Multiple Main Classes

Hello all,
I have created a program that has reached testing phase.
My method of deployment of the application is jar files.
If you have multiple main classes in the application,
how can you access all of them?
EX. 1)settings file
2)Save file
These are just random access points.
Im using the current NetBeans.
When I create a jar through this it only allows me to specify one main class at a time
Thanks alot!

One way might be to have the first main() be a floating toolbar that launches the other applications. This might work well for an 'office' style suite with buttons on the toolbar for spreadsheet, word processor, database etc.
Perhaps a better (and more common) way to go would be to put each main() in its own jar, add all the common classes to an 'our-api.jar', then add that jar to the Class-Path attribute in the manifest of each of the main() jars.
Java webstart is also a way to select particular main()s out of one jar, but even then, it sound as if the single jar should be divided into a number of jars.

  • Running JAR files (Could not find the main class error)

    Hi all,
    I'm having a bit of a problem with my app. I created an application with the current Netbeans edition, containing multiple .class files, and a few .jar libraries that are needed too.
    Now I'm having problems with running the .jar that the Netbeans creates, so I figured I'd make a one on my own.
    Okay, this is what I have going on:
    C:\MyApp\ <--- root for the application
    C:\MyApp\src\ <--- this is where the .class files are
    C:\MyApp\lib\ <--- here are the .jar libraries which are needed
    C:\MyApp\jar.exe
    C:\MyApp\Manifest.txt
    Now I have a couple questions.
    1. Is it ok that the .class files all have a "package MyPackage; " thing in the beginning?
    2. How should I proceed on making the Manifest.txt file correctly? I have tried various different outputs and read a few topics here from how it should be done, but I just can't nail it. Currently my Manifest looks like:
    Main-Class: MyPackage/Myapp
    Class-Path: lib/xxx.jar lib/xxx2.jar lib/xxx3.jar
    Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

    Oh, almost forgot:
    3. The right way to create a jar? I used this:
    C:\MyApp\jar cmf Manifest.txt MyJar.jar src\*.class
    And system is Windows XP.

  • Java Virtual Machine Launcher could not find the main class - program will

    I have installed J2SE and followed all the instructions but upon restarting the PC I get a dialogue box with the messege Java Virtual Machine Launcher could not find the main class - program will exit.
    I have tried multiple times un-installing and re-intalling this but i still get the messege when i restart windows.
    Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what i may be doing wrong.
    When I do the verify installation I get the congtratulations you have the latest Java Installed.
    Help

    Something is being automatically started when the pc starts. Assuming Windows, to see what it is, learn to use the msconfig program:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+use+msconfig
    Apparently, whatever it is, it's not correctly configured.

  • The dreaded "could not find the Main Class, Program will exit", how?

    Hello all,
    I am trying to run my .jar file and I get this error message.
    I want to mention I googled and searched for it, without success: There is so many different explanations!
    I tried this:
    Adding some lines in a manifest.fm file...
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.7.0
    Created-By: 10.0-b19 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    X-COMMENT: Main-Class will be added automatically by build
    I have Netbeans 5.5.
    Also I noticed my "build.xml" file is empty" and my "manifest.fm" nearly empty. I have also added "project, main class" in the options...
    Here is my "build":
    {code}<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!-- You may freely edit this file. See commented blocks below for -->
    <!-- some examples of how to customize the build. -->
    <!-- (If you delete it and reopen the project it will be recreated.) -->
    <project name="BetaCourseworkJava3d_Final" default="default" basedir=".">
    <description>Builds, tests, and runs the project BetaCourseworkJava3d_Final.</description>
    <import file="nbproject/build-impl.xml"/>
    <!--
    There exist several targets which are by default empty and which can be
    used for execution of your tasks. These targets are usually executed
    before and after some main targets. They are:
    -pre-init: called before initialization of project properties
    -post-init: called after initialization of project properties
    -pre-compile: called before javac compilation
    -post-compile: called after javac compilation
    -pre-compile-single: called before javac compilation of single file
    -post-compile-single: called after javac compilation of single file
    -pre-compile-test: called before javac compilation of JUnit tests
    -post-compile-test: called after javac compilation of JUnit tests
    -pre-compile-test-single: called before javac compilation of single JUnit test
    -post-compile-test-single: called after javac compilation of single JUunit test
    -pre-jar: called before JAR building
    -post-jar: called after JAR building
    -post-clean: called after cleaning build products
    (Targets beginning with '-' are not intended to be called on their own.)
    Example of inserting an obfuscator after compilation could look like this:
    <target name="-post-compile">
    <obfuscate>
    <fileset dir="${build.classes.dir}"/>
    </obfuscate>
    </target>
    For list of available properties check the imported
    nbproject/build-impl.xml file.
    Another way to customize the build is by overriding existing main targets.
    The targets of interest are:
    -init-macrodef-javac: defines macro for javac compilation
    -init-macrodef-junit: defines macro for junit execution
    -init-macrodef-debug: defines macro for class debugging
    -init-macrodef-java: defines macro for class execution
    -do-jar-with-manifest: JAR building (if you are using a manifest)
    -do-jar-without-manifest: JAR building (if you are not using a manifest)
    run: execution of project
    -javadoc-build: Javadoc generation
    test-report: JUnit report generation
    An example of overriding the target for project execution could look like this:
    <target name="run" depends="BetaCourseworkJava3d_TestsBACKUPSUNDAY05April-impl.jar">
    <exec dir="bin" executable="launcher.exe">
    <arg file="${dist.jar}"/>
    </exec>
    </target>
    Notice that the overridden target depends on the jar target and not only on
    the compile target as the regular run target does. Again, for a list of available
    properties which you can use, check the target you are overriding in the
    nbproject/build-impl.xml file.

    Your comment "a zip" made me attempt to open it with winrar, and I found a manifest.fm file inside!
    So far I was editing the one at the "source" of my project and rebuilding it with netbeans.
    I am going to try that now.

  • How can I assign image file name from Main() class

    I am trying to create library class which will be accessed and used by different applications (with different image files to be assigned). So, what image file to call should be determined by and in the Main class.
    Here is the Main class
    import org.me.lib.MyJNIWindowClass;
    public class Main {
    public Main() {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    MyJNIWindowClass mw = new MyJNIWindowClass();
    mw.s = "clock.gif";
    And here is the library class
    package org.me.lib;
    public class MyJNIWindowClass {
    public String s;
    ImageIcon image = new ImageIcon("C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Desktop/" + s);
    public MyJNIWindowClass() {
    JLabel jl = new JLabel(image);
    JFrame jf = new JFrame();
    jf.add(jl);
    jf.setVisible(true);
    jf.pack();
    I do understand that when I am making reference from main() method to MyJNIWindowClass() s first initialized to null and that is why clock could not be seen but how can I assign image file name from Main() class for library class without creating reference to Main() from MyJNIWindowClass()? As I said, I want this library class being accessed from different applications (means different Main() classes).
    Thank you.

    Your problem is one of timing. Consider this simple example.
    public class Example {
        public String s;
        private String message = "Hello, " + s;
        public String toString() {
            return message;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Example ex = new Example();
            ex.s = "world";
            System.out.println(ex.toString());
    }When this code is executed, the following happens in order:
    1. new Example() is executed, causing an object to constructed. In particular:
    2. field s is given value null (since no value is explicitly assigned.
    3. field message is given value "Hello, null"
    4. Back in method main, field s is now given value "world", but that
    doesn't change message.
    5. Finally, "Hello, null" is output.
    The following fixes the above example:
    public class Example {
        private String message;
        public Example(String name) {
            message = "Hello, " + name;
        public String toString() {
            return message;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Example ex = new Example("world");
            System.out.println(ex.toString());
    }

  • Can We Use Multiple Edgehero Classes On The Same Element?

    Does anyone know if it is possible to add multiple Edgehero classes to the same element? More specifically, I would like to use RotateX and RotateY on a rectangle, but it only seems to do one or the other, adding both classes to the element doesn't make it rotate in both directions.

    Maybe check out the Star Wars demo to see if that would help.
    Rob got the idea from the one I made earlier and here is the code:
    sym.$('gradient').css('background', '-moz-linear-gradient(top, rgba(0,0,0,1) 0%, transparent 100%)');
    sym.$('container').css('-moz-transform-origin', '50% 100%');
    sym.$('container').css('-moz-transform', 'perspective(250px) rotateX(25deg)');
    // Chrome and others
    sym.$('gradient').css('background', '-webkit-linear-gradient(top, rgba(0,0,0,1) 0%, transparent 100%)');
    sym.$('container').css('-webkit-transform-origin', '50% 100%');
    sym.$('container').css('-webkit-transform', 'perspective(250px) rotateX(25deg)');
    // Internet Explorer
    sym.$('gradient').css('background', '-ms-linear-gradient(top, rgba(0,0,0,1) 0%, transparent 100%)');
    sym.$('container').css('-ms-transform-origin', '50% 100%');
    sym.$('container').css('-ms-transform', 'perspective(250px) rotateX(25deg)');

  • How to run 1 or more main classes in a jar?

    Hi there,
    I have 2 or more main classes in a java project. How do I create more than one application entry point in my MANIFEST.INF? I create my jar file from my java project using Eclipse, and it asked me to "Select the class of the application entry point". I was only able to select one main class.
    I noticed the MANIFEST.INF file that eclipse generated looks like:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: Automobile
    When I tried to run my other classes not specify in the MANIFEST.INF it failed and only look for the Automobile class:
    java -jar /tmp/Auto.jar TestMe

    Your app. can have as many entry points as you like, as atmguy demonstrated. But you can only specify one in the manifest,which - if you think about it - makes perfect sense. How is the machine to determine - from you clicking on the jar - which entry point you meant to invoke?

  • Multiple Main Table Question

    I am new to MDM 7.1 & Multiple Main Tables. I have a very basic questionu2019
    My Requirement is that I have to keep Two Main Tables,
    1.      Manufacturer Parts Master Table and the key is Manufacturer Name + Manufacturer Part No (Two fields)
    2.      I  have another Main Table  called Manufacturer Parts Table and key will be Manufacturer Name + Manufacturer Part No (Two fields)
    My requirement is  that when I load data in to the 2nd Main table (Manufacturer parts Table) I have to validate against the Master table (Manufacturer Parts  Master Table) with the key combination of Manufacturer Name + Manufacturer Part No  and that this key combination must exists in the 1st table.( Manufacturer Parts Master Table.). If  not then it is an error.
    I know we can use the 1st table as lookup main table for the 2nd table but do we need to combine the key fields Manufacturer Name + Manufacturer Part No for both the tables to validate against the Manufacturer Parts Master table with the same key combination?.
    Anyone explains how I can do this?
    Also, Qualified tables still exits in MDM 7.1? OR we have to use  Tuples?

    Hi,
    1. Manufacturer Parts Master Table and the key is Manufacturer Name + Manufacturer Part No (Two fields)
    In Console: Say your 1st main table has Manufacturer Name + Manufacturer Part. No two fields which are Display fields. For this 1st Main table you should have your Edit Key mapping = Yes.
    In Import Manager: Your Remote Key in your MDM import Manager should be mapped with combination of these two fields using Partition Concept with some delimiter say ,
    e.g. for 1 record in your 1st main table when you right click on your Edit key mapping using MDM data Manager it has values as:
    RemoteSystem Key
    ABC MANF1,123
    So here Key is combination of Manufacturer Name + Manufacturer Part No (MANF1,123) which has delimiter ,
    2. I have another Main Table called Manufacturer Parts Table.
    In Console: For this 2nd Main table first of all, you will create a Field of type Lookup Main which is lookup to 1st main table say X. You will have some other field too in 2nd main table which is Display field and using it you can import data.
    In Import Manager: For 2nd Main table, your source fields again should be combination of Manufacturer Name + Manufacturer Part No using partition field concept with delimiter say , and map this Partition field here with field X which is lookup to main table. when you will do this you will see all your source values for this partition field gets mapped automatically for the records which are present in 1st main table and if there is any value which is not mapped it means that that manufacturer name + manufacturer Part no does not exist in 1st main table.
    You must set this property in Import Map, if you are importing data through Import server by right clicking on target mapped field X Set MDIS Unmapped Value handling = Fail which will take care if record exists in 1st main table then only record imported in 2nd main table else give error. As if record exists in 1st main table then while importing data through 2nd main table his value automatically gets mapped.
    Also, Qualified tables still exits in MDM 7.1? OR we have to use Tuples?
    For most of standard Master's e.g. Material SAP Note 1355137, Customer SAP Note 1412742: Tuple has been replaced using  Qualified table. But if you want, you can model data as per your requirement. You can still use Qualified table if business demands.

  • How can i execute Spaces API in java main class?

    Hi
    I am able to execute Spaces API through portal application. However if i try to execute it in java main class, its throwing an exception
    "SEVERE: java.io.FileNotFoundException: .\config\jps-config.xml (The system cannot find the path specified)"
    oracle.wsm.common.sdk.WSMException: WSM-00145 : Keystore location or path can not be null or empty; it must be configured through JPS configuration or policy configuration override.
    How can i set this path, so that i can execute Spaces API from java main class.
    Need this main class to configure in cron job, to schedule a task.
    Regards
    Raj

    Hi Daniel
    Currently i have implemented create functionality in my portal application using Spaces API, which is working fine. Now the requirement is, i need to implement a "Cron Job" to schedule a task, which will execute to create space(for example once in a week). Cron job will execute only the main method. So I have created java main class, in which I have used Spaces API to perform create space operation. Then it was giving exception.
    Later I understood the reason, as I am executing the Space API with a simple JSE client, its failing since a simple java program has no idea of default-keystore.jks, jps-config.xml, Security Policy. Hence i have included those details in main class. Now I am getting new error,
    SEVERE: WSM-06303 The method "registerListener" was not called with required permission "oracle.wsm.policyaccess"
    For your reference i have attached the code below, please help. How can i use Spaces API in java main method(i mean public static void main(String[] args) by giving all required information.

  • Using main class's methods from a different class in the same file

    Hi guys. Migrating from C++, hit a few snags. Hope someone can furnish a quick word of advice here.
    1. The filename is test.java, so test is the main class. This code and the topic title speak for themselves:
    class SomeClass
         public void SomeMethod()
              System.out.println(test.SomeOperation());
    public class test
         public static void main(String args[])
              SomeClass someObject = new SomeClass();
              someObject.SomeMethod();
         public static String SomeOperation()
              return "SomeThing";
    }The code works fine. What I want to know is, is there some way to use test.SomeOperation() from SomeClass without the test.?
    2. No sense opening a second topic for this, so second question: Similarly, is there a good way to refer to System.out.println without the System.out.? Like the using keyword in C++.
    Thanks.

    pfiinit wrote:
    The code works fine. What I want to know is, is there some way to use test.SomeOperation() from SomeClass without the test.?Yes you can by using a static import, but I don't recommend it. SomeOperation is a static method of the test class, and it's best to call it that way so you know exactly what your code is doing here.
    2. No sense opening a second topic for this, so second question: Similarly, is there a good way to refer to System.out.println without the System.out.? Like the using keyword in C++.Again, you could use static imports, but again, I don't recommend it. Myself, I use Eclipse and set up its template so that when I type sop it automatically spits out System.out.println(). Most decent IDE's have this capability.
    Also, you may wish to look up Java naming conventions, since if you abide by them, it will make it easier for others to understand your code.
    Much luck and welcome to this forum!

    Get This MLBAutobahnNexDef Whasit off my Activity Monitor
    1. Open your User folder.
    2. Go to Library folder ( might need to press down option key when select Go to find Library)> Application Support > Swarmcast
    3. Click UninstallAutobahn.command
    Wait and pray. Phew! Gone. It'll probably open your Unix terminal.
    [[EDIT: ACK! OSX Lion has hidden the Library folder. It's still there. TO find the User's Library folder in OSX, go to Finder and choose Go > Go to Folder... and type ~/Library in the box. ]]

    Edited by: sivapara on Feb 16, 2011 1:08 PM

    I was able to resolve this issue by performing following.
    1. Go to the location where sqldeveloperW.exe is being executed from.
    2. You will find a file sqldeveloper.conf in that location. Edit this file and change the value of IncludeConfFile to point to actual place. For me following were old and new values.
    OLD (Wrong) : IncludeConfFile ../../jdev/bin/ide.conf
    NEW (Correct) : IncludeConfFile ../../ide/bin/ide.conf
    After making above change in the sqldeveloper.conf file. Save and close it. Restart SQLDeveloper. You will not get the error anymore.
    Thanks

  • Could not find main class. Program will now exit. *SIGH*.....

    At first I thought it was just my own programs that I created with netbeans that had this problem; however, even the demo programs under the sdk folder give me this problem when i try to run them. Virtual Machine Loader will just come up with pop up saying "Could not find the main class. Program will not exit"
    I am a fairly competent programmer, not new to java. But I am new to guis in java, and using netbeans to create them. The program I am creating gives me this error with javaw and with java it will tell me NoClassDef for grouplayout. I checked the manifest file it looks alright:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.7.0
    Created-By: 10.0-b19 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: desktopapplication2.DesktopApplication2
    Class-Path: lib/appframework-1.0.3.jar lib/swing-worker-1.1.jar lib/swing-layout-1.0.1.jar lib/ant-swing.jar lib/SwingSet2.jar lib/swing-layout-1.0.3.jar
    X-COMMENT: Main-Class will be added automatically by build
    }(brackets not included)
    I am sort of lost.... Do I need to install ant separately?
    I feel like there may be some classpath issues?
    I have java 1.6 update 4 and netbeans 6.0
    I am completely lost I have been working on fixing this for the past 2 or 3 days now, and reading up all the information.
    Note: This is just a standard desktop application.
    Also I just thought of something. If I have install the development kit do I also need to install the framework or whatever for 6.0 separately? Meaning installing the latest version of jvm. Sorry if this isn't clear i forgot what it is called.
    Sorry if this sounds like a beginner question or something, but I am going crazy. If i am having this much trouble running my own program i really hope distributing files won't be this much of a nightmare....

    Please become familar with resources at the NetBeans site. There are tutorials and FAQs that cover usage of NB, and how to do things like you're asking.
    See my reply in this thread for more information

  • Execute jar file: "could not find the main class" program will terminate

    Hey,
    I am new to Java. I have started to make a small java program which supposed to help me at my studies to lean the Dominic Memory System. I have used the latest version of Netbeans 5.5.1 to build my program in. I have two problems which I cannot figure out how to solve, please help me.
    The first problem is that the java script I have made works when I compile it in Netbeans, but when I create a Jar file it does not work. I receive a pop up message in windows ?could not find the main class program will terminate? when I execute the jar file.
    The second problem I have is that I need to compare the strings generated by the "numbers" and "TIP" and if the numbers is not identical the numbers in the ?Center? JPanel should be highlighted as red.
    If anyone would like to clean up the code I would be pleased. I have copied quite a lot from anyone because of my one lack of knowledge.
