Multiple Divs (one static, one scrolling)

Ok,
So I am working on a project in which i have a dreamweaver website that includes lots of flash and lots of text. However, some pages do not contain flash, and will need all text.
In a nutshell, I have a center content div that will eventually contain flash on the top half (this should not scroll). Also, within that same div, I have another div that will primarily contain text (this will scroll). As of now, I have downloaded a flash file that has allowed me to add my desired text, and also be able to change the look of the scrollbar. I love this, and would like to be able to keep this as the scrollbar is perfect for my design.
The twist is that the text with the scrolling feature (flash file) has a size that will need change based on certain pages. However, using the flash or div that I currently have set up, will not allow the size to vary based on page. It is always this specific size. Ultimately, if I add the flash of images above the text div, the text div bumps down, and now is off the page. It does scroll, but only to the size that I have specified in flash... not to fit in the dreamweaver page.
Can someone please help me with my dilemma?! I don't know what to do.

A component can only be displayed at one place at a time (it has one location and one parent property etc.)
But you can display the same information holded by a single object to several components. For this case some components define a model. JLabel hasn't a model though. If you want to display more than just a text or an icon (eg. both) I suggest you subclass JLabel and define your own model.

  • Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.

Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.
I'm NOT in any way a Terminal Services expert and I need help trying to get an application program working in a multi-user environment.
The issue is that the printer changes for every user that is logged in. The application needs to print NOT to the default printer, but to a "special" printer which is selected in the application... let's call it a label printer to simplify the explanation.
You have your default regular printer, easy for the application to find that one, and then you have a special printer that labels get printed onto. The application needs to know what printer is the label printer. So we allow the user to select that in the
application and the selection is stored in a config file in
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
I don't have access to the application so I can't change how this works.
In the "regular" world, selecting the label printer driver to use should be per machine, NOT per user. When a new user logs into a machine, the physical printer doesn't go "poof" and a new printer suddenly appear. Same printer for all
    users.
Yet in terminal services, the physical machine is "merged" with the virtual machine on the server. And there can be many users logged in at the same time. So each users real machine (and real printer) is injected into the "fake" terminal
services machine. The name of the printers is made unique for each user. So the printers DO go "poof" and change names depending on the user logged into terminal services.
So user "A" logs in and sets up the application to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" (or whatever the name of the printer happens to be), that setting is stored in the ProgramData subfolder, and all is well. Later, user "B" logs
in, and when they print, the application tries to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" which doesn't exist for user B or is only accessible by user A. If user B re-configures, that breaks it for user A.
SOLUTION 1: The way that /should/ work (in my mind) is that you define one "generic" printer in Terminal Services... call it "Virtual Label printer" and when the user wants to print to it, the print job gets re-directed back to whatever
physical printer is actually connected to their local workstation. There is a map of virtual printer to actual printer depending on the current user. The application is told once to print to "Virtual Label Printer" for all users.
SOLUTION 2: Or... there should be some way to make the ProgramData sub folders separate per user. E.g. when user "A" tries to access:
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    they actually get
    C:\UserData\UserA\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    and user "B" gets
    C:\UserData\UserB\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
So the question I have is: Does either of those solutions exist hidden somewhere in the setup of terminal server? Or is there another way around this issue that I don't know?

I don't really have a "for sure" answer to this, but because people here can't seem to deal with a question that hasn't been answered I'll provide the best answer I did receive from ServerFault.com user Nathan:
I can feel your pain with using old software on terminal servers ...the solution I've come up with definitely won't scale as it requires some manual configuration, but I've gotten this method to work with our label printers (which require to be
printed to an LPT port...yep, that old).
Share your USB-connected printers to the network on each machine. Then, have the user log in on aunique session for each of them
(a TS account cannot be shared among computers for this to work) and install a network printer pointing to the USB one they shared. Try to use a DNS name to account for possible DHCP movements.
After, it should work. Each user can do this since display names can be identical as long as the ports are different (which they are).
This was clarified by the following series of comments:
I think you are on to something here, and I originally advised the admin to do this. The problem he ran into is that it setup the printer names in the TS as "printer on usersworkstation"
and he could not rename it except to change the "printer" to whatever. E.g. the "on userworkstation" remained. I believe there is another way of installing the printer which avoids this, but I can't find it. Ages ago, one used to do NET
USE LPT2 \\computer\printer password /USER:domain\user /PERSISTENT:YES and then tell the driver to print to LPT2 –  James

@JamesNewton That's actually the exact method we used. The way around the "network printer" part is to install it as local printer and map it to a TCP/IP port that way. –  Nathan

You mean in the case where the printers are TCP/IP connected and not local USB / LPT to the users workstation? That makes sense. Wonder if this will work for USB connected printers... –  James

@JamesNewton You'd share the local printer on the client's PC then on the server connect via TCP/IP to it. You'd need static addresses or use DNS names if DHCP, though. –  Nathan

  • Can I have multiple stream types in one object?

For my final project in my data commucnications class I'm writing a client/server socket application that will allow multiple clients to play TicTacToe simultaneously against the game on the server. The teacher is a C/C++ jock, and knows very little Java. We're free to choose any language that will do sockets, and I love Java and don't love C++.
I've built the GUI, and got it to the point that I can reliably connect multiple clients on different machines in the school lab to the Server object, which accepts the new sockets and creates a new thread of ServerGame to do the playing in response to the client's moves. A mousePressed() detects clicks in the grid, and modifies a string to contain the status of the game. I've used a BufferedReader and PrintWriter combination on both sides, to send the GameString back and forth, starting with "---------", then the client makes a move and it changes to "X--------" and the PrintWriter sends it over and the ServerGame makes a move to "X---O----" and send it back, etc, etc. You get the idea. I have a ways to go with the implementation of strategy stuff for the ServerGame's moves, but I like it so far. But now I realize it would be really cool to add to it.
What I want to do, since there can be multiple players, is have a way that it can be like a TicTacToe club. At any one time, it would be nice to be able to know who else is playing and what their won/loss record is. I plan a Player object, with String name, int wins, losses, ties, gets and sets. With Textfields and a Sign In button I should be able to send the Player name to the Server, which can look up the name in a Vector of Player objects , find the one that matches, and sends the Player object for that name over to the Client, and also provide it to the ServerGame. Each player's won/loss record will be updated as the play continues, and the record will be "stored" in the Server's vector when he "logs off". Updates shouldn't be too hard to manage.
So, with that as the description, here's the question -- most streams don't handle Objects. I see that ObjectInputStream and ObjectOutputStream do. So -- am I headed for trouble in using multiple stream objects in an application? I suppose I could just use the object streams and let them send out a serialized String. In other words, I want to add this to my program, but I don't want to lose too much time finding out for myself if it works one way or the other. I already have working code for the String. Without giving too much away, can anyone give me some general guidance here?

Anyway, here's the present roadblock that's eating into the time I have left. I've spent many happy hours looking for what I'm missing here, and I'm stumped, real-time.
I found it was no problem to just send everything over and back with ObjectInputStream and ObjectOutputStream. From the client I send a String with the state of the game, and can break it down and code for decisions in the server as to a response and send the new String back to the client. I now have a Player class with Strings name and password, ints wins, losses, ties. I have a sign-in in the client GUI and old "members" of the club are welcomed and matched with their Player object stored in a Vector, and new members are welcomed and added to the Vector. My idea is to make the Vector static so the clients can have access to the Vector through their individual threads of the Game in the server. That way I should be able to make it so that any one player can have in his client window a TextArea listing who's playing right now, with their won-loss record, and have it updated, real-time.
The problem is that in my test-program for the concept, I can get a Player object to go back and forth, I can make changes in it and send it back and have it display properly at either end after a change. What I'm aiming at in the end is the ability to pass a copy of the Vector object from the server to the client, for updating the status of everyone else playing, and when there's a win or loss in an individual client, it should be able to tell its own server thread and through that update the Vector for all to access. Sounds OK to me, but what's happening is that the Vector that goes into the pipe at the server is not the same as the Vector that comes out the pipe into the client. I've tried all the tricks I can think of using console System.out.println()'s, and it's really weird.
I build a dummy Vector in the constructor with 4 Players. I can send a message to the server that removes elementAt(0), and tell it to list the contents of the Vector there, and sure enough the first element is gone, and the console shows a printout of the contents of all the remaining Player objects and their members. But when I writeObject() back to the client, the whole Vector arrives at the client end. Even after I've removed all the Player elements one by one, I receive the full original Vector in the client. I put it into a local Vector cast from the readObject() method. I believe that should live only as long as the method. I even tried putting clear() at the end of the method, so there wouldn't be anything lingering the next time I call the method that gets the Vector from the server.
What seems the biggest clue is that now I've set up another method and a button for it, that gets the elementAt(0) from the server Vector, changes the name and sends it back. Again, after the regular call to get the Vector sent over, it shows in the server console that one element has been removed. And one by one the element sent over from (0) is the one that was bumped down to fill the space from removeElementAt(). But in the client, the console shows 4 objects in the Vector, and one by one, starting at (0), the Player whose name was changed fills in right up to the top of the Vector.
So something is persisting, and I just can't find it.
The code is hundres of lines, so I hesitate to send it in here. I just hope this somewhat lengthy description tips off someone who might know where to look.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi tchmielewski,
You should look into [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-firefox-sync Firefox Sync]. I think it will do everything that you are asking for. This will allow you to have all of your Firefox preferences and settings shared across multiple computers.
You could also create a backup on a USB drive in case of catastrophic failture. I would suggest that you back up your personal information and bookmarks using the article [[Backing up your information]].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Multiple Checkbox Values Into One Field

Hopefully someone can help me with this issue I'm having.
I'm trying to save the values of multiple selected checkboxes into one field separated by commas through ADDT's Insert Transaction code. I can do this easily with DW's standard insert record wizard by using the PHP implode() function but I haven't been able to figure it out with ADDT's code.
    <form>
    <input type="checkbox" value="1" name="program[]" /> Program One
    <input type="checkbox" value="2" name="program[]" /> Program Two
    <input type="checkbox" value="3" name="program[]" /> Program Three
    <input type="checkbox" value="4" name="program[]" /> Program Four
    </form>
    THIS IS ADDT'S CODING
    $ins_quoteManager->addColumn("programs", "STRING_TYPE",  "POST", "programs");
THIS WORKS VIA DREAMWEAVER'S INSERT RECORD WIZARD
    Original: GetSQLValueString($_POST['programs'], "text"),
    Modified: GetSQLValueString(implode(',',$_POST['programs']), "text"),
Anyone know how to modify the ADDT code with the implode function to get this to work?

Have you tried ADDT´s "comma-separated checkboxes" form control, which will also store the values into a field of your choice (and of course retrieve them from there on update record - pages) ? The only possible drawback might be, that the checkboxes can´t be defined statically, means that the array of value/label - pairs will be retrieved from another table by establishing an additional recordset.
    Cheers,
    Günter

  • Multiple iPad sync on one computer fail

I am confused about how to maintain two iPads on one computer.  Try it and I get dialog boxes threatening to erase all the content on one iPad.  Do I creat multiple libraries? That seems risky in light of the "threat" message in the dialog boxes. Is there a simpler way. Why can't I just plug iPad #1 and iPad #2 into a computer and have iTunes recognize that each one should have a separate library? This seems really silly.

  • How do I manage multiple Iphone accounts on one computer

My wife desperaely needed to back up her iPhone (been over teo years).  I didn't want to do this given that she woulde lose two years worth of data, but we decided to plow ahead.  I hit the update button and was advised that there was an earlier backup from last fall.  I said I wated to use that back up.  Unfortunately it was a backup for my daughter's iphone 5c and now my wife's phone is simply a clone of the 5C.  What can I do to pul at least some of her account information back out and show her iPhone again on the devices list?

    It certainly is possible.

Frankly, you are better off with unique Windows User accounts for each user.

  • Can i setup multiple Apple IDs on one computer

    Hi
My partner and I recently sold our laptops and bought an iMac and want to keep our itunes, music, playlists separate.  Is it possible to setup multiple Apple IDs on one computer?
    Thanks
    Denise

Each person in your home can have their own Apple ID provided it is tied the their own separate email address.
iTunes permits up to five authorized computers connected to a single Apple ID: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
For this all to work well, however, each user in your household should have a separate user account on the computer they commonly use.

  • How do I run multiple java apps in one JVM to reduce memory use?

    Hi all,
I saw an article either on the web or in a magazine not too long ago about how to "detect" if the app is already running, and if so, it hands off the new instance to the already running JVM, which then creates a thread to run the Java app in. As it turns out, my app will be used in an ASP environment, through Citrix. We may have as many as 50 to 100 users running the same app, each with their own unique user ID, but all using the same one server to run it on. Each instance eats up 25MB of memory right now. So the question is if anybody knows of a URL or an app like this that can handle the process of running the same (or even different Java) apps in one JVM as separate threads, instead of requring several instances of the JVM to run? I know this article presented a fully working example, and I believe I know enough to do it but I wanted ot use the article as a reference to make sure it is done right. I know that each app basically would use the same one "launcher" program that would on first launch "listen" to a port, as well as send a message through the port to see if an existing launcher was running. If it does, it hands off the Java app to be run to the existing luancher application and shuts down the 2nd launching app. By using this method, the JVM eats up its normal memory, but each Java app only consumes its necessary memory as well and doesn't use up more JVM instance memory.
    Thanks.

  • How do I: put multiple PDF pictures into one PDF page?

I have just installed Adobe Acrobat Pro Ver 9 - so this apllication and its associated SDK are the only applications available to me for use.
Adobe Acrobat was chosen because of its AutoCAD capabilities (when AutoCAD is not present). i.e.  Using Acrobat & AutoCAD's plot configuration files & Pen / colour selection table ensures the output has correct line thicknesses (sometimes colours in CAD are used to represent a line's thickness) - this is preserved when using Acrobat.
The generated output is fantastic. However, when I try to print the output via Excel / Word (used for layout) - my perfect output is reduced to imperfect results.
So: is it possible to layout multiple PDF pictures inside one PDF entity for printing purposes such that the original output is not distorted?
I have in the past put pages in front or behind other pages but cannot find any references or code that works with Pro 9 nor indeed the manual way to insert PDF pages at any location on a single PDF Page?
I'll try and explain.  My template coud consist of 6 boxes on a single A4 page thus:
My base PDF Page (can be thought of as a template - ideally it wont be printed - but even if it is - it wont be printed on any media material) has 6 areas (any number of areas up to 100) on it.  In each area, there is a box.  It is within these boxes that I wish to place a PDF Picture.  Not all pictures will be the same.  How can I do that?  Ideally I'd like some example C# code - though doing it as a user will suffice, for now.
Is there a way of programmatically selecting each of the above boxes on the base PDF Document?
I do know of one manual method (though it seems long winded) and it is not accurate enough in that (even though the layers are deselected) - the hidden layers are subsequently outputed too - not good!
Uses a button icon over each box.
All the current Adobe help for the SDK refers to Pro 8 and previously - which all seems to have now been replaced in Pro 9
This question will be placed in the Developer & User Forums - as it pertains to both.
Thankyou in advance for anyone that either knows any workarounds or any ways to affect a solution.

Picture of what I want to see:
What I get, and don't want to see is:
The PDF was generated using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 from an AutoCAD LT (DWG) file without AutoCAD being present but making use of a plot configuration (PC3) file & pen table (CTB) file.  The resultant file [WhatIWantToSee.pdf] is perfect - all the lines are the right thickness & colour and are perfect vectors (with no construction / proofing layers visible).  When you view that file in Acrobat and show the "Layers" property box, you see that the correct number of layers whilst are still present are indeed turned off.
However, when I add a forms-button to one of the rectangles (please refer to initial post - where there are 6 rectangles), and display same file as icon display.  The resultant view is the one shown above named [ What I get and don't want to see].  It seems the saved layer settings are all ignored?
I generated the PDF file through Adobe Acrobat Pro 9  Menu | File | Create PDF | From File (Files of type Autodesk) | Options | Selected Layers | Layout | Last Active Layout.
Rectangles are regular content elements - not fields (in the general meaning of form-fields).

  • In Pages (5.5.1) can I create multiple Paragraph Styles within one paragraph?

In Pages (5.5.1) can I create multiple Paragraph Styles within one paragraph.
I need to make a table of contents for my Mater's Thesis and want to use the automatic table of contents feature.  I want the first sentence of a paragraph to have a different paragraph setting than the rest of the paragraph.  Is this possible?
    Thanks!

Nice of you to be doing this for your Mother's Thesis.
    There are several issues here:
    1. A Paragraph Style is what it says, the style for the paragraph
    2. You can format text within a paragraph by applying a Character Style
    3. Pages 5.5.1 lets you apply formatting to overall text for the T.O.C. but not parts of it and you can not retain that formatting as a Paragraph style
So in answer to your question, no.
You will need to create the T.O.C. manually and unfortunately as Pages 5.5.1 can't create bookmarks (just one of over 100 missing features) you will be unable to link the T.O.C. to the referred pages in the list.
