Multiple Headings in a Report with Optional Sections

I’m trying to create a BI publisher document that has a main section and two optional sections. The report is for an Oracle Apex 4.1 application so user responses regarding the sections they require is via an apex page. Apex allows session state variables to be included in the report data xml so the user responses are stored in the data xml. I’m using an RTF template. The problem is that the optional sections need to have different headings from the main report (and each other) and start on a new page. I just cannot get this report to work. I either end up with headings on blank pages or just blank pages when the user chooses not to have the optional sections.
The queries for the optional sections have been structured in such way that they will only return rows if the user has selected the optional sections.
This is what I’ve tried so far:
Section breaks before the optional sections: The headers for the optional sections appear regardless of whether there’s any data to show. I have to use a section break that will produce a page break because we want the optional sections to start on their own page. Even if I surround the section break and the rowset for the optional section with an if statement I still get a heading on a blank page.
Taking this a stage further if I try to suppress the header by completely surrounding it with an if statement with the appropriate report variable ie
<?if:optional_section_1 = ‘Y’?>
Heading text
<?end if?>
I just get a blank page instead.
If I use the same header and footer throughout the document and use normal page breaks with the optional sections the report works fine.
Templates: I’ve tried splitting the optional parts of the report into sub templates that have their own headings but these headings don’t show up at all in the final report.
Start body/end body tags: That is placing the headers actually in the document text (rather than the actual headers and footers) but outside of these tags. I end up with both headers for the optional parts in my output document. The Oracle documentation “Creating Multiple or Complex Header and Footers” is rather sparse and the example doesn’t really cover what it purports to cover i.e. a document with multiple headings. I’ve done plenty of Google searches regarding this and cannot find any good examples.

can you send me your template and xml to my email . I can try at my side : [email protected]

  • Crystal Report with Optional Parameters from Stored Procedure

I have a client who created a Crystal Report. This report is linked to a Stored Procedure which allows for input on two criteria. Both of these critera are static values. However, the second of these parameters is setup to allow the user to enter up to 20 values. For example, the Stored Procedure needs the CARDCODE, and a set of DOCUMENTS. So the parameters/prompts would look like this...
    BP CardCode:
    Document1:
    Document2:
    Document3:
    ...etc...
The report will just display basic document information for those documents that were entered.
With 8.8, these parameters were changed to be REQUIRED.... not OPTIONAL. According to SAP note 1500777, this is a known bug and will be fixed in future versions. This note also states to change the criteria for the filter. However, when using a Stored Procedure, this does not appear to be an option, as the selection is defined by the data connection (and the parameters defined in the SP).
Am I missing something? Is there a way to make the suggetion in the above note work with my Stored Procedure?
Or, is there another way to make these parameters optional? (Do I need to change the SP?)
    Thanks!

  • Multiple scheduling for same reports (with different prompt)

    Hi,
I have to plan the scheduling of 10 reports (refresh and then .pdf generating). But i have to refresh these reports for 15 countries each time (prompt different between each instance).
So it will be 10*15=150 refresh done on the database !! Is it possible to make a 'massive' refresh (for all countries) and only filter by country when generated the input format (.pdf) ?
What is the best practice ?

    Hi
then you should definitely take a look at the publications.

  • JRC - multiple tables in crystal report

    Post Author: Crystal Wong
    CA Forum: JAVA
    Hi, I am using the Java Reporting component of Crystal Report XI R2 SP2. I encounter error when pushing 2 Java resultset to a report as a datasource, like the code belows, ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();          reportClientDoc.open(REPORT_NAME, 0); String query1 = "SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2 FROM TABLE1" ;ResultSet resultSet1 = getResultSetFromQuery(query1, ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE); String tableAlias1 = reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().getDatabase().getTables().getTable(0).getAlias();reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(resultSet1, tableAlias1 , tableAlias1); String query1 = "SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2 FROM TABLE2" ;ResultSet resultSet2 = getResultSetFromQuery(query2, ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE);String tableAlias2 = reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().getDatabase().getTables().getTable(1).getAlias();reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(resultSet2, tableAlias2 , tableAlias2); I wanna to ask, Does JRC support multiple tables in a report with the approach suggested above? Thanks a lot!

Finally, I decided to use a join SQL or SubReport to do it.SubReport can support multiple pushing of ResultSet.

  • Report Painter - copy sections

I am doing a report with some sections in the Report Painter. Is it possoble to copy a section to a new section?
    Regards

    HI,
no I am pretty sure its not possible to copy a section to another section. You can copy the whole report (and change/delete sections in the copy) but the first time sections need to be defined manually if no copy-source exists.

  • OBIEE Date Comparison report with multiple measures

    Hello everyone...
I have a requirement where I need to create a date comparison report (Current Month vs. Prior Month vs Prior Month Year Ago vs YTD vs Prior YTD vs Rolling 3 months, etc) with multiple Measures (Quote count, Quote offered count, New Business count, etc). I am to generate this report in this fashion:
Quotes Current Month vs PM vs YoY Prior
Month Current Month Prior Year Current
    YTD vs PM Prior
YTD Rolling 3 Months vs PM Prior Rolling 3 Months
    Issued 120 120 123 1400 1020 1700 1580
    Unique Risks
    Offered 556 449 571 5881 6220 6101 5892
    Unique Risk Close Ratio
    Offered Close Ratio 21.6% 26.7% 21.5% 23.8% 16.4% 27.9% 26.8%
    Bitmap
    Avg Issued Premium 240 238 222 2801 2630 3104 2892
    Avg Offered Premium
    New Business
    Count
    Avg Full Term Premium
I understand that time series is an option, and have created the time series (which show up as measures).
    My problem is:
when creating the report (even as a pivot table) , OBIEE is not allowing me to drag the measure to rows, nor is it allowing me to drag the time series to columns. Also, I need to do conditional formating on some of the columns showing an up arrow for increased vs. prior month and down arrow for decreased vs. prior month.
Does anyone have a solution for this issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...
    Please advise and thanks!!!

    Jason,
You've been very helpful, but I guess I'm just not explaining myself that well. The Credit Memo's throw things off because they do not contain a "Paid Date" value. That field in the record is blank. Since it is blank the report query ignores them. Therefore when the report query returns all records that have a "Paid date" range of "x to y" they are never returned. This is a problem whenever a credit memo exists for an invoice because the "invoice total" never changes. So when a customer pays on their account for a particular invoice, they only pay what is due which is the "invoice total" minus any "credit" from the "Credit Memo". So when my A/R person receives payment they are showing the invoice paid in full because MAS automatically includes all invoices and credit memo's. My report does not because there is no data in the "Paid Date" field of the record for Credit Memos.
I've been doing alot research in trying to resolve this "exception" to my report. I think I may be on to something, but my knowledge of arrays is extremely limited. My resolution involves populating an array with the "invoice numbers" that are returned from the initial query from the supplied date range. Then using the "invoice numbers" from the array have it then populate my details section of the report with all of "invoice records" both the actual invoice record and any "credit memo" records. I can then group the records returned  based upon the "invoice number". then within that grouping I can performing my calculations to show whether or not the invoice has been paid in full. What do you think?  I've been able to populate an array with the invoice numbers based upon my date search range, but I have yet to figure out how to take that information and perform another lookup to pull in the rest of the data I need. Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks.  Bill

  • Report with multiple Detail Area

    Hi All,
Please see the Report pointed to the link below:
    [Report with multiple Detail Area|http://us.share.geocities.com/felix5ac/fairway.jpg]
    Some Explanations:
    ========================
    (1) The line with "ABCDEFGH..." is variable data coming from the database in the Detail Area
    (2) The lines with "WBLNX'" "123, 123.12",
                             "WBLNX'"
are variable data associated with the same Heading: "ABCDEFGH..."
(2b) There can be multiple lines of data in the detail area (i.e. 1 or more "ABCDEFGH..." and the associated WBLNX and numbers...)
    (3) Item Code Descriptions ==> is a Header Info
    (4) ARL ... and FPHI... ==> are variable data and lines in these area can be 1 line; it can be 4 lines; it can be 10 lines...
    (5) Lines FROM "Artwork Procedures..." to the the end of the page are static.
    QUESTION:
    ===================
How do I best design these Report with the multiple detail areas? Again, please see link of the Report above...
    Thanks and Best regards,
    Felix

    Hi Felix
You can place the less detailed fields in the regular sections of the report and wherever you require multiple lines you can use the subreports.
    Hope this helps.

  • Report on related section linked with opportunity Id

    Hi,
I created a report with opportunity Id is prompted as filter. I would like to display my report in a related information section of my opportunity record.
This is the URL of my report : https://secure-ausomxgva.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/ReportIFrameView?SAWDetailViewURL=saw.dll?Go%26Path%3D%252fshared%252fCompany_AGVA-PV272_Shared_Folder%252fSuivi%2bfact%2bpar%2bdemande&AnalyticReportName=Suivi+fact+par+demande
How can I modify my URL to add the opportunity Id as argument?
    Thanks

I have a couple of thoughts that may help. I apologize if you already have tested these, but these are ones I consider when dealing with web links.
    1. You need to validate the URL for the report itself. I have no reason to believe that yours is wrong, but I always double check it. The way I validate it is to run the report from "My Analyses" and then right click to get the properties. The URL for the report is listed there and you can validate your weblink from there.
    2. Be aware that sometimes spaces in the URL eg "Opportunity ID", can interupt the passing of the whole URL to the iframe. In this case just use "%20" as a space substitute, ie "Opportunity%20ID".
    3. The third observation I have is probably not really a concern, but I noticed you mismatched Row ID with the Integration Id tag. I would use %%%Id%%% for Opportunity Id.
I also have a good doc that contains a lot of detail on other options. You can email me and I'll send it to you, if you would like it.
    Good luck,
    Thom

  • Historical Reporting With Multiple Subject Areas

    Hi All,
I am working on to decide the best way to create repository. I do have a requirement from my client that they need to see both Current and Historical Reporting via OBIEE. I am keeping Type 2 SCD. My model consists of about 30 fact tables - each of them represents a business process/event.
    Following are my options:
    1) One Subejct Area to keep current/historical reporting. Here the joins would be based on PK/FK relationships with Effective Start and Effective End dates. There is a flag in all tables to find the most updated record. Users can use the flag to find the most updated record or use Effective Start and Effective End dates to go point in time.
    2) Create two Subject Areas - Current and Historical reporting. Current one will include the flag logic to get the most updated record in RPD
    3) Create multiple Subject Areas for each Fact table and use Combining Multiple Subject Area approach to join Subject Areas. Additionally, create one Subject Area for Historical Reporting (that will have all the tables in one SA)
I am thinking of going ahead with option 3) This will have Subject Areas for all logical facts (for Current reporting) and one Subject Area for Historical reporting.
Is this a standard design? Any inputs?

You should try both Complex folders as well as custom folders and see which gives you better performance. Discoverer SQL optimizations for example apply only on Complex folders and not on simple folders.
If you define the joins between the two tables, you can still use items from them in your Discoverer report without having to create a complex folder on them.
And finally, you can always create a view or materialized view and use that MV in your Discoverer query.
    thanks

  • BI+ Reporting With Multiple Data Sources

    Hi -
We've been using BI+ Reports with multiple data sources on separate grids. We are wondering if there is a better way to ensure the user has their point of view bar in sync between the the data sources. In our case, both Data Sources are separate HFM applications with all the dimensions identical except the account which is defined on the report. We are not using Metadata Management.
I'm aware of the "Merge Equivalent Prompts" in the Preferences > Financial Reporting window, but this does not always ensure the users have the same point of view.
What practice are other companies using to make sure the user runs the reports accurately with both point of view bars pulling the same entity/year/period.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your answer, however my question - I know it looks quite messy - is not directly related to data templates, my problem is that at the moment I am using a stored procedure following - almost exactly - what another procedure does in oracle EBS to call a BI publisher report.
    1. This procedure populates some temporary table with the xml data where the concurrent request picks it up and uses it to populate the BI publisher template.
    2. However I can't go and specify the XML location in my data template as this is not an option for us (i.e. reading the xml from the temporary table), so I am looking for another way to populate the BI publisher template (Note: I can't as well include the SQL queries in my Data template).
    Thanks ;)

One thing that you can try is installing a 'fresh' version of OS X Lion. Boot into your Recovery partition (holding down the command and R keys whilst booting) and elect to install OS X from the Recovery screen. You need not erase your hard drive and you should not lose any of your data.
Oh, and just as a precaution, I would use Disk Utility, once you're in Recovery mode, to verify your hard drive before trying to install the OS again.

  • BO xi 3.1 u2013 schedule a template for multiple reports with different column

    Hi,
I need to migrate the existing reports from SQL Server Reporting Services to BO, and the column order in the report is very important to the clients since clients have existing code to ingest these reports into their database. Now I want to schedule a single template with different parameters for all reports in BO, or create a single template with lot of parameters for all reports. My question is how I might use one template to create multiple reports with different column orders in the reports?
For example, client A has the following column order in their report: firstName, LastName, DateBirth, SSN. Client B has the following column order in their report: SSN, DateBirth, LastName, FirstName. Can I use one template to create these multiple reports?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The only approach I can think of is to create a template report which uses variables
For each column you would need to variable
    v_columnAName and v_columnAValue
v_columnAName would have a if statement in it
    =if([client]="clientA" or [client]="clientC";NameOf([firstName]);if([client]="clientB";NameOf([SSN]);NameOf([lastName]));
v_columnA would have a if statement in it
    =if([client]="clientA" or [client]="clientC";[firstName];if([client]="clientB";[SSN],[lastName]));
This would only work when you had a small set of clients.
This might be more managable if it was done in the universe
