  • Guest VLAN unable to get DHCP IP address from Anchor Controller

    Hello everybody,
In our test set up, we have two WLC 5508 Controllers connected via Checkpoint UTM-1 firewall Inside and DMZ Interfaces. Both the WLC controllers are connected to the firewall via Cisco 3750 switch. On the Local (Inside) Controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the wireless management Interface. On the remote anchor controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the Management Interface as well. The following configs are replicated on both the Controllers.
    SSID Name - guest
Interface - Management ( VLAN 10 on Local and VLAN 20 on remote) -
Mobility Group: Same configs at both ends
SSID Anchor : Anchor SSID on local and local SSID on Anchor.
    AP: CAPWAP 3502 Management Subnet
SSID Security etc all defaults and matching on  both ends
Checkpoint Firewall Rules: Allowed 16666-7, IP 97 etc on the firewall
Checkpoint Inside/DMZ to Outside(Internet) is NAT enabled.
EoIP Tunnel Status: Up, UP - Both ends
    Mping - OK
    eping - OK
WLC Sofware Version on Local - 7.0.98.0
WLC Sofware Version on Local - 7.0.116.0
DHCP Scope: Definitions on Anchor Controller and Guest Anchor SSID points to the Anchor management IP as the Primary DHCP server.
Management IP Subnet on Local: 10.x.x.x
Management IP Subnet on Anchor: 172.x.x.x
    The problem definition as follows:
When guest SSID associates to the local AP, the guest SSID never gets a DHCP address assigned from the Anchor Controller and the following debugs are obtained.
    1. WLAN ID 1 (for Guest SSID Number) delete message appears in the Controller message logs, but the SSID does not DHCP from the local Management Subnet and i can see DHCP request via the tunnel to the Anchor WLC as follows:

Is there any thing missing in the wireless configs and or the firewall rules as i could not see DHCP request back from the Anchor Controller. Also, after DHCP is obtained, the web authentication request will be redirected to an Amigopod device for authentication. In this case is the redirect URL congiguration to be performed only on the Anchor Controller or is this to be replicated on both the Local and Anchor Controllers.
    Thanks and Regards.

The DHCP issue is resolved if external DHCP server is configured on a 3750 switch connected to the WLC and the default gateway for DHCP points to the Firewall, which is in the data path between the Inside and Anchor Controllers. DHCP is essentially bridged (no Proxy setting now) from the EoIP tunnel to the Distribution system network. We will test this solution on pilot production and then consider upgrading to 7.0.116.0, as there are about six offices running 7.0.98.0, which will need to be upgraded.
For L3 security,  configuration is set up on both the controllers for external captive portal redirection.I will try this only on the Anchor and revert.
Thanks again very much for all your help.

  • Multi SSID

    Hi!
We are new to configuring multi SSID for WIFI networks. We have one "CISCO WAP4410N" and one "CISCO SG 200-50 50-Port Gigabit Smart Switch". The switch is working on default vlan1. The domain users are getting IP Addresses from Windows DHCP Server. We have created a sub interface for our default LAN Network in our Firewall and assigned it a VLAN id of 100 and same thing on our WAP. There are now two SSIDs, one for domain users and another for visitors.
Wireless for Domain Users is working fine but the Visitors are unable to get the IP addresses from our Firewall DHCP. We know this is due to the missing configuration in the switch.
Can we have the commands or screen shots of the "SG 200-50 50-Port Gigabit Smart Switch" VLAN configuration as per our requirements?
Secondly, what should be the proper settings as per the attached screen shot. Should we tag the default vlan1 or leave it untagged and what should be the priority settings?
    Thanks.

This document provides a configuration example for a guest wireless LAN (WLAN) and a secure internal WLAN that use WLAN controllers (WLCs) and lightweight access points (LAPs). In the configuration in this document, the guest WLAN uses web authentication to authenticate users and the secure internal WLAN uses Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) authentication.

  • Multi-SSID Setup

Hello all. I"m trying to better understand multi-SSID and what better way to do that than to get my hands dirty! Unfortunately, I'm stuck and could use some assistance. I'm able to successfully connect to one SSID, the internal or corporate, but cannot get connected to guest SSID. I've attached my topology and Catalyst config, but here is what I've done thus far.
    1. Created three new interfaces on the controller. One for management (10.52.x.x), one for guest (10.1.x.x) and the last for internal (10.65.x.x). All interfaces are using port 1 as the physical port and each have unique addresses (DHCP, Gateway etc) and vlan ID's assigned.
    2. Next, I created two SSIDs (guest and internal) and assigned them to the matching interfaces I created in the previous step.
    3. Configured and permitted all VLANs over the trunk links on the switch.
Please let me know if I've forgotten to add any pertinent information.

I've changed FA 0/8 to an access port in the native vlan. I do obtain an IP address when directly connecting my PC to the switch. I'm leaving my guest SSID as open authentication since this is just a test environment. After making these changes, I still cannot connect to the guest SSID. My internal SSID works flawlessly. I temporarily disabled DHCP requirement on the guest SSID and configured a static address on my laptop and was able connect with no issue. Seems the problem lies with DHCP..

  • VMclients unable to get the IP address

We have a anchor Foreign WLAN setup . The SSID is using the L3 webauth security . The SSID is anchored to the anchor controller . The setup is working fine that the clients get the webpage from the anchor controller and the IP as expected . The issue is that VM clients in the nettwork is not able to get the ip address .
Documents states that this is a limitation of cisco and inorder to overcome the issue we need to enable the Passive client option on the SSID .
Since we are using the L3 security i am not able to enable the Passive client option .
Hence i need to configure a SSID with L2 prifile in the anchor foreign setup ( need to get the IP range from the Anchor dynamic interface ) and the VM should get the IP . Please help me to get this done
    thanks in Advance
    Nishad

    Hi Nishad,
    See this post:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/329343
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2065405
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2087163
Starting in 7.0.116.0, cisco added support for non-cisco WGBs with the  passive client feature on a wlan. This feature will also apply to VMware  and virtual clients -- it is available on the 2100, 2500, 5500 WLCs,  although it is not available on the 4400 series (WISM/3750) due to  architecture limitations.
you can try enabling the passive client feature on your WLAN to see if this helps resolve the issue.

  • Wireless 2504,user not getting dhcp ip address

Hi i have configured wlc 2504 .in that i have configured two interfaces.one is guest, 2nd is internal user,
the pblm when user try to connect with that contain ssid user not getting ip address,
i have connected only one link between core to wlc on port 1.for guest interface i used port 4.but no physical link.
    Please help this

There are multiple ways how the clients can get their IP-address in a WLC deployment.
    From the WLC-FAQ:
How does DHCP work with the WLC?
    A. The WLC is designed to act as a DHCP relay agent to the external DHCP server and acts like a DHCP server to the client. This is the sequence of events that occurs:
Generally, WLAN is tied to an interface which is configured with a DHCP server.
When the WLC receives a DHCP request from the client on a WLAN, it relays the request to the DHCP server with its management IP address.
The WLC shows its Virtual IP address, which must be a non-routable address, usually configured as 1.1.1.1, as the DHCP server to the client.
The WLC forwards the DHCP reply from the DHCP server to the wireless client with its Virtual IP address.Note: You can also configure the WLC to act as a DHCP server. For more information on how to configure a WLC as a DHCP server, refer to the Configuring DHCP Scopes section of the document Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Configuration Guide Release 5.1.
If you want more in-depth information you should read "DHCP with the WLC":

  • Multi SSID problem, not work

    hi
I bought a Cisco WRVS4400n to use with different vlan and ssid, I use a Cisco Catalyst behind my new WRV, on sigle ssid mode and without Vlans configured, worked perfectly, but, on trunking mode with multi ssid on different vlans ( to use public and private wifi on differents vlans), doesnt work
    this is my configuration
    Vlan 3, private, with wpa2
Vlan 6, public, with nocat server.
in port 1 of WRV, trunknig mode, vlan3 tagged, vlan6 tagged
in port 8 of Catalyst, trunking mode, vlan3 tagged, vlan6 tagged
I don't need configure DHCP server, I have on both lans.
wifi clients don't cross trough the router to LANS, my dhcp server don´t give IP to client, becouse can't connect. neither when I force a valid IP address.
    thanks

  • WRV200 multi SSID problem

Hi. now i'm using WRV200 Router model.(use Multi SSID)
    - first and second SSID and encryption method is WPA-PSK, working well and no problem.
    - third SSID is working well first day, but next day, can be search SSID, but not getting a IP and connection failed.
(if appear this enter administrator mode, not changed any other information, just click to save settings, then i use third SSID in oneday)
    - third SSID encryption method is WEP
    - Channels are used to channel 6
    - in this case, how can i fixed it?
is this problem, SSID's problems? or channel's proble?
why occur to multi SSID problem?
    pls help me

The goal is to create one WLAN (wifi) with wpa2 and mac filtering that connect direcly to the physical network with server access, and the other WLAN (public) with only wpa2 protection and in isolated VLAN, for the guest.
Suppose to have two SSID wifi and public (the second in the router web ui), both WPA2 Personal w/o MAC Filtering and w/o VLAN.
    I use only PC.
With my laptop (windows 7) and two other laptop (win XP, win 7), I can see both SSID in wireless list, can connect to the first SSID.
When I try to connect to the second SSID, the connection fail
In the attachment you can see the actual router configuration.
In the page Status -> Wireless LAN, ONLY one SSID is displayed (but is this web ui bug?).
    Thanks in advance

  • Vertical line issue - How can we get Apple to address this?

    Hi guys,
As can be seen in this forum (and a lot of other forums, as well), a lot of people are experiencing this problem on their 17" iMac G5 with iSight. Here are some pertinent details (which may be familiar to a lot of people but can be a primer for those who are just starting to experience the problem):
    1. For most of us, these lines started appearing between 13-15 months after they purchased them. The lucky ones either had these failures occur during the first 12 months, or had APP.
    2. The majority of these units can be traced to the Shanghai factory W8 (enter your S/N in this website to get the manufacturing information of your unit: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html).
    3. A similar issue occurred (or is occurring) with 17" PBs. From what I have read on the Apple PB forums, it seems that this has been a long standing issue and Apple has SUPPOSEDLY attempted to censor some of the posts discussing this. Note that these units can also be traced back to the same Shanghai factory.
    4. The "iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Video and Power Issues" which certain people have always been referring users to on posts discussing this type of problem obviously refers to a totally different issue (http://www.apple.com/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/) and is applicable only to first gen iMac G5s. I'm sure that everyone appreciates it but, at this point, it is quite clear that it is not the solution to our problem.
    5. Based on the number of posts discussing this very same problem in the Apple forums, it is pretty obvious that these are not isolated issues. There are too many similarities (time of failure, how the numbers of line increase over time, manufacturing source, etc.)
    6. Some people have suggested that unstable power sources may be the primary cause of the problem. However, based on the locations of the people with these problems who have posted in this forum, it seems unlikely. From what I can see, the problem happens whether you are from a highly industrialized country (where a stable power source can be expected) or a developing country (where power sources MAY be more unstable).
    7. Apple has typically responded (to anyone who has taken the time to write or have their iMacs inspected) that this is not a known manufacturing defect issue. As such, the cost to repair this problem, which can go up to USD 500, will have to be borne by the owner.
    8. Based on posts of some people who have had their units repaired, it is the LCD that has to be replaced. This is also supported by posts from people who have resorted to purchase a separate display as a workaround.
Now, the question is, *how do we get Apple to address this issue*? Do we all start writing Steve Jobs about it? Do we go to the press? Should we put up a website and Digg it to death? A spoof video on YouTube? MySpace? Or will we just suffer in silence? Suggestions anyone?
P.S. Suggestions that involve any sort of violence or industrial sabotage are not acceptable, please.
Note that Ale_Tog has put up a Flickr page where we can post photos of our poor iMacs. Just send the photo to [email protected] with the subject "Dead pixels on iMac". No text, just the photo attachment. (+Ale_Tog, if you read this, I hope you don't mind me posting this here. Also, I suggest that we at least put the first 5 chars of the serial number, the factory information which can be retrieved on the link in #2 above, and which country the unit is based.+). I highly recommend that everyone send a photo to show that these are not isolated issues.
To get an idea on how many people are experiencing this problem, here are a list of posts in these forums, as well as others, discussing this issue (feel free to add to this):

Please start sending your suggestions. The more the many-ier!

Yep. I feel Apple's 1 year manufacturer warranty for the iMac is not adequate, especially for an all-in-one unit with a relatively high price.
My iMac G5 started displaying a vertical cyan line about 4 weeks ago, only about 19-20 months after I bought it for Christmas in 2005.
I called up Apple to enquire what could be done and was told by their customer service that a rather long period had elasped since the warranty expired in 2006. So I was told to take the iMac to an authorised repair centre and Apple will not contribute to the cost of the repair.
I expect respectable service life from my computer and anything less than 5 years is totally unacceptable. Thus I seriously question the value proposition for the iMac in this respect. Does it mean that I have to replace my iMac every 2 years? The computer still feel reasonably zippy, I still have plenty of space left on my hard drive, but the screen is failing ...
Today another line (green) appeared on the screen ...
It is my understanding that a number of LCD monitor manufacturers are now providing 3 year warranties for their products. Now why should Apple only provide a 1 year warranty? Especially when the replacement option will cost more than buying an entire new LCD monitor with even better specifications?
Based on the number of responeses I have seen here, this is not a rare occurance and I seriously question their quality control in their manufacturing process. I think Apple should be responsible for these repairs, and also provide a 3-year warranty for their LCD screens.
My iMac's serial number is W8548Zxxxxx.
Sincerely yours, an unhappy Apple customer.

Whenever I update my iPhone software, it asks me to sign in to iCloud with an old email address.  My other devices all have the correct address.  How can I get the correct address for my iPhone?  The only Apple ID that works for logging in is my new one.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • I've recently moved to UK from US  and cannot get my billing address changed from a US one to UK therefore can't make any purchases.Have tried setting up new email address for new accnt but always ends up identifying me in US.Is this to do with my laptop?

In a roaming network, your "main" router is the device that would require port mapping/forwarding to be configured in order to access the IP camera from the Internet. This router is also the one that would be provide the private IP address for the camera which you will want to be a static one.
So as you described your network, the IP cameras should be getting an IP address or you assigned it a static one and this is the address that you would enter in the Private IP address (or equivalent depending on the router used) field when setting up port mapping.
If you are not able to access this camera from the local network, then this should be troubleshot first.

  • How can I get the MAC address of my Apple TV?

How can I get the MAC address of my Apple TV? I currently do not have an HDMI device to connect it to, and the MAC is not listed on the box or the Apple TV itself.
(to answer the obvious, I am trying to pair it with an iPad, and I need to register the Apple TV for the network so the two can see each other)

As long as I know java doesn't have support to work on link-layer, only internet and transport layers. You may write simple native code. On windows, IP Helper functions, like SendARP allow you to pass an IP address and get the hardware address. You store the hardware address on your database/file and later, when that machine is off, you send a frame to the address you stored previous.

I haven't seen it on Linux, but if you need help let me know I'll check the Linux API's too.

I had to do a re-install of Thunderbird after a crash. How do I get my old address book into my new one? There are only a few of the contacts I had, so there must be a location where the rest are, but not sure where to look. And once I find them (with your help), how do I get them into the address book?

If you copy abook.mab or history.mab into a profile folder, they will show up as Personal Address Book and Collected Addresses. But if the mab files have names other than abook or history, they can only be imported to TB with the use of [https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html MoreFunctionsForAddressBook].
