Multiple templates one data definition--

Hi I have created two templates for the same data definition.
Now while running the concurrent request i can select the template from the 'Options' button.
Say the two templates are
1)template1
2)template2
Now template1 is the default template when i run the request.
If i have to make template2 as the default template...What should i do?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can try this out.
Navigate to
System Administration -> Concurrent -> Programs
Query the program. Choose Update -> Onsite setting -> Choose T1 and Save
Now when you run this CP you should have the default as T1 only.

I have an XML file and XSL file. I need to have an output in XML.

Multiple templates one document

How do I insert multiple templates in a single document?

What the printer has asked for is called "bleeds".
Bleeds run images off the edge of the paper so the excess is cut away when the printed job is guillotined to final size.
*1. Create an over-size page*
+Menu > File Page Setup… > Paper Size: > Manage Custom Sizes: > Create a page with 10mm or 0.375" extra on all sizes ie 20mm or 0.75" extra width and height+
For an A4 brochure this would be 317mm wide by 230mm high.
For US letter brochure this would be 11.75 x 9.25"
*2. Construct the brochure* with the final trimmed boundaries in 10mm or 0.375" from the outside of the page.
Use guides to mark the trimmed outline and line for image bleeds 3mm or 1/8" outside the trimmed page boundary..
Add crop marks (0.5 pt 100% cmyk lines) in the corners pointing in to just 1mm or 0.1" short of the trimmed corners.
*3. Layout images to run to the bleed guides.*

Multiple Booklets One Data Merge File

I did a data merge of a preexisting booklet in order to print my mailing with address labels on it. How can I set up the printer preferences to print the multiple booklets, stapling them separately, and not print the blank page that InDesign CS5 inserted at the beginning of the document to format the booklet? I'm using a PC.

Absolutely not.
(1)     PDF/VT-1 files must also be PDF/X-4 files. The “create PDF via distillation of PostScript” method precludes this since PostScript supports neither live transparency nor color management.
(2)     The efficiencies of PDF/VT-1 require use of Forms XOjects and Image XObjects in the PDF file. That requires direct PDF creation that you get from PDF export. This is not available via any route that uses stink'in PostScript as an intermediary.
(3)     Adobe most strongly endorses PDF creation from InDesign via the export function, not printing to PostScript and distilling. Such PostScript is optimized strictly for printing and not for PDF file creation.

We are facing some issue with CXML. I have posted a new thread [cXML with SAP PI;.
The content of that thread is pasted below: You can give your solution in the above mentioned thread so that I can grant points.
We need to use cXML for our project. Based on the thread ( [Error while uploading CXML data definition.; )
the following steps need to be done with the cXML DTD.
1.First Delete the Multiple Declaration of "Method .ANY"
2.replace all "ds:" character with 'ds_'
3.replace all "xades: " with 'xades_'
4.replace all "xmlns" with 'attr_'
5) After this use Altova to convert the DTD to XSD.
First of all, we could not carry out the 4th point, as in that case Altova says that it is invalid, and it fails to get imported in PI as well.
Without step 4 , if we import it as external definition, then there are certain attributes with type xml:lang coming in Red.
Can anybody tell us on how to fix this.

Data File below - shows report has the proper tags for the PP_NUMBER; which should split the job into individula files to be email, instead it creates one large file and emails it to the last email account

Single Template support multiple formats of data - Best practice

I have a requirement to create Invoices in a single PDF file.
The invoices would belong to different categories - DebitNotes, CreditNotes, Invoices with single product,
invoices with multiple product etc.. each will have a different format.
I initially thought the right way to create a single pdf is to use a
single Template, with different formats of invoice seperated by conditional formatting.
The see from reading the blogs that the other way is to create sub-template
(one each for credit, invoice, Debits etc) and plug it into the
main template.
I would like to know what is the best practice that is followed in the above case.
If I were to use sub-templates how would I make it possible to view the invoice stub only on the first page.
Since the data from the sub-template would go to multiple pages.
Is adding the stub data to the footer the only option. Please can someone share with me an example
template.

If the various document types are of a single XML format ie the same structure with just document type differences and the layout format is the same just the data different or very minimal changes that can be handled with conditional formatting then I think it would be OK to have a single report for all document types.
If the data structures are very different and the layout requirements are different then I would create separate reports for each document type. If the data structure is teh same but the document type layouts are different then go for separate layout formats.
Going down the sub template path can be a little difficult, you might end up with a very complex set of templates that are almost as much of a pain to manage as the original report you are trying to replace.
Here's the best scenario IMHO ...
1 data extract, parameterized to pull invoice, CM, etc data based on the user request
Multiple layout templates, 1 for each document type. If you have common layout sections across the layouts e.g address blocks then break them out as sub template components that all of the layouts can access and share.
Multiple report definitions, sharing the data extract with a single layout template associated with them

Error while adding a second template to the same data definition

Hi,
I am quite new to XML Publisher. I am developing a report using XML Publisher.
I have added one template to the Data Definition. When I tried to add another Template(with different name as previous, to the same concurrent program and application) to the same Data Definition I am getting the following error.
Error: You entered a duplicate template entry. Please change the Name, Code and/or Application and reapply.
Can anyone help me out solving this problem. I am reaching my deadline. Please suggest me what can be done.

PDF form template displaying multiple sets of data loaded from xfdf

Hello
I would like to use PDF Forms with data stored in xfdf files.
Is it possible to create pdf form (template) for displaying and printing multiple sets of data stored in xfdf?
For example: pdf form contains 2 sets of data. Form field names: F_1 and F_2.
I have 7 sets od data. All I need is to create pdf and xfdf that can be displayed in PDF reader and printed
as document consisting of 4 the same pages containing different data in form fields loaded from xfdf file.
(something similar to Mail merge in MS Office Word).
How it would be done? Is it possible to make such pdf, xfdf?
If yes, where I can find examples (tutorial) of creating such forms, please?

It is possible but not just a simple import of data.
Each form field in the multiple page PDF would need a unique name not repeated on another page of the PDF. Fortunately the Acrobat form standard includes the "template" object and this object can be spawned or used to add a new page with the form fields automatically renamed with a prefix string of the page number and template added to each form field on the new page. So if one were to import a row from your tab delimited file into the template, one could then spawn a new page from the template with the data and rename the fields so there would be no conflict of like named fields.

Can we use same data definition with multiple concurrent programs?

My requirement is as below:
I have two concurrent programs (say CP1 and CP2), both concurrent programs need to use same data definition (the same data template xml file) and same RTF layout template. However when registering data definition in the E-Biz, the data definition code must match concurrent program, hence I have to create two definitions (for the same data template xml file) and because layout template is attached with data definition I have to duplicate the layout definition also.
In summary, i have to create two (duplicate) Data Definition and Layout Template for the same dataTemplate.xml and Layout.rtf files. Is there any way to avoid this duplication?
The only issue with duplication is any change in xml or rtf needs to be updated in all the four definitions (2 data definitions and 2 layout definitions).

How do I split a single event with many clips into multiples events, one event per date?

I archived the video from my AVCHD camera into a Final Cut video archive. Later I imported this into iMovie. All the clips from this archive (spanning several months) are dumped into a single event. If I recall, older versions of iMovie would import video into separate events for each day. Then I would go through and give each event a meaningful name (e.g., "Mary's Birthday").
This is what I would like. Is there a way to split this very long event into multiple events, one for each day that is present in the event?

Not automatically but with imovie 10 you can create new events with any name you like then move clips into them from other events (Just like FCP 10.1). See:

You can also choose to display clips in an event grouped by date.

Hello. I have far too many Calendar items every day in my iCal. Until I finally pare them down to a reasonable level, I need to "reschedule" all of my unfinished ToDo items and reminders, to another day, later in the week.
There doesn't seem to be any "Select All" feature available.

One data source and assign multiple data target in BI?

Is it possible is to assign one data source to multiple data targets in BI? Not like in BW 3.X ; one data source can assign only one Info source. I am bit confused about it, let me know about this ?

Okay, I must have misunderstood your message, I was thinking BI 7 and data targets .. like cubes and DSO's.
In 3.x, assign your datasource to a single infosource. Then assign that infosource to multiple data targets by creating update rules and assigning your infosource to each/all of them.
In this way, you shouldn't need multiple infosources per datasource unless you have a special situation that calls for it.

Recreating the data definition for a RTF template

All, I created a data definition (with the respective Concurrent Program code) then it was associated with the respective RTF template. I didn't like the template so I created another RFT file. For that reason I had to disable the first template by setting the end date to a past date and the old template is showing as no_active. But the thing is that at trying to create the new data definition it prompts an error like this:
"Error
You entered a duplicate data definition. Please change the Name, Code and/or Application and reapply "
How can I delete a data definition at all?
