"Multicast" support for EJB-EJB calls to cluster

What I have to work with:
+ WebLogic Server 5.1 cluster
+ Stateless session EJBs
What I want to do:
+ Be able to know list of available servers in the cluster
and use this list to broadcast same information to all EJBs
with same name in cluster
+ I understand that the cluster-aware EJB stub has this list
when a client gets a home reference to the EJB Object
+ I have not seen any specific WebLogic API to get this list
either by accessing the cluster-aware JNDI table or the
cluster-aware EJB stub.
+ Othwerwise, I would then need to implement my own server
list manager to get this list. Such task should not be that difficult.
Why I want to do the above:
+ I would like to implement a EJB sendAll() method that will
send the same request to all EJBs of the same JNDI name in the cluster.
+ Please correct me if I am wrong but I have not seen anywhere
in the WebLogic 5.1 documentation regarding the automatic multicast
ability of broadcasting EJBs calls via EJB-to-EJB communication to a
cluster.
+ I understand that multicasting is only used internally, ie,
heartbeats.
Plus, I believe that RMI does not support multicasting.

I'd like to hear a bit more about what you are trying to do. (at a
higher level)
RMI / EJB is a point-to-point model. A client is making an RMI call to
a server. Granted, in our clustering solution, there may not be one
physical server, but the idea is to give the appearance of one big,
reliable server.

  • Support for Skype Number Calling ID Australia

    Hi there
So I was wondering if there will be any support for skype number calling id in the future in australia. It is quite frustrating not having any support for ksype calling id in australia. Was wondering when support will become availible. I'm sure many of you are also feeling my pain. You pay enough for the number so you should be able to have the number as the out going caller id.
    Thanks.

When will we be able to use the Skype supplied number for CID (Caller ID) in Australia?
I've been trying to get a straight answer for this for over 3 years.  The closest I had was that the system can only verify the owner of a number by sending an SMS to it.  Well, if Skype supplies the number in the first place they already have me validated!
Given that a mobile number can be used in Australia already why can't the Skype number be put into place?
Can a moderator or support staff please comment here?
    Thank you.  Daymo.

  • IPv6 Multicast support for service providers 6PE / 6VPE

    Hi,
Can anyone comment on the current state of development for IPv6 Multicast support for Service Providers who are using 6PE or 6VPE in their MPLS core.
(6PE - SP is running MPLS in its IPv4 core, it uses IPv6-enabled provider edge (PE) routers to transport IPv6 traffic over an IPv4-only enabled core. 6PE does not support VPN,s it just provides a mechanism for tunneling IPv6 packets from ingress PE to egress PE routers)
(6VPE - refers to a PE router capable of supporting IPv6 VPNs. A 6VPE solution can be used to provide IPv6 based layer 3 VPN services in a similar way to IPv4 based Layer 3 VPN services.)
My understanding is that 6PE and 6VPE solution are unable to support IPv6 multicast traffic.
Any further information on configuration, design or development work in the pipeline would be gratefully received,
    kind regards John

    Hi John,
From our question I understand you are sking about the MVPN support for IPv6 multicast. It is actually supported on the XR platform as of now. Please refer:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/xr12000/software/xr12k_r4.0/multicast/configuration/guide/mc40mcst.html#wp2890031
    I hope this helps.

  • Cisco 8841 support for 3rd party call control

    Hi Cisco Team,
What is required to get Cisco 8841 IP phone configured as a SIP phone for 3rd party call control?

    Hi,
This information would be dependent on which third party you are integrating with, they should provide details of settings needed for the same. For supporting third party SIP endpoints with Cisco there are numerous docs / posts , but in your case the scenario is  reverse.

  • Need Support for Palm Pre Call Waiting

I've had my palm pre for a month about now and notice a number of issues with its call waiting feature that need to be addressed.  Here is the list:
    1) I can't drop 1 call without dropping the other call: this means that if I'm on the phone with person "A" and receive a call from person "B", though I can switch between the two easily enough, I can't end the call between person "A" to talk to person "B".  What's even worse, even if person "A" hangs up, the pre still keeps the call connected until I hang up my phone.  This is a serious issue when you're calling outside of any promotional time, nights, or weekends.
    2) in a conference call, I can't end one conversation without ending both conversation.  So again, if I have both person "A" and person "B" on a call and I connect them through a conference call on my pre, I can't end the conversation with one without ending it with the other.  A real pain in the butt.
I just want to know two things asap since I know this is something that'll take time to resolve (if it can be resolved)
    1) is this a hardware issue or a operating system issue?
    2) does conference calling really kill my minutes the way it look like it does?  I'm leaning toward yes from evidence I have, but I'd like to hear it from the pre reps.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    1.  This functionality sometimes works and sometimes it does not.  But can you answer the other part of the post.  The PALM pre give the user no one to drop the other call.  Mine is worse.  If the other user hangs up CONFERENCE is still there; If they hang up I'm not in a CONFERENCE but the PRE does not recognize this state at all.  Therefore you can't add another person to the call again.
    2.  This one does not affect me as much since I have the simply everything plan.  But I would def. pay attentiont my bill and complain to SPRINT every time this occurs.
    3.  HAS ANYONE OPENED A TICKET WITH PALM FOR THE CONFERENCE CALL / CALL WAITING ISSUE?

  • BPM start event(start condition) doesn't support ejb function call?

    Hi all,
An id is included in the ws call to trigger the bpm flow,
I have developed a ejb function, which is doing a simple check whether the process for the specific id is called before or not.
I have a simple table in bpm java server which records the id used before.
the ejb is called in the start condition, my desired behavior is: if the ejb returns true, no process should be triggered.
but the thing is, my flow is not getting triggered once I put the ejb call in the start condition.(ejb is called, as i can see new id record inserted into my db table)
I cannot even debug the process.
I can debug the process if that ejb call is removed from the start condition.
    my server is 7.31 sp8
    Best regards,

Thanks for confirming Jun Wu.... always comforting to see even the experts can stuff it up from time to time... and very glad you were able to fix it!

  • Is there support for ejb local interface?

    Hi,
Is there support for ejb local intefaces in JDev? By default it creates remote interfaces
& I have to manually edit the interfaces as well as the ejb-jar.xml files.
    I am using JDev 9.0.2.
    Thanks in advance...

Right. The aforementioned -migrate flag on the jdev or jdevw command line will migrate the IDE settings from your previous build.
Other upgrade issues are handled automatically the first time you open a project and save it with the new version.

  • Specifying JNDI Details for Controls (EJB/JMS) in Workshop

    Hello,
I was running into some basic issues in using workshop for building applications. Any help is appreciated !
How do I point Controls (EJB/JMS) to JNDI where the Objects have been bound
    In J2EE I will do this :
Context ctx = new InitialContext(ht); // ht has Provider URL etc.
Specifically in Design view of Workshop for (WLI) JMS Control how do you define PROVIDER_URL, SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, etc. My JMS Server is targeted to separate Managed Server that where Workshop Applications are deployed and I do not want to create Foriegn Destinations etc. on Managed Server where Applications get deployed.
For EJB Controls: How do you lookup remote EJBs that get deployed as a part of (EARs) on managed server (different from where Workshop Application and EJB Controls reside)
Basic Question: How do we distribute this "EJB Control" JAR to clients to call these EJBs using controls and specify the JNDI Environment for the control that surfaces the EJB resource deployed remotely?
I cannot import these as modules in an Workshop Application (=> EAR) and generate controls from these as they will get "deployed" in that application and we want only one deployment.
    Thanks
    Harish

    Hi there,
In your GUI client you should consdier building a model that represents the data that you want the GUI to display. This model would contain the references to the EJB's that you need to use. If you want to avoid using some kid of model then it really depends on the complexity of your GUI. If your GUI consists of one JFrame then everything can be done inside the main class for the GUI. If you have lots of sub windows then you need to consider where the references will be used. If theyare used in more than one window then you could end up with lots of complex cross references which is why the model would be better in this situation.
JNDI lookups can be expensive and this depends on several factors particularly network latency, if your client is self contained then once you have a reference to a home interface then you may as well keep and use it for any future calls. The key to this is keeping references to home interfaces as instance variables rather than scoping them locally.
There should really be no bottleneck caused by using as single session bean as a Facade to your EJB tier. The Session Facade is a very common pattern and the one that is most espoused by the various authors writing EJB tech books. As far as coupling is concerned this is an ideal situation as your client can then make coarse grained calls to the single facade session bean instead of making lots of smaller fine-grained calls to several session beans. I'd say that this is a good general design.
    Hope this helps

  • C++ Look alike for Java EJB-- JPA-- Backing Store

    Hi All,
I'm familar with the creation of an EJB data model , JPA, and tying it into Coherence via Toplink Essentials to the Data Store of my choice. What is the mechanizum used for doing the same with a C++ client wrting cache objects and having Coherence back store those ojects to a database of chioce?

    Hi Morsie,
C++ is only supported for Extend clients.
Here is some information on C++ extend clients:
    http://coherence.oracle.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=1343491
Extend clients are not actually members of the cluster but instead connect to the cluster via TCP/IP. So, since cache store operations occur in the cluster, they are completely unaffected by the fact that you are accessing a cache via a C++ Extend client.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Problem generating stubs for Java EJB web service deployed in OAS

I created an EJB web service and I've successfully deployed it in my Oracle App Server. Some of the methods work fine but others produce the ff error:
org.apache.soap.SOAPException - java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No Serializer found to serialize [classname] using encoding style [encoding]It seems that the objects specified as parameters in the web service methods exposed are the only ones that had stubs generated for them. Other objects I use, which are usually wrapped inside a Vector, did not have generated stubs.
    Example:
         public String loginUser(UserDTO userDTO) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException;
public String addItems (Vector vecItems) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException; // where vecItems is a collection of ItemDTO objects     In this scenario, stubs were generated for the UserDTO class, but not for the ItemDTO class. In effect, calling the addItems method resulted to the exception I mentioned above.
I did a workaround wherein I declared a dummy method which accepted all the types of objects I needed as parameters so all the necessary stubs can be generated, but this fix doesn't feel like it's the proper solution to my problem.
If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Can I modify the value of an enviroment entry for an EJB without having to re-deploy.

I wish to modify the value of an envrioment entry for an EJB. The entry already exists and has been created using
    <env-entry>
    <env-entry-name>myFlag</env-entry-name>
    <env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type>
    <env-entry-value>true</env-entry-value>
    </env-entry>
I can access the value using code similar to the following:-
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    String value = (String) initialContext.lookup("myFlag");
However if I try the following:-
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    initialContext.rebind("myFlag", "false");
    I get an OperationNotSupportedException thrown.
Do I need to use LDAP directly (rather than through JNDI) to modify this value or is there another / better way? If I do need to use LDAP directly what would the code look like ?

    Hi,
    As per J2EE specification:
Naming environment entries allow customization of a component during deployment or assembly without the need to access or change the component?s source code. The container implements the naming environment, and provides it to the component instance through a JNDI naming context.
The Deployer can modify values of environment entries that have been previously set by the Application Component Provider and/or Application Assembler.
Generally only those variables/properties are set in environment entries which are likely to be different on various Application server configurations/installations, so it is not required/advisable to change these entries programmatically. Any way iAS-6.0/6.5 doesn't support changing environment entries programmatically, it binds all the JNDI names during Server startup after reading it from the registry.
For your purpose you can use a boolean variable in your code to set your flag, and may be put it into session.
Please feel free to ask further questions.

  • Stateless Bean - scope of instance variable in EJB Timer call back function

    Hi,
I would like to know on the scope of an instance variable of a Stateless Bean object,
when used in a EJB Timer call back.Let me explain this in more detail below.
I have a requirement to use a EJB Timer.
For this, I have created a stateless object since Timer creation needs to be done
from a stateless bean. I have a member variable "count" of the stateless bean class.
In the timer call back(ejbTimeout), I am able to use this count variable during
each time of the call back, and the value of this variable is also updated properly.
I have a few queries with respect to the above behaviour:
    1) Does stateless bean object not get destroyed once the Timer is created from the Bean?
    2) If the Bean object is not destroyed, then when does the bean object get destroyed?
    3) If both (1) and (2) are not true, then can anyone explain on how the above behaviour is possible?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ulrich

    Hi Ulrich,
The ejb timer is associated with the stateless session bean component, not with a particular bean instance. There is no formal relationship between the bean instance that called createTimer() and the bean instance on which the timer callback happens. If they're the same in your test run that's just a coincidence and not something your application should be depending on.
In the stateless session bean model, the container can create and destroy stateless session bean instances at any time. The container is free to pick any stateless session bean instance to service any client invocation or timer callback. If you need to pass context into a timer callback, one way to do it is via the timer "info" object. However, the info object is immutable so it wouldn't be a good match for a counter. You could of course always just use a database for any necessary coordinated state.
