Multiple executions of an application?

I've built an application using LabVIEW 8.20 proessional.  One of my users has complained that he can't open it multiple times, as you can with say Internet Explorer.  It's a utility app - there shouldn't be any issues with running multiple instances (or if there are any then I should be able to find ways around them).  This ability would be really useful.
Is it possible to build an app in such a way that you can click its shortcut a second or third time and open another instance of it?
Thanks
-Sean.

Try adding the line AllowMultipleInstances=True in your app's INI file under the [exe name] section (create it if it does not exist). It worked in previous versions and I assume it still should.
Try to take over the world!

How is it possible that one SQL statement will have multiple Executions Plans within the same AWR report. If you're using bind variables and you've histograms on your columns which can be created by default in 10g due to the "SIZE AUTO" default "method_opt" parameter of DBMS_STATS.GATHER__STATS it is quite normal that you get different execution plans for the same SQL statement. Depending on the values passed when the statement is hard parsed (this feature is called "bind variable peeking" and enabled by default since 9i) an execution plan is determined and re-used for all further executions of the same "shared" SQL statement.
If now your statement ages out of the shared pool or is invalidated due to some DDL or statistics gathering activity it will be re-parsed and again the values passed in that particular moment will determine the execution plan. If you have skewed data distribution and a histogram in place that reflects that skewness you might get different execution plans depending on the actual values used.
Since this "flip-flop" behaviour can sometimes be counter-productive if you're unlucky and the values used to hard parse the statement leading to a plan that is unsuitable for the majority of values used afterwards, 11g introduced the "adaptive" cursor sharing that attempts to detect such a situation and can automatically re-evaluate the execution plan of the statement.

  • Multiple versions of an application on one Forms Server

Is it possible to have multiple versions of an application available via one Forms Server?
We have a DEV, TEST and PROD version of an application and we would like to have the versions seperate on one Forms Server.
Would this be possible using any other Oracle tools (Portal)?
    Thanks for your help.

Yes, all you have to do is create a batch file which sets the env variables you want and also starts up the forms listener on a different port. This way you can have a forms listener on e.g.
    Port 9000 With Forms60_Path - c:\temp
    Port 9001 With Forms60_Path - c:\Production
    Port 9002 With Forms60_Path - c:\test
That way you will pick up different files as well.

  • How to use/sync single data (file) across multiple instances of same application

Currently we have an application (a diagram editor), that have the ability to save and load (serialize) its state in a xml file.
Now we want this application to behave like Microsoft OneNote application. Where multiple users have the ability to access the same file.
Later we may also need to enhance with other things like, (1)what is changed and who changed it, (2)option to resolve conflicts if any.
I came to know about sync framework to resolve this. so far, i have not tried it.
    All i want is,
Virtually single file should be edited by multiple instances of same application.
We need a dll (sync framework) that does following
It takes complete responsibility of file handling.
Using this dll, each instance of the application will notify their own changes.
Each instance of the application should have the ability to detect the changes that is recently made (when, who, what are the changes).
    My question:
Will sync framework be suitable for this requirement?
If so, is there a demo application that represents this?
    - Jegan

Seems like I have found the solution.
In the taskflow there is a property named data-control-scope and I set it to isolated instead of the default (shared) and this seemed to do the trick.
I can now have two instances of the same taskflow running with different ApplicationModules

Yes, though it is hard to predict by how much. When debugging is
enabled, after each node on the diagram there will be a small amount of
compiled code to test if the VI has a probe, a breakpoint, execution
hiliting, or the pause button is pressed. The code is quite small,
about two or three instructions, but if you have twenty nodes in a loop
and the nodes are doing simple math, these instructions could be 25%
overhead. For more complex nodes or datatypes, these instructions turn
into a fraction of a percent.
Turn it off and measure. If you have other performance problems, read
the documentation on the profiler and use it to help you find yo

  • Is there any way to upload Tariff Code (with multiple XML files) from application server?

    Hi All,
Is there any way to upload Tariff Code (with multiple XML files) from application server?. Its urgent.
    Regards,
    Jatin

    Hi Jatin,
Yes, of course you can upload multiple files for tariff codes.
This can be done by the below path:-
SAP GTS Cockpit(tcode-/sapsll/menu_legal)-->Customs Management-->Classification-->Classification Master Data-->Upload Tariff Code Numbers from XML file(tocde- /SAPSLL/LLNS_UPL101).
In the above area after browsing and choosing the first file, please select multiple check box to choose more files as well. Then you can further select your application server and upload all those files in one go.
PS:- Although, we have an option to upload multiple such files but actually we should avoid multiple file uploads due to various reasons. Hence, please take utmost care during such procedure.

  • Running multiple User Profile Service Applications -- recommendations, pitfalls, etc.

I have a farm with one WFE, one APP, and one SQL server. The User Profile Service runs on both WFE and APP, the User Profile Sync Service is on the APP server. There is a single User Profile service application running that pulls from 4 different AD
import sources: two in the US, one in London, and one in Mexico.
There is a nightly incremental synch.
There is an issue where the London users need the synch to occur hourly.
There are some complexities with one of the US sources in that would make it difficult to run the current User Profile service hourly, plus there is a performance concern.
I'm interested in possibly creating a second User Profile Service Application that reads only from London and runs hourly.
Beyond creating the User Profile service and scheduling hourly, what should I be concerned about?
Will I need to (re)create new Audiences based on those from the original User Profile Service App? Run them immediately after User Profiles? Will there be an interruption in access during that gap?
    Recreate custom User Properties?
    Recreate any Forefront modifications?
    New Profile/Sync/Social DBs?
    etc?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use multiple user profile service application.
Yes, you can do it. Only one user profile application can be configured to work with the Profile Synchronization Instance. If you want more UPS instance, you need to start UPS on different server.

  • How do you create multiple execution windows for a custom opterator interface

I am starting to create a custom operator interface for TestStand 3.5 using Labview 8.0.  This is my first exposure to custom operator interfaces (and ActiveX).  The example operator interfaces have only one execution window that changes based on the executions combo box.  My sequence is going to be run with the parallel sequence model (2 test sockets).  So I want my custom operator interface to have 2 execution windows, one for each test socket.  How can I do this?  I created a second execution window but it just mirrors the first execution window.

    Hi, All:
With the similar approach, I create a multiple window user interface with CVI. Although it can run, the Execution view doesn't display
anything while execution. In my user interface, there is an applicaiton manager resident in Parent form, and every child forms has
    itsown Exection view and Manager.
Referred to the C# sample, in the function rivate void DisplayExecution(Execution execution)
if (executionForm == null) // execution is not in a form, make a new form
        executionForm = new ExecutionForm(this, this.axApplicationMgr, execution);
        this.mChildFormsKeyedByViewMgr.Add(executionForm.GetViewMgr().GetOcx(), executionForm);
        SetNewChildFormLocation(executionForm);
I guess the execution form "hook" the exectuion view manager via Add(), so the exectuion view can be updated properly.
And according to reference manual of teststand, it mentions that "The application sets the ExecutionViewMgr.UserData property to
attach a handle, reference, or pointer that represents the window." But when I try to utilize this method, I got 2 problems:
    1. How to get a window handle of a CVI panel? As execution view are resident in child panels, so I may need the window handle of
     individual child panels.
    2. Even the window hanlde is gotten, how can I convert it to a VARIANT Type? According to the function panle of
TSUI_ExecutionViewMgrSetUserData (, NULL, ), the last parameter is a "VARIANT".
Any comments or instructions for my assumption?
    Thank you for your help.

  • How to use one application with multiple schema without copying application?

    Hi,
Previously we are using oracle forms and by that we can manage by using a set of folders containing fmx and use different schema/database for different customers. so the source code comes from one individual file but used for different database users.
is it possible to do this without copying application in apex?
reason is because if applications are copied for each customer, and in a situation where a page has a bug, the developer must correct multiple pages across all the application. This would not be appropriate to manage.
could this be done in apex? or is there any other approach?

    Hi,
An application is tied to its parsing schema, so it is not possible to have one code base which you can then point to different schemas. I have seen some threads relating to dynamically setting the parsing schema, but I don't think it has worked to well, and would not be a supported configuration by Oracle.
The normal way to do this is to have one schema and for each entity where it is logical you will have an extra key which is the customer id. I mention where it is logical, because not every entity needs its own data defined by customer. Some data will be common across all customers, such as lookup data and some entities will comprise child entities by which the data separation will be implied by the parent. You can then use Oracle's Virtual Private Database feature to implement a seperate view of the data through the application, based most likely on the customer who is logged on.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards

  • How to do single sign on for multiple webservices in flex application

I have created a flex application and using few webservices in that application. When I run the application its asking logon details for each and every webservice I used. However I want to do single sign On without providing logon details for each and every webservice. Please suggest me.

    Hi,
if yout projects are deployed in their own Java EE context root then you have multiple applications, though logically you count them as one. Use OSSO or Oracle SSO (where OSSO should be fine since all deployments share the same instance)

  • Performance issue with multiple installations of 1 application in 1 databas

In our company we use JD Edwards. Every branch has its own JD Edwards installation in a separate schema but in the same database (Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.7.0) => In 1 database there are 10-20 copies of each table.
On top of JD Edwards we are developing a Java/JSP application which accesses the JD Edwards data by means of pl/sql stored functions returning ref_cursors. Our DBA states we have to prefix all our tables/views within our stored functions for performance reasons. According to him omitting the schema name would result in increase of hard parses, because the shared_pool can only store 1 occurrence of an sql statement. So only the statement of 1 branch is cached. The execution of the same statement in anothers schema would lead to a hard parse and not to a soft parse.
For us developers the use of schema names complicates the development process, because we have to use a substitution parameter (&schema_name) in our coding which prevents us from maintaining our code in tools like Toad.
    Questions
    * Does it make sense to use the schema name in this case?
    * Is there another way (not using schema names) to get a good performance in this situation?
    Thanks,
    Matthieu de Graaf

    1) I'm not a JD Edwards person, but I would wager that if you're to the point where you have consolidated all the schemas to a single instance that it would be possible and preferrable to consolidate everything further into a single schema. I have to believe that JD Edwards provides tools to restrict what bits a particular branch can see without requiring separate instances.
    2) What data are you accessing exactly? Are you always accessing data for a particular branch? Or do you need information from every branch?
    3) Is your application logging in as a single user? Or will there be 1 application user for every JD Edwards schema?
    4) Are you deploying your PL/SQL into 10-20 different schemas? Or into just 1?
Whether or not you are explicitly using the schema name, Oracle will have to do a hard parse of every logically distinct SQL statement. Two SQL statements that access different tables that happen to share the same name are logically distinct, so your shared pool will end up with 10-20 copies of the "SELECT * FROM <<some table name>>" SQL statement if it is executed against every instance of <<some table name>>.
The question may be whether it is better to explicitly provide the schema name or to rely on synonyms. You generate the same number of hard parses either way, but explicit schema names may improve latch contention during parses if Oracle has to do a lot of synonym resolution. Not many people/ applications are really hurt by this latch contention, though, so it is very hard to say whether this is a legitimate concern.
