Question

OC4J servlet engine does not seem to properly handle multi-bytes character set conversion.
new String(source.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"),"utf-8");
The "source" is the Japanese string entered in the "utf-8" encoded JSP page. It returns a kind of garbaged string "????...". In TOMCAT engine, it returns the correct unicode Japanese string.
Can you help me?

Please check the orion-web.xml for your web application. Look for the parameter "default-charset". If you don't have it set is accordingly.
Example:
..<orion-web-app
deployment-version="1.0.2.2"
jsp-cache-directory="./persistence"
temporary-directory="./temp"
servlet-webdir="/servlet/" default-charset="Big5"

set default-charset to ISO-8859-1, if not set or other charset as required.
