Multi-Select prompt for Calendar Year range of values

Hi All,
I three prompts and one of them is a Multi-Select i.e Calendar_Year as i the user can select a range of years or random years like 2005,2008,2007 or 2005-2007. What do i need to do in the report so that the report(pivot table) can display the data accordingly. Presentation Variable is not possible as the option goes off when i select the multi-select, i using Guided Navigation in my report.

    Hi everyone
    Please assist on this issue:
    i have created a Bex report that has an offset for 12 months from the current calender month, i tried to use text variables to replace the calender months but i just learned now text variables from Bex dont work in BO, so I would like to create a prompt in BO to enter Calendar Year and then based on the input(Calender Year) the Webi report must display a 12 months for that Year.
    Please also indicate where exactly  i have to click in order to get that "Helpful icon "  when the my issues have been resolved, because i searched it and havent seen it anywhere on the communications

    In BO I recieve my all months for existing data  and when i create a prompt for Calender Year the months in the report still has those text varibale for exampl if i enter 2011 on the prompt the text remains for the year that was already there wen i created my text variable... so its not dynamic.....
    So if i have text variables in Bex it will display like this in Webi in which it wont change if i put in 2011 as input for the prompt...

  • Multi-select prompt for BI Publisher SQL report in Dashboard?

    Is there any way to populate a presentation variable from a multi-select dashboard prompt?
    I have a BIP report using a SQL data source, and it will be presented on an OBIEE dashboard. Since the only apparent method for prompting a SQL BIP report from a dashboard prompt is to use presentation variables, and it appears that you can only set presentation variables using non-multi-select controls, it looks like there's no way to do this.
    Any ideas?

    I tried using BI Answers to feed this report but it ended up being too cumbersome because of the number of queries and the awkward XML data names generated on calculated fields. Those were the main reasons for SQL data sources. I was able to cut the report from 10 queries down to 2, and assign meaningful XML data names. The report runs much faster and works very well. I am using bind variables, but the only way to populate them (apparently) is to use presentation varibles, which are not populated on a multi-select prompt.

    Is it possible to pass multi-select dashboard prompts to direct database requests?
    I have a report based on direct database request that needs the ability to run for all customers or the selected combination of customers.
    For example:

    Here pCustomerPrompt is a multi-select prompt for customers.

    I am not sure exactly whether it could be possible..
    One info I can share you is: we cannot assign a Presentation Variable to a Multi-Select prompt...

    The main point is to show which values stored in multi-select prompt for end-user on the dashboard.

    Nic, for me the iTunes window looks like this, when I connect my iPad 3:
    I select the iPad in the "devices" section of the Sidebar (use: "View > Show Sidebar" if the sidebar is hidden).
    Click the "Apps" tab in the "Devices" pane.
    Scroll all the way down in the Devices pane to "File Sharing" "Apps" section.
    Then do I click "GarageBand" to select the documents in the right panel.
    Which part is different for you? Perhaps you could post a screenshot?

  • Fiscal year variant is not maintained for calendar year 2009

    Hi,
    After upgrade to BI 7.0 we are getting error: "Fiscal year variant & is not maintained for calendar year 2009" while opening a query through Bex Analyzer.
    Basically it is happening like when we open a particular query, the Variable selection screen comes up, then on clicking the exection button (after selection) it shows SYSTEM_FAILURE exception & clicking the details button, shows the message ""Fiscal year variant is not maintained for calendar year 2009"
    Please provide some information/resolution to this.

    HI,
    Please ensure that you have defined your fiscal year variant in OB29
    correctly.  It is necessary that:
      1.  the previous year has been maintained,
      2.  an entry for Dec 31 exists in each fiscal year,
      3.  the following fiscal year has been maintained.

    Dear Experts,
    We are working on BI7.0 extracting data from ECC 6.0.
    I am trying to load data from 0HR_PY_PP_1 which is a Self DataSource in our BW System (extracts data from 0EMPLOYEE and 0PERSON) to load into ZPA_C50 which is a copy of BCT InfoCube 0PAPA_C02 (Headcount).
    The data has come through into the PSA very well.
    However, DTP is throwing an error while loading 32242 records of data from PSA into ZPA_C50 InfoCube. The error details as below:
    Error while updating to target ZPA_C50 (type INFOCUBE)
    Fiscal year variant Z1 is not maintained for calendar year 2012     FGV     2
    Messages for 1 data records saved; request is red acc. to configuration
    Processing Terminated
    We are actually doing a Re-implementation of BW 3.0b in BI 7.0 Ehp1. We have imported Maintenance of Fiscal Year Variant from the BW 3.0b Production System. So this shouldn't be a problem I guess since I have also checked the setting in SPRO in BI 7.0 Development (New) System and they are looking good.
    Also, when I do a Filter on 0CALDAY in DTP from 01.01.1900 to 31.12.2010, the loads are working fine. I want the load to run without any Filters on 0CALDAY.
    Has anyone been in similar situation. How did you resolve this issue? Your time is very much appreciated.

    We have resolved this issue ourselves. We have maintained 'Shortened Fiscal Years' for 'Z1' and it is working fine now. Steps are as below:
    In BI Dev System -> SPRO -> SAP Reference IMG -> SAP Customizing Implementation Guide -> SAP NetWeaver -> Business Intelligence -> General BI Settings -> Maintain fiscal year variant -> Select 'Z1' Fiscal Year Variant and then DoubleClick on 'Shortened Fiscal Years' to set the Fisc Year Variant -> Save.
    The dataload should work fine now.

        i have a requirement of creating offset for calendar year/month.Basically i have a characteristic in Rows and volume key figure in Column and i have to put that volume under the calender year /month which is shown below ..

    how can i create a report for this . by using volume key figure i am creating previous volume and present volume,. how can i put them in key figure do i have to create any structure, selections  for that.... and "" how can i get the present year volume and previous year volume. If i use cal year/month how can i create offset for that.....

    I think you need data year wise .
    Instead of creating a variable for calmonth and using it in the RKF , you can just drag calyear in columns and keep the Volume keyfigure below it . Keep only one keyfigure Volume and do not restrict it with calmonth or any other variable .
    In this case calyear should not be present in rows or free characteristics .
    You would be able to see the data year wise ..
    Try this and check whether it is according to your requirement
    If You need to show the data as Volume (01.2011)  and Volume(01.2010)
    It means you are only showing data for Jan 2011 and Jan 2010 in the report
    In this case you can retrict Volume keyfigure with a variable and create a customer exit variable
    for 0calmonth as an offset of -1 will bring the data of 12.2010 for Previous Volume(01.2010) key figure which is incorrect .
    For your output you can create 2 customer exit variables :
    One will restrict 0calmonth to current year and another to previous year .
    Check whether this works .
    Also , if you want to show current calendar months data , you can either use a mandatory variable on 0calmonth
    and restrict the same in volume keyfigure or there are std customer exit variable provided by SAP to give current cal month .
    You can restrict the char 0calmonth with this std exit variable if you do not want 0calmonth variable to be mandatory.

    i hope 2010 fiscal variants are not mainiatined in ur bi system
    please do this operation..
    Go to RSA1-> source systems->select R/3 system -> right click->Transfer global settings->Fiscal year varaints->rebuild tables
    then try to repeat the load...the load will be fine if the calender is maintained in R/3 if not raise this issue to the functional people...

    The Scenario is like, we have data level security on "Unit" attribute. now based on the user selection when user logs in he should able to see the report only for those units which he/she has access.
    in total we have 1800 units available, now for 5-10 units access is fine, but the question will arise when user will not have only some units access from 1800 units.
    because report will not take those values from the multi-select prompt reason is that multi-select prompt is not able to take more then certain values in selected side.
    now in multi-select until-unless u have data coming in selected side those values will not pass. so i have kept the sql in default for that prompt.
    so when user logs in he will able to see those values in selected side for the multi-select prompt, but when values increase from some level it's going automatically in un-selected side.
    i want everything on selected side of multi-select prompt.

    Its what is there today. I believe that multi select will be available via the look up type prompt in the future but for now its what you see is what you get :0(

    If a multi-select prompt doesn't have a value, it shows as blank, which
    technically means "%" ie. all values. Is it possible to display the text 'All Choices' so that users understand that the reports are based on all values of that blank prompt field.

    If we enter the text 'All Choices' as the default to in the prompt then this value is checked against the other values for this column in the table. Eg: - If we want Name to be the multi-select prompt. There is no match for 'All Choices' in the database table and the report does not return any rows. We need a functionality similar to the one available for drop-down list control. For drop-down control OBIEE by default offers the option 'All Choices' which in the query is used as %. In drop down we can only select one name at a time or All. The user needs to have the flexibility to either select multiple names or select an option All Choices which will return all results.
    Any suggestions on this.

    3. Activation of M records from DataStore object ZDS_GLCD terminated.
    4. Process 000015 returned with errors.

    Hi,
    Check the table T009B, see whether the fiscal year variant 01 for the year 2007 is maintained or not. If it is not maintained, then go to rsa1, select ur source system and on the context menu select "Transfer Global Settings".

  • Combo Prompt Design (with Drop down and Multi-select prompts)

    Hi folks,
    I have the following prompt design requirement in OBIEE dashboard:
    PromptA: should be a drop-down prompt
    PromptB: should be a multi-select prompt
    PromptB should list the values contained in either of two dimensions (lets say: Product Names and Product Group Names ). Lets define Product Names to be the names of individual products, while the Product Group Names is the names of a predefined collection of certain products.
    The string values that should appear in the PromptA then are: Product Names and Product Group Names. Consequent to the selection made in PromptA, values from one of these two dimensions should be dynamically displayed in PromptB. That is, if Product Names is selected from PromptA, then all product names from the Product Names dimension should be listed in PromptB. And if Product Group Names is selected from PromptA, then all product group names from the Product Group Names dimension should be listed in PromptB.
    Can anyone tell me how do I relate the above two prompts and have my reports to work accordingly?

    For this you have to do two dashboard prompt
    In promptA:
    select one dummy column,
    In control dropdown list select dropdown
    In show dropdown list select SQL Results
    In sql results write the following query
    Select case when 1=0 then tabelname.column else 'Tablename.ProductNames' end from subjectarea name
    Union all
    Select case when 1=0 then tablename.column else 'Tablename.ProductGroupName' end from subject are name
    In set variable ->set presentation variable called var1
    Saved it as PromptA
    In PromptB:
    Select one dummy column in that column forumla write @{var1}
    but problem with this approach it shows two Go buttons for two prompts to avoide this create custom Go button
