Multi caméra Firewire - problème de bande passante ?

Bonjour,
"L'erreur -1074360296 s'est produite à : IMAQdx Configure Acquisition.vi
Raisons possibles :
NI-IMAQdx: (Hex 0xBFF69018) Insufficient transfer engine resources."
Merci.

  • How to add newly imported audio - as a new storyline/angle to existing multi cam Project??

I have a 6 camera multi cam Music Video Project I have been working on in depth for 5 days. The "band" has sent me a new & improved .wav file to replace the audio I have been working with on one "song". I have imported it into the event, cannot figure out how to add it as a new angle (that I will manually sync on the timeline) and then make it the active audio monitor angle. I see ways to "connect it" but not how to have it appear in the 6up display & on its own story/time line in the precision editor. This is like reinventing the wheel. I am losing mu mind. Please help?
    Thanks

Man oh man. I need to take a break & eat somthing, how embarassing. I swear I knew that but had an attack of hysterical blindness or... the disclose arrow>add new...  Thank You Tom for your quick & thouriough reply. Have a swell holiday.

  • FR: Full Screen Preview of Multi-Camera Angles

The Program monitor can be viewed in Full Screen mode, as we all know, but when the Program monitor is displaying Multi-camera angles, it can only viewed in windowed mode.  Full Screen mode no longer works in this situation.  This is inconsistent, illogical and unproductive, thus my new FR for Adobe to allow the Program Monitor to be viewed in Full Screen mode, regardless of what it's displaying:
(feel free to copy/paste and send as your own FR here: www.adobe.com/go/wish)
How would you like the feature to work?
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature: Full Screen Preview for Camera Angles
How would you like the feature to work?
The Program and Source Monitors can both be toggled in/out of  Full Screen mode with a single keyboard shortcut, a fantastic feature.  Why then can't the Program Monitor display in Full Screen when it's displaying Camera Angles, either with the Multi-Camera Preview Monitor on or off?  A window that can be viewed in Full Screen should always allow full screen preview, regardless of what it is displaying!
Why is this feature important to you?
Consistency and a logical, productive UI is beneficial to all editors.  The fact that the Program Monitor window can be viewed in Full Screen in one instance but not another, is illogical, inconsistent, and a productivity hindrance that should be fixed.
Ideally, Adobe could give us a separate, Full Screen capable window for displaying Camera Angles.  This way users could display their Camera Angles on one monitor, and their Program Monitor on a second monitor, all in Full Screen mode, without the visual polution of a windowed interface whenever that interface does not contribute to the editing task at hand!  Here is my thread regarding that request: Help Improve Premiere! FR: Separate, maximizable Multi-camera view.  However, should Adobe be unable or unwilling to provide us with the suggested interface that would provide maximum customizability/flexibility, at the very least having the option to view our Program Monitor in Full screen mode when viewing Camera Angles would be useful.

The iSight is either 640x480 (older MBPs) or 1280x1024 (newer MBPs). Displaying it 'full screen' especially in an older MBP (which is what you have if you're posting in the correct forum) would result in a horribly pixelated image, not 'high resolution'. The apps that show the iSight feed are showing it at its native resolution, and that's a limitation of the hardware. If you need higher resolution, you can attach a higher resolution video camera (for example, my Panasonic DV camcorder connects via FireWire and can be used as a webcam).

  • 3 cam multi-cam, HDV or DV?

First, let me say I read this http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/when_to_staynative.html and even emailed the author about the HDV->DVD workflow. His response was "If you're going to have no HD distribution now or any time in the future, then downconverting to SD on ingest is reasonable. I assume that anyone shooting in HD will be protecting for future and should edit in HD, before doing any current SD downconverts." To my defense, I always keep my tapes and the FCP Project file so I could media manage in the future, but HIGHLY doubt that for what I do I'll ever need to do that at least anytime soon. That being said, I will be doing a multi-camera shoot at the end of the month, two cameras over two days, but one camera on the second day will be strictly a backup, so I'll have 3 angles to mix together. I have two eSATA drives which is what I figure I'll need to end up using for the bandwidth. DV and HDV are the same bit-rate, but not the same processor intensive wise. I've read on here for the past several years the horrors of HDV as a codec, aka, the conforming process. I've also read about rendering in ProRes or even transcoding the footage.
Here's my question, for a 3 angle multicam going only to DVD, should I A. ingest and edit as HDV then export for DVD, B. ingest and edit as DV via the downconversion on my camera, or C. other.
The thing being recorded is a dance show, so I may need to split each dance into it's own multiclip if the time between dances is different each day, but that shouldn't affect my workflow. Really the only thing I edited entirely HDV was a high school's musical which took days to compress for DVD, so I'd rather not need to go through that excruciating process again.
Thanks to you all and any opinions?
    -Brian

i have a AVCHD camera (sony HDR-SR1) and its just great! it records on a harddrive and that makes saving/ deleting footage so much easier. the touch screen interface is super simple and took seconds to get used to.
i havent anything to compare it to besides a realy old low res camera that records on a miniDV so i cant realy make any desitions for you but i can tell you this:
i realy enjoy my AVCHD, but MAKE SURE THAT IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH WHAT YOU NEED IT TO BE! before this summer i suffered greatly to be able to edit on Final cut express and i could not keep it at a HD quality
if ur using iMovie 08 then its all good though :P
    but be rlyyyy carefull
only way u know itll work w/o doing any research is if it has a firewire

  • Multi Camera editing & stuff

I'm hoping to try something new if it is possible.
I want to edit a recorded multi camera sequance as though it was a live transmission i.e. have 'monitors' showing the various synced video sources. I'm not sure if this is possible with Adobe (I have the master collection).
If it isn't possible could someone advise on the best way to edit from 4-5 camera set-up (the cameras are set-up and are unmaned during meetings/ events).
Whilst I am posting I slip in a cople of simple questions. How do I clean my hard drive of old files (my C: drive is rapidly running out of space although all projects etc should be stored on by D: drive)? Is it possible to export back to a similar encoded file as originally captured from DV tape. Un compressed DV yields a data rate too big to handle easily (300mbps) and MS DV is much smaller (3mbps) - the original capture was just under 40mbps.
Thanks for any help you can offer

    Hi chaps, thanks for responses.
Just to clarify my hardware is a home built PC with a i7-950 processor corsair SSD 256gb system drive and 2 raptors running raid 0 as by data (D:) drive.
I have read the help files about multicam view but unless I'm missing something you can only view one feed at a time. What I want to do is show all four syncronized feed running in real time so that I can choose which source I want.
All captures except 1 are from DV cameras (import via firewire - no problems) the other is a digital camera which uses the MP4 format (not so easy - problems encoding).
It would appear that if I tried to save the produced 1 hour video in uncompressed DV format the file would be just over 135gb!! (300mbps x 60 x 60 /8).
The captured files are about 13gb/hour.
Is there a better way to save the media for possible further editing i.e. a different encoder?
    Thanks for your help

  • Multi-Camera Editing

    Primiere Pro CS4 Creative Suite
Hi, Thanx in advance for your help.
We did a multi-camera shoot of a band.  We ran through the set twice with 4 cameras, thats a total of 8 tracks.  The 2nd run through for the stationary camera on the drummer can be dropped to reduce the count to 7.   Hopefully the timing on the first and second set will the same.  It should be close as these guys are tight.
I'm hoping some seasoned Premiere user can give me some pointers on how to best do a 7 camera Multi-Camera edit.
I was thinking I would do each 4 camera shoot as a multi-camera edit and then, assuming they synch, take the output from each set and do them as a two "camera" multi-camera edit.
    Is there a better way?
Of course, if the don't synch...I try not to think about that.
    Thanx,
    Mel

Assuming all cameras were on continuous roll nd therefore in synch.....I think I would aproach it like this:
The band and the director probably know which of the two performances (takes) were the best.
That one I would edit multicam.
Then I would look at each of the rolls from the other take and cherry pick the shots.
An NLE, like PPRO ,can work a bit like a vision switcher  in the sense (and I am sure you know this) that the Upper Track is dominant over under lying tracks.  You can use this to your advantage as you cherry pick your other takes.  eg find a section you might like to use then toggle the track on/off to see where it fits into the multicam edited sequence.

    Mel,
What version of Pr are you using. Not sure that Multi-camera was added until PrPro. I've got it in PrPro 2.0, and it may have been around from PrPro 1.0. I just do not know about earlier versions of Pr.
If you are using PrPro, then you'll want to post HERE, as this forum is for Premiere, the precursor of PrPro. You'll get a lot more traffic and help in the PrPro forum.

  • Rapid Tapeless Multi-camera workflow with OnLocation

I am wondering whether anyone is using OnLocation for rapid (read almost instant) tapeless workflow.
What I would like to do is:
1 - Use 4 Sony V1U HDV cameras and ISO record all of them as HDV files.
2 - Record the ISO on four separate laptops running OnLocation via a Firewire feed from each camera.
3 - Store the clips (as they are being recorded) onto four external eSATA drives (one for each camera/laptop combo)
4 - After 90 minute recording is complete, move the four external eSATA drives to a central workstation running CS4 and equipped with 4 eSATA ports.
5 - Then WITHOUT copying the files from the external drives, immediately start editing a multi-cam session.
    Can I do this?
    Are there any "gotcha's?"
What kind of of pre-processing of the clips is necessary if any?  (audio or video "conforming"?)
Does timecode stay with the files?
How long after I mount the drives might I be ready to start editing?  1 minute?  5 minutes 1 hour or more?
I need to do a FAST turnaround, but cannot do a live switch.......
    Thanks!
    Mike Fayette

That actually sounds pretty cool. The only question I'd maybe ask is what is cheaper: 4 laptops with onlocation, or 4 solid state recording devices for your cameras (like Convergent's little one which records from the HD-SDI port of the camera)?
If you need the functionality of OL, like scopes and what not, then sure it sounds like it's the way to go. Just sayin there may be alternatives?

But I saw a handful of others along this line at NAB last year.

  • A Better Way to do Multi-Camera

I am able to do multi-camera edits, synchonization and playback but I suspect I am doing it inefficiently.  All of the tutorials I've seen start with only the clips that will participate in the multi-cam ALONE in a sequence.  And I know all the steps from there.  But what I don't know is how to efficiently proceed if there are may clips in a sequence and I only want to do multi-cam on one stack of clips in the sequence.  For instance, let's say that I have 10 clips on the timeline.  All are on video and audio tracks 1.  But the 6th clip also has multi-cam clips on video and audio tracks 2-4.  What I currently do is
    1. copy  these clips (only the clips located in the 6th spot tracks 1-4 on the timeline but not the entire sequence)
    2. paste them to a new sequence (sequence #2)
    3. create another new sequence (sequence #3)
    4. drag sequence #2 into sequence #3)
I know all the multi-cam steps after this.
The question is: is this the most efficient way to do this when I'm starting with a sequence that has clips on them other than the ones that I want to participate in multi-cam.  I'm creating 2 new sequences to accomplish this.  Can it be done in only one new sequence?

I edit a lot of things the same way you are talking about when you have many clips on video 1 and then just a few where there are mulitple cameras.
If there are only 2 shots (Video 1 and Video 2) here is what I do.
    1.  Line up Video 2 over top of Video 1 in the proper place.
    2.  Right click on the clip in Video 2 and select "Unlink"  (Unlinking will unlink the audio and video.  You do this so that when you cut video 2 you do not also cut the audio)
    3.  Place the CTI so that it is on your Video 2 Clip and then double click on that clip.  This will open the clip in your Source Monitor.
    4.  BEFORE moving the CTI, Right Click on the tab of your Program Monitor and select "Gang Source and Program".
    5.  Now turn off the eyeball on Video 2
    6.  When you scrub through the timeline you will see both your video in both the Program and Source monitors moving.  Unfortuantely you cannot just play the video and watch both.  You can play it and watch the Program monitor and when you stop the Source monitor will catch up.
    7.  Use the Cut tool to cut out spots of Video 2 so you can see Video 1.
    8.  One tip is that if you are going to cut the very first part of Video 2 the best thing to do is to get the CTI where you want Video 2 to start and then use your selection tool to just trim it to that spot.  If you cut it and delete it you will loos your video in the source monitor.  Not that big of a deal because all you have to do is Double Click on it again and re-select Gange Source and Program, but it saves you from having to mess with it.
If I have 3 or more video clips I just highlight them all and right click and select "Nest".  That will make your new sequence for you with all your clips you selected.  Just then do a normal Multi Cam edit.
    Hope this helps some!
    Phil

Can I use the new Apple Thunderbolt  to Firewire adapter to download video from a video camera by firewire to my Macbook Air ?

Yes, you can use the 85 watt adaptor. You cannot use the new adaptors because your computer is not equipped with the proper MagSafe connector. But you can use the older MBP adaptors as well as a 60 watt replacement adaptor. All can be found at Apple's Online Store.

    b-roll is DVD (mini-disk) (720x480, 29fps) - bride preparations
additional b-roll is AVCHD (1920x1080, 29fps) - groom preparations and misc all day ceremony and reception.
Film is from a wedding, DV contains main footage so I assume it will need to be the base.  I am planning to use the preset for DV-Widescreen.  Is there a better option?  I'm concerned about playback as the three appear to have different PAR.  I'm using Premiere Elements 10 on W8.
Ultimately this will be burned for two formats - one for a DVD that can be watched on a widescreen TV, second for a short clip trailer to go on vimeo.
(And no I won't be doing this again for a wedding that I shoot.)

Please review since I am not sure how you obtained Video 3 tall when you scaled Video 3 with Constrain Proportions in effect.
    Before
    After
It becomes a zoomed in effect to get rid of the black borders. But, there is no tall and thin involved anywhere.

  • Multi cam synced, can't create the new seq from clip

multi cam work flow.  trying to follow through the tutorials and help - but stuck.  I have synced 2 cams with audio, next step says to create new sequence from clip - but when I do all I get is a 1 second sequence (it should have been 15mins.  Tried all the methods listed, now randomly trying select all, targets tracks, etc, ?

    edit -
That helped, back at it - thanks.  New trouble -  although I can now make the multi-cam target sequence of the correct duration, I move into program monitor for editing the multi cam display enabled, the separate sources/cams no longer show in the window...  it's just blank.  I've checked my vid drivers- up to date with manufacturer (not windows) updates.

  • Multi cam shoot using  P2 cards. How to move clis to timecode positions

multi cam shoot using P2 cards. How to move clis to timecode positions. We were using free TC. I want to a large # of clips from both cams. and have them move to the correct TC position on the timline. In Nuendo eith audio u hit apple a or ctrl a right click move to orgin. Avid will take care of it for u. FCP???

If you read the "Apple Pro Training Sereis; Final Cut Pro 5" book, it's very easy. You can sync the clips manually by setting In or Out points, specifying TC, or using one of the two Aux TC fields. Since this is the first, and most basic step in doing Multiclip editing, I'd suggest you get the book, or read the appropriate section of the User Manual. I don't think anyone wants to post a full "how to" article in a forum.
It can be done, you're clips have to all have been recorded with synced TC, or they simply won't sync up in any NLE. Read the book. Cause even if I did have the time to explain FCP's Multiclip editing in this forum, you'd still have questions that are in the book.
If you actually walk through the first steps of building a Multiclip to edit, it's blatatnly obvious in the first step. I'd give it a try first.
Problem is the DVCPRO-HD codec is going to require a higher end Mac with tons of RAM and either RAID, or internal drives to do a DVCPRO-HD Multiclip, as DVCPRO-HD (P2) is a pretty high bandwidth codec. I use it daily, I know, it takes horsepower to do.

  • "Flatten" option for multi-camera  is gone in new version of CC

It has been a couple months since I have used this feature, but it is gone now. Now when I right click on a multi-camera clip, the only option is "Enable" (or disable by uncheking it). The option to "Flatten"was a huge benefit, and it was sorely lacking in CS6. Please tell me that this feature is coming back, or more importantly how to get it back. I am working on a whole bunch of multicamera projects this month.
    Thanks,
    John

The flatten command remains for me on 7.2 running  OSX 10.8.5,  for multicam sequences created through the Project panel and by the old method of nesting a sequence in another sequence.
As evidence that this is CC7.2, note that two instances of the Media Browser are open, which was not possible until the new update.
I'm not suggesting that the command is missing in your case but only certifying that it has not been removed altogether. The more info you can provide about your case, the better the chance that we'll be able to figure out what's going on.
