Multiple M91p's in business environment fail to boot

Since the beginning of the year, the small business I help out has had four thinkcentre m91p 7052a7u's fail in the same manner. The machines power up, but there is no boot activity. 2 of the computers have come back to life after cleaning dust build up, running diagnostics via a disc, power cycling many times. The diagnostics have not shown any issues, neither have the event logs, no viruses found. The 3rd computer's OS was trashed, and had to be restored, the hard drive showed no errors.
I started to do "preventive" cleaning of the other computers in the office, just to help exclude ventilation being an issue. Unfortunately, the 4th computer is one that had been cleaned and has now failed. I am going into the office to look at it today.
This business has 15 computers of this model; all out of warranty. Any insights, suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

The ones that won't boot, I would try changing the Power Supply. Looking at the components of my M91p tower, I determined the PSU was the weak link, and changed mine for a Corsair early on to ensure I had the most reliable system -- it's been and continues to be flawless (I do clean it of dust on a regular basis [a dust filter on the front intake would be a worthwhile addition Lenovo], when using compressed air, jam the fan blades so they don't over speed and damage the bearings -- happened to me an a previous psu.)
Use Speedfan or hw mon to monitor system temps, address any that are out of wack.

According to your description, my understanding is that the same shared folder can be accessed by name, but can’t be accessed be IP address and asks for credentials.
Please try to enable the option below on the device which has shared folder:
Besides, check the Advanced Shring settings of shared folder and confrim that if there is any limitation settings.

How to Capture Multiple Cost centres and Business Unit information in a project?

Dear Experts,
With the help of UDA functionality in project super responsibility, I have captured Cost centre and Business unit information and this info will be used/reflected in CC and BU segments of all transactions gets recorded against that project.
Now, our user wish to have multiple cost centres and business units to be tracked in the same one project. How is this feasible? Below example describes my requirement in a summary, please advise.
An Indirect project is created when a defect on a machine reported from client's customer and all subsequent activities (purchases, travel to customer site to analyse and troubleshoot, purchases for any in-house analysis etc..involves costs spending internally) in resolving that defect/project involves 6 to 7 different departments (Sales, Tech Support, Quality team etc.,who actually work/travel and spend costs against project until defect resolution). And, each of the above departments will have 1 dedicated owner (project owners) to manage that project and each of these 6 or 7 owners owners will have their own cost centres (eg: 2345 - Sales team) against which they wish to see their transactions (travel, purchases during defect resolution) globally.
So, all I want to know is how can I make one single project to accommodate multiple cost centresand business unit information to be assigned using UDA? Please let me know if I am not clear.

I think you should use the expenditure organization on the transaction itself to derive the CC/BU. Have AA lookups and define AA rules where you look at a Exp Org to BU or Cost Center to derive accounting.

Video Editing in a Business Environment

We are about to put together a video editing workstation in a business environment.
First, we wanted to go for Mac, but this is an IT no-go.
We are not editing professionals, our purpose is to edit business videos in reasonable speed with easy software.
We have an AVCHD Camera from Canon which can shoot full HD, even though we might stick to a lower resolution.
Software wise we have Premiere Pro CS4 (no upgrade to CS5 in sight) and will most likely replace it with Premiere Elements 9, because feature-wise its enough for what we need it and its easier to use for now.
Hardware wise, our business IT proposes one of the following options:

1. It seems clear to me, that from the above, Nr.3 T5500 should be selected, but maybe its overkill for Premiere Elements and its costly. What would you select?
2. What are the bottlenecks/shortcomings of the system you selected under question 1, beside the harddrive?
3. Whats, in your opinion, is the minimum requirement for a video editing Monitor?
4. If we just look at graphics performance and think about the price, could there be an alternative configuration like: Nr.2 plus a complete different graphics card?
5. Does the change to Premiere Elements have a big impact on graphics performance (same graphics card, different performance between Elements & Pro)?
6. Is there a list with compatible graphics cards that is available for Premiere Elements? (I just know the one for Premiere Pro)

Welcome to the forums! My suggestion is start and do extensive reading this forum. Most of your questions have been discussed and answered. You are fortunate that your IT people have made you look at PC's as currently they outperform similar configured Mac's and cost you much less.
Stay away from single Xeon processor systems. There is no advantage to a single Xeon processor over a single i7-9xx processor
If you want some real quick configuration performance information take a look at our PPBM5 Benchmark data.
If you have to go Dell plan on enhancing it with much lower cost add on's like disk drives and memory
If you want the best bang for the buck with a real system designed specifically for video editing look at ADK
If you really want to edit you need 6 times your 4 GB configurations.
Stay away from the Quadro cards they currently do not improve the performance and they cost a lot.
SAS drives are good performers but are not ideal it is better to spend your money with 2 to 3 times more disk drives than a few expensive drives.

Multiple row update; CEV business rule parameters are not refreshed

During a multiple row update, a business rule is fired for each row.
This change event business rule must update the value of another column in the same table (and same row).
Unfortunately, the parameters of the BR are keeping the values of the first row that has been checked. Since my parameter p_id always keeps the same value, I always update the same row.
Does somebody have a hint on how to solve this problem ?
I'm using Headstart R6i and Forms6i with Oracle9i DB.

I think that's how it works. I tried that with a variable where type is Members.
It is not showing me a prompt when i select multiple rows. However works only for first row. (even if the menu is initiated from second row).
Multiple rows selected, variable type is members. works only for first row in selection. (in 11.1.2.2) You can try log an SR and see what Oracle has to say.

ITunes install a Business Environment - Is there a Business install?

OK, so I am in a Business Environment (GOV) and at present, we do not install "iTunes" on our Network systems... we mandate what is installed...
We would like to control what our users installed on our systems, so it is now on my plate that we need to install iTunes. (We are now testing iPhones) So with the introduction of the iPhone to our Network, i will need to install iTunes. There is no custom install and the default install install things we may not need, i.e.Bonjour Service...
Is there a way to custom the install of iTunes?
What are all the services that the default install of iTunes installs?
Is there a custom iTunes install for a Corp Environment?

Well, I don't have access to SolMan (I'm only an ABAP developer), so I'll ask the admin to check that.
Maybe the side-effect report doesn't exist yet because the information is not stored in the SAP notes database: for usual ABAP notes (support packages), the corrective notes are filled inside the "Correction instructions" section, which do not exist for kernel corrections (of course, because it's not ABAP). The only thing that is documented at kernel Notes is the "Related notes" section (for instance, see 1103916), I don't think it means these are corrective notes, so an exhaustive manual control (by reading) seems mandatory.
I close the thread now, but feel free to add any comments (and if I have new I will update it).

NNot with the regular MY Photo Stream. You could use individual Shared Photo Streams instead for each iPhone, if the iOS versions support shared streams. upload to a shared stream is not automatic however. You will have to share them manually.

Can't start messaging server - get "Load Environment Failed" in the administration server

The messaging server can't restart, and when I use the
admininstration server to verify setting I get the following message:

The file /etc/netscape.mail.conf is probably corrupted or missing.
Try to regenerate it out of a backup.

We also use a boot.properties in ${domain.home}, which may only be for Admin server, but worth checking anyway. Also, I often receive the boot.properties message you're seeing when there's other problems upstream, and I've found the message to be quite misleading at times. For example, if I have a problem with an LDAPAuthenticator or any other security mechanism I'll often see the boot.properties message eventhough the problem has nothing to do with that file.

I just bought a Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 Scanner. It comes with an Acrobat Standard XI and a product key. My understanding is that many Adobe product licence keys (e.g. educational version, home use version) are not allowed to use in business environments. My bundled Acrobat Standard XI does not state that it is limited for educational or home use on the CD. Am I licensed to install it in my office computer for business use? Is there anyway for me to review the licensing conditions of my product key?

Adobe software purchased appropriately can be used in any environment the licensed user has. There is no restriction (at least in the USA) on educational customers using the educational license for professional use. I am unaware of any home use versions of Adobe software. There are versions of Adobe software that are directed toward non-professionals (for example Premiere or Photoshop Elements), but there are no restrictions to using in a business as long as it is used by the person it was purchased for (one license-one user). Years ago other countries had different license agreements, but in today’s environment, I do not believe that is the case for current versions of Adobe software. So, yes you can use it in your business. In fact, Fujitsu Scanners like the ScanSnap are geared towards the business user. I am a very happy user of their 1500M scanner (which while designed for a Mac, came with Acrobat Standard software :-)

Spiceworks Implemented and Used in a Business Environment

Are there any spiceheads near Jasper, IN that has Spiceworks set up and using in a business environment that would be willing to demonstrate capabilities and their setup?
I have a setup at home but I do not have many devices to manage or a multitude of applications. Additionally, I do not have much time to do anything with my setup.
I am not sure the extent of Spiceworks. There seems like there would be many nice features that could be very beneficial in a business environment. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get Spiceworks implemented into my current working environment.
I would love to get it implemented there but have not found the key reason why we would need it or how it will make us more productive or efficient.

And that is exactly meant to mean what? You need to be a lot more specific. You know, I could play dumb and pretend I didn't even know what "Citrix" is (A toilet cleaner based on Citric acid perhaps?). You have to provide exact version numbers, system specs, configurations and what you plan to do. There are specific technical limitations on running CS products in virtual environments and it may even be a breach of the licensing terms depending on what licesne you actually have. A lot more to it than just your generic question.

The only thing you can do is go in to theMonitor screen of that IP and select the datatargets from the Monitor screen.In the next screen you can see all the targets included in the IP at the top.But the only bad thing is you have to manually delete the Bad request only from each target.

[SOLVED] "Filesystem check failed" during boot process

I was using XFCE on my netbook recently and clicked "shutdown". It logged out to the command prompt and nothing happened. Assuming that I'd clicked "logout" by mistake, I typed "pacman -Syu" to run an update... And moments later it suddenly started the shutdown process.
Now, whenever I boot up, I see the message below. I tried booting from a GParted CD to check the filesystems for errors, but none were detected.
Can anyone suggest what I might need to do to fix the problem?

DON'T mount any of the filesystems before running fsck, or your data will probably be lost. If you want to check the partition information first, run fdisk -l with root privileges.
Thanks. I tried booting from an ArchBang live CD last night and ran "e2fsck -pcv" on each partition. The check completed, but the problem persists... I just tried again using "fsck" as you suggested and got the following output (but the machine still fails to boot with the same error as before):

As mentioned already, the reason it's failing is because the /dev/sdb2 partition is mounted before it can be fsck'd. What is this partition exactly (which filesystem, what's on it, mountpoint,...)?
I'm not overly familiar with the Linux boot process, but why would it suddenly be mounting this partition before fsck-ing it? Even if it was mounted when the netbook shutdown, surely the boot process starts with all partitions unmounted...? Anyway, the partition details from /etc/fstab are below.

I'm (now) aware that mounting /usr as a separate partition is a bad idea and (having read the "Error when booting with the new initscripts" thread), I have told pacman to ignore updates to the initscripts package (until I figure out how best to work round or fix that issue).

Compaq Notebook CQ-45 137TX fails to boot

Hello,
I own a Compaq CQ-45 137TX (Intel Core 2 Duo P7350, 3 GB RAM, 320GB HDD, nVidia GeForce 9200M GS, Windows 7(upgraded from Vista)) with a broken LCD Screen. Since repairing the screen made no sense for such an old laptop, I started using it as a desktop by attaching an external monitor and input devices. The computer worked fine for the past few months.
Upon restarting the computer after a hiatus of a week or so, the computer failed to boot and display anything on the external monitor. I think it is failing POST.
The laptop gives out multiple beeps continually (not continuous, multiple beeps that don't end).
I thought that the RAM is faulty and tried to reboot the machine by trying one RAM stick at a time (since the laptop has two). It didn't work for either of the two sticks tried in both slots individually.
I think both the RAM sticks may be faulty, however, I am unable to borrow a RAM stick to test on it.
Before buying a new one, I would like someone to clarify or point out other hardware that may faulty in this laptop. I have had people tell me that my Graphic Card may have given up.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to boot up your CQ-45 notebook.
It's unlikely to be RAM if neither card worked in either of the two DIMM slots. It is possible that both cards or slots have failed, but highly unlikely.
The beeping should tell you exactly what the error is. Try looking through this document which should help you identify the error: Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps.
You may also want to try this document as well: Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot.
Let me know if you're able to identify the failure with the beep code and we'll go from there.
