Multiple Column search based on column name

Hi, Can anybody please help me with my issue. I have a table containing about 100 columns, I am using application express. I want to use a textbox for input, and input will be column name i.e. say one of the column name is "PARK" when user type park in that textbox and click on go or search it will display the records for "PARK" column. How can I do that.
I am trying like this - select :P124_PARK_NAME from wp_parks.
it displays the result but display "PARK" instead of actual data for that column. Please help...

I would prefer some thing like this.
SQL> create table hx_test
  2  as
  3  select level as rno
  4    from dual
  5  connect by level <=10

  • Can I get multiple sums in a single column based on a "code" I place.

    After importing a file of check/debit card activity from my bank, can I 'code' the line items based on tax categories ie Utilities, Medical expenses, Auto expenses, etc. and then get sums for each based on that code I placed in a single column? That would mean multiple sums in a single column based on the code used for each tax related expense. For instance, I would put UT in the column for utilities expenses and MED in the same column if it were a medical expense. I would then want the sum for all items in that column for each item code. Is this possible or do I need to use a different approach to get this information.

    My guess is that the SUMIF function may be your friend.
    It's well described in the *iWork Formulas and Functions User Guid*e which every user may download from the Help menu.

  • Ranking search function based on column content

    We need to search on many docs saved in database. These LOBs has one column KEYWORD VARCHAR2 (64), in which we should put some words that help user who want to search on these values.
    Is there any explanation (code) how to rank found docs by this KEYWORD field. Something like google but much poorer and based only on one column search.

    You can use the score function.

    I have 4 rows in 'dataset' table in 'result' field and it is seperated by ampersand (&). I want to divide one field into multiple fields based on field name. How do I do this in SSIS? I'am ok to do this using sql. Fieldname are higligtened.
    It would be nice it can be doable without .net script

    Yes there are several ways to do this but I do not think any of them will be as simple or efficient as doing it in a script task. You are going to have to break the string down into its key value pairs. This article(http://www.sqlperformance.com/2012/07/t-sql-queries/split-strings) will
    give you a few options to break that string down using CTE's or numbers tables, you wound also be able to achieve some measure of success using a combination of CHARINDEX and SUBSTRING to brake the string down but this would not be very manageable.
    I would still recommend using the Script task if you can.

  • Search based on DFF Columns

    Hi Everyone,
    Is there any way to search based on the values given in the DFF (in Forms) or is Form Customization the only way.
    regards,
    Karthi Sankar!

    You hit f11 and simply click into the DFF box. The DFF screen should come up and enter your search value and hit Control F11.
    Hope this answers your question

  • Search for a column in all SSIS packages in a Folder

    Hi
    We are changing the datatype of one of a column for a  huge table from INT to BIGINT. All SPs are being changed to accomodate this change.
    All the SSIS packges havebeen downloaded to a folder. And I need to find the instances of this column in around 250 packages.
    Is there a quick way to do this instead of opening up each package and looking for the column?
    I dont have access to MSDB so my search should be based o nthe packages inthe folder.
    Thanks
    rajiv
    Rajiv

    You can do it using ssis package
    Create a table with two columns
    Table (PackageXML,PackageName)
    one a xml column and another varchar column for this
    1. Add a SSIS package with ForEachLoop container. point to folder containing your SSIS packages. Choose filetype as *.dtsx
    2. Inside loop add a variable to get package names. choose option as Fully qualified (FilePath)
    3. Add another variable and store filename alone extracted from above created variable (FileName)
    4. Add a variable to hold query (Query) and assign an expression to it as
    "INSERT YourTable (PackageXMl,PackageName)
    SELECT *,'" + @[User::FileName] + "'
    FROM OPENROWSET(BULK '" + @[User::FilePath] + "',SINGLE_BLOB) x"
    5. Add a SQL task inside loop, choose SQLSourceType as variable and point to Query variable
    Execute this package. This will cause it to load the code for all packages inside your table
    Once this is done then you can just query the table as below to get package with column reference
    SELECT PackageName
    FROM Table
    WHERE CAST(PackageXML AS varchar(max)) LIKE '%columnname%'

  • SSRS Expression for hiding some columns in column group based on parameter

    I have a matrix table with column name WeekName which has the values of W1, W2, W3 and W4 which expands 4 columns when run. I need to hide the columns based on a parameter called WeekPar as follows:
    If WeekPar = 1, hide columns W1,
    If WeekPar = 2, hide columns W1 and W2
    What would be the expression for that?
    I know how to hide individual columns, but not some of the columns in a group. Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi QQFA,
    After testing the issue in my local environment, we can refer to the steps below to achieve your requirement:
    Right-click the WeekName column to open the Column Visibility property dialog box.
    Using the expression below to control the Column Visibility (supposing the cell which contains WeekName field named WeekName ):
    =switch(Parameters! WeekPar.Value=1,ReportItems! WeekName.Value="W1", Parameters! WeekPar.Value=2,ReportItems! WeekName.Value="W1" or ReportItems! WeekName.Value="W2")
    If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • How to search a perticular column in a schema

    Hi All,
    Hope everyone doing good..!
    I need small help on Oracle please..
    I have schema called "IMGMIC" in the database and I have one column named "GELOC" in that.
    Now the problem is like how do i find out that column is exists(belongs to) in which table of that schema.
    I know only the column name & schema name name,but dont know from which table that column is.
    I wanted to check that column is belogs to which table.
    Please help the best way of searching of the column in detail...
    As i am getting this doubt no.of times....
    Thanks in ADV.
    mkr

    You can try one of these, depending on your privileges:
    select * from dba_tab_columns where owner = 'IMGMIC' and column_name = 'GELOC';
    select * from all_tab_columns where owner = 'IMGMIC' and column_name = 'GELOC';
    or connect as IMGMIC and:
    select * from user_tab_columns where column_name = 'GELOC';

  • Conditional inclusion of column cells based on value in another column?

    I was wondering if something like the following is possible -- I've looked through the forums and Numbers user guide but can't figure it out:
    Suppose I have a column A of sales figures, and columns B and C which basically have different attributes (say, color (yellow or green), size (small or large), and material (cotton or polyester)).
    I want to run basic statistics on various combinations: e.g. all yellow items regardless of size, all green cotton items regardless of size, all large yellow items regardless of material, etc.
    I want to be able to specify something like this:
    'Compute the average of every cell in column A where column B=="green" and column C=="large"'
    Is there a good way to go about doing this? Would I want to attack the problem using categories, sorting, and multiple tables? Or is there a way to conditionally include cell values from a range based on the value of that row's cell in another column?
    Thanks for any help.

    All I can think of to solve the quartile and median functions is to have another table of the same size as your original table that gets populated with just the items that match. Then you can do the quartile and median (and average) on that table. It's a one-at-a-time affair; you can only do one selection of size, color, and/or material at a time but you can get the median, mean, and quartiles of it. Of course, you could have multiple copies of this second table if you want to do more than one comparison at a time.
    In the attached file, unhide the hidden rows in Table 2 to see the formulas that do all the work.

    You cannot add columns dynamically. But you can define a maximum number of numbers and then hide unused columns in your form useing SET_ITEM_PROPERTY(..,VISIBLE, PROPERTY_FALSE);

    is it possible to create an Object Type based on columns of a table?
    for example the syntax for creation of type is
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE temp_t
    AS OBJECT (ID number, code number)
    can we create a type that is based on columns of an existing table? so that we donot have to write down all the column names in each type as i have to create types based on 100 and above tables :-s

  • Report with multiple dimensions in Row and Column with EvEXP

    Hi
    We are currently running BPC 7.0 SP3 and try to create the report(or schedule) with more 2 x 2 dimensions in the row and column.
    e.g.
    row dimension : Outer row is Entity, Inner row is Account
    column dimension : Outer column is Time, Inner row is Category
    We created the report with  2 x 2 dimensions like above e.g. with EvEXP and EvNXP, NOT EvDRE
    based on default dynamic template:Template13.xlt(Nested Row, 2 x 1 dimensions defined by EvEXP and EvNXP formula).
    However, when expanding the dimension with double click these dimensions or change CV of the report with  2 x 2 dimensions defined by EvEXP and EvNXP formula,
    error occurs on EvEXP and EvNXP formula and can't retrieve the result correctly.
    [Question]
    Can't we create the report with more 2 x 2 dimensions in the row and column using EvEXP and EvNXP function ?
    We understand that we can make the report with more 2 x 2 dimensions in the row and column if using EvDRE.
    Thank You in advance
    Kenya

    Thank you for your advice.
    I understand that we should use EvDRE when creating the report with multiple dimension in the row/column because EvEXP have some erros, poor performance, etc.
    Then, we have two questions.
    1)
    >plus they had some errors in the designs.
    what kind of errors they have as an example?
    2)
    >If you must build the EVEXP and EVNXP, I would suggest building the template from scratch
    We built the simple template with just 2 x 2 dimension from scratch.
    But this report doesn't work well when double-click the dimension or changing CV...
    Would you please check the following template?
    <https://sapmats-de.sap-ag.de/download/download.cgi?id=RCZE1ME4YSORY3DCDO4NNMANZLBL1L5ZBUOB2F71YVNVS8XDJW>
    It would be greatly appreciated if you could give me your advice for the template.
    Thank you again
    And my best regards,

  • Insert performance on a table with schema based XMLType column

    Hi,
    We are inserting around 500K rows into a table which has one XMLType column (schema based). Schema is simple and the size of the XMLType column is also not very large (on an average only around 100 bytes (max might be around 1k-2k), but it takes around 1 hr for every 20K rows, which seems very slow.
    The schema is like this :
    <schema targetNamespace="http://www.citadon.com/xml/test.xsd"
    xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xdb="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb"
    xdb:storeVarrayAsTable="true"
    version="1.0" elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <element name="cas">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="ca" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="id" type="string"/>
    <element name="value" type="string"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    </schema>
    Any thoughts on how to improve performance?

  • Search for a column in schema

    Hi ,

    You need to clarify "exists". Do you mean exists regardless if you have acces to it or "exists" means you have access to it? For the former use:
    SELECT  OWNER.TABLE_NAME
      FROM  DBA_TAB_COLUMNS
      WHERE OWNER = '<schema name>'
        AND COLUMN_NAME = '<column_name>'
    /For latter use ALL_TAB_COLUMNS instead as it was suggested by others.
