Multi Client approach  in SAP CRM 7.0

I got some basis CRM question and trying to get some answer. I thought this is the best place to get some answer.
At my current client, we are implementing CRM initially with only few functionality i.e. ITSM and Customer Complaints. CRM team requested separate client for both the functionality for end user experience. Also they do not want to connect ITSM client to any other back-end system as of now.
Do you see any issue with creating 2 clients in CRM Production environment?
What do you recommend/suggest from your past experience?
Thanks,
Miral.

Miral,
Personally your CRM team is trying to create some job security by having two clients in CRM Production. Honestly there is no reason why you can't run ITSM and customer complaints in the same client.
IMHO two clients in a single CRM system is generally a bad idea unless there is a valid reason(IE multiple backends, businesses).
At this point unless you have mutltiple ERP backends or business units for selling that require this separation, I would not do this.  Tell your CRM team to use a single client and not make life complicated for everyone.  They should be able to separate the ITSM and customer complaints via security and business with no technical problems.
Good luck and hopefully they haven't created that extra client yet.  Multiple clients just causes headaches.
Take care,
Stephen

    Dear Experts,
We are implementing CRM Middleware - Multiple Backend Scenario (MEP / MBE Concept) in our client landscape for SAP CRM on HANA (Ehp3)
    set-up.
And If any one of you have already implemented MEP Scenario in the SAP CRM Landscape, Could you please help us to provide with the Configuration Steps / Documents, so that we can proceed further.
    Below are the following Queries:
    For Customizing Adapter Object:
    1) Does MEP Concept support the Customizing Adapter object to download from more than one ECC System to single CRM System.
If Yes, Could you please provide the Configuration steps or Procedure to download the customizing data.
    For Master Adapter Object:
    2) The Adapter objects for Master Data like Customer and Materials are technically supported under MEP for the data exchange.
However, is it possible to download the Equipments Master Data from more than one ECC System to single CRM System?
If Yes, Could you please provide the steps or Procedure to download the Equipments Master Data.
And please provide if you have done the Solution Manager Configuration mapping for MEP Scenario, which is required for the maintenance and transfer of customizing mappings to CRM and Mapbox.

  • Recommendations/experiences using APO-DP in multi-client SCM environment ?

    Hello experts,
we have an SCM5.0 system using DP/SNP etc. Now we want to onboard another company (Joint Venture) and introduce DP first for them. We are investigating what it would mean to setup another client within our existing SCM system or what challenges we could run into (since the underlaying BW is not truly multi-client capable).
SAP Note 1413544 says that theoretically SCM is capable of doing so with some limitations since there can only be 1 "master" BW client in an SCM system. Does somebody have / would kindly share experiences working withe several APO clients within 1 SCM system and preferably using DP.
    My questions would be:
    1) if I create a new DP PlanningObjectStructure in the additional APO client - do I need to activate it the "master BW client" (since there is an internal InfocCube behind) ? Does this also mean all POS and PAs are visible in all clients or only in the client where I created them ?
    2) if I want to use RemoteCube to extract data from a DP (or SNP) planning area (ad-hoc reporting on LiveCache Data)- does this go thru the "master BW client" or thru the additional / new BW client ?
    3) Assuming I would create a new DP POS + Planning Area in the additonal client and create planning Books / DataViews - are these PB/DV visible in all clients or only in the one where I created it ?
    Regards
    Thiomas

    Hi Thiomas,
Though I have not worked for this scenario. However as per my understanding,All APO objects as PA, MPOS ,PB, DV should be client specific and will be  visible in the specific client only. The Tricky portion would be the BW portion. As this would be single one, So the extraction cube and Planning area datsources should be visible in the main client BW.Hence it can be used in the same BW client .
I hope this should work having the seperate client for DP objects and keeping the same main BW client at the background. Let me also the test results.
Let me know if it helps.

  • S_DEVELOP authorization needed for CRM Web Client in SAP CRM 7.0?

We implemented an own WebUI component in SAP CRM 2007 and use it in others components (with USAGE).
After we transport the component in SAP CRM 7.0 we always got an error CX_BSP_DLC_CONFIG_GENERAL_ERR at loading the component. But if we set the permission to SAP_ALL all thing work fine.
In SAP Note Nr. 1367944 we read:
"It is not possible to run the CRM Web Client without the S_DEVELOP, activity=03
authorization because it is needed by the Web Client Framework.
The S_DEVELOP authorizatin is part of the SAP_CRM_UIU_FRAMEWORK PFCG role, which must
    be assigned to every user."
"This dependency has been removed in CRM 7.0."
Do we need to install some other SAP Notes at SAP CRM 7.0?
    Many thanks for advices!
    Handri Gunawan

    Hi Handri,
I asked my collegue here, who created the note.
The note is correct, in CRM 7.0 you do not need S_DEVELOP anymomre.
The error that you have might occur because of another reason.
Could you track the call stack of this exception?
And send me back the call stack?
    Regards,
    Steve

  • SAP CRM 7.0 - NWBC desktop client

    Hi all,
    we are on SAP CRM 7.0 (NW > 7.02) and NWBC 3.0 - 3.5.
In my understanding there're two ways to use SAP NWBC . By using (NWBC desktop client) and/or (NWBC for HTML).
We have assigned the CRM Business Role and then the PFCG role to a test user. If this user use NWBC for HTML the business role content is displayed correctly. Using the NWBC desktop client is not showed the same result. Is only displayed the business role name. Same behavior also by using the standard SAP business roles and PFCG roles.
Seem that the NWBC for desktop don't manage the UI service entries in PFCG menu (generated through CRMD_UI_ROLE_PREPARE report).
    We are doing something wrong?
    Many thanks.
    Massimo

    Hi Maikel,
many thanks. I don't receive an error message like this.
Then I suppose is not related to the NW version. But I will check.
    Thanks.

  • SAP CRM multiple clients possible

    Hi,
We have a NetWeaver  SAP CRM system (ABAP + JAVA) stack.
We run an internet webshop application on the JAVA stack connected to CRM ABAP stack, client 010. The CRM ABAP stack connects to SAP ERP.
Q1: Is it possible to add a new client 020 in the ABAP stack of the CRM system?
Q2: I don't understand in CRM the connection between the JAVA and ABAP stack. If I add a new ABAP client 020, do I need to copy the JAVA stack/client also?
Who can help me guiding in which direction I have to go?
Note: We want to connect a non-SAP system to client 020.
    Overview:
ERP ABAP (client 010)    --> CRM ABAP (client 010) --> CRM JAVA stack
non-SAP (legacy system) --> CRM ABAP (client 020) --> CRM JAVA stack
Q3: What are the problems (challenges) I can expect?

    Hi Rene,
I think it is not supporting multiple clients. Wait for some additional replies.

  • Best Approach for integrating SAP CRM with Outage Management System

    Hi All,
We are moving towards deploying Outage Management System (Oracle Utilities NMS) to help localize the fault, achieve Outage Management and a transparent network with a near-real time stats. We already have SAP ECC 6.0, ISU, SAP PI 7.0 and SAP CRM 7.0. One of the challenges we are facing is to decide how should we go about the integration of SAP CRM with Oracle's Outage Management System.
Here is a sample business scenario,
CSR receives a call from a consumer and inquires about planned outages for a particular area.
This information is contained in the Outage Management System (OMS). OMS is SOA based and is hosted on Oracle Service Bus.
I want to know that is there any ES Bundles available for CRM-OMS integration? Should we go about Service Based Integration? What are the alternatives to Service based integration? Can it be done using BAPIs?
We receive around 1000 consumer complains and against every complain a ticket is generated in CRM. Now If CRM is integrated with OMS using SAP PI, the volume of the data being exchanged via PI is very much high and exceeds our licensed volume for SAP PI. So I do need to know the best practices for either approach that you may recommend.
    Regards,
    Adil Khalil

does anyone have an idea about this one, I've asked this question in a few places and no one really seems clear about it.
Also, I've read here and there that SAP Business One is not a real SAP product. It was bought by SAP and is sold by them but has little do to with SAP's technology (R/3, SAP ERP, Netweaver, SAP CRM, ...), and that therefore they don't support it that much ? Is any of this right ?
I'm just trying to get my vision of the SAP universe clear.

  • Info on Single CRM Instance vs Multi instance approach for ERP integration

    Hi All,
I am working on a requirement where we have to propose integration approach to connect CRM with multiple ERP systems deployed across the geographical locations. We have two options, one is to have multiple CRM instances for each ERP instance or having a single CRM instance connected to all ERP instances. We foresee many issues on having a single CRM instance as there could be duplication of master data, solution cannot be Scalable or will be too complex, etc. if any of you have any docs/case study or ref link on this topic. Kindly pass on the same.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    udaya

    Hi Udaya,
As of SAP CRM 5.2, PI 2005.1 and higher, the standard SAP system technically supports the
data exchange for a Multiple CRM scenario (MCRM). In this technical scenario the SAP ERP system
is connected to more than one SAP CRM system.
You can check SAP Note 1143540 & 842477. These 2 notes will give you an over-all idea about this scenario.
You can also find a document under:
    service.sap.com/crm-inst --> CRM 2007 --> CRM Server Components

Anybody know the steps necessary for do this ?

    1. If you want to use same SUP server for all the DOE clients then:
    - you need to download the bundle from SDOE_ESDMA_DESIGN transaction from each client
    - You should deploy the ESDMA bundle multiple times in SUP with different names
    2. If you want to use differnt SUP server for each client in DOE then:
    - you need to download the bundle from SDOE_ESDMA_DESIGN transaction from each client

  • SAP/SRM One client approach

    Hi all,
Not sure where to put this question.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on finding information on the benefits / risks/issues on a one client approached for SRM?
    Or list them here?
    Thanks for any info!

    Hi!
Thank you very much for your response!!
    My actual situation:
I have a EHP4 for SAP ERP which has only ABAP stack.
    Questions
    1) Should/must I install a Java-Add In Instance?
    a) Is it possible to install a Java Add In Instance for EHP4 ERP system or do I need only a extra/new Windows server for this?
    b) what are the must usage scenarios I have to choose for the Java installation (Portal, MDM, PI)?
    2) what is the exact installation sequence (SRM One Client, SRM MDM, NW Portal)?
    Thank you very much!

    Hello
Yes It was an issue in 7.0 SP 01 release. It is fixed from 7.0 SP 04 Mobile release. To avoid the MAS Help installation, Please follow the below steps.
    1. In the 7.0 SP 01 DVD Structure, A  file called 'config.xml' which is available at 'Mobile_Client_Installation' folder.
    2. Take the backup for this file. Open the XML file, Remove the following entry.
    <MsiTask TaskName="MASHelpTask" ProductCode="{AE558035-159C-4621-A6A2-E34CCFD6639D}" RelativePath="..\SAP Mobile Application Studio Help Integration\SAP MAS Help.msi" SetupMode="Install" UIMode="BasicUI" TaskType="MSI" PendingTitle="SAP MAS Help is yet to be installed" RunningTitle="Installing SAP MAS Help" SuccessTitle="SAP MAS Help installed successfully" FailureTitle="Installation of SAP MAS Help failed" FailOnExit="true" IfDefined="MSDNFOUND" LogSetup="true" VerboseLog="true" LogPrefix="MASHelp" />

  • How to replicate a complaint from ECC IS-M 6.0 to SAP CRM 7.0

    Hi Media Experts,
I have a request from my client in whom I have to create a Complaint based on a R3 Media Object (Subscription Order), and then allow editing this complaint in SAP CRM.
I have already reached the first part. Over and done with a transaction launcher, I'm displaying and editing the Subscription Order from my CRM User Interface (but in R3), and I created complaints starting from the Order position as the requirement.
Now, I need to replicate these complaints to CRM in order to update and edit these documents for the case the client call again and the Media IC Agent wants to search for this complaint.
The question is: Could I replicate these complaints from R3 to CRM? In case of I yes, what would be the best CRM object to mapping my R3 complaint? And last but not least, the replication must be done through some middleware customizing?
    I appreciate any approach.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nicolas

    Hi Prashant,
    Thanks for the reply.
The reason why I won't create my complaint in SAP CRM is because I don't have the Subscription Order Object in CRM it is in ECC Media instead.
As I creating that complaint in reference to some positions of the Subscription Order, in case I create it straight in CRM I'm not allowed to do some validations regarding to dates, and existence, information that is only in ECC.
For instance, I have the requirement to make a complaint regarding to the delivery of the newspaper, for the case where the client did not receive it. To validate the days in which the client is subscribed, I have to contrast information with the Media Order, because that information isn't in CRM.
    Thanks in advance,

  • ICI - How to display custom error messages in SAP CRM

    Hello,
we are working on a custom Contact Center which interfaces with SAP CRM Version 7 with Enhancement Package over ICI.
The basic call functions like accepting, hanging up, holding and retrieving are fully implemented and are working already.
Our goal is to display error messages in the CRM so that clients know there is something wrong, for example why he can't be log in successfully (e.g. the telephony server isn't reachable).
We already found the ICI Documentation file which provides us the CRM SOAP error codes and tried to send SOAP Fault messages, but never got
    them to screen.
Please find an attached example screenshot what we mean exactly, reproduced by trying to make a call with CRM user while BCM CDT isn't
    running in the background.
Regarding to this topic we've the following questions:
    - Is it possible to display custom error messages on the CRM or is this functionality limited to SAP?
    - Could you provide us some further information on how to use this feature exactly (implementation details?) and how the SOAP XML should look like to get it work?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards

I need to create an entity adapter and attach an error handler with the adapter? or can i handle that in the event handler itself. I coulnt find any api for handling errorsYou can do it both ways but since we are talking about event handler now, then in 9.x you need to extend com.thortech.xl.client.events.tcBaseEvent class for creating a event handler. In tcBaseEvent class there are various flavors of handleError method. So use that as per my note earlier and you should be good.
