C++ Look alike for Java EJB-- JPA-- Backing Store

Hi All,
I'm familar with the creation of an EJB data model , JPA, and tying it into Coherence via Toplink Essentials to the Data Store of my choice. What is the mechanizum used for doing the same with a C++ client wrting cache objects and having Coherence back store those ojects to a database of chioce?

Hi Morsie,
C++ is only supported for Extend clients.
Here is some information on C++ extend clients:
http://coherence.oracle.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=1343491
Extend clients are not actually members of the cluster but instead connect to the cluster via TCP/IP. So, since cache store operations occur in the cluster, they are completely unaffected by the fact that you are accessing a cache via a C++ Extend client.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Problem generating stubs for Java EJB web service deployed in OAS

    I created an EJB web service and I've successfully deployed it in my Oracle App Server. Some of the methods work fine but others produce the ff error:
    org.apache.soap.SOAPException - java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No Serializer found to serialize [classname] using encoding style [encoding]It seems that the objects specified as parameters in the web service methods exposed are the only ones that had stubs generated for them. Other objects I use, which are usually wrapped inside a Vector, did not have generated stubs.
    Example:
         public String loginUser(UserDTO userDTO) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException;
    public String addItems (Vector vecItems) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException; // where vecItems is a collection of ItemDTO objects     In this scenario, stubs were generated for the UserDTO class, but not for the ItemDTO class. In effect, calling the addItems method resulted to the exception I mentioned above.
    I did a workaround wherein I declared a dummy method which accepted all the types of objects I needed as parameters so all the necessary stubs can be generated, but this fix doesn't feel like it's the proper solution to my problem.
    If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Jpa backing store - what is the key [ newbie alert]

    If I use JPA for the coherence cache backing store, what in the JPA specifies the cache key for the object?
    Any code examples?

    Hi mesocyclone,
    the mapping of the primary key for the entity is done in the JPA-related mapping configuration of your entity you store in this cache. It is mentioned in the Wiki page you linked in:
    Entities may be mapped either by annotating the entity
    classes or by adding an orm.xml or other XML mapping
    file(s). See the JPA vendor documentation for more on
    how to map JPA entities.Two things to note however:
    1. You must not generate the primary keys by JPA, they must already be set in the cached value when they are put into the cache. This is required by Coherence so that the ownership mapping of the cached object to its owner Coherence node remains correct.
    2. Because of the previous, the JPA Entity Manager cannot decide from the id whether an object is supposed to exist in the database, or is supposed to be a new row with the assigned id. Therefore you must also somehow let JPA to know that a newly inserted entry will be an inserted row not an updated row. This is done in Hibernate with specifying an unsaved value indicated for a mandatory column with a special role (e.g. the version attribute) and initializing a newly created object to be cached later with that value in the respective attribute, but I don't know how it is done in JPA.
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • Problems with JNDI lookup for java:comp/env/ejb

    Hi all,
    I'm using OC4J 9.0.3 and I have problems when looking up for the local
    EJB context.
    I have a SLSB which refers to another SLSB via a JNDI mapping like
    shown below. Both services are deployed within one EAR file.
    (snippets of ejb-jar.xml and orion-ejb-jar.xml)
    <ejb-jar>
    <enterprise-beans>
    <session>
    <ejb-name>ServiceABean</ejb-name>
    <home>com.coi.ServiceAHome</home>
    <remote>com.coi.ServiceA</remote>
    <ejb-class>com.coi.ServiceABean</ejb-class>
    <session-type>Stateless</session-type>
    <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>ejb/some/sub/packages/ServiceB</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>com.coi.ServiceBHome</home>
    <remote>com.coi.ServiceB</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    </session>
    </enterprise-beans>
    </ejb-jar>
    <orion-ejb-jar>
    <enterprise-beans>
    <session-deployment location="global/some/sub/packages/ServiceA" name="ServiceABean">
    <ejb-ref-mapping name="ejb/some/sub/packages/ServiceB" location="global/some/sub/packages/ServiceB" />
    </session-deployment>
    </enterprise-beans>
    </orion-ejb-jar>
    The ApplicationInitialContextFactory will be used (prepared by the container),
    so the lookup for ServiceB within a method of ServiceA should work as follows:
    public class ServiceABean implements SessionBean
    public void someMethod()
    InitialContext con = new InitialContext(); // will be of class ApplicationContext
    Context localEjbContext = (Context)con.lookup( "java:comp/env/ejb" );
    ServiceBHome serviceBHome = (ServiceBHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(
    localEjbContext.lookup( "some/sub/packages/ServiceB" ),
    ServiceBHome.class );
    The problem is now, that the lookup for "java:comp/env/ejb" doesn't work
    and throws a NameNotFoundException.
    To figure out what's actually happening during lookup I debugged a little bit and
    tried a few things:
    1. A lookup for "java:comp" works fine. It returns an instance of class FlatMapContext
    which consists of a hash map which itself contains an entry for "env".
    2. So a lookup for "env" on that FlatMapContext also works and returns an instance of SubContext.
    3. A lookup for "ejb" using this SubContext causes a NameNotFoundException
    with message "java:comp/env/ejb not found".
    4. A lookup like con.lookup( "java:comp/env" ) throws also a NameNotFoundException
    with message "java:comp/env not found (not inside a J2EE module, for instance a Web-App,
    EJB, or Application-Client)".
    Does anyone know something about this?

    Hi Debu,
    Great! 9.0.4 will be released in june/july this year, right? Sorry for my ironical reaction, but does that mean, that I don't have any chance to get my whole stuff running in 9.0.3? I cannot believe that. Isn't there a wordaround I could apply? A setting or whatever to substitute the daft FlatCtx by something else that is implemented according to the spec?

    Michael,
    We are also seeing problems with EJB development using the VAJ integration kit

    JSPs, Servlets, etc. appear to work just fine using the 4.5.1 integration kit

    Hi Enzo,
      Simple. Open your NWDS IDE and go to Help --> SAP Web AS documentation --> SAP Web AS Technologies and give the search query as "webdynpro api". You will get the javadoc installed in your system.

    NT while I have windows 98I'd recommend a few others.
    1) Netbeans, at http://www.netbeans.org
    2) Forte for Java, http://www.sun.com ; poke around to find it.
    3) JAWA. The address(& the spelling) fails me.
    I'd personally recommend 1&2, it runs on most platforms, its packs quite a lot of features. But it is quite resoure hungry and you do need a lot of memory. About > 256 .
    I have not used the third one, but quite a few people here seem to like it.
    There is another one in development, http://www.eclipse.org , seems to be bankrolled by IBM.

  • Problem in connecting to database from webdynpro for java

    Hi
    I have a problem in connecting to database from webdynpro application
    I am using oracle 10 express edition as database and was able to connect to database from a java application.But  was unable to connect from a webdynpro for java.
    <b>I guess webdynpro for java uses open sql instead of vendor sql(I looked in the visual admin ,DB is using open sql) so unable to connect to database.Am i right.?</b>
    Do i need to make any settings in the visual admin to make it work?
    How to solve this problem.Please give me pointers
    Thanks
    Bala

    Hi,
    For connecting to Oracle, either you can use the normal JDBC connectivty code directly which is given below :
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@Oracle_server_ip:Oracle port:SID of the Database","user_name","password");
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("your query");
    In case you want to fetch data through ejbs, these are the steps to be followed :
    1) Open the J2EE perspective
    2) Create an EJB Module project
    3) Right click on ejbModule, create a new EJB (select your EJB type)
    4) While creating the ejb itself, you can add business methods by clicking ‘Next’ in the UI. Another option is after creating the ejb, write the method in the bean, then select the method from ejb-jar.xml -> <bean name> ->method. Right click and select ‘propogate to local & remote’.
    5) Double click on ejb-j2ee-engine.xml. select your bean and specify a Jndi name for eg: “MyJndi”.
    6) Right click on the EJB project and add ‘classes12.zip’ file (provided by Oracle) to it’s build path. (under libraries tab). Also check the same file under ‘Order & Export’.
    7) Create an Enterprise Application project.
    8) Right click on the EJB module project and select add to EAR project, then select the created EAR project.
    9) Right click on the EJB project, select ‘Build EJB Archive’
    10) Right click on the EAR project, select ‘Build Application Archive’
    11) Open the WebDynpro perspective, open a new project, right click on the project ->properties. Do the following configurations :-
    • Java Build path - select the EJB project from ‘projects’ , check the selected project under ‘Order & Export’
    • Project references – select the EAR project
    • WebDynpro references – select ‘sharing references’ tab, click add & make an entry as : <vendor>/<EAR project name without .ear extension>
    You can find the vendor name under ‘application-j2ee-engine.xml’ file of the EAR project. By default it is ‘sap.com’. So if my EAR project’s name is ABC, my entry would look like ‘sap.com/ABC’
    12) Now the configurations are over and the EJB can be invoked by writing the client code inside the webdynpro component. Like:
    InitialContext context = new InitialContext();
    Object obj = context.lookup("MyJndi");
    MyEJBHome home = MyEJBHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(obj,MyEJBHome.class);
    MyEJB mybean = home.create();
    int a = 0;
    a= mybean.add(10,15);
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setSum(a);
    where ‘MyEJB’ is my EJB name and ‘MyJndi’ is my JNDI name
    To connect to Oracle , you can write the usual Java code (given below) as a business methos of the ejb (similar to add() method in the example). And access it like mybean.<businessMethodName>().
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@Oracle_server_ip:Oracle port:SID of the Database","user_name","password");
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("your query");

  • Can I modify the value of an enviroment entry for an EJB without having to re-deploy.

    I wish to modify the value of an envrioment entry for an EJB. The entry already exists and has been created using
    <env-entry>
    <env-entry-name>myFlag</env-entry-name>
    <env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type>
    <env-entry-value>true</env-entry-value>
    </env-entry>
    I can access the value using code similar to the following:-
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    String value = (String) initialContext.lookup("myFlag");
    However if I try the following:-
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    initialContext.rebind("myFlag", "false");
    I get an OperationNotSupportedException thrown.
    Do I need to use LDAP directly (rather than through JNDI) to modify this value or is there another / better way? If I do need to use LDAP directly what would the code look like ?

    Hi,
    As per J2EE specification:
    Naming environment entries allow customization of a component during deployment or assembly without the need to access or change the component?s source code. The container implements the naming environment, and provides it to the component instance through a JNDI naming context.
    The Deployer can modify values of environment entries that have been previously set by the Application Component Provider and/or Application Assembler.
    Generally only those variables/properties are set in environment entries which are likely to be different on various Application server configurations/installations, so it is not required/advisable to change these entries programmatically. Any way iAS-6.0/6.5 doesn't support changing environment entries programmatically, it binds all the JNDI names during Server startup after reading it from the registry.
    For your purpose you can use a boolean variable in your code to set your flag, and may be put it into session.
    Please feel free to ask further questions.

  • Catching errors in Web Dynpro for Java when thrown from RFC Raise Exception

    Hello Developers,
    I'm looking for information that explains how a Web Dynpro for Java application responds and processes errors that are thrown from a Raise Exception event within an RFC.
    The Exceptions do not appear to be part of the Model and I can't identify how they get processed.

    I would like to display a friendlier message and without the log.  Any information on how to customize the handling of this error would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
