried to reproduce the issue in my environment, however, when I chose the
    Created column for Description field, when I clicked the filter button, the created time displayed.
    Did the issue occur in other pages? You can recreated a new page, then check whether it works.
    You can also use other browsers to check whether it works.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Spry select list code to wire it to html data table SET column?

    I am making a page based on Figure 15-14, Pg 878, in David Power's book, "Dw CS4 with CSS, Ajax and PHP. I have two separate html data tables hidden in the page, one for the specialties drop down select list and the other for the teachers master/detail regions. These are populated with php and working well. The spry select list and master/detail regions are working great except for one issue. The column in my html data table that is being filtered ("Specialty" in my code = 'Category' in the book's example code) is a SET column (with possible value of 1, 2, 3, 4, and/or 5). Clicking on the drop down menu brings up the records with a single value beautifully. The result for records with multiple values is a spry error "Invalid row number: 0". After four different versionings and methods of messing with this, I still haven't a clue. Please help me with how to rewire the Spry select list code so that it will read the records that have multiple items in that column. I have included the code below.
    var data_set_teachers = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet(null, "teacher_data");
    data_set_teachers.gallery = '1';
    function chooseSet(dataSet, row, rowNumber)
    if (row["Specialty"] == data_set_teachers.gallery) {
       return row;
    return null;
    data_set_teachers.filter(chooseSet);
    function changeSet(set)
    data_set_teachers.gallery = set;
    data_set_teachers.filter(chooseSet);
    data_set_teachers.setCurrentRowNumber(0);
    var rows = data_set_teachers.getData();
    for (var i = 0; i < rows.length; i++) {
       if (rows[i]["Specialty"] == set) {
         data_set_teachers.setCurrentRowNumber(i);
         break;
    var data_set_specialties = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet(null, "specialty_data");

    Well I'll be damned!
    What's done in the sample app is, of course, the intuitively obvious choice and is exactly what I started out trying to do the first time round.
    But as I mentioned before, when I first tried it (yes: I'm pretty sure I set the "for" attribute on the inlineMessage components), I got the non-unique component id exception for the inlineMessage component(s) after adding the second (but not the first) row to the page.
    Anyway, after dragging my inlineMessages to the exact same position as those in the AppModel example, now things work fine (except I think I'd like a line break before the message and to change the row/column styles so the values and messages line up properly...the look is rather ugly in the AppModel example when there are validation messages displayed).
    Not sure, but I'm thinking maybe there was an issue with where the inline message markup was placed, my first time through, relative to the data table value bound component and the column header facet?
    I was using the application view drag 'n drop feature the first time round and dragged the inlineMessage component to the spot just below the data table value bound component and hence just above the column header facet. In the AppModel example, OTOH, the inline messages are placed just after the column header facet.
    Of course, I will now try to duplicate the original exception.
    If I can (and it is an issue with placement), I will post back some sort of bug report or RFE. Otherwise, I'll post back declaring what a bone head I've been...;-)
    Anyway, thanks for the quick response, v.

  • Can a Link be attached to a select list option?

    Here is some code for a select list that pulls its data from a database:
    <select name = "sid" height = "1"class="dropit" >
    <?PHP while ($row = $result ->fetch_assoc())  {   ;
        echo '<option value='. ($row['id']);
        if (!(strcmp($row['id'], $row['id']))) {echo "selected=\"selected\" ";}
         ?>><?php echo $row['type']?>
    <?PHP } ?>
    </select>
    This works fine with a form. It is fast, and you can jump to an option just by typing its first letter.
    I would like to code it so that the options have a link to another page attached to them without the need for a form.
    It would show the selected item, and next to it would be a link attached to the word "Update"
    The link would be similar to this: <a href="update.php?id=<?php echo $row['id']; ?>">Update</a>
    It is quite easy to do in a table, with the <a ref in one td and the name field in another like so:
    <table>
    <?php while($row = $result->fetch_assoc()) { ?>
      <tr>
        <td><?php echo $row['id']; ?></td>
        <td><?php echo $row['type']; ?></td>
        <td><a href="update.php?id=<?php echo $row['id']; ?>">EDIT</a></td>
       </tr>
      <?php } ?>
    </table>
    but it does not allow key navigation, and as I have a growing list of over 6000 items,it is becoming painfully slow to use.
    Is it possible to include a URL within the option,
    Or allow the option to be selected with the URL alongside it within the select list?
    Its part of a management system that I am updating.
    For searches on the live web I am able to filter the results in a better way, using a word search system..
    All help appreciated.

    Thanks Bregent. I never studied Jump Menus before today.
    A jump menu works to a degree, but unless I have made a coding error, it is not possible to jump to an item in the list by hitting a letter key while the list is active.
    Here is my code using a database table with an id and a single field:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function MM_jumpMenuGo(objId,targ,restore){ //v9.0
      var selObj = null;  with (document) {
      if (getElementById) selObj = getElementById(objId);
      if (selObj) eval(targ+".location='"+selObj.options[selObj.selectedIndex].value+"'");
      if (restore) selObj.selectedIndex=0; }
    </script>
    <form name="form" id="form">
      <select name="jumpMenu" id="jumpMenu">
                 <?PHP while ($row = $result ->fetch_assoc())  { ;?>
                  <option value=<?PHP echo"update2.php?id=".$row['id'] ?> ><?PHP echo $row["id"]." - ";?><?PHP echo $row["field_value"];?></option>
               <?PHP }   ?>
      </select>
      <input type="button" name="go_button" id= "go_button" value="Go" onClick="MM_jumpMenuGo('jumpMenu','parent',1)">
       </form>
    Unless every option has a different link, I can see little use for it.
    Seems little different to a standard form with a drop down menu and a GO button, and that does not need any javascript!
    It does give a workable example of how to populate a jump menu from a database, which I was unable to find on the web.
    Comments welcome.

  • Is there an easier way to get tabular report results with select lists?

    Ok, as a newbie, I have gotten this query to work in my report region but I figure if I am doing something this convoluted then I am not letting a wonderful feature of HTML DB do its job.
    I have 3 select lists that I want to "AND" together to filter the result list. Two of the selected items to filter could have null values.
    I want to have the entire results to appear when the list is reset (clear cache is working and sets each select list value to null). However, it appears to me, if one select list is used and the others are not, the other select lists by default have %null% (Null return value setting left blank) which isn't really null.
    Well if that wasn't confusing so far. Here is the select:
    select [my columns]
    from my_table
    where (instr(upper("COL1"),upper(
    decode(:P1_FILTER_COL1,'%null%',"COL1",
    null,"COL1",:P1_FILTER_COL1))) > 0 -- COL1 is mandatory
    AND
    (instr(upper("COL2"),upper(
    decode(:P1_FILTER_COL2,'%null%',"COL2",
    null,"COL2",:P1_FILTER_COL2))) > 0 OR "COL2" IS NULL)
    AND
    (instr(upper("COL3"),upper(
    decode(:P1_FILTER_COL3,'%null%',"COL3",
    null,"COL3",:P1_FILTER_COL3))) = 1 OR "COL3" IS NULL)
    Do I have to use decode for the select values being reset, selected/not selected? Is there some way for the Null return value setting to really be null not %null%?
    Thanks,
    Kelly

    Rather than creating your report directly from a SQL statement use the "Sql Query (PL/SQL Function Body returning Sql Query)" option and re-write your code in PL/SQL. PL/SQL gives you greater control and allows you to test the "null" values and add where clauses to your SQL query based on whether or not a value was selected in the SELECT list.
    For example, I have a report parameter screen that has a state drop down list that returns a value of -1 if no state is selected. I can, therefore, code:
    IF :P6_STATE_CODE != -1 THEN
    query := query + " WHERE state_code = ' ||
    :P6_STATE_CODE ;
    END IF ;
    I have a more complete example if you would like to send me an email ([email protected])

    Like i want to have the cascading select list's above the tabualr form report such that when i select the value in one select list, this should populate the values in other select list box(like one select list is dependent on other select list) and try to click a button say refresh, my tabular form report should be refreshed and should filter the report based on the select list value.

    Aplication item is always hidden - Shared Components > Application Items. You can create only one item and that would also be enough. For transparency purposes I said to create two. However, one will do the job.

  • Select lists, Static Assignment Computations

    Hi,
    I'm using ApEx 4.0.1 on Windows XP Pro SP3.
    I need to set items default values when the page loads.
    So I created "Before Header" computations for each item (static assignment).
    When I run the page, the default values are set, but for select lists I need to change the selected value too, not only the returned value.
    (for example for a select list containing values (1,2,3,4,5) with a default value of 1. If I select 3, and then reload the page, the selected value is still 3 but the returned value will be 1.)
    Is there a way to set the selected value at the same time, without having to create a special process to do that ?
    Thank you.
    Yann.

    Sorry Denes for this late reply, I was working on an urgent thing.
    So, I tried to export the application on apex.oracle.com but I can't make it run as it uses a lot of procedures/functions, packages, etc... and I don't have time to create again all the databases objects on apex.oracle.com.
    So you can access the application but you will get an error if you try to run it.

    I tried to created on other test page with only 2 select lists (Application : 20588 - Géode, Page : 2 - Filter) , and it works...
    So I think the cause of the problem is somewhere else on the page.
    If you have time to take a look let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Return Value of a Select List with Submit

    I have a Select List with Submit (P8_COLOR) which I want to use to filter the data in my report.
    P8_COLOR has 3 static values ALL, RGB, BYP that return ALL,RGB and BYP.
    When the page is submitted, my SQL Query (PL SQL function body returning SQL Query) does not recognize the return value. I can assign the return value to a different textfield and can see the correct value being assigned.
    My PL SQL looks like below...
    IF :P8_COLOR = 'RGB' THEN
    q := q || ' AND COLOR_ID in (1,2,3)
    END IF;
    I am not a PL SQL expert and wonder whether the IF condition is correct. Would appreciate any help with this.
    Thanks,
    Ghazi

    Thanks Jes. That worked.
    Would you know why :P8_COLOR didn't work? What is the difference between using :P8_COLOR and v('P8_COLOR')? I am using :P8_XXXX for another Select List that only checks for null and that works. The one where I am checking for the return value doesn't work.
    Thanks again.
