Multiple sub-reports

Hello All,
I have a report with two sub-reports at the Page header sections At run time only one report is binding to main report.
How do I deal with multiple sub-reports.
Thanks

Hi David,
In regards to putting the subreports in the Page Header,  it may not be a good idea.  The reason being if the subreports grow larger than one page,  there will be limitations to the Page Header size.  Since a Page Header can only be one page in length,  this may be the reason why you're not seeing all subreports.
I would suggest either:
1.  placing the subreport in a different section.
2.  search the SAP Notes for "fake page header" and to create a fake group and use that as the Page Header section instead.

Wallie

  • Cross-tabs in Multiple Sub-reports

    Post Author: Kiwi Jan
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
I have created a crystal report which contains multiple detail sections (Da-Di). Each detail section contains a subreport, which contains a cross-tab.
I have done this because I need to create one excel spreadsheet which contains data from different types of cross tabs.
For example, one cross tab lists accounts and totals, the second lists accounts and totals by cost centre (17 of these), and a third lists accounts and totals by product group (11 of these).
I have lined up all the columns perfectly, and when I export to Excel (Data only), it works perfectly, and I get all the rows and columns of all the cross-tabs in one excel worksheet. Brilliant.
However, when I print, preview or export to pdf, I only see the "real" page and do not see any virtual pages that are shown in each of the sub-reports.
How can I print or view this from the main report and get the virtual pages as well, without stuffing up my export to excel?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Kim,
What version on Crystal Reports are you using? If its CR 2008 then you can take advantage of the various gridvalue functions and the calculated member feature available.
Here's what you need to do:
    1) In 'Preview' mode, right click the 1st col and select Calculated Member > Insert Column
    2) This will insert a col after the 1st col. To make the newly added col appear 1st, right click on the top left corner of the crosstab and go to Advanced Calculations > Calculated Member
    3) In the Properties area, set the Insert Evaluation to 'Before'
    4) Now the new col would be the 1st col in the crosstab and it's values would be 0
    5) You said you calculate the Billed Amount on some logic; you can apply the summarization logic by editing the calculation formula
    6) Right click one of the 0 values in the new col and select Calculated Member > Edit Calculation Formula. Use the formula in this manner:
    select Gridlabelat("Row",currentrowindex)
    case "Job1" : 50
    case "Job2" : 20
    Default : 0
The function GridLabelAt() accepts 2 parameters: 1st is the name of the row. In this case it would be your database field name. Suppose your database field used as a row is called Customer.Country then the formula would be:
    Gridlabelat("Customer.Country",currentrowindex)
You can use if-else instead of the select -case if you like, but this is where you need to apply the logic for billed amount.
At last, you'd notice that the Header for this col is blank. Just Right click the blank header and select Calculated Member > Edit Header formula and type in "Billed".
That's it! The grand totals for the row won't add the values from the calculated member.
    Hope you get this working.

  • Passing parameters to multiple sub reports

    Dear Experts,
I have a crystal report (version 11) that has 4 subreports. I need to pass the same list of parameters to each sub report from the main design. I can not find a global perameter. Is this possible. an example is the date range. I need the user to be able to run the report and put the date range in once and have it passed to all of the sub-reports. thank you for your time.

    Hi,
Yes, this is very much possible. Here's what you need to do:
If the parameter is a string, number or date created in the Main Report then you can right-click the 1st subreport and select 'Change Subreport Links' > In the Fields to link to area move the Main Report parameter from the Available Fields area on the left.
If the Subreport also has parameters then you can select the right-one that needs to be linked from the drop-down. This is directly link the Main report parameter to the Subreport parameter and you would prompted only once.
    Hope this helps!

  • CR Server - Report with multiple sub reports prompts for SQL connection for

I have a report published in CR Server. The Report has four subreports. When the report is run from CR Server, the initial SQL Server connection log in is automatically handled by the log in details in CR Server, but the report then prompts for SQL Server log in four times, presumably for each sub report.
How can I get rid of these SQL login prompts?
    Rgds
    Tony Maguire

    ARF
Yes - it looks like it might have been to do with the contents of the ".sqldeveloper" directory. Probably SQL Developer may have got confused with me running the same SQL on the same database under different users.
We create a read-only user to carry out queries against the live schema. This read-only user has only select privileges and no insert/update/delete privileges.
    Thanks for the feedback

  • Calling multiple sub-reports based on the values in a column in the main report

    All,
Say, I have a main report with 4 parameters and 8 columns in it's tablix, there is 1 column in this main report that can have 3 values, say A,B,C. If the user clicks on "A", he will be directed to Subreport A, clicks on "B", he will be
directed to Subreport B and if he clicks on "C", then he'll be taken to Subreport C. All works fine when I call subreport A and B from that column, because both of them have the 4 parameters that we can map back to the parameters of the main report
in the "Go To Report" section.
Now, for Subreport C, I'll need to map all those 4 parameters + I will also need to map the parameters in my Subreport C to the FIELDS in the main report. Subreport C has 8 parameters, so 4 of them get mapped to the parameters of the main report and
the other 4 get mapped to the fields in the main report.
Now, when I call the Subreport C from my main report, that runs fine, but, I get an error when I try to call my other subreports A and B. The error says "Parameters in the subreport are not defined", probably because it tries to map the fields
in the main report to the non-existing parameters in mu Subreport A and B.
Any ideas/suggestions/workarounds would help a lot. Also, if someone can point me to a link where multiple subreports are being called from the column of a main report would be a great help too.

One simple solution would be to add the additional 4 parameters to subreports A and B. Just don't use them.
I assume you are calling the subrebort using Go to report action property of the tablix cell control. Try switching to Go to URL. Then use expression builder to dynamically create your url:
    ="http://YourReportServer/Reports/Pages/Reports.aspx?ItemPath=%2fYour%2fReport%2fPath%2fReport"+Fields!Column1.Value+"&Parameter1Name="+Parameters!Param1.Value+"&Parameter2Name="+Parameters!Param2.Value+"&Parameter3Name="+Parameters!Param3.Value+"&Parameter4Name="+Parameters!Param4.Value+IIf(Fields!Column1.Value="C","&Param5="+Fields!F1.Value+""&Param6="+Fields!F2.Value+""&Param7="+Fields!F3.Value+""&Param8="+Fields!F41.Value,"")
Now this is a rather long formula which is why I prefer just adding the other 4 parameters to all of the subreports but this expression opens the report from the url and only when Column1 field is "C" does it also pass the additional 4 parameters.

  • Converting a Crystal Report with Many Sub-Reports into CF Report Builder

I am trying to rewrite a Crystal Reports report which has 11
subreports in CF Report Builder. In the CR report, each subreport
has it's own report footer seciton. I have not been able to find
anything in CF Report Builder that allows me to do the same. Is CF
Report Builder capable of producing a report with multiple
    subreports?

Having successfully created a report with 5 or 6 subreports
(with each sub-report containing a multiple sub-sub reports) I can
say with confidence, "Yes you can." However the real question you
    should ask is, "
Should I create a report with multiple sub-reports in CF
ReportBuilder?" And the answer to that is.... NO, WHAT ARE YOU
    CRAZY!
If you have something that works in Crystal Reports I would
suggest you stick with that. Otherwise you're setting yourself up
for a lot of headaches. Now maybe it was because I started using
the report builder that came with MX7, but it seems there are still
quite of few bugs that will leave you shaking your fist at your
computer. If however you do continue and do the CF Report Builder
route, be prepared for your application to crash unexpectedly, and
for many things to not work they way you expect them to. And if you
ever need help good luck. Take the fact that you had difficulty
finding good documentation as a sign of how little Adobe supports
    this product.
CF Report Builder is fine for very simple reports, but don't
get fancy with it, you'll only regret your decision in the
    end.

  • Sub reports access database multiple times

    Hello,
I have a crystal report created with a main and 2 sub reports. The data source is a stored procedure. when ever I ran/refresh  the report it access the database 3 times(first for main report and 2 times for 2 sub reports).
There is a big single query been executed and stored procedure returns the result. Even though the result set is same the report should not access database multiple times.
Is there any options or properties I have to select or missing. Is there any solution to resolve this connectivity issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Each report will each have their own separate connection to the database.  In your case it will create 3 connection: one for the main report and one for each of the subreports.  If you use sureports, there's no way around this.
Also take into account where the subreports are on the main report.  If you have them in the detail or group sections the subreports will generate a new instance each time it runs.  So you may have not 3 connections but one for each record or group in the report.
I've had to design similar reports and needed to do it without subreports.  I wrote a stored procedure that generated two sets of records: detail and summary.  I grouped the data on the report based on their record type (Detail or Summary).  I found this also made the report faster.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Multiple datasource with a sub-report with Java

    Hi All,
I have a group of data from which I will create subset to separate on a group. Now, I have multiple (say 3) datasets with me for which I want to perform the following tasks:
Add first dataset to the databasecontroller, after adding the dataset call a sub-report just below the added datasource.
The same needs to be repeated for all the datasets I have. Can anyone help to solve this?

    Jason,
I posted a similar thread to yours in the past.

  • SSRS - multiple toggle in single row item to drill down sub report

I need to open a sub report using drill down concept. Is there any possible to give toggle for multiple columns in single row.
     http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/528971
The sub report have two parameters to show data. If I click first link the subreport to be drill down with parameters 1 and 5. If I click second link the
same sub report to be drill through with different parametrs as 2 and 6.
    Any idea to do this?

    Thanks for your reply.
I do it this in different way.
See the below sample image url. I created the main report having four details with toggle to drill down the sub report. If I click the Detail1 the
subreport1 will expand drill down then I click Detail2 the subreport2 to be expand.
But still the subreport1 is visible I want to collapse Subreort1 once click toggle second and vice versa.
    Please give your suggetions.

  • Multiple Columns in sub-report

    Post Author: Marcotte
    CA Forum: General
I am creating an Inventory Disposition form.  At the top of the report, I want to list all of the Reason Codes the user may select.  There are currently 30 Reason Codes, but this could grow in the future.  Therefore, it is impractical to list all the the Reason Codes in one column.  I would like to list them in two columns at the top of my report (perhaps as a sub-report in the main Report Header).
I know how to create a multi-column report via the Section Expert, however what I can't figure out is how to force it to start the second column after a pre-set number of records or inches.  Here's the layout of the report I'm looking for:
What happens is that it lists all 30 records in the first column because it doesn't reach a page break.  How do I insert a page break into a report?
There is a Reason Code Group field in the table which I can use to break the Codes into smaller groups (there are about 6 groups), if that helps.

Aha!  "Across Then Down", under the Layout Tab.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by tabbed reporting.  Do you mean having multiple reports open at once within the Crystal Reports Designer?
If this is the case, the viewer is designed to only have one report open at a time.

  • Sub report group tree in main report Using crystal report 12

    Hi experts,
I have a strange requirement like, same data needs to be grouped two different ways in a same report.  Like
    Store1:
Summary of sales on each item chart
    Store2:
Summary of sales on each item chart
    .....it goes like this
    Department1(multiple stores)
summary of sale on each item chart - store1
summary of sale on each item chart - store2
         --........ it goes
    Department2
summary of sale on each item chart - store3
    --........ it goes
Its in single report, the first part is grouped only with store and in second part the store is under department. How to do this in same report?
I achieved  this by creating a sub report to display the first part of data and in the main report sup report data plus the second part of data will be displayed. And its working well but now the problem is the group tree, I'm not able to see the sub report group tree in the main report.
How to get the sub report group tree in the main report, Or is there any other better way is there so i can get both the data as well the group tree. Please help me to solve this. CryCryCry
I'm using crystal report 2008(installed separately) with Visual Studio2008 (.Net3.5)
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply.
Yea both data source are same(Datasource is SQL Stored Procedure). I cant use like that, because my client needs the group tree also. In case if there is no group tree, we can create one more group and supress it conditionaly. But here the problem is there is no way to suppress any of the group item in group tree as we can do it in the detail section.
So please me with some different ways and also , please clarrify the following doubts
    1. Can we supress one or more items in the group tree.
    2. Can we get the sub report group tree in main report(Everything is working when i used the sub reports except the group tree). So I'm trying for different ways to do, but none is helping me
    Please help me

  • Multiple page report question

My client would like to run a report by project. A project can have multiple sub-tasks and each sub-task can have additional tasks.  Each additional task has 6 sections on the report which all need to be separated by page breaks.  The report
need to separated by the additional tasks so in the example below I would have 18 pages of reports, grouped by Sub task and Additional task.  How do I group this report to make it work correctly?  Would sub-reports work better - still having trouble
with the grouping issue as well on those.
    Project
             Sub task 1
                          Additional Task1
                          Additional Task 2
             Sub Task 2
                          Additional Task 1

    Hi Dan,
According to your description, we are not clear about the “6 sections for each Additional task”. Do you mean six data records? If so, based on my understanding, there are three groups and eighteen records in your report. You want to make those records appear
    on eighteen separated pages, right?
In Reporting Service, we can add a page break to groups within data regions to control the amount of information on each page. In your scenario, you should add page break to group “Sub task”, group “Additional Task” and details. As we tested in our environment,
add page break to these records, the report appears in eighteen pages. Please refer to steps below:
1.On Group Properties of Details1, choose “Between each instance of a group” option on Page Breaks page. Please refer to screenshot below:
Choose same option on Group Properties for group “Month” and “Name”.
2.Click drop-down button next to Column Groups, then choose Advanced Mode.
3.Click on Static under Row Groups, set RepeatOnNewPage as True in Tablix Member Properties.
4.Click Preview, the results before and after adding page break look like below:
If you still have any question, please post some detail information or screenshot about the report design you expect.
    Best regards,

  • How to activate a different sub-report for each row in the data set as main report page breaks on each row of data in the main dataset

I am going to try asking this same question a different way as I have yet to find a working solution to my problem.  I have a main report and then 8 sub reports.  My main report has one data set and returns one row of data per account number.  One
of the fields in the main data set is called AccountProf.  My main report displays one page per Account number and then calls a different sub report based on that account's AccountProf value.  The sub reports take in the account number as a parameter
and get multiple rows of data to display that accounts usage formatted differntly for each AccountProf (hence the 8 different sub report.
So far I can figure out how to do everything but setting the visibility property of each sub-reports when I have multiple accounts.  If I use the following expression for the visibility property on each sub report, it makes all the applicable sub report
for all the accounts requested visible at once:
    =IIF(Fields!AccountProf.Value= "USE_PLUS_DMD",False,True)
*The value in bold USE_PLUS_DMD  is different for each sub report.
Here is a look at what the main report look like:
Here is the main reports data set:

    Hi JasonDWilson77,
According to your description, there is a main report and 8 sub reports in the report, you want to set visibility of sub reports, if no value is passed to the parameter of sub report, the sub report will not be displayed. If that is the case, please refer
    to the following steps:
      1. Create a new parameter named NewAccountNumber, set its data type the same as @AccountNumber, select Allow multiple values, set Visibility to be hidden, then set all available values to default values.
      2. Right-click the first sub report and open Subreport Properties dialog box, click Parameters in left pane, set name to AccountNumber, then click (fx) button, type the expression like below:
    =Parameters! NewAccountNumber(0)
      3. Click Visibility in left pane, select Show or hide based on an expression, then click (fx) button and type the expression like below:
    =IIF(InStr(Join(Parameters! AccountNumber.Value), Parameters!NewAccountNumber.Value(0))>0 , false,true)
      4. Modify parameter of other sub reports like step2.
      5. Set visibility of other sub reports like step3.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • SSRS subreport with a sub-report as header on all pages

    Hello,
I need some guidance on how to get a sub-report with a sub-report header and an expanding table. Please see below.
This is the structure of things that I have:
Main Report 1 is being invoked by ONLY Parameter 1 (User Text Box Entry).
    It Contains:
         Page 1: Sub-Report 1 invoked by Parameter 1
Page 2 or more Pages: Sub-report 2 and a table (T1) expanding vertically based on Parameter 1 and Parameter 2. The Sub-report 2 should appear as header on all pages where T1 rows are there. Additionally, multiple Parameter 2
values may be present and if so, they need to appear on a different page with appropriate header/table data. Parameter 1 and 2 are associated with a ONE dataset & its fields.
Last Page: Sub-Report 3 and few text boxes below it. Invoked by Parameter 1
The issue is I don't know how to insert Page 2 content. I tried making a new report with Sub-report 2 and the T1 below it. This is working fine but I'm not able to get the sub-report as header on all pages EXCEPT the first page. FixedData and RepeatOnNewPage
properties are TRUE & KEEPwithGroup is set to 'AFTER'. Also, once I'm done with this report how do I insert it in the main report. Would it be in group / outside group in the group properties -- I would really appreciate if you can guide me with steps.
    Thank you,

    Thanks Asha ,
Actually this is how my Report  layout is
    Group Header
    ---Detail1
    ---Detail2
    ---Detail3
Group Footer1 (New Page After and Show at Bottom Setting)
Group Footer 2 (New Page Before Setting)
This is the layout of my report.
When Details and Group Footer1 come in same page then my Group Header works perfect.
When there are many details then the Group Footer1 skips into next page and Group Header does not show up in that page.
Our requirement is such a way that Group Footer1 should have Group Header and Group Footer2 should always come in new page (i.e. last Page)
I think I made it clear on my issue/requirement.
Again I really appreciate for your reply.
    Regards
    Kalyan
