Multiple key lookups to the same dimension

I have a fact table that has columns old_item and new_item. These are both foreign keys to the items dimension.
The source has old and new item codes. Therefore I want to do two key lookups to the item dimension.
Using the key lookup function the generated code combines the two lookups into one thus giving the wrong result. That is the lookup become like shown below,
INSERT INTO "FT1"
"L1_ID",
"L1_ID1"
SELECT "DT1"."L1_ID" "L1_ID",
"DT1"."L1_ID" "L1_ID$0"
FROM "ST1" "ST1",
"DT1" "DT1"
WHERE ("DT1"."L1_ID" (+) = "ST1"."C1")
AND ("DT1"."L1_ID" (+) = "ST1"."C2")
Does anyone know how to get WB to produce the correct code?
I can create my own transforms to do this but can it be done using the key lookup function?
Thanks

Jean-Pierre,
I think Jeffrey didas you adviced. The problem is that even when you are using two different key lookup objects referencing the same table, the table is used only once in the select-statement, but with both conditions, instead of selecting the table twice, each with its own alias and conditions.
Matbe that you can tell us which version does generate the correct code. I have have tested it again with OWB 9.0.3.35.1 (the latest version I believe), and still ran into this and many other problems.
If you don't want to use a transformation, my advice would be not to use the key lookup object at all, but stick to the joiner object to join the lookup tables with the source table(s). The "drawback" is that you have to write the extra conditions yourself.

  • How do you register multiple key presses at the same time?

Hi. I'm trying to write a first person game in OpenGL and I'm having some trouble with key listening. Right now I just use the basic AWT KeyListener. The problem that arises is that whenever I hold down a key, such as a movement key, there is a short pause after it moves me in the appropriate direction, and only after the pause does it start continuously moving me. In addition to that, I can't press multiple keys at once to get diagonal movement (I use WASD for movement). Is there something I can do with AWT to fix both of these problems, or is there something other than AWT that I should use that would be better?

the pause is the typomatic rate of the keyboard, you can avoid that by using the keyPressed and setting a flag then a sleep(myDelayTime).... if they keyRelease--and clearing of the flag--hasn't happened after the sleep, then you're key is still down so keep firing, moving, or what ever.

  • LookUp to the same table with multiple conditions

    Hi,
I nead to do a lookup to the same table in the flow but with diffrent quieres, each query contains it's own 'where'.
Can I do it somehow in one look up or do I have to use a few ?
select a from table where a=1
select b from table where c=3
    Thanks

    Hi,
Using multiple lookups will be a cleaner approach. If you are using multiple lookups on the same table consider using Cache transform. Refer the below link for details on Cache transform
Lookup and Cache Transforms in SQL Server Integration Services
Alternatively if you want to go ahead with single look up , you may have to modify the SQL statement in the Lookup accordingly to return the proper value. In you case it may be
select a,b from table where a=1 or c=3
Note : Consider the above as a pseudo code. This needs to be tested and applied based on your requirement.

  • How to prevent multiple users from updating the same data in coherence

    Hi,
I have a Java Web Application and for data cache am using coherence 3.5. The same data maybe shared by multiple users which maybe in hundreds. Now how do I prevent multiple users from updating the same data in coherence i.e. is there something in coherence that will only allow one user a time to update. If one user is in a process of updating a data in coherence and some other user also tries to update then the second user should get an error.
    Thanks

I have a question on the same line. How can I restrict someone from updating a cache value when I a process is already working on it. I tried locking the cache key but it does not stop other process to update it , it only does not allow other process to get lock on it.

    Hi
Hint is : A row with the same key already exists it means , It is assigning the same value/Key to row and you are calling it at WDDOINIT  so it giving error at the time of initialization .
Better way to do the coding at some event in view OR if not possible than just execute the first value help in wddoinit later clear all the value before gettig the other Value help. Code it at WdDoModify View to get its run time behaviour.

  • RE: multiple named objects with the same name andinterface

    David,
First I will start by saying that this can be done by using named anchored
objects and registering them yourself in the name service. There is
documentation on how to do this. And by default you will get most of the
behavior you desire. When you do a lookup in the name service (BindObject
method) it will first look in the local partition and see if there is a
local copy and give you that copy. By anchoring the object and manually
registering it in the name service you are programmatically creating your
own SO without defining it as such in the development environment. BTW in
response to your item number 1. This should be the case there as well. If
your "mobile" object is in the same partition where the service object he is
calling resides, you should get a handle to the local instance of the
    service object.
Here is the catch, if you make a bind object call and there is no local copy
you will get a handle to a remote copy but you can not be sure which one!
It end ups as more or less a random selection. Off the top of my head and
without going to the doc, I am pretty sure that when you register an
anchored object you can not limit it's visibility to "User".

Subject: multiple named objects with the same name and interface
    All,
More than once, I have wished that Forte allowed you to place named
objects with the same name in more than one partition. There are two
situations in which this seems desirable:
    1) Objects that are not distributed, but are mobile (passed by value to
remote objects), cannot safely reference a Service Object unless it has
environment visibility, but this forces the overhead of a remote method
call when it might not otherwise be necessary. If it were possible to
place a copy of the same Service Object (with user visibility) in each
partition, the overhead of a remote method call could be avoided. This
would only be useful for a service object whose state could be safely
    replicated.
    2) My second scenario also involves mobile objects referencing a Service
Object, but this time I would like the behavior of the called Service
Object to differ with the partition from which it is called.
This could be accomplished by placing Service Objects with the same name
and the same interface in each partition, but varying the implementation
    with the partition.
Does anyone have any thoughts about why this would be a good thing or a
    bad thing?

  • Why is the Star Transformation using two indexes for the same dimension?

    Hi,
Recently, I have made an investigation about the Star Transformation feature. I have found a strange test case, which plays an important role in my strategy for our overall DWH architecture. Here it is:
    The Strategy:
I would like to have the classical Star Transformation approach (single column Bitmap Indexes for each dimension foreign key column in the fact table), together with additional Bitmap Join Indexes for some of the dimension attributes, which would benefit from the materialization of the join (bitmap merge operation will be skipped/optimized).
    The query:
    select dp.brand, ds. region_name, dc.region_name
         , count(*), sum(f.extended_price)
      from fact_line_item  f
         , dim_part       dp
         , dim_supplier   ds
         , dim_customer   dc
    where dp.mfgr        = 10                 -- dimension selectivity = 1/10 --> acttual/fact selectivity = 6/10
       and f.part_dk      = dp.dk
       and ds.region_name = 'REGION #1' -- dimension selectivity = 1/9
       and f.supplier_dk  = ds.dk
       and dc.region_name = 'REGION #1' -- dimension selectivity = 1/11
       and f.customer_dk  = dc.dk
    group by dp.brand, ds. region_name, dc.region_name
    The actual plan:
    | Id  | Operation                              | Name                        | Starts | E-Rows | Cost (%CPU)| A-Rows |   A-Time   | Buffers | Reads  |

Why is the Star Transformation using both indexes FACT_LI__P_PART_DIM_KEY_BIX and FACT_LI__P_PART_MFGR_BJX for the same dimension criteria (dp.mfgr = 10)?? The introduction of the additional Bitmap Join Index actually make Oracle to do the work twice !!!
    Anybody, any idea ?!?

Dom, here it is the plan with the predicates:

  • Querying last element in a dimension based on another level in the same dimension using MDX

Summary: I need to write an MDX that returns the last date available in the level in the date dimension based for each month in the same dimension.
Details: i have the a dimension which has the following levels.
Dim_Date :  Date (key) , Month (name of month), Quarter, Year.
The query i m trying to come up with would return the result something like
    Month  || Max_date || measure1
    Jan         2014-01-25    100
    Feb        2014-02-28     200
Please let me know if the above makes sense. Basically i m trying to get the max date for each month.
    Thanks
    Sri

    Hi SrikanthGS,
Assuming that with the last date available for the measure you mean the last date with non-empty figures, consider the following against the AW:
SELECT [Measures].[Internet Sales Amount] ON 0,
    Generate (
    [Date].[Calendar].[Month].Members,
    ( Exists ( [Date].[Month of Year].[Month of Year], [Date].[Calendar].CurrentMember ),
    Tail (
    NonEmpty (
    Descendants ( [Date].[Calendar].CurrentMember, [Date].[Calendar].[Date] ),
    [Measures].[Internet Sales Amount]
    1
    ) ON 1
    FROM [Adventure Works]
    WHERE [Product].[Product Categories].[Subcategory].&[1]

  • Multiple connection pools in the same DB physical source

Hi, I have this situation in BI Admin:
A single DB with 2 physical schema and 2 Connection Pools with OCI 10/11g.
Clicking on any table I can see the data after selecting the right connection pool for that table.
I created a Business Model based upon tables from one of the 2 physical schemas and a corresponding presentation layer. It is consistent and I can view the related subject area in Answers, but when I select a Dimension column (CONVERGENZA_NEGOZIO.STATO) and the fact measure ( Convergenza_Fact.INCASSO ) in viewing results I get this error:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error Details
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 942, message: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist at OCI call OCIStmtExecute. [nQSError: 17010] SQL statement preparation failed. (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT CONVERGENZA_NEGOZIO.STATO saw_0, Convergenza_Fact.INCASSO saw_1 FROM Convergenza ORDER BY saw_0
Is it caused by the multiple connection pools under the same DB?

Yes I think that's correct, but only if you're going to use the same user to connect to them.
If you have a single user you're using to connect to a database to read data which happens to be over more than one schema, you'd use one connection pool.
However if you have entirely separate schemas (eg. different applications) and need to use a different user for each then you would use one connection pool per schema. Also if you thought you might move one of the schemas to another physical database at some point in the future it might be prudent to use a separate connection pool from the outset.
If you're still getting the error that the table cannot be found and your users have full permissions then logically the table that's being looked for does not exist, or you have not qualified it. What I mean by that is if you are connecting as USER2 and SELECT * FROM TABLE_A then the database will assume that you mean USER2.TABLE_A. If you mean USER1.TABLE_A then you need to make sure the qualification is in there.
In the admin tool check your Physical layer is set up correctly with your Physical Tables residing in the correct Physical Schemas.

  • Load scd 1 and scd 2 in the same dimension

    Hi
is there any order for load of customer dimension, when you have in the same dimension fields scd1 and scd2. which one it is better load first, scd type 2 and then, scd type 1 for each customer with state = 1?
    thanks

    hi Mark,
but I have one field that I want maintain the historic and then, more some fields that I want to update, always that it's possible. both case, in the same (customer) dimension.
(the state it is for scd type 2, if state=0 inactive , if state=1 active)
    thanks,
    David
Actually that will part of same task itself in SSIS
If you're using standard SCD task in SSIS, it will take care of all these aspects by itself. You just need to identify the attributes as Type and Type2
If you're planning to use another method like say lookup, you need to add the logic in data flow to handle the type2 cases also in the required branch
See this as an example where I've used lookup based on hash values for applying SCD type 1 and type 2 logic

  • [nQSError: 14065] Illegal cross join within the same dimension

    Hey guys,
I'm stumped. I have two dimension tables that are joined 1:N (there is NOT an M:N relationship between them) and I have them joined in the Physical Layer and the Business Model and Mapping Layer. The two tables are F4101 (the "1") and F4102 (the "N") in the 1:N relationship. F4102 then joins to a fact table, and F4101 joins to NOTHING else. So I don't believe I have a circular condition or a need for a bridge table. Both tables are published to the Presentation Layer for reporting.
The error occurs in Answers when I want to do something as trivial as display the three primary key columns together from F4101: F4101.col1, F4101.col2, F4101.col3 (all three make up the PK). When I do that, the following error occurs:
"nQSError: 14065] Illegal cross join within the same dimension caused by incorrect subject area setup: [ F4101 T28761] with [ F4102 T1805] "
What I can't figure out is WHY the F4102 table is listed in this error. I didn't try to report on it at all. See the logical SQL below from my query:
"SQL Issued: SELECT "Item Master (F4101)".IMITM saw_0, "Item Master (F4101)".IMLITM saw_1, "Item Master (F4101)".IMAITM saw_2 FROM "Sales Analysis" ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2"
As soon as I take out one of the three PK columns and add in another non-PK column from F4101, it works just fine. And reporting on each of the three PK columns individually works as well in Answers.
Any ideas? I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks.

    Try this;
    1. In the logical layer, create one folder called F4101_F4102.
    2. Map both F4101 and F4102 as logical table sources in that folder.
    3. Join from the folder F4101_F4102 to the fact using a Logical (new complex join) join.
    Chris.

  • Multiple, synced windows in the same video.

I want to do something similar to the screen grab below with my music students.  Is it possible in iMovie to have multiple windows playing at the same time in the same movie?  I would need to sync them up with an audio recording we are going to do.
If it would help to see it in action, check out Peter Hollens' video.
Is iMovie capapble of this?  Or do I need to get Final Cut Pro X?

Next to impossible in iMovie but very easy using QuickTime Player Pro.
The QuickTime .mov container can have up to 99 "tracks and each can have its own dimensions and position and layer.

  • Multiple running queries at the same time

    Hi!
I looked around (and RTM) for this but didn't find anything, so I'm asking here.
I have quite a few long running queries (data loading and such things, warehousing stuff), and I need to be able to run multiple queries/statements at the same time. In TOAD I can do this, start a procedure and while it is running I can do SQL statements in another session tab (it supports threaded sessions - it starts queries in their own background thread/session).
When I start a long running procedure or query in SQL Developer I can not do anything until the procedure execution finishes. Is there any way (setting/preference) to enable SQL Developer to be able to run multiple queries at the same time?
I really would like to move away from TOAD, but this is a major showstopper for me.
    Thanx for any tips.
    Alex

    Hi!
This post is going to be a little longer, but I have to clarify things out.
I did not mean to throw any wild accusations, because I did my fair share of RTFM and searching the help. I can tell you that if you put any of these in the help search box:
    session
    non shared
    non-shared
    connection
concurrent <- I guess this one should yeld something
    multiple
    spawn
you won't find anything usefull, the article that comes closest, is this:
    "Sharing of Connections
By default, each connection in SQL Developer is shared when possible. For example, if you open a table in the Connections navigator and two SQL Worksheets using the same connection, all three panes use one shared connection to the database. In this example, a commit operation in one SQL Worksheet commits across all three panes. If you want a dedicated session, you must duplicate your connection and give it another name. Sessions are shared by name, not connection information, so this new connection will be kept separate from the original."
It does not mention any spawning of non-shared connections from the current one, nor it does mention using a accelerator key combo. But since there could be written something about it, I guess you could call it a documentation bug, because it does not provide any clue to this functionality. The help is definitely of no help in this case. As you can see, I do not throw accusations without trying to find out something first. I guess if someone is not as deep into SQL Developer as you are, there is no way for him/her to know this.
OK, I tried your suggestion, and (sadly) it does not work as I suppose it should.
    Here's what I did:
    - start a new connection, and enter the following code in SQL Worksheet:
    declare
    j number;
    begin
    for i in 1..1000000
    LOOP
    j := sin(i);
    end LOOP;
    end;
As you can see, it doesn't do much besides holding the connection busy for a while when executed.
    - start a new non-shared connection from the first one using CTRL-SHIFT-N (as you suggested) and put the following statement in the new SQL Worksheet (with "__1" appended to connection name)
    select sysdate from dual;
    - go to the first SQL Worksheet and execute the procedure
    - while the procedure is executing, go to the second SQL Worksheet and hit F9.
The sysdate is returned as soon as the first SQL Worksheet finishes and not any sooner. It may run in separate session, but the result is not returned before the other session is finished doing what it is doing. I guess the correct behaviour would be to return the sysdate immediately.
I verified this behaviour repeating it 3 times starting with a new instance of SQL Developer, each time connecting to another schema and spawning the new non-shared session. The database used was Oracle 10.2.0.3 EE on RHEL 4 UPD3.
The concurrent execution lacks concurrency. The statements might be executed concurently on the database (i did not went the extra mile to verfiy this), but the returning of results is just not independent of other sessions. To the end user this is as much concurrent as it is serial execution.
I hope developers get this issue straightened out soon, as I said, I'd love to move away from Toad, but I'll have to wait until they fix this out.
Is there anything else that can be done to make it behave correctly?
    Kind regards
    Alex

  • Keychain Access: Adding multiple Certificates, signed by the same CA

    Hello, Community.
I have recently posted my request for help in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10448884
Now, I am facing a new problem: I wish to add a new Certificate to the Keychain, but whenever I try, it tells me the item exists, and does not add it to the Keychain. It adds the keys perfectly fine, both public and private, but not the Certificate.
What can I do to have multiple Certificates, signed by the same CA.
I cannot add them to my Keychain, so that will be of no help. And I have tried to create every Certificate anew in the same Keychain, but this will not work, either. I created they Certificates and exported them before I went on to the next and they are now on my desktop. This is very inconvenient, as the keychain is distributed over a network as a shared Keychain and resides in a Snow Leopard Server (Domestic version, not Snow Leopard Server). Our business is one day behind, but since it is now weekend, I hope to get this issue resolved by Monday morning, send out the e-mails we should have and update our register with sales.
Could I please have some advice?
Also, if this topic is handled in full in another thread, please post the links, so I can read up on this topic and try to find a solution.
    Thank you for your time.

  • What happens on iCloud (ex. contacts) when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?

What happens on iCloud when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?  For example if we all choose to use iCloud for contacts, are they all merged together?  We use the same Apple ID so we can use find my iPhone to keep track of the whole family.

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
    1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
    2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
    3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
    4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
    5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
    6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.
