Multiple dsl connections in Single Router

Hi,
I am trying to terminate two dls connections to the same provider in a single router. I have two HWIC interfaces in the Router. The router is a Cisco 1841 series.
When the dsl line is connected to Slot 0, router is connects without issue. When I connect to the HWIC is Slot 1, the dsl continues to terminate in on Dialer 1 which is bound to the HWIC in Slot 0.
The following is a snip of the config:
interface ATM0/0/0
no ip address
no atm ilmi-keepalive
dsl operating-mode auto
pvc 8/35
pppoe-client dial-pool-number 1
interface ATM0/1/0
no ip address
no atm ilmi-keepalive
dsl operating-mode auto
pvc 8/35
pppoe-client dial-pool-number 3
interface Dialer1
ip address negotiated
encapsulation ppp
ip tcp adjust-mss 1452
no ip mroute-cache
dialer pool 1
dialer remote-name isp-1-instance1
dialer-group 1
ppp authentication chap callin
ppp chap hostname isp-name-here-1
ppp chap password 7 1234567
interface Dialer2
ip address negotiated
encapsulation ppp
ip tcp adjust-mss 1452
no ip mroute-cache
dialer pool 3
dialer remote-name isp-1-instance2
dialer-group 3
ppp authentication chap callin
ppp chap hostname isp-name-here-2
ppp chap password 2345678
If anyone has any suggestions as it relates to the above, I would really welcome suggestions.
Thanks,
Ger.

I think the problem is in your "interface ATM0/1/0" which you have the line "pppoe-client dial-pool-number 3 " but you don't have the specific dialer interface which should be "interface Dialer3" when it can't find it, it uses "interface Dialer1". Try changing "pppoe-client dial-pool-number 3" to "pppoe-client dial-pool-number 2" in "interface ATM0/1/0"

  • Multiple DSL Connection

Hi folks. Hopefully someone has a solution for me.
A client of mine has a single DSL line and it isn't fast enough for his needs. So I thought of using a solution like back when the bound ISDN lines were used together to create a faster pipe.
How can I get faster speeds by using multi-channel DSL? Any routers out there that have this built in?
    Cheers

A true bonded dsl connection also requires the ISP to bond the 2 lines at their end also.
Load balancing does not join 2 dsl connection to 1 fat pipe it just share the load as the name suggests.

  • Multiple SRMs connected to single backend

Quick question, is it possible to connect 2 SRM systems to a single backend?
    Thanks

I think it's possible, but why do it?
    To think about:
    1. Middleware settings, each SRM system should have it's own user (replicating material groups, materials and services)
    2. RFC connections to each system
    3. Different number ranges for each SRM system for generated PO's, Reqs and so on
    4. What scenario?
    5. Vendor replication
    6. Just follow the configuration guide for a single system

  • Multiple VPN Connections through Wireless router

I have an old LinkSys Wireless router that I use at home to connect to my work's VPN. Recvently I've added a few machines to my network. I need 2 or 3 of them connected to the VPN at work simultaneously. However, if I connect more than one computer to the VPN one of them always drops. I cannot get more than one connection to the VPN. All 3 connections use a different ID and password so it is not an account problem.
My question is, is this a limitation of the older router? And if I get a new LinkSys Wireless-G router will that allow me to connect more than one machine to the VPN?
    Thank You,
    Jason

    Hi,
I'm facing the same issue. i have WRT54G.
You said something like "you will have to trigger the VPN ports instead of forwarding them."
Dunno what it means, can you explain it in more non-network-techy language... something which i can do... dunno if i can do it!
    Thanks,

  • Multiple WLANs & DSL connection

Has anyone had any experience with configuring multiple WLANs feeding into a single DSL connection?
I need to set up WLANs in 4 separate rooms that each have single cable back to a switch and a DSL connection.
The idea is that each room will be stand-alone as far as the WLAN is concerned and when they need Internet access they plug into the Ethernet port in the wall which is cabled back to the switch and DSL.
Each room will have a 4-port wireless router with DHCP server configured (the 4-ports are for those without wireless). Initially security won't be an issue but we realise that VLANs will probably be required down the track and a managed level-2 or 3 switch will be required. For now we are happy to just use separate wireless routers with minimum security.
I am assuming something like a WRT54G will do the job but how to configure the WLANs? Different SSIDs and channels? Could we use different networks (eg 192.168.1.x and 10.0.0.x) and then would we need to bridge them etc?
    K

Hi .. you can definitely configure the routers in the way you have described. You will have to set up different ssid and channel on each router in each room. Also you have to use different networks.Say eg 192.168.1.1 on the 1st router and 192.168.2.1 on the 2nd router and so on.

  • Multiple WAN connections all through one router with load balancing?

I am setting up a network in my dormatory for myself and about 20 friends. about half of us have DSL connections at the moment. Is there a way to have all the DSL connections (possibly run through cheap home DSL routers) all connect into a cisco router that then acts as the gateway for our entire network? woudl it be possible for each internet request to go out over the connection that has the least load AND also be able to use some sort of load balancing, so one user cant use all of the outgoing/incoming bandwidth?
If you have any ideas please let me know

    Hi Ian,
To get this working, you would either need to use something like PPP to bundle your links together or use a dynamic protocol.
In bundling the links, you could make them appear as one link, with a single IP address each end and the router takes care of distributing the load. To implement this though, you would need control of both sides of the link, or be terminating with one carrier who is happy to implement this for you.
The second is to use a dynamic protocol (such as eigrp, ospf, etc), which can build up a map of the network to router from point a to point b. For this you also need control of the link.
I can't think of another method, unless you can control the link from both sides. Your other option it to pool your money and buy a larger link or a leased line. If you bought a leased line or two, your carrier would be more than happy to talk to you about routing over that, but generally you're looking at mega bucks for that.

  • Multiple sessions in a single database connection.

I have copied the following text from Forms Developer2000
"At runtime, Form Builder automatically establishes and manages a single connection to ORACLE. By default, one user session is created for this connection. However, the multiple-sessioning feature of ORACLE allows a single client to establish multiple sessions within a single connection. ORACLE transaction-management and read-consistency features all are implemented at the session level, so creating multiple sessions allows a single user to have multiple, independent transactions."
If ORACLE allows a single client to establish multiple sessions within a single connection, I want to leverage on this feature in my application which uses BC4J.
    Can anybody tell me if
    1. its possible achieve this in Java(BC4J).
    2. If Yes, How?
    regards,
    vikrant

Thank you for your valuable suggestion.
I believe createing multiple root Application
Modules, will create as many number of connections to
    database, hence multiple transactions.
But What I wanted was multiple sessions in a single
connection, who's behavior will be similar to two
different connections.Could you tell me the advantage you're looking for in multiple sessions in one connection vs. multiple connections (where connections may be pooled)?
    Thanks.

  • How can I connect multiple clients to a single client ?

I am currently developing an instant messaging program.I created a server and connected multiple clients to it by using thread logic. However I do not know how to connect multiple client to a single client.
What shall I do for that?Does anybody know a good tutorial or sample program?Or shall anybody explain me what I shall do for building the Instant Messaging part of my chat program?
    Thank u in advance.

You may use UDP multicast socket. But since you are using the UDP protocol you might risk losing the data that you send since UDP does not guarantee the safe transfer of data.
Alternately, you might create a server that allows multiple client to connect to it whose connection Socket objects are then stored in a Vector <Socket> object. The server then sends back data to the connected client about the other clients connected to it. Now when the client wants to send data (like an IM) to another connected client, it has to send a request to the server specifying the client login name and the server in turn streams that particular client's Address and Port to the requesting client. The requesting client then initiates the connection with the other client and then starts a conversation. One more thing, when the client communicates it needs to send information to the server like the name by which it likes to be referenced. In this scenario the server acts like a central repository for clients to query the existence of other clients in the chat room. Each client here runs a thread that listens to incoming connections and when a connection is established, may be opens a IM window or something.
The third option is to make the server to relay the information from one client to another. Like say, I'm connected to whoopy server and i want to send "Hello" to jackson, then i send the message (ie, Hello) along with the name of the client to which i wish to send it to (ie, jackson). The server then performs a lookup in its Vector <Socket> object and then initiates a connection with jackson and sends the information. However, this method is pretty costly in that you will be wasting a lot of processing behind the server.

  • Possibility of connecting multiple BW systems to single ECC system

    Hi all,
I have a requirement in my company to connect multiple BW systems to single ECC system. Would like to confirm whether this may not be supported by all BW extractors in particular the delta mechanism?
For logistics extractor in ECC side in RSA7 it stores BW System as target which shows they support multiple BW systems as target, but for FI extractors which keeps delta timestamps in BWOM2_TIMEST table, it doesn't store the target system. I'm afraid if we connect multiple BW systems to single ECC system, some of the delta records might go to one BW system and some others go to the other BW system when we execute delta load in both BW systems.
Thank you very much in advance.
    regards,
    arie

    Hi,
You can very well connect multiple BW systems to single ECC system and you will not miss any delta as well. In the source system for each delta data source a delta queue is maintained for each target system.
for e.g. I have two BW systems ABW and BBW connected to AEC system then for 0FI_AP_4 data source we will have DQ1_ABW and DQ2_BBW as two different delta queues (I am not following any naming conventions, actual names will be as per the target system logical name).
The settings maintained in BWOM2_TIMEST table are across the system and they define some global settings e.g. till what time the FI data should be extracted in BW system, for e.g. the time maintained is 2.00 AM then though you do extraction from multiple systems same data will be extracted till next time interval occurs.
In summery you can very well connect multiple BW systems to a single ECC system.

  • DSL Connection Very slow ONLY when using wireless router

My DSL connection was running super slow (approx 136 Kbs) - I disconnected the Linksys wireless router and plugged by DSL modem directly into the computer.  Then my internet speed increased to 1.4 Mbs (a 10 fold increase).
Any suggestions on how / why my speed drops so extensively when using the Linksys wireless routher (wrt45g).
    Thanks

Are you using the same test each time to measure the speed?
The reason I ask is that Windows usually reports its download speed in KB/sec (Kilobytes per second).  But most web (internet) speed tests report their speed in Mbps (Megabits per second.)
A 1.4 Mbps line will typically pass data at about 140KB/sec.
To help determine what kind of problem you are having, do the same speed test in 3 different ways:
    1)  Connect one computer, by wire, directly to your modem
    2)  Connect one computer, by wire, directly to your router  (all other computers and network devices should be off).
    3)  Connect one computer, wirelessly, to your router  (all other computers and network devices should be off).
Report back your results, and also, please state what line speed you are paying for.  Once we have this, we will hopefully be able to help you.

  • Creating Multiple LibrarySession (Connection Pool), Using single LibraryService

    Hello,
I am trying to create multiple LibrarySession with a single LibraryService, so that each user can pick a new session from a pool and release LibrarySession back to the pool, when the user task is been completed.
    Question.
    1. Is it possible to create LibrarySession Pool ?
    2. If yes, Can any one suggest, whether there will be any improvement in the performance of the application by doing so, or Oracle IFS internally handles the connection pool mechanism for LibrarySession.
    3. Does Oracle IFS handle LibrarySession pool internally.
If there is any code, which does similar action, please do forward.
    Best Regards
    Sujeem Haries

Sujeem, we do not pool LibrarySession instances for you. You may see a performance improvement if you maintain a LibrarySession pool, depending on the application. See the following post for more info:
    Oracle Security & PAM
Please note that although LibrarySession instances are not pooled for you, the underlying database connections are pooled.

  • Computer dsl connection after router hookup

I am very confused.  Have a home computer with dsl connection.  I went thru the CD directions and hooked up my wireless router.  Everything seemed fine, but when I went to go to the internet (aol mail, etc.) my dsl connection was gone.  I lost my dsl connection.  Couldn't get ANY help at the 800 tech support.  So i unplugged the router wires and put everything back the way it was.  Then I could get dsl connection, and went to the online website 24-hour support.  Told them everything that happened, and all I got was "I am sorry for the inconvenience", then silence.
Why do I lose my regular dsl connection after I hook up the wireless router???  Am i doing something wrong?  HELP!

Hey try resetting the router reset button in such a way that power
light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power
cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router &
then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are
solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out
    it will definately work!!
    Configuration for DSL connection:-
Before doing the following steps, you have to connect the modem to the
router's Internet Port and the computer to the Ethernet Port Number 1.
    1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
    2. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for
    another 30 Seconds.
    3. Plug back the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button
    for 30 Seconds.
    4. Release the reset button.
