Multiple X colormaps vs display hardware

I am porting an X application from Solaris2.6/Sparc to Solaris 10/x86. The display application requires multiple (hardware) colormaps to correctly display images without "flashing".
Does anyone have a Solaris 10 x86 installation with a PCI (or PMC) graphics card interface that supports more than 1 hardware colormap? The command:
xdpyinfo | grep colormaps
will show you how many maps your hardware supports. I would be grateful to learn of any Solaris 10 x86 PCI (or PMC) graphics hardware that supports at least 2 maps.
This gets a bit more away from a platform question, and into an X question, but:
How does the Xserver determine how many hardware colormaps are available? My X server says that my ATI Radeon 7000 hardware only supports 1 hardware colormap - could it be mistaken/"fibbing" about this capability? Perhaps just 1 colormap is a fallback default and can be changed?

I've no problems using the previous drivers... I have to say I think we're suffering from the immaturity of 64 bit drivers here. I suspect they just aren't robust enough to avoid conflicts, Creative's in particular seem to fall over in a number of systems. There seems little in the way of a pattern between problems systems except for the 4Gb of RAM, when you have that the problems occur.
Anyway, you could try a thorough uninstall (using a programme like driver cleaner), and reinstall; that fixed some issues for me. Alternati'vely try a previous driver, that really did work for me... wish I could say with confidence it worked for everyone though

Do you mean how to find the manufacture of the LCD display itself, or the video hardware config on the logic board?
Finding the code for the vendor who made the display requires an OS because it is accessed through the Terminal app.
If your serial number starts with "W8" and you are having lines show up, that is a known problem associated with the plant in Shanghai China. It also affected a large number of G5 iMacs. Only a new display will fix it and that probably costs more that any used G4 Powerbook is worth on the used market.

How to connect multiple Apple LED Cinema Displays to MacBook Pro

I have an Apple 24 inch LED Cinema display that I run from my MB Pro. I mainly use the MB Pro+ screen for document editing.
I would like to run a second Apple 24 inch Cinema display from the MB Pro. I am presently running another monitor successfully via a Dynalink USB splitter but would really prefer to run a second Apple monitor. I have enquired at two Apple Stores and browsed lots of sites. Multiple monitors from MB Pro seems ok (as long as it's not two Apple monitors). I would be surprised if Apple is content to pass up the opportunity to sell more of these superb screens.

Multiple copies of album displaying in Ipod

My kids just purchased new 30G 5G ipods. I have them set up using different accounts in Windows XP SP2. They have begun to build their libraries with owned CD's only (nothing from the music store). My daughter's Ipod (after about four sync's -- I have Itunes set to auto sync everything) is showing the same album about 12 times. It is displayed only once in Itunes. Each album on the ipod has the same songs in it -- and all appear to play. I have tried to re-sync, but the ipod does not change. Nothing else appears wrong. I have not been able to find this problem mentioned in this forum or on the Apple support site. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

A spelling or punctuation mistake, or sometimes a trailing space usually causes this after the artists/album and/or song name, which fools the iPod into thinking that there are two different artists/albums or songs. The trailing space is the hardest to spot.
Best way to cure this is to go into iTunes, highlight that artist and/or songs, right click on them and select "get info".
This brings up the multiple song info window. In the artist or song box retype the name, as you would like it, and then click ok. You should do this even if no mistakes are immediately visible.
Re sync this new artist/song info to your iPod.

Multiple Adobe Applications "Missing" Display Driver

I am now using the following system configuration:
2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970s
5960X CPU
2 850 Pro SSD drives
32 GB DDR4 RAM

I am having problems with 4 utterly crucial applications:
Photoshop, Premiere Pro, SpeedGrade and After Effects. They were just installed last night; they are the most recent version.
Here are the error messages that I am receiving for each program:
Photoshop "detected an error in [my] display driver" and won't allow me to use any 3D options or even the either of the graphics cards.

Premiere Pro won't even enter the workspace and gives me the following error message: "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again." After this message it crashes.

SpeedGrade won't even launch whenever I try to open it. The cursor begins to spin as if it's doing something and then quits. I've tried opening it several times, even with Administrator Permissions, but to no avail. It just won't open at all and doesn't even bring up the entry loading screen.
After Effects is a whole heap of trouble, with three error messages coming up:
Firstly, "After Effects crashed previously attempting to initialize OpenGL. Consult the manufacturer of your graphics card for a compatible OpenGL driver."

After this, After Effects completely crashes and refuses to open (giving the same error message as seen in picture 4).
I've got the crazy notion that it has something to do with my video card drivers (sarcasm). Every message seems to have something to do with the graphics card, and SpeedGrade is the only thing that I can't be sure of since it doesn't even begin to start up whenever I try to open it.
However, here's the catch; I have no idea what. Just now, I manually uninstalled all of my graphics card drivers and did a clean re-install of the newest NVIDIA GTX 970 drivers from here: NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL
So I have the most updated drivers and most updated adobe software, and certainly have hardware that it's capable of using. I'm not sure what the issue is here.
Another thing that I would like to mention is that, when opening the NVIDIA control panel, I only have the following options:

I recall that, on other, older computers that I've used with NVIDIA cards and the NVIDIA control panel, there were many other otptions, such as the ability to control SLI and change 3D settings and whatnot. None of that exists here, and I can't even enable stereoscopic 3D. In fact, whenever I try to change anything in my extremely limited control panel, I just get the message shown in picture 9: "To use this feature, set the color depth to at least 32-bit."
Alright, to sum it all up once and for all:
I'm assuming the problem that all of these applications are having has something to do with the NVIDIA GTX 970 cards
Even with the most updated software, the problem still exists.
A list of all my programs was given in case any of them might, possibly, be interfering with Adobe.
This computer is brand-new, basically, and the SSD drives are all quite empty.
I am running 4 displays, 3 of which on the same GTX 970 and another using this product: JUA310 USB 3.0 VGA Display Adapter
Don't ask why I'm using that J5create product mentioned above, but I'll tell you that I have a feeling that it could, possibly, be interfering considering that it is basically its own graphics driver. I have means to support this display without using it, however, so please mention if I need to stop using it for troubleshooting or because it could be the source of the problems. Also, the other adobe applications seem to be working fine at the moment, but if they do ever have any problems, I might assume them to be caused by the same thing that's messing up all of these programs.
So what should I do?!?

I also forgot to mention a few things:
Windows 8.1 has successfully updated to its most recent version and installed all updates.
I'm using an MSI X99 Gaming 7 Motherboard.

FCP 7 Multiple Graphics Cards & 3 Displays

With FCP 7 (Studio 3) has Apple fixed the issue that you can't have multiple graphics cards and more than 2 displays as was the problem with prior versions?

I did the typical; post a question then play around with the problem routine here.
I've found a solution where i put the "playout monitor" on the same card as screen 1. move screen 2 to another card and make the relevant adjustments to the displays arrangement panel so everything is the same layout as before. FCP now plays out to the correct monitor it seems it can't handle sending to other cards.
i'm running 10.5.8 and FCP 6.0.6

OS X Maverick Multi Display Support for grouping multiple monitors into one display?

Will the new Mac Pro be capable of grouping multiple monitors into one large display? Similar to AMD Eyefinity for the purpose of gaming.

The current Mac Pro, or any Mac released since 1987 that can support multiple displays can ALREADY support combining all attached displays into one Extended Desktop, onto which you can open the gaming window and game across multiple displays. It is built into the System Software.

LR 2.2 on OS X 10.5.6 - Cannot reject multiple images on 2nd display Grid

Hi there,
For some reason, if I select multiple images on Grid View on my 2nd display and click 'X' to apply the Reject Flag, only the first image selected will get the X Flag. However, if I do the same exact with the Grid on my primary display, all images selected will get the X Flag.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? Is this a feature that I am missing an understanding of?

Hmmmm... thanks for the confirmation. It just seems so odd that Adobe would feel the need to 'classify' the 2nd display as a second-class citizen. Would it really be that much more resource-intensive to allow me to take action on multiple photos on the 2nd display?
Oh well, perhaps in a future build.

HCM PF: Create multiple new records while displaying old ones

- the PDF layout has two table controls: one for displaying the old values (I0014_xxxxx) and one for displaying the new entries to be created (customer requirement to display the tables side by side)
- old values are displayed all right and they get populated without any problems
The problem is that when I try to create a new entry with fields I0014_xxxxx_NEW, the first table entry in fields I0014_xxxxx is cleared out. This same problem currently occurs also with other table type entries (I0027, I0008).
I've looked very closely at note 1043692 and it states the following in its limitations:
- limitation 4:
a change to the field LGART is not allowed
=> I'm not doing a change, trying to create
- limitation 6:
Two front end fields mapped to the same backend (infotype) field cannot be used in the same table, though you have configured different default values and made one field as operation exclusive. The reason being that the field marked as Op-Exclusive will not be operated upon and there will be inconsistencies in the number of table lines generated.
=> could this be the reason for my problem?
I have also given a shot at creating a generic service for the job, but as the same note suggests it didn't work (testing the process timeouts if I return fields with multiple field values with separate indexes and subtypes).
Have you had any experiences with table controls showing both past and to-be values? Does the framework even support this kind of a requirement?

Not sure however if I followed you completely. When you wrote "values that needed to be displayed are made as optional" did you mean optional = operation-exclusive or optional = disabled with the help of a rule?
Did you btw do this especially with subtype * and index * relevant infotypes? I tried your approach and upon initialization everything looks good (I didn't have the generic service in between SAP_PA:s because gs:s won't work in case of subtype * infotypes at least according to OSS and my initial tests), both the display and edit elements are populated all right.
However when I create a new entry into the new fields, their sort order is messed up upon check & send - the last entry suddenly becomes the first and check & sending for the second time I get errors about LGART and SUBTYpe not being the same (which is natural and according to the OSS note I referred to previously).
If you have been working with subty * related multiple fields, can you elaborate more on your solution?

Display Hardware specs for After Effects

For Mac Os the hardware specs are (and I'm not mentioning all the specs.... just a couple)
5GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space for disk cache (10GB recommended)
14400x900 display
OpenGL 2.0–capable system
I'm I crazy or should the display need minimal 1440x900? I mean ...14400 is a little bit to much isn't it?

Multiple monitor -- where application displayed after loading?

I have a question. After installing Mavericks I have one very annoying problem with multiple displays. When I open an application (e.g. Outlook), I prefer it opens in the second monitor. Before that, if you drag it to the second monitor it remembers your preference and it opens always there. Now, it always opens in the main monitor and I have to drag it to the second monitor all the time. Moreover, it used to be that when you click new message (or reply), you could again select where it should be always, but now it only displays on the same monitor of the main program. Is it possible to change that?

I had a similar problem with multiple displays in Logic Pro X.
My solution was: System Preferences / Mission Control / uncheck Displays have seperate spaces.

Multiple pop emails not displaying in Mac mail

I have multiple pop mail accounts set up, but I can only view one of the accounts? I can select the other pop mail inboxes, but it only displays the one inbox?

I got it sorted. I was trying to load the inbox emails through the account icon in the menu bar top right. When u click on accounts tab top left and select the account it works

Multiple keyword page number display, help me please!

Hi! I've been trying to solve this problem by checking other theads on this forum as well as other forums, but I can't seem to find a suitable solution and now im pretty desperate.
I'm working on a book where we've had to change the numbes on each page and re-make the index. The situation is that the old index is correctly fomatted with about 11539 keywords, and after each keyword the pages where they show up are displayed. The index is situated in the same .indb-file as the rest of the book.
Currently I'm fixing this manually by change and find, working overtime busting my a** to get this done. The problem is that in spite of this, it looks like I won't make it to the deadline.
So, does anyone know if theres a way to enter multiple search tags into a script, and then get the script to display evey page number where the tag can be located? Since the book contains 11539 keywords spead out on ove 700 pages, I'm going crazy here. I would love to just copy-paste all the tags into a script, press enter and then get them displayed one by one so that I could copy-paste them back into the index.
I wouldn't mind re-arranging the whole index, as long as I found a feasable way to solve this problem. I am currently running CS3, but I can upgrade if necessary.

Multiple values Parameter field Display

I created a Parameter field that allows multiple values.
When I put this field en the report (to display in the report the parameters selection) I only see the first value.
How Can I do to display all the values of the Parameter field that the user chose ?

If the parameter is of type string then create a formula with:
join({?Your Parameter},", ");
Display this formula instead of the parameter. It will display all chosen values separated by a comma.
