Multicam flattening issue

Hi !
I'm experiencing a weird bug/behavior while flattening my multicam sequence.
Here is my "workflow" :
- I create a multicam sequence by selecting the angles and the audio in the project panel. At this step, the cameras are in the wrong order.
- Instead of moving the tracks in the multicam sequence, i open it in the source view, and choose "change cameras" (I'm french, i don't konw the exact translation for this function)
- I edit my sequence.
When i try to flatten it, the order of the cameras set previously in the source view is skipped, and the "flatten function" uses the track number of the sequence to replace the edit.
Before submitting a bug report, i want to know if somebody has experienced this problem yet. Is it a normal behavior ? (In my opinion, it shouldn't be) Is there a workaround ?
Thanks.
(I'm on the latest version of Premiere Pro CC (7.2.1), Mac os x 10.9.2)

- Instead of moving the tracks in the multicam sequence, i open it in the source view, and choose "change cameras"
Huh?

  • Transparency flattening issue (I think)

    Hi all,
    I'd appreciate your help with this.  I've tried researching this through the forum yet still find myself confused.  I think it's a transparency flattening issue, but I'm unsure of how to fix it, and even at what point to fix it.
    I designed this for a magazine ad in InDesign CS2 and exported to PDF.  The polaroids have drop shadows, which look fine on screen:
    But when I print I get these ugly "borders" where the transparencies are:
    Can't get rid of them, except by printing the PDF as an image.
    My questions are:
    1) Assuming this is a transparency issue, how do I fix this?  I've read about transparency presets on the forum, but (please forgive my lameness) I'm not sure how to actually apply them.
    2) At what point do I fix this?  I mean, as a best practice, is this something that's addressed inside InDesign, or during the export from InDesign, or when printing the PDF?  It looked fine in the magazine so obviously they were able to fix it, but I'd still like to know what I'm doing wrong to save them extra work in the future.
    I have Adobe CS2 and Acrobat 7 Pro on a Windows XP Pro.
    Many thanks for your help,
    Ed

    That's quite a color shift, too, on the background which seems like more than you'd see from a poor image capture of the printed piece.
    I bet you are using a spot color. Unless you are actually paying to have that spot color printed in the magazine (if they even would), you shouldn't be using it. Make sure you go into the ink manager and convert all spots to process, or replace any spot colors with process colors. You should be the one handling the color conversion, and using process color will simplify the flattening, I think.

  • Acrobat 9 flattening issues

    After generating a "smallest file size" or "PDF/X-1a:2001"  PDF in InDesign CS4 (and fonts are embedded), I add a watermark and everything in the file is fine. After flattening the PDF, there are sporadic areas where type crashes together. Or in another instance, ligature characters disappear, leaving a small gap.
    I'm assuming both problems may depend on the font that is being used, since this does not appear to happen in every file.
    Has anyone else come across this issue? If so, is there a known fix? ... like perhaps an extra step to apply in order to avoid these problems?

    I think it's about the same problem I have published last week. I didn't get feedback.
    "PDF changes alignment when optimizing it
    Since I upgraded to CS4 strange things happen.
    When I optimize a PDF in Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 (to get a PDF that can be mailed) the text that used to be aligned full is now aligned to the left."

  • FCP Multicam Sync Issues

    i am edited a project in final cut using the multicam feature. sometimes the canvas and viewer will not sync, or i cant get any angle but the active one on the viewer. this is very frustrating, its wasting a lot of my time. what can i do to avoid this? thanks
    Final Cut 5.1.4 and i edit from a external hard drive.

    "sequence error, unable to add clip to sequence. possible media limits problem in clip or sequence."
    I've not seen that message before. Any chance of re-acquiring the media...could be corrupt somehow.
    Could be your external drive is going bad.?.?

    Did your Tiger disks go away with your tower? Not sure of best options to get another set, others might have some insight.
    I'd try to exhaust all other possibilities before any downgrade.
    -Delete prefs
    -Run Disk Warrior on external...or at least Disk Utility/Repair disk
    -Confirm media settings exactly match sequence settings.
    -What type of external drive and how is it connected.
    2 streams of DVCam shouldn't be an issue on a laptop.

  • Multicam playback issues

    I have digitized a project into FCP at 8 bit instead of DV and seem to be having playback issues with the multicam. My settings are Safe Rt, Dynamic, Quarter playback frame rate, yet I am still dropping frames left and right. Is it possible that I need faster drives? I only got this system two years ago, I can't believe it won't play 8 bit. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    I'm digitizing digibeta tapes and I want it as uncompressed as I can get it so I digitized it at 8 bit uncompressed. I have a 4 bay Internal SATA Array. Each one holds 465 gigabytes and I think it has a 3.0 gigabit throughput if I'm reading the specs correctly. I've done DV multicam without a problem on my system but I was hoping to have a better quality product this time so I digitized at a higher compression rate ( or is it really a lower compression rate . . . ) All the media right now is on one drive. Does that matter? This is kind of where i wish I was working on an Avid . . . .

  • Multicam performance issue

    Hello,
    I have a performance issue while trying to edit a multicam project in Premiere Pro CC. I have 4 1080p25 AVCHD streams which I am able to play back smoothly but as soon as I hit the red record button, hundreds of frames are dropped and the playback stutters immediately. I see no bottleneck in my system and this problem is driving me crazy because I am not able to edit my footage. I tried reducing the playback resolutionm but even 1/8 resolution doesn't change anything, it still stutters. As I said the interesting thing is that it playbacks SMOOTHLY, it only stutters like hell after I hit the record button and try to edit "live".
    I hope someone can help me here. My editing rig specs are:
    i7 2600k @ 4,2 GHz (4 cores, 8 Threads HT)
    16 GB RAM @ 1600 MHz (12 GB reserved for Premiere, about 9-10 GB total are used while editing)
    Asus GTX 780 DirectCU (3 GB VRAM, MPE enabled)
    2x 1 TB HDDs (7200 rpm) for footage + 250 GB SSD Workspace for Premiere cache files
    The temps are ok, no throttling here however.
    Best regards,
    Alex

    Seems like no one has a solution...
    I'm honestly quite disappointed with Adobe making such a buggy "professional" software. I am not the only one getting that same problem though.

  • Multicam performance issues

    I am trying to play nine streams of 1080i ProRes 422 in an FCPX multicam clip, and it just stutters and drops frames. My client needs to see all nine sources in the multicam viewer.
    Here's my specs:
    Late 2013 8 core Mac Pro w/D700
    Mac OS X 10.9.2
    32GB RAM
    FCPX 10.1.3
    AJA Io 4K with 10.5.3 drivers
    Xsan connected via fibre channel
    There is plenty of bandwidth available (over 500MB/sec) to push the data through the pipeline, so I don't think the issue is there. I have tried transcoding to Proxy, and that is better, but the job that's on the way is a quick turnaround that doesn't allow for transcoding. I have the Viewer set to "Better Performance."
    This same media on the same system plays nine streams just fine in Premiere Pro, but the quirks and lack of stability make that a questionable option. Is there anything else I can do to make this work?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    You should consider working in proxy for that one. Nine streams of 1080i is a lot of data to push through and even if on paper your setup should support that much throughput there is also processing time involved. With proxy you need a lot less data.

  • Save as PDF with [PDF/X-1a:2001] preset not flattening issue

    Hi all,
    I have a document with some transparency so I want to flatten it while saving to a PDF. In the UI, if I save it using [PDF/X-1a:2001] preset, it's perfeclty flattened.
    But if I order the same operation through scripting, it doesn't. What am I doing wrong, it makes me crazy !
    var doc=app.activeDocument;
    var pdfSaveOptions = new PDFSaveOptions();
    pdfSaveOptions.pDFPreset="[PDF/X-1a:2001]";
    var pdfFile = new File(Folder.desktop + "/testIllu4.pdf");
    doc.saveAs(pdfFile, pdfSaveOptions);
    TIA.
    Loic

    Hi Larry,
    Just tried your function and indeed if I have a specific preset, it works. I hoped I could just set the PDF options without calling a preset.
    I just looked and it seems like impossible to add a preset into Illustrator
    That's really tough.
    Thanks a lot anyway for helping.
    Loic
    Edit : FINALLY, I could get it. I suspected something when I saw into Acrobat that the file didn't contain transparency but was indeed transparent into Illustrator. I forgot to deactivate the editability. And that was all !
    var doc=app.activeDocument;
    var pdfSaveOptions = new PDFSaveOptions();
    pdfSaveOptions.pDFXStandard=PDFXStandard.PDFX1A2001;
    pdfSaveOptions.compatibility = PDFCompatibility.ACROBAT4;
    pdfSaveOptions.preserveEditability = false;
    var pdfFile = new File(Folder.desktop + "/test.pdf");
    doc.saveAs(pdfFile, pdfSaveOptions);

  • Multicam sync issues on export

    Hi all,
    I wonder if anyone else is having this problem. I'm editing a 2-camera multicam shoot in Final Cut (5.0.4). We shot DVCPRO HD 720p24 on the HVX-200. Everything works fine in Final Cut, but when I export, either Automatic Duck to After Effects for some keying, or, it would seem, to a Quicktime movie, things go wrong.
    With Automatic Duck, it clearly gave me the wrong timecode because the clips were slightly wrong (some of the time). I tried match-framing the clips and re-dropping them into my timeline (video only, because I wanted to keep the audio all from one source). This worked fine, but it told me that there was an audio-video offset by a few frames (even though, on playback, it was in sync). This offset seemed to correspond to the clips that were problematic in After Effects.
    Then, when I exported a Quicktime movie of the original multicam, not the match-frame, the video drifted in and out of sync. I can't be sure, because I haven't run tests, but I would certainly guess that this is the result of a similar problem.
    Has anyone else encountered this? Is this an inherent problem in multicam or does it just affect DVCPRO HD? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better solution? Etc.
    Thank you in advance for any help.
    - David

    Use shorter audio files. Break up the audio into shorter, more manageable chunks, and then place those shorter audio files in your movie.

  • Flattening Issue

    Applied glow effect to graphics that had transparent backgrounds; after exporting to PDF, I flattened the file and converted all text to outlines. Got a very light hairline to the right and below the image that the glow effect was added to..
    Went back and re-exported but did NOT flatten the file and it was OK.
    Thanks.

    You could get the same display problem in any application if the zoom level drops below the monitor resolution—you can't rely on a low view percentage
    In Photoshop if you have an object on a layer cut out of the layer below and view at 50% you are not seeing the actual pixels so here I'm seeing a white line that doesn't exist in the image. I have to magnify to at least 100% to see the actual pixels and know the white line isn't part of the image. In Acrobat or ID it would have to be higher because 100% isn't necessarily a 1:1 monitor to image pixel ratio, so look at the page at 400%+ in Acrobat.

  • Multicam editing issue

    I've been able to successfully create multicam edited squences previously but I've run into a problem I can't seem to figure out. I've followed the steps for creating a multicam form the manual and from Ken Stone's tutorial here http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/multicam_editingmartin.html, but still not luck.
    I'm creating a multiclip based on in points in FCS2. The videos I'm using are H.264, 640x480, 29.97fps, the data & audio rates are different.
    What's happening is after adding/creating the multiclip sequence the clip angles are not playing in the viewer and only one angle plays in the canvas. When I select the second angle I get a red render line above the entire clip. The RT settings are limited to just "Use Playback Settings" and "Full Quality".
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    Jerry

    The problem is very likely coming from the fact that FCP doesn't support h.264. It's a delivery format, not an editing format.
    You'd be much better off transcoding these files to a supported editing format such as DV then creating the multiclips.

  • Multicam sync issue

    Here's the scenario:
    Shot three fly fishing instructional videos in a row.  Each one was identically set up with two cameras and an audio recorder. I normally have the audio active on the cameras so I can easily sync up the multicam via audio.
    However, I failed to notice that one mic was not connected so I ended up with one video sans audio on all three sessions. So to clarify, I ended up with a video clip without audio, a video clip with audio, and an audio clip for each of the three sessions.
    No problem methinks, I just set markers on the two videos, left "Audio sync" enabled and created my multicam clip.
    Worked perfectly on two of my sessions, but the third failed, being out of sync by a couple of seconds.  The angle editor revealed that the markers were not quite aligned.  No problem, just manually synched them.
    But, why would two work this way and the third fail?  Or did I just get lucky with the first two?

    Yesl. I do think you got lucky when you set the markers the first time.

  • CS6 Spanned Clip Multicam AVCHD issue

    Is this issue fixed or is it going to be fixed? I am still sitting with three copies of Production Premium CS6 that I can’t use. Will there be some sort of refund to customers if it isn’t fixed?

    Adobe can't talk about changes to the software until they go live (or just before).  So far, I've heard nothing about a refund beyond the normal 30 day policy.

  • Multicam audio issues

    I've watched a 30mins tutorial of 12-year-old kid and searched these forums pluss adobes own tutorials for help but no luck.
    I'm editing a GTA video with me and two other friends perspective, so 3 in total. I made a Multicam for those 3 views following
    adobes own tutorials on how to do this in Premiere CS6.
    The annoying problem is that when I change from Camera 1 to camera 2 or 3 their audio is gone. ONLY Camera 1 has audio.
    Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get the audio from "camera 2" to be active when viewing "camera 2", and "camera 3 have the audo when i'm viewing "camera 3"!?
    I honestly can't figure out how and WHY this is like this, it makes no sense at all.

  • Multicam sync issues

    I've found about six different camera flashes to use as inpoints to sync up the clips of a three camera shoot and each time one of the angles in the subsequent multiclip is way off. Is there any way, after creating a multiclip, to slide a single angle around and manually sync it up?

    Yeah, select the Angle in the Viewer, then hold down *Control & Shift* while dragging the mouse left/right to adjust sync.
