Multiple shortcuts

It's an organizational issue. For certain activities, the are generally a few apps one want to be able to access quickly and without the distraction of other icons. So, for example, I fly with my iPad. So I've created a home screen - the first page) -that has links to only those 4 apps I want to be able acess quickly in flight. But those apps are also useable for other endeavors, so I would want them there also.
So, for example, I take in-flight notes in Notability, so I want a shortcut to GoodReader on my "In-flight" homescreen. But I also use it to take notes at business meetings, so I'd want a link to it in my Business group. Is placing multiple shortcuts to the same app on different pages and different groups somehting the iPad allows or is that level or organization available only in Android and (I assume) Windows tablets?
Thanks.

I've never seen on iOS devices the ability to create multiple links to the same app.

  • Multiple shortcut toolbars in Adobe Acrobat x std

    I'm looking for a way to have multiple shortcut toolbar lines in Adobe Acrobat X std.  I don't like the drop down tool bar that is present.  I use multiple addins in my toolbar and I want to see them all up in the toolbar for easy use.  Is there a way to add multiple lines of toolbars instead of having the drop down overflow box?

    You'll want to ask in the forum for Acrobat. This one is for the free Reader which cannot do any of this.
    But to get you started, you can use Document>Extract pages to create a new file of the modified pages...

    What does "I can get a shortcut created but as soon as I attempt to place the runas argument in it starts to fail working" mean? Show us your code, and also please copy and paste any error messages. (Remember, we can't see your screen.)

    Here is the code that i currently have (a work in progress)
    $ws = New-Object -com WScript.Shell
    $Dt = $ws.SpecialFolders.Item("Desktop")
    $Scp = Join-Path -Path $Dt -ChildPath "Notepad.lnk"

    Under the Target Path part if i have this then it doesnt work
    $Sc.TargetPath = "C:\Windows\system32\runas.exe /user:MiniLappy\Test C:\windows\System32\Notepad.exe"
    And i get this Error Message

  • Multiple Keyboard Shortcut Assignments?

    Is it possible in Premiere CS6 to create multiple keyboard assignments for one action?   For example, Premiere has the UP ARROW key set to jump to the next cut on the timeline by default.  I like this assignment, but also want the same action to happen when I press the ' key as well.  Is it possible to have two shortcuts perform the same action?
    Thanks.

    Dont know if this is any use to anyone now...
    Download the app "BetterTouchTool" (for mac) and map any key ontop of the shortcut in question to give you multiple shortcuts per action.
    The program also allows you to limit the shortcut to only occur when premiere is open.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to add command line arguments to shortcuts in the LV8.5.1 installer

    I want to create multiple shortcuts to my LV program, each with different command line arguments.
    I can do this manually.
    I want the installer to generate these shortcuts.
    I can add different shortcuts in de installer build specification, but I cannot add commandline arguments in the shortcuts.
    Does anyone know how to do this?
    Rindert

    Hello Forum,
    Does anyone have any better data for this?  I would also like to create an installer using Labview Project Explorer tool (Build Specification->Installer), and I have a need to create some shortcuts to some EXE's (VS.NET built, not LV) which need to have some arguments passed.  I just verified that LV8.6 still does not seem to offer the option of passing arguments when creating shortcuts.  Is this correct?   Creating stub EXE's or batch files isn't a good option for my project, so I'd like to have someone confirm if LV installer tool can't create shortcuts w/ arguments before I fire up InstallShield.

  • CTRL + Shortcut Malfunction

    In dreamweaver (CS4) I cannot hold de CTRL button anymore for multiple shortcuts uses.
    For example: When I press ctrl + Z it works only once (undo action), when I press again at the "Z" button (without releasing the ctrl button or any other shortcut letter) the letter appears and the shortcut function is not working.
    In other adobe products (photoshop, illustrator) or other software (office) it works as it should do...
    I had this once earlier, and just reinstalled CS4 (that worked but is time consuming).
    I wonder if it is a setting or problem which I can overcome.

    It may be a corrupt setting cache that has caused the issue you originally had which is why clearing the cache worked.
    There is no setting that affects ALL Ctrl + shortcuts. If it is only Ctrl + Z (Undo), then there is a setting in DW that prevents you from 'Undoing' more than an allowed number of times.

  • Batch Subscribe to Podcast (add multiple Feed URLs at once)

    Is there any way to Subscribe to many podcasts at once given their feed urls? I currently have an Excel file containing the feed URLs
    The "Subscribe to Podcast..." only allows entering a single URL. I have tried various delimiters (<newline>, ",", ";", etc.) to no avail.
    Is there any other sort of feed import option I am missing?
    Thanks

    A workaround I have resorted to is making .url Internet Shortcut files for each feed URL, selecting multiple shortcuts at once and then dragging them into the iTunes Podcasts list.
    I've created a simple python script to take a text file containing URLs and generate an internet shortcut for each:

    If you know of a better way, please share!

  • How set up multiple homepages to open in a separate window (not a tab) when desired...

    I would like to setup and be able to click on a Firefox profile (I assume profile) or pass parameters to the firefox.exe and have firefox open about 6 separate windows (not tabs) set to different home pages.
    If I use the Pipe Symbol in Options, it will open separate tabs but also ause the probelm below which I also would like to solve.
    A lot of times I also want to run another instance of firefox by clicking on the Firefox icon in my quick launch tray and DO NOT want it to open up all of these sites again.
    How is this best achieved?
    In the past I just opened up each site individually in its own window.
    Thanks very much
    Peter

    You can create multiple shortcuts on the desktop and include the URL to the command line and use the -new-window switch to specify a new window.<br />
    You need to use the -new-window switch for each URL (-new-window URL1 -new-window URL2).<br />
    If the command line gets to long then you need to use a CMD file to store the full command line (start "" firefox.exe -new-window etc.).

  • APP -V shortcut issue

    Hi,
       Could any one explain me the difference between the below 2 tags.  These 2 tags are taken from the deployment config files
    a.      <Extension Category="AppV.Shortcut">
                <Shortcut>
                  <File>[{Programs}]\Hyena\Hyena Help (V).lnk</File>
                  <Target>[{ProgramFilesX64}]\Hyena\hyena.chm</Target>
                  <Icon>[{ProgramFilesX64}]\Hyena\hyena.chm</Icon>
                  <Arguments />
                  <WorkingDirectory />
                  <ShowCommand>1</ShowCommand>
                </Shortcut>
              </Extension>
    b     <Application Id="[{ProgramFilesX64}]\Hyena\hyena.chm" Enabled="true">
            <VisualElements>
              <Name>Hyena Help (V)</Name>
              <Icon />
              <Description />
            </VisualElements>
          </Application>
    Also could any one explain me what differences I can observe if I change
    Hyena Help (V) to Hyena Help in the above 2 tags.

    B - In App-V 5, each application has its own Application tag.  This has nothing to do with shortcuts.  You may have multiple shortcuts, or FTAs, etc, registered to an application.
    A - This is the shortcut information.  Did you by any chance modify this?  I thought there was an ApplicationId tag in the shortcut block, but maybe if you have only 1 application its assumed or something.  Again, I thought it was always there,
    I just checked a few packages and they all have it.
    I would not recommend you change the Application ID, unless you have a very good reason to.  It will not affect the appearance of the shortcut to the user.  If you want to change it you can, you just have to make sure every place where the applicationId
    is needed you change it to match.   We have changed the ApplicationId, but 99% of the time just edit the shortcut information.
    And make sure once you edit the XML, you are importing the new XML into the management console, or using the proper powershell switch!

  • Shortcut to open specific catalog?

    Hi All,
    Apologies, in advance, if this has been asked and answered already.
    I would like to be able to create multiple shortcuts to launch Lightroom on OS X. The difference between each would be the catalog that is opened. For example, I have a default catalog for my RAW files and another catalog for JPGs out of a point-and-shoot. Currently, I have Lightroom prompt me for the catalog when I launch it, but it would be much smoother if I could just have separate shortcuts for each catalog.
    It doesn't appear that Lightroom has any command line interface at all, so is there another way to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    -A

    J McWilliams wrote:
    Another thing that might be useful is you can rename one (or all) of your catalogs, and if you conform the prefix of the Previews folder, you won't be recreating said file. That way, when you hover in the Dock, for example, you'll have a distinctive name.
    I'm not sure what you mean. I am using two catalogs and hav enamed them RAW. . . and JPEG. . . so hovering over the catalog file let's me see which is which should the full file name not be visible. Did you mean something else?
    One annoyance about this shortcut-to-catalog method is that OS X will not let me put an alias/shortcut to a file on the left (applications) side of the dock. That is why a shortcut to the actually application file with, for example, a command line switch to specify a catalog would closer to seamless.

  • Multiple Copy Commands

    Apologies if this has been answered. I've done multiple searches and haven't found what I need.
    As is quite common, I work on a Windows laptop at work and have a MacBook Pro at home. Of course we all know about Windows using the Control key as the modifier for copy/cut/paste whereas the Mac uses Command. This is the only key combination that I frequently use that gives me trouble.
    What I want to do is to be able to use EITHER Control+C/X/V OR Command+C/X/V to cut, copy, and paste. I want to be able to use the Windows combination when I'm not thinking Mac, and the Mac combination when I am. So remapping the Command key to the Control key won't do it. Neither will something that changes just the Copy/Cut/Paste commands.
    Is there something that will intercept specific key combinations and generate alternative combinations? Or something that will allow multiple shortcuts for a single command?
    A related question is whether Control-C/X/V is used for anything in Mac OS or other common Apps. Just so I know if I'm losing anything important.
    Thanks
    Bob

    The problem is that I want both to work. In other words I want two shortcuts for the same command. I did try changing the shortcut in the Keyboard Pref panel, but that completely changes the command.
    I would like to get used to the accepted Mac shortcut usage and often I do. I guess it depends where my fingers are, how long I've been st the Mac versus the PC, how tired I am, and the situation.
    What prompted me to want a solution that allowed both was the other day when I got a message from the browser that I was timed out. This after typing a long response. Without thinking, I used Control-C, the window changed, and I lost my response. That's what I want to avoid.

  • Shortcuts in startscreen

    I have 2 shortcuts in the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. Both shortcuts are visible true Windows Explorer but only 1 is visible in the start screen.
    I looks like the problem is caused by both shortcuts getting the same AppID, when I place 1 shortcut at the time and export the Apps and ID’s true powershell (get-startapps) both shortcuts have the same ID.
     Shortcut1.
    Name: Wise Client
    Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaws.exe" http://........../bng.jnlp
    AppID: "Wise Client","Microsoft.AutoGenerated.{22457521-D00F-487D-B451-77003A2B8DCD}"
    Shortcut2.
    Name: Noodsysteem Wise Client
    Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaws.exe" –offline
    http://........../bng.jnlp
    AppID: "Noodsysteem Wise Client","Microsoft.AutoGenerated.{22457521-D00F-487D-B451-77003A2B8DCD}"
    Does anyone have any ideas how I can make both shortcuts visible in my start screen?
    Can anyone tell me how the AppID are generated?

    It is similar although i do not have this problem with other shortcuts to javaws.exe.
    I have multiple shortcuts to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaws.exe" 1 with Uri A and another with Uri B. Both shortcuts are visible.
    I have figured out how make both shortcuts visible by changing the target in shortcut 2
    Target in:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaws.exe"
    http://........../bng.jnlp
    –offline both shortcuts are visable.
    I would expect that de generated ID uses the entire target in the shortcut for generating an ID.

    I've got a Mac Pro, a G5 and a Powerbook (non-intel) that I use as primary machines. I have an old G4 running 10.4.11. I'd like to use it as an always-on server, but can I reach it from the Mac Pro network? It doesn't show up as a normal networked machine.
    Any way I can do this?

    Great news, thank you!
    Mount that Share once, then once the Globe Icon shows up on the Desktop, drag that Globe Icon to the right side of the Dock between Applications & Trash. You now have a Dynamic Mount, a quick click on the Icon in the Dock will connect you.
    On the multiple Shortcuts...
    Mount them all, when show up on the Desktop, then create a new Folder maybe named Shares on/in the Desktop, drag all those Shares shown on the Desktop to that Folder, (you can even rename them once there, if you wish), drag that Folder to the right side of the Dock between Applications & Trash, this should give you a popup menu to select from.:-)

  • Reader X crashes when user profile redirected to 2nd local disk

    This issue is related to, and possibly a duplicate of, the Reader X Folder Redirection issue.  This is with Reader version 10.1.0 on Windows 7.  Reader version 9 works fine, and if we run Reader X in XP compatibility mode it also works fine, but then we lose protected mode operation.
    In our Windows 7 deployments, there are two local disks (C: and U:).  For most users the profile is relocated from C: to U: and replaced by a junction point, for example "C:\Users\fred" is really a junction point to "U:\Users\fred". This is part of our user data backup/restore mechanism and a key part of how we manage Windows images for users.  This works well for most applications but we have found that it causes Reader X to crash with a MSVC++ runtime error similar to what others have reported in different circumstances.  Here is what we have observed so far.
    1.  Reader X will crash immediately when a user attempts to start it from the desktop or start menu.  Procmon suggests that this crash is related to errors encountered when the application attempts to access the user's temp folder (C:\Users\fred\AppData\Local\Temp) which is really on the U: drive.
    2.  Resetting the TEMP and TMP environment variables to "C:\temp" allows the application to launch, but...
    3.  Once Reader X is launched, some features will cause it to crash in the same way.  For example displaying preferences causes it to crash immediately (Edit/Preferences in the menu or using the Ctrl-K shortcut).  Procmon suggests this is related to the application trying to access the "C:\Users\fred\AppData\Roaming" folder which is really on the U: drive.
    4.  Reader X never crashes and works just fine if the user's profile has not been relocated from the C: drive to the U: drive.  But this only applies to a small fraction of users that we manage.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I can provide Procmon traces if that might be helpful.

    We were experiencing the same issue.
    We solved this by creating a GPO:
    First open your GP mangement console, edit the GPO to which this applies. (This is a user GPO, so make sure you are on the user Ou!)
    Edit:
    User Configuration\Preferences\Drive Maps
    Add a new drive mapping, mapped to \\server\share\%username% (in our case we mapped to P:\)
    On the Common tab, make sure the "Run in user context" is ticked.
    Next create a shortcut (or multiple shortcuts)
    Edit:
    User Configuration\Preferences\Shortcuts
    Add a shortcut to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe (this is for Adobe Reader XI on Win x64; lookup your local path on the destination machines)
    Change the start in to P:\ (the driveletter used in the drive mapping)
    On the common tab also make sure this policy runs in the Logged-on user's security context.
    This solved all issues at our end and we have this running with Adobe Reader X and XI
    If you need to apply this to both Win x32 and x64 machines, you can apply item level targeting and choose the Operating system of choice. (If you add 2 OS'es, like Win 7 and Win 8, make sure that the option is OR and not AND).
    good luck

  • HT5390 mac os x is there a maximum on connected servers in the sidebar of the Finder window?

    Hello,
    I have a server with four partitions connected to my mac. At startup they
    automatically connect, and show up in the sidebar. Or... that's how it was for years.
    The new Mountain Lion sidebar shows only two of them, and it is impossible to
    put the others in the sidebar. It refuses to add them.
    Is there a limit of servers(partitions) that may be added to the left sidebar of the finder?
    ps. Maybe i am the only one that has this issue.
    I look for a .plist preference file to delete, but i don't know which one.
    Thanks

    Hello Hans,
    Normally in Client OSX the limit is 10.

    To automount them, drag those Aliases to the Accounts Pref Pane's Login Items Window.
