Multi-tiers clustering problem: NameNotFoundException

Hi All
I am trying multi-tier clustering when I encounter an unexpected naming
exception. Following is the scenario.
1) There are two clusters: [webcluster] and [servercluster]. They are
in the same administration domain.
2) Each of them has only one server: [cscweb] and [cscserver].
3) Cluster addresses are [node177.truetel.com.tw:7001] and
[node177.truetel.com.tw:7003] respectively.
4) war files are deployed to [webcluster] while ejb jars are
deployed to [servercluster], supposedly.
My problem is that, if all the war files and jar files are deployed on
BOTH clusters, then the application runs smoothly. However,
if they are deployed as in step 4, then the unexpected
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException will be thrown.
If I also deployed SOME of the ejb jars to the [webcluster], then the
application can run until it fails to locate the ejbs not deployed on
the [webcluster]. A javax.naming.NameNotFoundException will be
thrown then.
It seems to be a JNDI problem where ejbs not in the same cluster
could not be located. Can this be fixed?
Any help will be appreciated,
Lynch

Hi All,
My Problem is after configured the mulit-owner diskset of SVM. If either one node has been restarted/rebooted. The rebooted node can't join back to the diskset like below status. I have tried to use some metaset commands to put the rebooted node to join backed the diskset but failed.
After both nodes rebooted. Then I run "metaset" command on both nodes, the status seems can't synchronize. "See below status for detail"

Hi Tim/All,
I have party fixed the multi-owner diskset problem after create the resource for SUNW.rac_framework, SUNW.rac_udlm & SUNW.rac_svm. But the new problem is generated. The new problem is if two nodes are up, then the multi-owner diskset can be access via two nodes. But if either one node is down, the remain node cant access the diskset (but the scstat status is fine). For example: node2 is down, node1 is up. Then multi-owner diskset membership of node1 is lost. If node1 is down, node2 is up. Then multi-owner diskset membership of node2 is lost. After both nodes become online, the diskset will resume to normal and can be access.

• SQL Server 2012 Multi-Site clustering with 2 nodes for HA and DR

Usually we setup 2 Node Prod cluster for Local HA and 1 or 2 Nodes in other data centre for DR
Given that we have an option to setup multi-site / multi-subnet clustering from SQL 2008 R2/2012. I am planning to use just 2 nodes, 1 in prod data centre and 1 in DR data centre with 2 or 3 instances. This will act as both HA and DR solution.
I would like to know if this solution is good, and any disadvantages, any best practices, etc.? By implementing this I can save some cost on physical servers.
Following will be configured:
* Will be using different subnets, quorum on different server with "Node and File Share Majority"
* All virtual IPs will be registered for virtual name, and Subnetdelay, Subnet threshold will be modified accordingly
* All nodes on same domain
* Use SAN Disk with replication to DR site

SQL 2008 R2 doesn't support multi-subnet clustering. You would still need 3rd party component like VLAN and Disk Replication. SQL 2012 is the first version to support multi-subnet clustering without using VLAN. you would still need disk replication hardware/software.
Taken from my book
Since nodes are often located in two different data centers at geographically dispersed locations, there is no shared storage between the nodes in a multi-site cluster. Clustering across two different data centers provides a higher level of availability and
protection at the storage level as we have more than a single copy of the data.
For SAN replication technology implemented in such clusters, the main activity is to keep data replicated between the sites. Typically, if we have nodes on two different sites, we would have two different network infrastructures and the nodes would be in
different subnets. In such cases, if we are on a SQL Server version before 2012, we need to use third party VLAN (Virtual LAN) technology so that one IP address travels between two sites. This is called wide-IP. Companies hesitate with this solution because
of the need to buy a third party solution to deploy the VLAN. Using VLAN technology means the same IP address would failover to the remote site in case of a local site disaster. Network administration might consider this as an overhead to maintenance and an
extra piece of the networking component that needs to be secure.
With SQL Server 2012 we do not need to use stretch VLAN technology but SAN replication is still needed for multi-site clustering. The OS version for this can be from Windows Server 2008 R2 and above. In this deployment, we can have a SQL virtual network
name having an “OR” dependency on two different IP addresses. One address would be representing each subnet. With the “OR” dependency, if IP1 or IP2 is online we just use the network name. This is one of the Enterprise Editions only features.
Other option which you can think of, without using 3rd party solutions would be AlwaysOn Availability Group. I have written details about it in my book.

• Multi-tier clustering

Hi,
I am trying to configure multi-tier clustering.
Configured 2 clusters each with one machine and one WLS.
Set up the JNDI lookup on machine 1 as below:
Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
ht.pu(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
ht.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://machine2:port");
Deployed web app on machine. Ejbs on the other.
Machine1 has all the necessary home and remote interface of
the ejbs on Machine2.
Webapp gives me the following error:
javax.naming.CommunicationException [Root exception is weblogic.rmi.UnmarshalException:
Unmarshalling return
- with nested exception:
[java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: class com.edocs.enrollment.user.AccountBeanHomeImpl_ServiceStub
previously not found]]
Any one know what I am missing?
Thanks,
Sreeni

I tried that. It passed that error and was giving a jndi link error.
My ejb jndi name is "edx/ejb/PWCConfig". It gives the whole name
as the remaining name. I did not set the provider URL for this
bean as this is not exposed to the webApp.
My understanding is that if I have the home and remote interface
is good enough.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks,

• JRun multi-svr clustering seems to disconnect on reboot

i have recently upgraded to mx 7 and have the multi-server
configuration set up with 2 identical instances on the same
machine, added to a cluster. these each have 5 websites using IIS
6.
after the cluster was made, i ran the webserver config tool
and choose all sites and chose the cluster name and all is well.
until i have to reboot, in which case the sites display an
iis error about the page cannot be displayed, 403 error.
if i open the webserver config tool and remove the cluster
then re-add it, it works fine, until the next reboot, etc. etc.
does anyone know why this would be happening?
for what it's worth, i am also fine tuning the windows NLB
and need to reboot to test, which is how i found this problem.
i have never had a clustering question answered here, so
maybe my luck will change this time...
thanks so much

Hi \HDL and welcome to Apple Discussions!
Do you know someone with another power adapter you can use to test with? I would try that first, to isolate the problem to one or the other, before you make your purchase.
If not, I would suggest carrying the MacBook in to an Apple retail store to let them make the diagnosis. Be sure to [make an appointment|www.apple.com/retail] first or you may spend a long time waiting to talk to a Mac Genius.
Best of luck.

• Multi-Master replication problems

Multi Master Servers consists of 2 servers.
For this, the Sync function is satisfied.
But I think it's some problems.
If Master 2 Server is dead, only Master 1 saves updated data.
Master 2 starts service again after recovery.
At that time, if clients try to read the data before master 1 and master 2 make sync, isn’t it any problem?
(Because Master 2 data is not update.I know that auto sync time is not immediately ).
How can i solve thie problem.
Please give me the answer.

You will need to manually trigger Master 1 to send the update to Master 2. In worst case, you may need to re-initialize Master 2.

• Hp officejet pro 8600 multi-card reader problem

Have officejet 8600 printer/fax with multi-card reader. All worked fine when wired to Apple computer before. Went wireless last week...set up router etc. All worked fine till I tried to load an sd camera card in the printer like i had done many times before. Doesn't recognize the multi-drive...all lights start to flash..tells me i need to turn printer off/on to continue....NEVER does recognize the card reader!...
I remember there was an update from Apple that had to do with printer drivers on Oct.15th....could that be the problem or do I need to set something else because of the wireless setup?
The printer works fine otherwise....it does recognize the wireless connection for straight printing. I haven't tried the fax part yet.

Hi lincon50
I understand the memory card isn't being recognized since the wireless setup and the apple update.
Please take a look at the post from pcwizard and give it a try.

My multi-room DVR (new - installed in April) is repeatedly having issues lately. Once about two weeks ago we turned it on and, though the FiOS live TV option was working fine, the DVR button brought us to a screen saying something about how the multiroom DVR is unavailable and to try unplugging it. There were no recordings. We did unplug it and leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes. When we plugged it back in it was working again but no programs or scheduled recordings were saved. It was like starting from scratch and we were frustrated, but we thought the problem was solved.
Since then the same thing has happened three more times. The third time I live chatted with a Verizon support tech and she ran some remote tests and reset the machine and it worked. The saved and scheduled recordings were back too, but one scheduled recording just hadn't been recorded (probably because the issue was happening with the DVR all afternoon without us knowing and so it wasn't able to record. Today it happened again (for the fourth time) and I went on FiOS support troubleshooting. A reset of the machine worked, and our couple of recordings that we have had since the last time this happened are still there.
So the problem seems to be getting better. But, I'm still frustrated because I don't understand what the underlying problem is and how to fix it. I don't want to be doing this troubleshooting every day. Especially because if it malfunctions while I'm at work or, even worse, away for a week it won't record my shows. What's the point of having a DVR if I can't be sure that my shows will be saved for me to watch at my convenience?
Does anyone know what might be wrong with the machine or its settings and how I can make sure this doesn't keep happening on a regular basis?
Thanks,
Emily

Hi Emily - I sent you a message to get some more information about your DVR issues. Please respond when you're able. Thanks -- Karl

• Clustering Problem

Hi Guys ,
How should scaling of Weblogic applications being accessed by t3 protocol to be
done .
Consider the following scenario :
Weblogic server A hosts an application which in turn uses t3 protocol to contact
applications hosting in Weblogic Server B. Web Client talks to Weblogic Server
A using IIS Proxy dll. While scaling this set up we can Cluster applications running
on Weblogic Server A .IIS Proxy dll is able to route the requests to Weblogic
Server A clusters.
How should the Weblogic Server B cluster setup to be done ?
Any thoughts on this is welcome.
Thanks & Regards,
Kumar

Actually architecture is such that we need to have Server B separately as it may
host some common functionalities used by multiple applications . So we cannot
merge those two. I am using iisproxy.dll to point to my cluster address for Server
A (Comma separated address) and it is working fine.
Now my Server B is being used by Server A (it is a configuration XML file) where
we specify server B's IP and port number , use t3 protocol to contact Server B.
I am not having a DNS Server to resolve the DNS Name to multiple IP addresses
of cluster. So I am not sure as to how to specify the cluster address for Server
B.
Note: As we have an option of specifying comma separated IP address values in
iisproxy.ini file . Is there any way to specify the cluster address for Server
B.

• Not the end of the world, multi button mouse problem.

Hi there, I have a Microsoft multi button mouse which works fine in Leopard. I have configured 2 of the buttons for Command+H (Hide), and Command+W (Close). The buttons work fine everywhere except one place, and that's System Preferences.
I have added a custom configuration for System Prefs, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem either. It isn't the end of the world, but it would be nice if it did work.
Thanks,
Anil.

Hi Topher,
I am using the latest driver from Microsoft, and the mouse works fine everywhere else except System Prefs. I haven't tried USB Overdrive because the Microsoft driver has a very nice front end which makes configuring the mouse very easy.
Thanks,
Anil.

• Clustering Problem on WLS 5.1 sp 2/3

• Load Balancing of 2-Tiered vs 3-Tiered Clustering

Hi,
I was looking at the cluster diagrams on the clustering page:
http://www.weblogic.com/docs60/cluster/index.html
And I can't help notice a slight descrepency between the diagram of a 2-Tier
cluster (WL web cluster + WL app cluster) vs.a 3-Tier cluster (web
proxy-plugin + WL web cluster + WL app cluster).
In the 2-Tier diagram, the arrows going from the web nodes to the app nodes
converges to a single point, indicating that there's load balancing of
servlet calls to ejbs.
In the 3-Tier diagram, the arrows from each web node point directly to an
app node, which seems to indicate that there is a static one-to-one
relationship, hence no load-balancing. Below the 3-Tier diagram, one of the
described limitations of using standalone web server and proxy plug-ins is:
a.. Limited Load Balancing Options: When you use proxy plug-ins or the
HttpClusterServlet to access clustered servlets, the load balancing
algorithm is limited to a simple round-robin strategy.
I believe this is describe load balancing between the fire-wall and the
proxy web servers. But what about the load balancing between the WL web
servers and the app servers? Does it exist, or does one web server always
assigned to one app server?

Currently, we only support clusters within the same subnet, as most routers
can't handle multicast traffic. We are considering designs to relax this
restriction in a future release.
